Back for More
Written for @steddieangstyaugust - days 9 (Upside Down) and 11 (Temporary Character Death). They just happened to merge and I didn't stop them.
It was eerily quiet in the Upside Down. The rustling of demobat wings had died down, black tendrils lied still as their master fled to God knows where to lick his wounds. Only the constant storm that would never bring rain loomed over them.
Steve's vision was still blurry after the near strangulation at the Creel house, and Eddie? Well. Eddie was dying.
"Wait here until we can find help," they'd said. "Keep him safe. Keep him alive and talking." Robin and Nancy dragged Dustin away, screaming, crying, and Steve made a reckless promise to make sure that his favorite twerp of the twerp troupe (also known as the Party, the most annoying kids known to mankind) was out of danger. Or at least as much as one could be when the world was ending.
So, the promise? Keep Eddie from dying.
That was easier said than done. Demobats made Eddie their free buffet - Steve hated himself for thinking that, but maybe he could blame it on the dizziness - and now Eddie was even more full of holes than a golf course. Minus the flags.
Yeah, maybe Steve was panicking a little. But hey, who wasn't?
"Come on, man," he muttered as Eddie's hand dropped, letting go of the blood soaked cloth. "Keep it on the wound. I'm not an octopus, I can't plug in all of these, uh…"
Eddie laughed, but it made such a horrendous gurgling sound that Steve hoped he hadn't done that. "New entrances to the temple that is my body, Harrington?"
Steve's brow furrowed in disgust. Which was funny because, you know, they were covered in blood and grime, so this shouldn't have even fazed him. It still did. "Ew. Don't…just don't."
He still reached out and repositioned Eddie's hand to cover the less severe wounds. Which really weren't less severe, all were gnarly and jagged, but at least Eddie could reach them. Steve's hand didn't leave the most dangerous looking one on his neck, pressing down and slowing down the bleeding.
"Aww. Harrington is shy," whispered Eddie, but obediently used the last of his strength to cover the wound on his side.
"Am not. Your innuendos just suck. Where did you get those, in a history class?"
Eddie's mouth twitched into another smile. "Nah. In front of the mirror, like all proper men. Which might be…why they don't work. On other men."
Other men. Huh. Steve had never suspected anything.
His eyes were starting to close, his breathing more shallow, and yep, this was the moment that Steve would normally get up, get punched, get in the harm's way so the others could escape. But this time it wouldn't work. It was just him and Eddie and so much blood that just wouldn't stay on the inside where it belonged.
Keep him talking. That's what he promised to do.
He nudged Eddie with his knee. "Hey. Hey, Munson! Now I'm curious. How do you know they don't work? Have you tested them?"
Eddie groaned, but one of his eyes opened again. "Jesus H Christ, Harrington. Can I just die from blood loss and not embarrassment?"
"Nope. No dying either way. Tell me."
Another groan, another gurgle. "Didn't test anything, man. This is Hawkins. I never even told anyone. Shit, I didn't even want to tell you, but I'm feeling kinda lightheaded…"
Not good. Not fucking good at all. "It's fine, we're bonding, right?" But Eddie didn't respond, and Steve didn't have a third hand to slap him awake, so he just went for the conversational jugular. "I mean. I kinda get it. I saw a lot of stuff in the locker rooms and I've always thought Tommy has some nice shoulders and back. And…below."
That got Eddie's attention. His eyes opened again, and the bloodied grin he showed Steve was worth the mortifying admission. "Well well well. Who would have thought we have the same taste in men, King Steve? Type, I mean. Hagan's an asshole. But jocks…hmmm. Good for you to…have such a nice view."
Now he was talking too much, and his breath was getting even more shallow. Shit. "You'll get it too, man. Not all places are Hawkins. So stay awake, keep pressure on your…ugh, fine…new entrances to the temple of Munson, and I swear that when you're all healed up, I'll drive you to wherever you feel more comfortable, and we'll get you a jock to smooch or admire. Or both."
"Sounds nice," whispered Eddie. Then, after a pause: "being smooched, I mean. It's so lame, dying without being kissed. Ever."
Look, Steve was running out of options. There was no sound, no indication of help coming, and he had to keep his promise. The world was ending anyway. "Would you like not to?" he asked.
"Huh?"
"I mean," said Steve and even attempted his signature hair flip, which earned him a weak chuckle from Eddie. "I know I look like shit now, but I was a jock. And I'm pretty sure I'm a better kisser than Tommy."
"…have better ass too…"
Steve burst out laughing, and perhaps he managed to hide the slowly rising wave of hysteria. "Yes, thank you! I knew someone would eventually have good taste and say it out loud. But seriously, uh…I'm offering. I mean, as far as first kisses go, this whole scenario will be pretty memorable."
Eddie smiled at him from the ground, and it was so sad that Steve wanted to punch Hawkins, his younger self and everyone who made Munson look this self-deprecating. "You don't have to, Steve. Pity isn't a good look on you."
"It's not," he said quickly, with more force than he'd intended. "Seriously, Eddie. It's not. It's…curiosity for me too. And maybe I also need to take my mind off things, because this whole week has been so incredibly shitty, more for you than me, but still, and it's not like we have anything better to do anyways. So I'm asking again, a bit more tactfully this time - may I kiss you before you change your mind and stop liking jocks?"
"Not gonna happen," whispered Eddie, but his smile was wider now. There was a strange sheen to his eyes, but Steve was only focused on buying just a bit more time, a few more minutes, even seconds. "Come on, big boy. Deflower my lips. Or something."
"You just had to make it weird."
Steve leaned down and inspected Eddie's face. It was covered in drying blood, so were his lips, but it didn't matter. He moved even further, still maintaining the pressure on Eddie's neck wound, and pressed their lips together.
It wasn't much, he was careful not to obstruct Eddie's breathing, but it felt nice. He imagined what it might have been like under different circumstances - Eddie's stubble against his chin, maybe taste of his cigarettes instead of blood, hand in his wild hair and around his slender waist. He winced as Eddie's tongue darted out and licked the cut in Steve's lip, but he met him halfway without hesitation.
As he started pulling away to give Eddie more space to breathe, Steve had a sudden realization. Despite his loudness and abrasive behavior, Eddie deserved the gentleness, the caution. Steve wondered if he could have given it to him in another time, another life.
"So," he asked, still hovering over Eddie, "was that everything you dreamed of?"
Eddie's voice was barely more than a sigh now. "Bit…less blood in my dreams. But…yeah. I really wish…"
The hand on his wound was slipping again. Steve moved it back. "Yeah?"
"I really wish I could have come back for more."
His hand dropped again, and this time, no matter how much Steve threatened, argued or pleaded, it wouldn't rise again.
"Eddie." Steve nudged him again, but his body was still. "Hey, Eddie. Wake up. You can come back for more anytime you want. Just…just hold on, get better and then you can have as many kisses as you want. Come on. Don't…"
When Nancy and Robin finally made it back with supplies, they found Steve still covering Eddie's wounds, not leaving his side. When they tried to move him, to make him let go of Eddie's body, Steve could only say one thing - "I made a promise."
..
Two weeks passed. The world was still ending, Max was in a coma, and Eddie was gone. It felt wrong, being able to summarize so much pain in such few words. Steve couldn't look Dustin in the eye, grateful for the return of the California crew so that Dustin had someone to support him apart from Lucas. He broke two promises in the same day, probably the most important ones he'd ever made.
His body functioned on autopilot. Donations, disaster relief, he did it all to keep busy. He slept very little, but when he did, he no longer had the intense, terrifying nightmares. Instead, he dreamt of Eddie, alive and well, meeting him in a bar, at Skull Rock, kissing him again and again.
Every day he woke up, had a blissful moment when reality was hazy, and then it hit. Eddie would never kiss him again.
It was yet another night full of tossing and turning in his bed. When Steve finally fell asleep, he was in a familiar dream. Sweet and soft kisses, Eddie's hair tickling his face. But this time, his lips felt more rough, and there was sharp pressure on his lower lip.
When he woke up, he thought he was still dreaming. His head was gently cradled by slender hands, long hair was tickling his face…and Eddie was in his bed.
He was dirty, covered in crusts of dried blood. His clothes were torn and the unnatural sheen in his eyes that Steve had noticed back in the Upside Down made it seem like the whites of his eyes were glowing. His nails were sharp, his canines were peeking out from under his upper lip, but it was him, in flesh. In scarred but miraculously healed flesh.
"Eddie?"
"You said," he whispered, and it sounded raspy, rough. "You said I could come back for more."
It might have been a dream - or maybe not, Steve would find traces of mud and a familiar looking bandana in his bed the next day. But Steve didn't know that yet. What he knew was this - even if it was a dream, even if he was about to have yet another painful realization the next day, he'd take it. Because Eddie was worth every single second of that pain.
He wrapped his arms around the dream visitor's neck and pulled him back into his bed. "I did say that. And I'm a man of my word."

“For me, wherever I go, I know my natural and eternal environment, and I know it as part of me and me of it. Beyond whatever we think, there is a darkly glimmering mystery far beyond reason and sanity, but full of the wholeness of beauty. It perpetually sustains and bestows all things with their own nature and being- perfectly, fully and without need for further elaboration or rectification. This is the sorcerous conception of deity.”— Robin Artisson, The Toadbone Treatise
It’s December and the air is warm here.
I peer out my window with drink in hand, watching the blood-splashed sun collapse beyond the horizon and into the highway. For a moment I relish being in a State where drinking a lime-juice cocktail isn’t a desperate plea for warmer days. Here winter never comes, and as such, we never need to change our tastes to heartier or heavier food and drink.
The Southeast is the only home I’ve known: a land of sweltering heat, mosquitoes the size of your arm, and uninterrupted madness via Florida Man. Where I dwell is nothing special: an average middle class town, the wonder and mystery of the city far away and only faintly sensed. The hustle and bustle of modern living remains only a faint rumor on the wind. Life moves along uninterrupted, save for twinges of change here and there. I can imagine such a life would not be enough for some, and truthfully it’s not enough for me. But in the meantime, there’s no rush; I drink deeply from the land and Spirits around me.
I think about Gordon’s piece on Natural Magic, the equation of Self+Spirit World+Place. It rings true to me. I think about the natural world around me, my own slice of it. Underneath the regular suburban dregs still beats the heart of that wild Florida, in every thicket and every wood. In them I’ve rattled open doorways between realms in areas smaller than some public parks, I’ve spoken with Swamp Spirits and learned the unspoken keys to plant identification, and I’ve traded payment and favors with the local Dead and seen them manifest right before my eyes. All these things happened in my hometown not in spite of it, but through it.
The great lesson of Folk Magick has always been that magick was right at hand, that you didn’t need a library of books or special clothes and wands to do it. In Hoodoo a quick trip to the grocery store and some significant places around town will allow you to hurl just about anything at people. When I’m particularly stuck for an ingredient I always go Journeying into the Spirit World and ask my friends there what might do the trick. And often the most powerful gifts are the simplest.
I came to read playing cards, to cast my eyes into the twisting nether realm of probability and possibility not through some online course nor through paid lessons from a teacher. I went down to the crossroads for nine nights around 11:45pm and called out to the One Who Dwells There to teach me, the only sacrifice being the time I spent there. And teach me He did. I found whole new ways of looking at the cards, as books and ideas seemed to drop into my view from all over; I read what I could, but the biggest advances seemed to come from just being out there, alone and in the dark, hearing whispers in my head and seeing symbols dance before my eyes. I read the cards now with great accuracy, with my window into the shifting seas of potentiality amounting to an admission fee of one dollar.
Often in life our own worlds can seem disenchanted, our existences too far away from any of “the action” to feel meaningful. As in spirituality so too in politics: the same way my heart longs to stir up the dead in St. Augustine it flutters at thoughts of joining in armed resistance somewhere in the streets of Rojava; as I ponder the possibilities of protective mojos made and blessed with the dirt from Castillo de San Marcos, I wonder what revolutionary potential I could add to the people’s struggles in Baltimore, Oakland, Chiapas, and Greece. Economics and familial ties, at least for the moment, always get the upper hand.
But I do not rest on my laurels. I read, I study, I speak with those around me. I consider myself the advance guard, the agent behind enemy lines. I gather folks of like mind around me and we plan, we plot, we create pockets of resistance and freedom. We are the first cells of the revolution you see, mitochondria that will one day evolve into a greater being. We put pamphlets, we put up posters, we engage in Direct Action. Rather then wait for ‘THE Revolution” I’ll do what I can here and now, building “the new world in the shell of the old.”
Those that simply wait for monumental change, or worse vote in the hopes it will come, display a distinctly unmagical air about them: they don’t believe anything can change unless everything does, they can’t imagine that their actions could move even the tiniest mole hill, they huff that the time is never quite ripe, that until some Unknown Messiah arrives we’d best simply hope for change.
Surely we, through direct experience, know better then this?
Can’t a hidden gesture or half-mumbled phrase move someone’s mind? Won’t a fervent prayer, a simple oil, and an intensity of Will attract unseen hands to guide you? Doesn’t the simplest mix of red pepper, black pepper, and sulpher cause the flames of hell to leap up at our command? You can’t have it both ways: either you and your allies can literally shift the movin’ and shakin’s of the luck plane as well as this artifice we call physical reality, or it’s all a sham.
I don’t know about you but I’ve got notebooks filled with proof that what we deem “inevitable” or “unmalleable” is plainly not so.
Magic presupposes we can change the foundations of the world around us. Why do our political beliefs so often not follow this maxim? Why are we waiting for some Vanguard, some Party, some Candidate, to rip up the noxious weeds of Capitalism and The State? Did we come by any of our magical knowledge by waiting or did we simply go out and start doing what we could? Wasn’t every bump in the road a lesson, every victory a confirmation that even against the odds we can win?
My tradition courses through the land and was born in struggle: against the State, against the Boss, against the Police. Under candle light and shroud of burning herbs I can feel the air thick with those that whispered or sang prayers in other times; they know, they understand: the battles may be different, the symbols may have changed, but the struggle has not. Candle flames burst with the same heat and energy raging away in my heart, teeth gritting in Nietzschean Will to change the world and break anything that stands in my way. Road Opener work or Revolution, what’s the difference?
My tradition is not alone: anyone laying hands on the practical magic of the past is touching a People’s History. You did what you could with what you had on hand, including whatever ghosts and goblins happened to be around. These people were in the same boat we are: under the heel of an oppressive state apparatus, one that could kill them at any time, all for the service of an economic elite. They too watched an increasing portion of all the value they created get siphoned away, hunger pangs and anxiety the mother of many a prosperity spell. Any good witchcraft carries with it the sublime scent of necessity; by the time you’re in the woods at midnight making pacts with unseen things it’s safe to say the usual channels of change have been blocked.
What else is magic but the metaphysical embodiment of Anarchism, of politics on a spiritual plane? That YOU could defy the laws of the “Lord” and make new arrangements for yourself, that YOU could gain insights and knowledge beyond your “station” in life, that YOU needn’t wait for someone to save you because you were going to save YOURSELF? Isn’t that what Sorcery is all about? Wasn’t it a battle against the dragon Zarathustra spoke about, the one that must be defeated, that must be slain?
“Who is the great dragon whom the spirit will no longer call lord and god? ‘Thou shalt’ is the name of the great dragon. But the spirit of the lion says, ‘I will.’ ‘Thou shalt’ lies in his way…”
The day is dead now, street lights and shabby store signs acting as artificial suns. The lights manage to keep the hum-drum thoughts of day still near, a collective religious belief in the firm and unvarying nature of reality, that nothing has nor will it ever change. The lights bring stability and safety. In this warm paradise where winter never comes it’s easy to believe the lie that most things are unwavering, that some things just stay the same.
For instance, global capitalism or a client’s bad luck?
But I have neither the time nor the inclination for such adult bed-time stories. I close the blinds and set about the work of changing the world around me. To succumb to the thoughts of static existence, of even settled accounts is preposterous. I call out to the Unseen with techniques and tricks propelled into the future by the most disadvantaged in this region while the plantations of the past have gone from places of frightening power to mere relics. While others buy and sell my soul flies right down to the primal, throbbing tap-root of the land around me; what was once an altar in any other townhouse becomes the Crossroads of All Existence; my voice no longer my own, my body wracked with spasms, I become a conduit for things that others claim can’t or shouldn’t exist.
Impossible? Can’t? Won’t? Shouldn’t? All these words are nothing to me! There is only The Will. And if you Will it, it is no dream.

Massive Protests Erupt At Korean Women’s Universities As Administrations Secretly Push For Co-education Transition
Protests are taking place across campuses.
South Korea is home to multiple women’s universities that play a central role in women’s education and empowerment. Ewha University, Seoul Women’s University, Dongduk University, Inha University, Sungshin University, etc., are only a few of the women’s-only institutions that are highly revered in the country. But in the past few days, multiple of these campuses have witnessed intense student revolts.
Though students from different schools have joined the protests, Sungshin University and Dongduk University are the two epicenters. Both schools have allegedly pushed for a co-educational transition without consulting student bodies.
On November 11-12, the campus of Dongduk Women’s University erupted in major protests, with hundreds of students occupying buildings and boycotting classes. The historic campus was covered with funeral wreaths bearing slogans opposing the secret conversion of the university into a co-ed institution. Multiple structures inside the university were spray painted in red, declaring “No to Coeducation.” Students also pelted eggs and ketchup on the statue of the university’s founder, Cho Dong Sik.
This chaos germinated from “Vision 2040,” a development proposal that the university has been discussing, allegedly in secret. As per reports, on November 7, students learned that the school was planning to admit male students under this proposal without consulting with the student body.
The university administration claimed that the change was only discussed as a possibility during a meeting to set goals for 2040, with nothing finalized. But according to official filings, the university has admitted six male students to the Korean Language & Culture Studies program this year. This is an undergraduate program that is meant only for international students.
According to Lee Song Yi, the co-chair of Dongduk’s emergency committee, several incidents of violence against women have added up to the student anger reflected in the recent protests. These include a man posting lewd photos of himself inside the campus in 2018, a professor sexually assaulting a student, a medical student murdering his girlfriend at the Sindang Station, the Busan roundhouse kick incident, and a man assaulting a woman for having short hair. In such a social climate, female students are staunchly opposed to the idea of compromising the few exclusive spaces for women.
"Although the university isn’t a perfect haven, we have felt free inside the university campus, and getting rid of a safe space where women can freely express their opinions goes against the founding purposes of the university." - Lee Song Yi
Students from other women’s colleges in Seoul also joined the protests at Dongduk. Multiple students donning the school jackets of Ewha University and Seoul Women’s University were spotted at the demonstrations.
Following the protests at Dongduk, Sungshin Women’s University also witnessed a huge protest on Friday, November 15. More than 1,200 students showed up at the demonstration to oppose the university’s decision to open admissions to male students in its International School of Korean Culture and Technology from the 2025 spring semester.
The Sungshin University campus walls have been covered with hand-written posters and signs condemning the school’s decision, and students have organized sit-ins as well. Funeral wreaths conveying messages opposing the admission of male students were also spotted on campus.
In both cases, the schools have been accused of responding to the student protests in an insensitive manner. Sungshin Women’s University allegedly used toxic thinners to erase protest messages from the campus structures.
At Dongduk University, things escalated even further, with male professors allegedly acting violently toward protesting students on multiple occasions.
Police were also reportedly dispatched at Dongduk University when students tried to force their way into the president’s office on November 11. A police officer was caught on video urging students to calm down and reminding them that they would be giving birth to babies in the future and shouldn’t engage in illegal acts. The students, enraged at the comment, shouted back that they would not, and the brawl continued. According to Seoul Jongnam Police Precinct, the police officer’s comment came after the students tried to break into the president’s office while pounding the door with a fire extinguisher.
Students at these universities are continuing their fight to have the decision of co-educational transition repealed, and it wouldn’t be unprecedented if they succeed. In 2015, Duksung Women’s University also brought forth a similar proposal, followed by Sungshin Women’s University in 2018. Both had to be withdrawn after fierce opposition from students.

Gallery update 11 February 1977, Queen performed @ Philadelphia Civic Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ‘A Day At The Races’ TourJohn Deacon has switched from his 1968 Fender P-bass to a Music Man StingRay.Here’s an incredible anecdote from a Philadelphia native who lived the Rock and Punk Scene:The Queen show in Philadelphia was general admission, no assigned seating. Of course, I was determined to get right up front. My friends and I arrived early and ended up smashed against the glass entrance doors before security open them. When the guards finally pushed open the doors, I was propelled backwards, while my friends were pushed forward into the venue. Another glass door opened behind me, sandwiching me between the 2 doors.
This was 2 years before the fatal concert crush that took the lives of 11 fans at a Who concert in Cincinnati, so no one was yet considering the potential for disaster. As more and more people streamed into the concert hall, the heavy entrance doors on either side of me squeezed me tighter. The force pressed all the air out of my lungs; I couldn’t even take a breath. I knew I was going to pass out and die if I didn’t do something. I felt intense fear and panic. With all the strength I could summon, I pushed the door forward with Herculean effort and extricated myself. The experience was terrifying — like being buried in a coffin — and this incident likely contributed to my claustrophobia later in life. Of course, my immediate priority was still to get up in front of the stage and hopefully join my friends. The Civic Center staff tried clumsily to control the flow of the crowd. Two security guards used a long piece of lumber about 8 feet long as a barricade. They would lift up the plank to let a few people at a time onto the floor; then they would slam the board back down. While the board was up, I darted forward, but they brought the board down hard and smashed my hand. My left finger was definitely broken, but I still pressed ahead to the front. Thin Lizzy opened, and they, of course, killed it. Queen opened with ‘Tie Your Mother Down.’ I was in heaven — the throbbing pain in my hand momentarily secondary to the majesty of Freddie Mercury prancing along the front of the stage with a his signature broken microphone stand, commanding the audience. There was absolutely NO frontman like Freddie! The next day when I realized I needed to go to the hospital, I had to tell my dad I hurt my finger in gym class so my concert attendance would not be curtailed. I managed to save the program all these 44 years Source: ‘I’m Not Holding Your Coat: My-Bruises-And All - Memoir of Punk Rock Rebellion by Nancy BarileThe beautiful pictures are credited to L.A. Ives

“Good day to all!”
I hope you’re all having just a lovely time. I can proudly say I am not, a pesky Gryffindor stole my tie for a ‘potion thing’ and didn’t give it back, and now I must suffer the wrath of his aunt. But on another note, I’m happy to be here with you lot!
now, let’s do this one last time, right from the beginning. Aaand with a few clarifications.
This is an ask page (mostly), and yes I am a 7th year! I’m open to answer your slightly more ‘freakier’ questions.
No, I am not MC. They’re a bit of a pest, really. But they’re certainly keeping Sebastian busy since Anne went away. I’m still not sure what’s happened with her.
I am in the British time zone, whatever the posh letter for it are. So please be mindful of when I’ll most likely be asleep! … and ignore that I posted this at 3am! :)
Now, onto a few fun facts so you can get to know me!
My Appearance:
Yes, this is the most accurate photo that shows how I really look! And despite how it looks, this is not a mugshot. I have rather pale skin, but I’d caught a tan in this photo.
I have golden blonde hair that can be quite darker at the top sometimes, though I am a natural blonde. It’s naturally straight and rather thick, it falls just below my shoulder blades.
my eyes are actually green, but in every common light they look grey.
I do wear makeup, but only a little. Weasley always seems to notice the days where I put on a bit more lipstick than others.
My House:
I am a Slytherin purely by nature I suppose. My mother was a cold-hearted, determined and genius potioneer and the top of her classes in Slytherin house, but my father was… not the same. My father was apparently quite the troublemaker, and a crazed Gryffindor, he was expelled in his 5th year for covering for my mothers mistakes, the two really were in love at some point in time.
My Family:
My mother is a complicated woman. I don’t live with her anymore, but I did until I was 11. When I was 12 I spent all year at Hogwarts, then when I was 13 my father finally got custody of me. I’ve lived in the lighthouse with him ever since. But, my mother was a very stern woman. We lived in a large house, since I came from a weather lineage. I wasn’t allowed to leave, ever. My mother runs a… risky business. She couldn’t risk her children leaving and being targeted as hostages. There was only one garden, full of gorgeous flowers and glowing green beds of grass. But, that was the closest I ever got to going outside until my Hogwarts admission letter. Then, I left and never looked back. She couldn’t keep control over me anymore.
My father is hysterical. And not in the funny way. He left me and my mother just a few weeks after I was born, because he felt himself losing his sanity. He’s still the same now, occasionally he runs away but he always comes back. Usually for a sandwich. He owns 7 chicken coops but no chickens, lives in an abandoned lighthouse, and only seems to wear flannel shirts. Other than all that, I forgave him when he took my in when no one else would. He’s always going to be my beloved father.
My twin brother, Colin Victor-Skeers. He’s my mothers and my step-fathers child, just not through blood. and it shows. He’s always been rather cold, but he only seems to open up around Sebastian. We never really got along, we still don’t. But thanks to Natsai we’re at least on talking terms now.
My beloved little sister, Greta Victor-Skeers. She looks so much like her father. She may only be a third year, but she’s still so little in my eyes. She seems intimidating and cold but don’t let that fool you, she’s a sweetheart deep down. Not to mention she’s got a bit of a crush on that boy running Crossed Wands, she’s just too scared to admit it! Oops, you didn’t hear any of that ;)
My Friends:
My dearest and longest friend, Anne Sallow. We all know she’s got a thing going on with Natsai, we’re not stupid. She’s an angel, a saint, a gift sent from the heavens above. When I went along my merry way to Hogwarts in my first year I still had no concept of social cues and was struggling to find my way around. Anne was the first and only person who helped me that day! She introduced me to her twin brother and his best friend, and since then she’d been my closest ally. …wherever she is now, I hope she’s still smiling bright.
Sebastian Bartholomew Sallow… what is there to say? Has he got his darker sides? Sure. Have I had a crush on him before? Yes. Did Anne tease me endlessly? It’s very obvious. But in all seriousness, he has to be one of the smartest wizards I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Even if his knowledges are in some of the more questionable ends of magic. He’s always treated me right, and I know I could go to him for anything.
Natty! Oh, my girl! Y’know, we have a pact? If neither of us are married in ten years we’ll tie the knot ourselves! Goodness, Natty has to be a close tie for second with Sebastian. She’s the kindest and most loving soul I’ve ever met. She’s gorgeous, not to mention! I could talk about her for hours and hours but… I’m afraid she’ll wallop me.
Ominis Gaunt, a charming young man! I don’t know an awful lot about him, but we’ve known of one another since the train ride to Hogwarts in our first year. Mostly because he accidentally bumped into me, but I helped him pick-up his things after a cold scolding from the boy. I admire him, really. I’d help him through thick and thin.
Garreth, please, oh please, bring me my things back. Weasley here enjoys taking my things for his potions. Last week it was my favourite perfume and today it was my tie! Almost makes me wonder what he’s making. But, he’s a sweetheart, I must admit. He always lends a helping hand, is a big hugger, and is very good at letting me know when my lipstick is smudged. He even does the honours of helping me neat it up! He likes telling me I’m pretty cool too, like, a lot. I’ve heard from his older brother in 6th year that he’s got a thing for me, but I find that hard to believe.
I believe that’s all there is to say on my part! Feel free to ask a question in my ask box, shoot me a message, or just read through! I’d be happy to answer any other questions you have!
With all my love,
Kathleen N. Skeers <3

Make America Gay Again
2/18/2017
Saturday. 11:07pm
“Making America Gay Again”
“The Perfect Arrangement”
I saw the play tonight. Devistating (It was about the outing of gays in the government during the McCarthy era in the early 1950’s.)
I sat alone, mid first row.
I was “part” of the play.
Some uncanny similarities between the play’ story line and my life:
“When I’m 60, I don’t want to be hiding.” (The line was said twice in the play).
“I stopped talking to my mother 6 years ago."
Jimmy (my partner’s name was Jim. His cousin Ruth Ann called him Jimmy)
The cover up and the admission
George Orwell “ In some climates to tell the truth is revolutionary.”
I also went to a protest rally march today against Trump and his "Make America Great Again” agenda. An organizer told us “If he sends in the National Guard, form a human shield. 4000 people marched one mile to the Federal Building. Per there San Diego Tribune later “the march was peaceful. They shook cops hands.” Empowering.
6 year since my last drink.
As the plane leaves the ground tonight, around 9pm, so will, or did, I ride up out of the alcohol sea of despair 6 years ago.
I love the homeless 60 year old I gave my bag of movie popcorn to as I left the movie “Don’t Call Me Negro” last night. He said “I don’t drink, smoke or do air conditioning.” He sees air conditioning as one of the nation’s greatest threats.
Alcohol related events of 2/19/2017
—Female speaker: Last class of the Death Penalty Conference “The only thing between you and all of the bars in San Diego is this class.”
—the people pouring out of the bars screaming as I walked down 5th Ave in the Hillcrest district last night.
—People drinking, bars open, on my early morning walk to and from 24 hour fitness gym and the Hilton
San Diego is fueled by alcohol.
Some Senator wants the last call time pushed to from 2am to 4am in California
I learned that at the only substance abuse class given at the conference, you get zero continuing education of the bar credit.
I’d say out of the 1000 Death Penalty Conference goers, there were maybe 4, including me, who didn’t have lawyer body. (A lawyer body is flabby and out of shape)
Nothing at the convention advocates for mind/body connection.
No 24 hour fitness booths.
No “Other Bar” booths (The other bar is lawyer alcoholics anonymous)
It’s all cerebral.
All 1000 participants should have marched in unison in the anti Trump protest march to the Federal Building Saturday.
They should have see “A Perfect Arrangement” and “Don’t Call Me Negro”
Before each class, a personal trainer should have been present to put them through a work out.
End of entry.
Note: I attended the Death Penalty Conference in sanDiego California in February 2017.
