AKA Australian Admiral, and in te reo Māori kahukōwhai, which means "yellow cloak".

Native to Australia, New Zealand, Lord Howe Island, and Norfolk Islands. The caterpillars feed on the stinging nettles Urtica incisa and Urtica urens, and other plants in the nettle family.

In New Zealand the yellow admiral pupae have been parasitised by both the self-introduced Ichneumonid Echthromorpha intricatoria, and the wasp Pteromalus puparum that was introduced as a biocontrol of the Cabbage White butterfly.

Unless I'm mistaken, this wing should be the top wing of a Red Admiral.

i need to know your thoughts on shadow

and his relationship with sonic

and his potential relationship with the wakowskis

I really really love Shadow in the cinematic universe. I think that Keanu himself described his character perfectly and that is “terrified and vengeful”. I think he fits right in with all of the themes the movies have tried to encompass: beating loneliness and grief with love and understanding.

That said with Shadow “fitting in” with the Wachowskis, I don’t think they’ll end up adopting him in the same way they did the other three (at least in canon) though I absolutely can see him hovering around the area. I’m kinda partial to a headcanon that Shadow actually moves into Sonic’s old cave for a while he recovers from the events of STH3.

He’s got his own agenda, feelings and purpose to figure out and I think with his newfound freedom, he’d explore what that means to him. The Wachowski household is loud and rambunctious which I feel Shadow might find crowded and overwhelming in large doses. A visit to the neighboring forest to catchup with Sonic on a run, a quick petting of Ozzy when they let him out, a random gift left on their front porch. That’s Shadow letting them know he’s looking out for them and is sorry for the trouble he caused.

I feel like Sonic and him only become closer but it’s in very small increments. Shadow wants to throttle him every other meet up bc he teases the hell out of him and won’t stop trying to shove modern pop culture references down his throat. All that said, they’re both dealing with loss and knowing somewhere else far away should be home but circumstances brought them to Earth and they had to make the most of it. Regardless of labels, Shadow is family🖤💙

introducing..... MY VENTURE BROS OCS: A butterfly-themed villain and and her sidekick who are TOTALLY CRAMPING THE MONARCH'S STYLE!!!!! 🦋

Red Admiral has an origin story as ridiculous and unnecessary as any supervillain worth their salt. once an accomplished entomologist studying carnivorous lepidoptera, a bite from a mutated specimen gave her the ability to dissolve into a swarm of vampire butterflies the same way a typical vampire transforms into a swarm of bats. with her new power, she's turned to a life of crime simply for the novelty of it, and believes her claim to the butterfly-based villain niche is more legitimate than the Monarch's. (voice: Helen Mirren)

Swallowtail doesn't have powers, but makes up for it with her sick butterfly knife skills. she was a bit disappointed to discover that serving as a supervillain's right-hand woman is basically a glorified internship, but hey, it's still kinda cool. by day, Aditi Tallavarjula works at a hole-in-the-wall comic book shop frequented by one Gary Fischer. eventually he works up the nerve to ask her out, but hilarity ensues as both parties try to hide their henchman double-life from the other. I can! He's a male thin-spined jumping spider, Tutelina elegans. He is very lovely and so are the other friends :)
