I've been calling this the Codemaster AU (cause it's like half inspired by Chez's Gamemaster Kinger) but also I'm not sold on that name but also also I have literally no other idea for it bc this literally only exists for this one comic lmaooo;; I have nothing else planned

has stretch marks and some small scars on her hands- she used to sew and bake stuff so thats where most of the marks are from. accidentally pricking her fingers with the needle or by burning herself

has various birthmarks and moles on her, some on her face! has loads of freckles too covering her body, they become more obvious when shes been outside

if this is something you want to do to assure yourself that youre both in the real world, as well as simply wanting to get to know the true body of your lover, then shes willing to do it... over time...

trails her own hands over your arms and legs to make a note of any "flaws" in your skin, generally exploring you with the same innocent motive

GANGLE

theres some scars littering her body- you get the feeling that she was prone to falling over in her life before getting stuck in the circus... a lot of them are on her knees, some on her forearms and elbows like she tried to brace herself

she has a few beauty marks scattered here and there but otherwise, asides from the mentioned scars, her body is plain... frail like her digital body once was

shies away from your gaze and your hands, and cannot bring herself to look at your own body despite the scenario being purely innocent, simply taking each other in in your fullest after finally exiting that digital hell

if this is something you really want to do, its best to do it in baby steps and to her comfort

hairy old man, browish blonde hair thats all over him- arms, legs, chest, back- even has a bit of it on his face in the form of a short beard thats starting to grow in.. not the best kept due to his state that the circus left him in after escaping

lots of various scars too, a lot on his knuckles and fingers... youre half tempted to ask if hes gotten them on accident or during scuffles... he doesnt seem like the type to fight someone... probably nicks from regular activites

AU: Escaped, as well as Human Caine + Bubble

Relationships: Bunnydoll, Showtime, Gangle x Zooble, and Kinger x Queenie

In this alternate universe Caine was actually the first human trapped in the digital circus game by his own brother, Able, because he wanted their company all to himself. But Caine figured out that if you twist the ear piece of the headset then you could leave the game. But to make sure Caine would not try to escape they trapped his six year old daughter Bethany (Bubble) in the game as well. They manipulated Caine and Bethany’s minds to make them believe they were AI, and so when new victims were trapped and were confused why Caine was an AI but could not do anything they gave him admin commands. They also made sure Bethany (Bubble) had no arms so IF Caine did end up remembering he would not leave because he would be leaving his daughter behind.

Caine and Bubble do end up remembering that they are real people and not AI thanks to all the members of the circus glitching into what we see Pomni enter in episode two with Gummigoo. They then leave thanks to Caine and enter the human world…

That’s when we learn that when one day passes in the digital world it is only an hour in the real world, so they haven’t missed much… if you don’t count Caine, Bethany and Kinger, as well as the rest which have been abstracted (and we also learn that when a human is abstracted they actually leave the digital world). That’s when we get everyone’s real names:

• Caine the Ringleader is actually Caine Eden, co-founder and head game designer for C&A, as well as a single father to his now (whatever age) year old daughter Bethany.

• Bubble the Assistant(?) is actually Bethany Eden, only daughter to Caine Eden.

• Kinger the Chess Piece is actually Kenneth King, AI specialist for C&A (thanks to the 7 years of computing science in episode 3), husband to Quinn King and father to Paige King.

• Queenie the Other Chess Piece is actually Quinn King, curator of insects (because she likes bugs), wife to Kenneth King and mother to Paige King.

• Pomni the Jester is actually Paige King, algorithm developer for C&A, daughter to Kenneth and Quinn King.

• Ragatha the Rag Doll is actually Ruth Ann, solutions architect for C&A, younger sister to Arthur Ann and Randy Ann.

• Jax the Rabbit is actually Jackson Burrow, app developer for C&A, older brother to Jane Burrow.

• Gangle the Mask is actually Gabriella Satin, team behind the design in making for games characters at C&A, twin sister to Gabriel Satin and girlfriend to Zara Parts

• Zooble the Rubix Cube is actually Zara Parts, games developer for C&A, partner to Gabriella Satin.

More Sinful Circus stuff!

I forgot to show Sun and Moon's designs, who in this are guards that make sure none of the prisoners like murder one another. They have admin powers, meaning in this both the sun and moon are stronger then Caine which is funny to me

Sun is very much rules are rules no matter how ridiculous they are. Her favorites are Gangle and Ragatha because they're the MOST likely to listen to her, whilst Jax literally never listens- so she's constantly pissed at him

Moon is the more 'good cop' of the two- willing to bend the rules a LITTLE but not by much. She has a crush on Caine because she adores his crazy demeanor and creative personality, but hates Pomni due to how dangerous she can be- especially around others

Also here's the sexualities, genders, and ships (+ a brotp) within this AU! (Keep in mind the sexualities, genders, and ships are NOT CANON to the official material ^^)

Surprise surprise, the first one is Ragapom. THEY ARE MY COMFORT SHIP. Pomni is a transfem lesbian whilst Ragatha is just a bisexual mess. Their ship dynamic is very simple: Easy to fluster x calm mommy gf. Ft: Masochism! Ragatha's kind of in denial of finding Pomni's murderous side hot buuuut she does find it hot. Especially when she growls

Next is Jax x Zooble, which I call Bad Rabbit. Like NO ONE in the prison expected this. They just one day became a thing and told NO ONE ELSE about it. They're partners in crime who smoke weed and take ibuprofen together honestly. Like they insult one another a lot, but it's their form of love... Also they support each other's chaotic adventures and behavior

Caine x Moon- one of the two only straight people in the circus fell in love with authority. I'd like to think that Moon's like the ONLY one that can calm down Caine's madness by a little bit- and Sun HATES that they love one another. The coders do nothing about it cause they don't care, but Sun VERY MUCH CARES (Caine isn't aware Sun doesn't approve)

GANGLE AND KINGER ARE BESTIES YOUR HONOR. We love two atutistic people just existing with one another. Gangle will keep Kinger company in his 'kingdom' while she doodles. Kinger 100% treats Gangle like a daughter, even giving her a princess like role- complete with a paper crown

Seeing as there are three days left of my little TADC poll, and knowing full well that a majority of the votes have already been cast and the winner has all but been chosen, I'd like to give a deeper summary of each to both hype up those who've voted already for their choices and to give people seeing it for the first time a more informed choice. I meant to do this sooner, but I was doing the Dead Colonizers feast with my family for the past two days. Anyway, here are your fics:

Chess Gang Flashback: This fic would begin in the development crew at C&A noticing that their first playtester wasn't exiting the game on schedule and sending in a (way too) elite team of administrators to rescue said employee. As admins, they default to a form reminiscent of the Admin icons on their work laptops: chess pieces, to be precise. Kinger tries to lead the way, even when he no longer remembers the plan, Queenie will make power moves until she realizes how powerless she really is, and Bishop tries to do good by his Lord only to be corrupted by the divinity of the digital world. And the others? The rook, the knight, and the lost pawn? They may not outlast the others, but their actions will have lasting impacts.

Hotel Staff AU: Exactly what it says on the tin, really, t1he circus is instead a hotel that everyone works at. Pomni is a Valet, Caine is her manager that is friendly and supportive (when he makes himself availible, that is), Ragatha is a Front Desk Auditor that helps her a lot with paperwork, Jax is a porter that never does more than his job description and screws around with his coworkers, Gangle is a bellhop who puts on a happy face for guests only to duck into the bell closet to cry about getting stiffed on tips, Zooble is a bartender at the hotel bar who doesn't talk much and leaves as soon as their shift ends but sometimes brings Pomni water or soft drinks, and Kinger is the property manager for this (and several other) hotels whose gone a little crazy from being run ragged. The main six work the same night shift schedule, dealing with all sorts of weird guests, requests and personal stresses (including some not so digital, not so doomed yuri).

Pomni is a System and Ragatha is queer: I envisioned these as not one fic but two intertwined stories; both would share a single canon and events from one would effect the other, but could be read in either order. One half of this series is Pomni's traumatic first day resulting in her splitting into a system. Below is an illustration of the colorful cast of characters this story would feature, all within the colorful character they all live in, inside-out style:

The other half focuses on Ragatha, her sewing skills, and the wonderful and horrible "personal project" that she keeps grafting to herself to cope with circus life/past traumas around her femininity. I am trying to talk around tumblers censors, so just know this: it's one part spicy fantasies, one part skin-crawling descriptions of the reality of what this sort of fabric-surgery would entail. The inflection point of these two narratives is that Pomni and Ragatha would confide their coping skills with one another and bond in the process.

One Shot where Pomni Meets Bishop: this one will make more sense after the Chess Gang Flashback, but it doesn't neatly fit into that narrative. Instead, this story finds Pomni lost in another distant courner of the circus, a land claimed by an exiled zealot. The former wants answers about the circus, the latter wants another convert to his ideology... or otherwise manipulate her to play the role he thinks is needed to be played. All told it would be a clash of chaos and order, of logic and belief, and is going to be full of emotional (perhaps even literal) bombshells.

Toy Story AU: this I came up with on a complete whim when making the poll, but I have developed the idea some what. I'm honestly torn between making Caine a human (controls the games, comes and goes as he pleases, unaware of the suffering he is inflicting on his toys, etc) and a toy in the position of Woody (lays out the rules of being a toy, his design, bringing Pomni back when she strays) but I know I want Pomni to be confused and resentful of her existence as a plaything. Her idea of an exit is the toys leaving the bedroom and forming a society out in the woods, but the other toys are skeptical of her plans. One cool thing about this story is I can call out the darker aspects of Toy Story's premise, like the fact that freezing up seems to be an involuntary reflex on the toy's part.

New person joins the circus: this would be the introduction of another oc, this one a living stuffed animal named Totes. Initially believing the circus to be a big silly drug trip, they seemingly shrug off the weirdness of the circus and embrace their half weasel, half tote-bag existence with ease... until they sober up, and Pomni finds herself having to navigate a role similar to the one Ragatha had for her when she first arrived. This is definitely one of the narratives that leans into the circus being a grim and endless cycle, and thus this fic represents an inflection point of Pomni reflecting on this shared, miserable experience.

Zooble Theseus' Ships Themself: another "throw it in" idea, but a wonderful thought experiment to explore that I imagine they have done at some point. This fic would explore the nature of a being that can swap out every part of themselves, except for an intangible piece of sapience that is not transferred to any one piece. This is proven when the reformed Zooble tries to make a second self with the swapped-out pieces, and fails.

Descendants Style story: Somebody has to do this, and in a sense many fans on Tumblr have laid the groundwork with their fan kid designs. This would take place after a sort of "balance patch" to the game that would allow the humans in the circus enough autonomy to have children in some capacity or another, and rather than going on many small adventures Caine sends a group of said descendants on a grander adventure as a sort of coming of age ritual. There will be goofy enemies, fun dynamics between the circus kids, deep existential questions on the humanity of said children, and what their future might hold being trapped in the same world as their parents.

Pomni becomes the "New Old Guard": this is the natural conclusion of the "Circus as an inescapable cycle" line of stories, with no concessions made with whimsical twists or pretense of escape. And we rip that bandaid off harshly with the first chapter detailing the abstraction of Ragatha coinciding with yet another new arrival, the combination of which triggers some horrendous PTSD and survivor's guilt. If she can make it even a quarter of the time Kinger had made it-- or even through the next week-- it will be a miracle.

Good/Steak Dinner ending: if the above was a True Bad ending, then this is the opposite. A few years after escaping the circus, the main six have gotten physical and mental therapy, as well as justice. But not much money, just enough to cover their bills and a single very nice meal for their troubles. The story of their escape and the aftermath of their stay is told as playful reminiscing over drinks and appetizers, their lasting anguishes carved out of porterhouse and ribeye entrees; as the night winds down and the humans start to return to their old lives, the second oldest member of the circus and the last victim of that digital hell get their just desserts.

So, there's the loglines for each. And as necessary I will make more art as I develop each idea/feel like I need to. But as you can see, there's a reason I am so indecisive about these ideas that I am putting these fics to committee. I think up/mentally expland upon these fics faster than I can write them, and the data I am getting from Tumblr is giving those brainstorms a direction to consistantly burrow in. Get out the vote, my fellow TADC Tumblerites!

Holy shit. I forgot this was a role-reversal AU. In fact, Pomni having a lot of hp suddenly makes sense! Of course the starter AI is the one keeping them in line. It comes first in line. But do the others know? Does she know? What powers does she have that the others might not or did she lose it due to a hack? Was it a player? Or hell maybe an AI rebelling. Was it Kinger? Is the reason he laughs at her because of this? He knows? In fact, this is based on the show right? Where are all the ai...In the show, they get put in a box under the 'stage'...Is that why Pomni has guilt? I mean if I was incontrol of all my friends...Oh god, I bet the HP helps. Think about it. High hp makes it harder to stop her from chasing you. She's fast too. You have to be when you are the jester...Thankfully she's short. What does the collar do to her though? Does it keep her in the 'Admin' mindset or does it allow the dev team to mess with her? I wonder though was it a virus or something else that stopped it? Like what is she hiding, or again does she even know. Did someone take her place or is it just a waiting game until they notice the collars do nothing anymore. Or at least no one has been enforcing them but themselves. ARE THERE TWO POMNI?! So many questions. Man, I do wonder where the missing AI are though.

yahoo!! gonna knock out some requests today !! this is gonna be based off of my own experiences btw !! not much else i can think to put in this authors note so! ill just get on with it note from the future, little longer than i intended but thats mostly because admin started relating TOO much wuh-oh

CAINE:

caine is honestly really good about keeping you on track when theres a task at hand. i dont know about you, but i tend to wander about when im working on something; to check on something else repeatedly then coming back to what needs to be done and just go back and forth.(shit im even doing it now, the getting up and checking on things thing even though i know the thing is fine/complete) i like to think that caine would be pretty okay at making sure you get the thing you need/want to do done! i dont think theres meds in the digital world, i mean yeah sure you can ask for them but since theyre digital theyre not going to actually. do anything. but lets say in a hypothetical au where this all takes place in the real world and caine is a real person, he would make sure you take them consistently and on time. honestly this hc isnt really part of the ask but; i generally like to think that caine likes to follow routines and schedules as closely as he can... maybe its the ringmaster thing since hes tasked with keeping everything running but... shrugs

very supportive when you make a small mistake in something (like this is just a general thing, though) and isnt too obnoxious with trying to hold or regain your attention is something happens to the side and steals it away. very patient and polite with it, i think

last minute addition because it hit me like a sack of bricks. time blindness. fucking time blindness. you know how i mentioned that caine is good at keeping you on track? i think he would be good with helping you out with that, at least some of it. mostly logging your activities and him keeping an eye on the time (which he already does so its not like an extra habit he needs to pick up.. though if it werent he would pick it up in a heartbeat. literally anything for you, he loves you a lot)

honestly he might start to mimic your stims and fidgets! he doesnt mean to mock you, no i just think he would start to reflect your actions after spending most of his time around you to make sure you're okay! while caine keeps you on track, kinger is likely to go with you when you wander off to check/do something else. really unless its something time sensitive or really important is when hes going to start outwardly reassuring you that the other thing is fine. honestly, in an au with the real world i was originally going to say he would have a chance of forgetting to help remind you/ask if you took your meds (if you take them) but i think he would take stuff like that way too seriously to even DARE forget. like yeah sure you're not going to d1e if you forget to take them for a single day but still. he'd probably be like this with any meds tbh, so if you're prone to forgetting youll be fine as long as you have kinger around! gibes you pillows for fidget stuff, if you are feeling restless. or perhaps even goes on a walk with you around the circus grounds. like idk about yall, or if this is something completely unrelated, but my legs HURT when i sit too still. like down to the bone, if i dont get up every now and then its agony; sleeping is hell and on days its worse than others (like im talking sometimes i need to be in near constant movement) (also jerky arms and legs) (anyways)

also very polite with returning your attention to where it needs to be but honestly given that kinger himself is shown to space out at least twice in the pilot i think sometimes you guys both get side tracked and struggle to remember and/or get back into the flow of what you were originally doing

So I've seen some AUs change the genre of the game itself (burrotello's Fight Club AU is the first to come to mind), and I had one for a genre I personally love but don't talk about enough

What if TADC was a musical idol/rhythm game?

I give you: The Amazing Digital Dance Floor

The idea is that the game of TADC is a musical idol/rhythm game, where all of the characters have to climb the ranks of popularity in order to become powerful enough to run the entire game (aka gain Admin privileges)

Caine is the leader and has been for a while. Pomni is low when she spawns in and so she has to become the most popular idol in the game in order to make an exit for the other characters

Abstraction happens when you become forgotten by "the audience"

General Kinger hcs

you guys already know the drill; mix of general kinger stuff as well as dynamic stuff blah blah perhaps even some x reader stuff if you squint

not very warm, very hard. hes a giant chess piece and his robe doesnt do much to soften and warm him... though the fur of his robe is softer than the majority of his clothing...

very tall, has back pain, for two reasons. one, because hes old!!!! two, hes constantly huddled in his pillow fort so hes hunching over all the time, i mean look at hos he stands.. hes hunch

this mostly applies to any post digital circus aus where everyone escapes to the real world but i can easily see this being true for kinger atm or perhaps later on, but he has some level of agoraphobia (a type of anxiety disorder, makes you not want to leave places you feel secure in. can range in severity, for some its only not wanting to leave their town for others it can be as bad as not wanting to leave a room in their own home. this is a v brief and summarized description so i recommend you guys look into it) (this might be a little self projection as admin has a mild form of it)

good friends with gangle and ragatha! as mentioned in the general ragatha hc post they have a more father/daughter dynamic whereas he and gangle have a grandfather/granddaughter dynamic!

loves telling embellished stories about himself and his adventures... probably hypes up stories about him bug hunting around the grounds

i think he keeps a bunch of bugs in his room, all in their own little homes! terrariums!

on the fence of hcing the he preserves bugs... maybe he did prior to the digital circus but stopped due to a mix of forgetting that was something he did... and if he does have vague memories stopped because it kinda... makes him feel weird, like it reminds him of how hes trapped in the circus now.. which... admittedly is not the same as the preserved bugs but shrugs

leaves flowers and things at queener/queenies room, usually he visits her old door most nights to talk to it... some nights hes consciously aware of the fact that shes gone, other nights when hes a little more out of it than usual he... doesnt

if he ever does start dating again, i think hes going to be watching you like a hawk... never letting you out of his sight and, as unfortunate as it sounds, he might come off as a little too overprotective... overbearing.... overly clingy... at times.. likely all three

definitely sleeps with weighted pillows/blankets, this one is another one thats more so for post circus au but i can see it also being relevant to the actual.. circus stuff, probably asks caine for them

speaking of caine, i can see them having a... decent relationship

theyre not close friends, i think, but theyre polite and friendly to one another

perhaps its out of familiarity and security, at least on kingers end since caine probably isnt able to abstract and hes been there the entire time

i personally dont think kinger really thinks hes royalty, as he refers to himself as in the pilot.. honestly i think he was just trying to appeal to the gloink queen... perhaps he does joke about him being a king, though

he makes dad sounds (grunts, loud sneezes, diabolical snores, ect)

fidgets a lot... usually tugs and plays with the fur of his robe... or messes with his hands (drumming his fingers, flapping them, cracking knuckles, flexing fingers, folding them, ect ect), probably paces around a lot too

has definitely tried to grab someone and run but due to his lack of arms hes run away without his hands and the person he was trying to take with him
