Can I ask why people seem so down on the RWBY anime? Other than the writer issue (which I totally get and if it's just that, fair enough), what is it that has people on here so concerned/unconvinced/generally disinterested in it? I feel like I'm missing something. (Or is everyone just weirdly dispassionate about the idea like I am?)
Can't tell you mate, I saw the images and just stopped caring. Don't know why other people don't like it.
For me? The first image just looked... tonally dissonant with the show, and it kinda sank my expectations to begin with.
And then the new images... it all looks like the exact ideas each character is supposed to subvert. Even Pyrrha's design is giving me the vibe that she'll be portrayed as prim and proper and uncritically on the pedestal that the real Pyrrha hated.
It all just feels like it's gonna play straight the tropes that RWBY subverts.
I don't know why I've got these vibes, but I do.
This is probably the last ask I'm gonna answer on this, I've already deleted a bunch, I just don't wanna talk about it.

@adamisblogging replied to your post“Am I the only one that sometimes feels like the line delivery in ST:D...
I actually think a lot of that, at least as far as Burnham was concerned, was exactly the point. She was born human, but was brought up on Vulcan to repress them. She was clearly pretty young, like <10 years when she arrived, so she probably spent almost 20 years learning that. Sarek brought her to Georgiou to change that, but she never broke entirely through, Burnham still doesn't exactly entirely emotional. That's why the emotions in her lines are so uneven.
That’s an interesting theory but if you compare her delivery to that of other vulcans/ half-vulcans in the history of star trek and even in discovery itself (Sarek for example), you’ll notice that it’s not void of emotion the vulcan way. Because vulcans still have varying intonations in their voice as they speak, like the speech is actually produced on the spot as a result of speech planning in their brain. Burnham, certainly in the first scene, is supposed to have banter with the captain but it doesn’t sound very humorous, and the captain also sounds very wooden. So I don’t think that was a stylistic choice in this case.

@adamisblogging replied to your post “Initial Star Trek: Discovery Reactions”
I actually love that comparison, with Rogue One. That's a really good way of describing it!
Thanks!  The more I think about it, the more positive I feel about the analogy.

He said like two halves of different sentences. We know literally nothing about how his character is going to be shown from the trailer. No idea about the scene's place in the show, or the context. It has no information at all.
Only commenting because people seem to think that I care about their reaction to my opinions--which I don’t--but it got me thinking about how you people, those randoms commenting on random posts I don’t tag, but tumblr continues to put in the tag, because you see someone who doesn’t share your opinion about a tv show you are excited about and feel the need to Well Actually at them
So, NEWSFLASH: I’m allowed to have a negative opinion. Everyone is. I’m allowed to voice that opinion. You are allowed to Well, Actually at people, but honestly, I’m not changing my opinion, I’m not giving you a medal for your Well, Actually, and I’m not gonna stop saying I fucking hate the way they’re playing Harry Mudd. So maybe the next time you see an inconsequential post you don’t agree with: keep scrolling. Find something better to do with your day like talk to people who agree with you.
MEANWHILE I’M GOING TO KEEP BEING ANNOYED BY HARRY’S LOOK, THE FACT THAT HE ACTUALLY GAVE HIS REAL NAME DESPITE BEING A CHARACTER WITH WARRANTS OUT FOR HIM, AND MAYBE RAINN WILSON’S NOSE HAIR BECAUSE I KNOW THEY’RE THERE!

Seeing all the discourse stuff recently, I have to ask, what is the logic people use when suggesting that asexuality is homophobic? It makes absolutely no sense to me...
That’s because it doesn’t make sense. It runs on the claim that if you’re not a golden star gay, then you’re not good enough.

See, I was raised on Star Wars - I never really got into Star Trek for some reason (not knocking it, I've a great respect for The Franchise!) - so I’m not completely familiar with Spock’s character beyond what is well known to everyone. But I came to the same conclusion - it’s only logical.
So is it set around the same time then? Are they the same age? I should probably just google it.
I bet they were nightmare kids.

adamisblogging replied to your post: also why tf did star trek discovery and orville...
Nah, they’re totally different. Star Trek Discovery looks like it’s had effort put into it.
idk man. orville definitely has a lower budget, but seth macfarlene is a fan of star trek and respects it enough to make his show really feel like a star trek-esque show.. that being said, i’m not optimistic on how good the show actually is, writing-wise, so we’ll see

Random Fact #2: I can climb basically anything and everything if I put my mind to it. For some reason, going on or in places I’m not supposed to be makes me feel free and powerful.
Random Fact #3: I enjoy macaroni and cheese.

Potential sorta theory about Qrow's semblance, after the apparent good luck scene in Ch14. Do you think there's a possibility that Qrow's semblance, either through the sort of evolution we've seen this volume, or just 'it's been like that the whole time and no one knew', could actual be control OVER luck/chance, and the reason it's always presented as bad luck is because of Qrow's own internal struggles? Not confident or anything, just think it's interesting and wondered what you think?
I think that’s entirely possible, yeah.

I just finished Kamen Rider Build! It was the first Kamen Rider show I tried to watch properly when I was first getting into Toku (your blog gets the credit for that bit), but I never got around to finishing it until now. Glad I've finally got through it. I enjoyed it a lot!
hell yeah

adamisblogging replied to your post “@adamisblogging replied to your post“Am I the only one that sometimes...”
That's what I'm saying. She's not supposed to be quite speaking in the Vulcan way, and not quite in the full emotion of a human. She's in-between, in a way that we haven't seen from other Vulcan/Half-Vulcan characters before. I like to think of it that, while Burnham is an adult, her emotional development is a little younger, because she'd only really been learning to consider her emotions for about seven years.
Idk, I personally think that, especially her delivery in the first scene, just sounded like she was reading something out. So it’s not even really ‘in-between’ in her delivery. But maybe that’s just because they still have to develop shit. Because, Troi in TNG was meant to have an accent that isn’t like any accent before and that didn’t really affect her delivery. Marina Sarkis literally invented her own accent for that role because she is also supposed to be in between. So idk if it has to come at the expense of sounding like you’re not just reading something out. But someone else pointed out it could be because the writers and actors have only just started working together and it is a common thing to see in pilots of shows. So maybe it’s that. We’ll see how her delivery is in the following episodes

At first, I thought Winter would be a stuck up bitch and just as rigid as her father. But, now that I've seen how she treats Weiss and knowing that she loves her younger sister, she is quickly becoming one of my favorites
adamisblogging
I’m really glad Winter turned out to be a lot nicer than I expected. I expected her to be much more like the first few lines, but she seems to genuinely care about Weiss in Chapter 4
emberkyrlee
I’m growing to really like Winter a lot more than I thought. She’s not without her own problematic aspects, but getting to see her alone with Weiss showed the much more redeemable facets of her personality. And I loved it.

Do You Know What I Don’t Understand About Greece?
Greece don’t have any money, right? (that’s not what I don’t understand, that’s just half-arsed context). So, what do the European Government do? They give them money to try and get out of debt. It’s not quite enough money, because they’re so far in debt. So, they’re still in debt. Then the European Government ask for the money back (Because, you know, that’s how loans work). But Greece can’t afford to pay it back, because they’re still in debt. So then, they have to default on the payments, because they’re in debt so they can’t pay back the money that they were given to get out of debt.
So, now they’re faced with the choice to leave the EU or negotiate more loans so they can pay back the debt they have to get out of debt. Make sense yet?
So, basically, Greece are in debt, so they’ve been given money to get them out of debt, which they have to pay back, but they can’t so they’re further in debt, so they’re given more money to get out of debt, which they can’t pay back because they’re so far in debt… I could carry on with this for paragraphs, because it’s just going to go round in circles.
Because debt.
Personally, I think that the best way to sort all this out, in every country, is that everyone chills out, because everyone only owes money to other countries, so all that needs to happen is everyone cancels the debts that they have to pay back to countries so they can pay back to countries that need to pay back countries. If we didn’t have to worry about this bullshit cycle, we’d all be able to actually get to a point where anyone can afford anything and we don’t need the bloody conservatives to burn out crucial systems to the ground so we can afford to pay back all this money!
