not to send the billionth ask about hlvrv but are doc and g-man intentionally narrative foils. man who would do literally anything for his family VS man who believes having a family makes you weak. like. they ARE narrative foils but was it on purpose or a happy accident. also every day i thank you for making sleepless a forzen when i feel like anyone else would've made him a benrey for Frenrey. idk it adds a little pizazz that he's the singular forzen in hlvrv and not a benrey even if him being a benrey would probably change nothing plot-wise

YESSSS and i love it. the question of "was it intentional" is a little here and there because the more i look back at hlvrv the more i forget what i was thinking of in the moment and the more i only have my notes to go off. where episode 1 was kinda me going "UHHHHHHH" and panicking looking at the building blocks that ive laid out desperately trying to smash them together. doc definitely wasnt crafted with the idea that he would have this traitor narrative in mind, and certainly he wasnt created hand in hand with gvrv. his creation was me in the notes app going "uh i need two more gordons. what would be cool. A MAD SCIENTIST MAYBE?" and things kinda fell into place from there.

i think as the live askblog stuff went on i definitely did find my footing with that though, especially as i was going in with the looming shadow of like. onceler-au-ification behind me. i wanted the science teams to play a part in them for sure. and for that connection, that bond, to play a part, and i guess as the story went on doc and freemans fates got more and more intertwined, as doc has this sort of selfish love of her family where she will stop at NOTHING to save them, and the admins whose selfish love of freeman ends up trapping all the other gordons and dangling false hope in front of them, but as the story goes on, as the gordons make these choices to reach out to each other and fight for their happy ending, thats how you see doc and the admins' loves grow into something more deeper and mature. compared to gvrv who chose to love people only as tools

ALSO YEA I LOVE SLEEPLESS. im like 90% sure zer creation was also just me scheming in the notes app like "ooooh theyll NEVER expect this one!" but also i noticed hlvrv at large had a very large forzen-shaped gap so i was like "fuck it". i agree i think making sleepless a benrey would have been tacky

And so, every single member of the ask blog (Yes, including Polite Benrey) had a great time on the rest of their vacation, where Leading Light did not try to kill or scam or summon a G-Man on them.

They later went home, and did NOT go their separate ways like a lot of fantasy stories do.

And they stayed friends for many years to come.

Leading Light successfully became a celebrity washout. He got no consequences for stealing Lady Gaga's entire discography. Him and his band are recovering slowly, but surely. They're learning what true love is again. And are happy.

Dr. Hypnos stole many McDonald's toys. He was later banned. She is happy.

Overlord got the Big Mac he was waiting in line for. He is happy.

DOG went on to share a fruitful partnership with the Love Letters, and his McDonald's is now an empire. DOG is happy.

The Y2K gang still isn't allowed on airplanes aside from Spork and Gordon B, and Joshua is taking his first computer science class this fall. They are happy.

The Swap gang finally got to see Swap propose to Neo. Their wedding was on a cruise ship they stole from the Merch team. They are happy.

The Worldstop household experienced an incredible popularity boom in Malcom's streams, thanks to Darnold agreeing to help him with some more insane things. Malcom and Darnold are now the Jerma equivalent of their world. Player is going to university, and is excelling in all his theoretical physics degrees, and are happy.

The Mad Science Team succeeded in taking over the world, and they made healthcare free for everyone, and made the world a kinder place. Doc also gave every Spiders 2 a funny party hat. They are happy.

The Admins kept gallivanting through space and having fun. Freeman aims to collect every game on the Nintendo WiiU. He is still 100 away. All of them are happy.

Capital M went on to win a Nobel War Prize for destroying property. She has upgraded her ship to have a self-serve ice cream bar and a bowling alley. Vil still has a complicated relationship with friendship, but vil is working on it and being kind to themselves while still being a supervillain. Vil also got a life-sized Eggman statue installed. He is happy.

The Merch Science Team is embezzling millions from Disney cruises after trapping them in a fake lawsuit. They ride the open seas and laugh knowing crime isn't chargable on international waters. They are happy.

Phoenix Wright got his badge back after proving Kristoph Gavin was guilty. He is happy.

GVRV is still stuck in Brazil.

hello hi you dont know me (unless you know us outside spacehey) im the system admin. asking this because i don't want our self-centered bias to get in the way of decision making :P (Also I spun a wheel three times and am unhappy with the results.)

Context:  We quite recently told someone we know that we like them (alterously collectively, but romantic for loverboy and benrey — forgot to clarify the specifics and just said alterous though) and at the time they just said they needed to process it and we haven't exactly talked about it since outside of him calling us gay a couple times (/hj abt that). We're specifically asking instead of just doing it because we know he's been very stressed related to these things but i'm not particularly sure if he's like. fine rn. bc he's dogshit at communication /vlh

TL;DR:  guy knows we like him, hes polyam w/ a bf who we hate, i want to ask him about (1) if hes actually into us the same way or (2) willing to try shit out

Benefits:  possible personal closure ,  maybe bf .  who knows . Risks:  making shit weird ,  stressing him out (he has told us before the stuff w/ me and his bf has stressed him out) ,  maybe he hates us idk /hyp

Thought I'd make one big post for all of my current running @rry2k theories. Feel free to add comments and your own ideas to these. I would like to thank many people from the Rry2k fan server for helping me with these! (long post, so hit the read more)

The Animal Sin theory

After noticing that both Livewire and Ramrot had associated animals and the fact that Ramrot represents the deadly sin of lust, I decided to assign all of the characters animals and sins.

That animals come from a post where all of the characters say their favourite animals, which is why this is in orange (the colour I'm using for canon facts). We (the theorists of the fan server) then tried our hardest to assign each character a sin. Some were very easy (Ramrot, Benrey, Conductor) but the four characters with question marks is what make us sweat. These will probably be shifted the more characters we see infected. (The middle text is referencing another theory I'll be showing later wink wink)

The scar theory

Probably my most iconic theory! I have already made a post about how Tommys colour vision is now stuck on "goat vision" but this is what lead me to theorising about the others.

One thing that also got pointed out (by the lovely @merklins who has been such a good help in all of these theories) is the fact that all of the known scars have affected the eyes. Which would explain why bubby doesn't have anything visable after being infected, he has giant shades.

This theory will also progress the more we see the infected and the uninfected.

The Green Theory

My newest theory. I noticed while editing the animal sin theory board and it instantly spiraled. Both Livewire and Ramrots designs are simply greener versions of their uninfected counterparts. Most of the information behind this one is on the board itself, however something pointed out by Merklins is the fact that the administratior shield (seen on both Darnold and the two infected we've seen) is yellow and blue. Which make green. It might just be a coincidence but its something to keep in mind!

EXTRA THEORY:

Administration Theory:

I believe that Darnold was either once the Admin or stole that power. This is due to her abilities, her appearance in what I'm calling "timer hell" and the administratior shield seen on her jacket sleeve. However what I'm focusing on is the fact that both Ramrot and Livewire have the same shield on their designs. I linked this to the Windows feature where, if a software has administrator privileges, it gains a small shield on its icon. Does this mean Darnold is giving the infected admin privileges? I think so! Especially since we see Ramrot open the askblog, which is an ability saved for Darnold, Gordon and Joshie (and possibly Coomer aswell.)

If this is true, this could mean bad things.

These candidates will be listed in order of how much help is needed, from least to most.

Protagonist No. 1

Nickname: Madden

Classification: The Immortal

AU title: HLVR17776 (Half-Life VR but it's 17776)

Name: Gordon M. Freeman

Signature color: Orange

Found predicament: In a strange universe where nobody dies, ages, or gets injured anymore, a job at Black Mesa would be considered a source of entertainment more than anything. Coincidentally, this version of Black Mesa also exists on the Moon, and defeating the big boss has knocked the whole Science Team into deep space. Though Madden here is kind of a control group, too much time alone will drive all of them insane. Definitely not the most pressing one.

Protagonist No. 2

Nickname: Ozzy

Classification: The Artist

AU Title: HLVRSI (Half-Life VR but the Self-Insert is Self Aware)

Name: Oswald Freeman

Signature color: Cyan

Found predicament: In this universe, on the day of the test, Gordon Freeman got sick, leading his niece to commit identity theft and sneak in on his behalf. Objectively, the ending turned out better than it originally was planned to- Ozzy got along quite well with all of the Science Team, even Benrey, but therein lies the rub- they're all trapped on Xen by G-man, who refuses to let them go until Benrey is defeated. Similar situation to Madden. Not the most pressing either.

Protagonist No. 3

Nickname: Game

Classification: The Objective

AU title: HLVROS (Half-Life VR but the Object Shows are Self Aware)

Name: Controlly Freeman

Signature color: Green

Found predicament: Intersecting universe between the Half-Life and Object Show multiverses. Controlly here is a mix of the original Controlly and Gordon; everyone in this universe is similar. Given that Controlly is much worse at anger management that canon Gordon was, and Gold Ingot is more annoying... things don't bode well. Currently stuck in a rut where he doesn't know why Gold Ingot hates him, and is stuck on Xen until he can beat him. Last of the least pressing protagonists.

Protagonist No. 4

Nickname: Hal

Classification: The Rogue

AU title: HLVR-AISwap (Half-Life VR but the AI Role is Swapped)

Name: Gordon Freeman

Signature color: Dark blue (there is no dark blue on Tumblr, sorry.)

Found predicament: This universe is also a sort of swapped one, though it's quite different from the previous Swap's. Here, Gordon is the only self-aware AI, and Benrey, Bubby, Coomer, Darnold, and Tommy are all players. Gordon doesn't believe he's being perceived as real, given that Benrey is trying to deny feelings for him, and Bubby never takes things seriously, so he is currently trapping everyone in the game and trying to force them to see him as real. Less urgent than the last two in the fact that he can't die, but he definitely needs help.

Protagonist No. 5

Nickname: Joshie

Classification: The Searcher

AU title: HLVRTL (Half-Life VR but the Time Loop is Self Aware)

Name: Joshua Freeman

Signature color: Purple

Found predicament: A complicated universe, set in a timeloop state. Gordon has run through Black Mesa a multitude of times, and in the same timeline that Benrey decides to lash back at Gordon and make him watch as Benrey destroys the timeline, Joshua decides to follow his father into the facility, worried at his tired state. Joshua went through most of Black Mesa running and hiding, only meeting the Science Team halfway, and now he faces his father being used as a puppet by a vengeful AI. Definitely going to need help with this one.

Protagonist No. 6

Nickname: Markiman, Freeman

Classification: The Ego

AU title: HLVRYT (Half-Life VR but the YouTubers are Self Aware)

Name: Mark I. Freeman

Signature color: Red

Found predicament: Universe where Markiplier made HLVRAI instead of Wayneradiotv. Interconnected with the Markiplier egos, where Darkiplier finds Freeman and decides he's worth trying to recruit to his cause. Unfortunately, that means he has been trying to do that by any means possible, and Mark is loyal to his team. Darkiplier takes control of G-man and replaces him, removes the Science Team, even Benrey, and makes G-man the final boss. Before he was grabbed, Mark was just about to give in, due to lost hope and being completely unable to beat G-man and Darkiplier on his own. Either do last or first. Urgent.

benjamin has a connection to vortessence thanks to the crystal 

instead of ben only getting mentally trapped in the game like in past versions of the au, he’s now isekai’d /hj

gordon doesn’t exist in ben’s world (he’s just a fictional character), nor does joshua and barney exist in gordon’s 

ben is a only child irl and has friends online

g-man’s personality is more aligned with his half life counterpart (no one in the group likes him especially gordon)

gordon and tommy are close friends, much like canon!benrey and tommy

gordon is not only aware of his world, but his role in it and HATES IT. that’s why he tries to protect ben and the team and makes attempts to derail the plot, much to g-man’s annoyance

the science team still gets betrayed by bubby although this time it’s thanks to g-man manipulating him to do it 

dr. coomer is still the one to gain awareness and try to get to ben’s world

ben loses a arm but gets it replaced with a mega buster (yes it’s a megaman reference)

tommy is trapped in the void after finding out his father’s plans to make the game play out the way it’s supposed to. he sends out sunkist to help aid ben and the others on their journey

g-man activates gordon’s final boss code against his will, forcing the others to fight him (what makes this worse is that he’s aware the whole time) 

they defeat g-man, free gordon, and tommy becomes the new admin. ben gets a prosthetic arm and is sent back home after spending time in chuck e cheese for tommy’s birthday 

ben responds to both benjamin and benrey post-game (especially when he’s tired) 

ben gets dr. coomer’s message on his computer

ben still has blue eyes and is still connected to the vortessence although it’s not as strong as it was in the game

they're a bit basic But! designs for the HLVRV Forzens that were only mentioned! uh, i have a few things thought-out for them which i will put below so um spoilers i guess???? nothing too spoilery but uh jic

IRATE (Admin's Forzen): Okay so uh, my ideas for him is that he's basically trying to help the Admins by finding any answers he can on the whereabouts of G-Man or just like any information at all. He's only really friends with Tommy and Benrey, but he has a strong sense of justice and just wants to help where he can.

"Forzen" (Kittle's "Forzen"): This is literally just Benrey, I just wanted to like draw what i think he'd look like, lol.

Builder (Resort's Forzen): Guy who graduated YALE, majoring in Robotics and Cybernetics! He's basically just a sweet guy who helps the team with any of their Robotic/Cybernetic related issues because he likes helpin' his pals :D! He's not involved in any of the villainy or crime stuff directly, he's just here to make machines. Also, he has dimples and the team gifted him earrings!! what a sweetheart!

Hi hello my brain has been spinning for a while and I absolutely MUST share my thoughts so here we go PFF

For the Admins of HLVRV, it is strongly implied that their events were essentially HLVRAI but In Real Life, up until GMask decided to be a little bitch and abducted Freeman because he didn't want to do his job.

And going off of HLVRV episode 3, Benrey can do sweetvoice, which is typical of all Benreys but mainly the final boss, if we—again— are to assume it would have been HLVRAI But Real for their events.

Does that mean Admin Benrey is secretly the Nihilanth??

YEUP. i’d say ‘secretly nihilanth’ is the wrong turn of phrase bc for all my vrai headcanons benrey is a glitch in the game that Replaces the final boss with himself. so a real life equivalent is more like “the boss is an eldritch being that has nihilanth-level power”

quick doodle of the utterly batshit idea i had. tldr FATE sneezed way too hard and the ship got bonked into yet another weird time wormhole after getting hit by an asteroid for real this time. now the gordons are the sadd and gloomy admins n the benreys r the ones on the therapy ship. TLL's benrey and doc's benrey somehow weren't effected. don't ask how the others work i dont know either

a post dump of some sad/upsetting headcanons tonight because i don't know how to actually make a post for them in a way that isn't just dumping them here like this & some of them are a bit old-

been a long time headcanon of mine that y2kvr Benrey has claustrophobia and a fear of the dark, his worst fear is waking up back in the computer. sometimes he'll have weeks at a time where he can't even go near the computer let alone go into it. the worst feeling is when a day is going so great and its all fun and well a little too well the fear he'll suddenly see a pop-up appear in front of him and realise hes still trapped somewhere in the web.

have you ever seen an ai have a nightmare??

occasionally Doc (& this also goes for Dr Hypnos) feels like she isn't where she is, she'll feel like shes at a different point in time in different circumstances and situations, often it isn't too bad- it messes with her head a bit and makes him feel like hes a few weeks or months or even years behind but with his mix of bad time management and living in a secret lab where he usually doesn't see the sun it doesn't much matter to them,, but the worst time he had to deal with it was the entire time while his family was dead. while he was alone he would often find himself losing track of time to a point days would pass and he wouldn't know, she would think she was elsewhere and occasionally think "right i have to go get parts for Harold today i was told to-" or "OH [ ] would LOVE this!" before realising where he is and that he hasn't had to get parts in months and he hasn't seen his family in longer. sometimes he'll forget

Sleepless sometimes gets scared the Mad Science Team only keeps zem around since Doc likes them, in times like this they'll avoid talking directly to Harold or Bubby in case ze says the wrong thing.

Malcom has had times of feeling that he can never fully recover from his actions- he was an asshole once, what if he still is deep down and he doesn't know? what if everyone still sees him as an asshole and he can never fully be more than what he had been?

i doubt i have enough fingers to count how many of them suffer the feeling of "i can never reedem myself from [insert crime/event here]" and i have 3 arms(/j)

Swap is scared of sirens and alarms and garage doors

Freemans memory still isn't perfect, it will never be as good as it had been- his memory was always been not the greatest (partly because he has adhd/tism) but after the events with Tron Gman his memory will forever be a bit patchy. and his time as Storyteller DID NOT do the poor guy any favors.

all of the Admins have gone to check that Freeman is still there in the middle of the night at least once, its happened most with either Boss or C where they've either been laying awake all night or woken up and gone to check that Freeman is still safely asleep, theres still the occasional WORST night where even AFTER knowing Freeman is safe would continue to wander around for a bit and make sure there was absolutely no way that anyone could get in and take him.

Yes! And thanks so much for the feedback. Run as Admin is probably my favorite of the bunch, I'll be honest. I'm really proud of it, and it's good to hear that it's having that kind of effect.

But yes, the next chapter of Run For Your Life is coming along smoothly. The pacing of some segments is making me adjust my outline a little bit, and I keep having new ideas to either work into the framework or sadly discard. “That is something we need to take into account,” Bubby recognized. “The rest of us may be able to take out enemies or blast across the map, but if the player character himself doesn’t hit the event flags… well, it doesn’t mean shit. So even if Benrey could ignore walls or straight-up fly to the Lambda Lab, it wouldn’t help unless he could carry us on piggyback.”

Bubby paused in thought. “Actually–”

“Two is my maximum piggyback,” Benrey shook his head. “Also, I don’t think it would let me take you. ‘N’ if it did, we’d have to do the whole, fox-chicken-corn-boat thing.”

“Are you implying we’d eat each other if you leave us alone in the right combination?”

Benrey gave a lazy smile. “I don’t trust Bubby and Tommy together.”

“I’ve been alone with Bubby lots of times!” Tommy protested. “You know, he… he was my mentor when I started working there. And he didn’t eat me.”

“Well, I didn’t succeed,” Bubby played along. “You don’t know what I was doing when you weren’t looking.”

“Nah, it’s Tommy I’m worried about,” Benrey pointed to the friend beside him. “Look at that funny lil’ hat. He’s got so many of ‘em. That’s the, the decorum of an apex predator.”

Tommy spun his propellor with a finger, clearly tickled by the remark. “This one’s stripes make me think of watermelon ribbon candy!”

Gordon shook his head with a dramatic sigh. “You never stood a chance, Bubby.”
