I'm watching The Medicis: Masters of Florence, I'm pretty sure you can all guess what it's about just with the title 😂😂 I like it very much, I love shows based on history and things like that, so I find it very interesting. Plus, I am currently very much having yet another obsession over an actor, this time it's Richard Madden, and he stars in the show, so... but how can you blame me?!?!? He's a complete sweetheart, he's talented, and he is Scottish... I am doomed... @madamrogers must be so tired of hearing me fangirling like crazy over him 😂😂

Words from a Wired Editor

I’m feeling super empowered after hearing Adam Rogers, the articles editor at Wired, talk at Arthur L. Carter Institute. This whole freelancing/pitching editors thing feels a lot confusing but he offered some tips for getting in the door:

Write for trade publications or local magazines before pitching the big guys

Read what other people aren’t reading (small blogs and journals)

Find the big picture in small subjects

For every large feature that you pitch, think of three nuanced blog posts to accompany

Also, Rogers shared that Battlestar Galactica executive producer Ronald D. Moore personally owns a Klingon blade. I have to keep that in mind for future projects.

Historical Context, Key points re evaluated. D1

In our historical context piece we defiantly used alot of the same sort of emotions as Enter Achilles. We also used stereotypes as a main aspect, we did this by using the male from the group to take on the role of being a ‘stereotypical man’ we then built on this the opposite way Enter Achilles did. When the gay man in the social bar was being picked on, the rest of the straight men were wanting to fight and make fun of him to show off their sexuality as in this time period it was very unheard of and unpopular to be gay. However in this day and age we accept different sexualities and almost want to protect them from the ‘old man’ typical view on things. We did this by the women taking charge a lot and creating authority levels on stage and floor. We used a section of the piece at the end where we actually put the stereotypical male under a table, we wanted this to portray that no one has the right to treat people bad as everyone has things that define them as a person, some more obvious than other consequently leading to legalisation of things such as gay marriage etc .

Another key point we focused on was perception of beauty and perfection in society and how wrongly it makes people act. A big impact on this is lad mags such as NUTS, Playboy etc. These came around in the 1940s, right about the time of the production of Enter Achilles. To show this in our piece we had the idea of the male having a lad mag with a hole right through it so he could see the women too. We talked about the comparisons people make about others or them selves to celebrities and how bad and awful it made people feel to think they weren’t perfect. We ended up putting this in the piece at the very start as it was something we knew everyone could relate to so the audience would be engaged. To do this we started off very robotic and in unison, to show that we were all under the same influence. We then put make up on our face. After this we stood like manikins in a shop window  and pretended to be as though we were perfect. However after this braking up into our individual pieces to show that, you can try and be perfect and beautiful for all your life but in the end you will only and always be you.

Final Evaluation for Acting.

Look Back in Anger - John Osborn - Alison.

I thought the build up to this went really well, I learnt all my lines realitively quickly so was able to concerntrate on my acting for the majority of the time. Playing and learning the character Alison went well as John Osborn based his plays on reality and so this was pretty easy to pick up. I tried to use natural reactions to things that partner said as it was a duolog. I tried to allow myself to be as natural with my voice and manorisms as i could. Me and partner for this worked really well and cracked on with everything when she could come into college but unfortunatly she was unwell alot and we weren't able to perform on the assesment day.

However working in rehersals went well and I thought we had a really strong piece. We has staged the piece so we werent just sat still which is what other peers used in the same dialog. We moved around the space and used the furnature that was there, we tried to really portray the emotions that the characters carried in the script. I used the emotion recall method to do this. I think the rehersals went really well for this piece and wasn't best pleased my partner didnt show for assesment day as I was really ready and gunning as I felt this was my strongest piece so far. I felt if we could do this again I would of done a little more research into the character to really empathise with her and use this in my acting.

The Resistable Rise of Artoro Oi - Stanovslaski - The Ghost of Ernesto Roma

I found this character really interesting and loved exploring it. Unlike John Osborn, Stanovslaski leaves alot of his script open to enterpratation so I could really go to town on this character. To start with I was a little laid back with it as I couldn't really get into the script however I chose to physicalise this piece which made me a lot more comfertable with this. I pretty much choreogrpahed the script with movement and actions which also helped me remember lines as they were a little out of the ordinary which also made this piece harder.

I was really happy with how this monolouge went as I really worked hard with it as I found it harder then Look Back in Anger, but was happy with the end result. I also chose to increase the intensity with this by adding in an Oi character. If i had time to make improvments I would of learnt my lines quicker so I could concerntrate on choreographing this and working on the staging as I was a little late with doing this. On the other hand I felt I worked really hard on this piece and it paid off.
