Walker scobell spawning

I love how Walker Scobell just appeared one day. He’s acted in only three projects now, all within the last two years, all where he’s the main character. Nothing else. No nepotism. I think someone in Hollywood just said “Yeah I need an angelic little blond boy who watches too many rated R movies, bites people, and swears like a sailor?” and then they found Walker skateboarding in the dumpster out back and went “PERFECT”

Petition to get Ryan Reynolds to play Paul Blofis in the PJO tv show. Sally Jackson deserves an exceptionally hot husband, and Ryan and Walker have such great chemistry in The Adam Project that I just want to watch them work together again. Ryan Reynolds was made to play the clueless but loving and well-meaning stepfather, and tbh if this show gets popular enough I feel like he'd be into it.

BABE THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT. Cyberpunk, even as a tabletop game, revolved around the fact that there is ALWAYS something going on that you don't know about. The whole point of the series is that YOU CAN'T WIN. You, no matter how reknown you become, will be an insignificant cog in the big machinery that is night city, and you will die that way. The entire point is that there's no satisfying way to end it. There is no "good" or "happy" ending because THE WHOLE POINT OF THE SERIES IS HOW FUTILE TRYING TO BEAT THE SYSTEM IS. The most compelling thing about the series is that no matter what choices you make, you lose, and you've got to grapple with that to get to the ending that you consider the best possible outcome, and even then, you won't be happy.

There are no happy endings in Night City.

This was such a powerful moment, and in a Ryan Reynolds movie no less. A father unequivocally tells his son that he loves him. A gushy, weepy, vulnerable, unironic, non-sarcastic, non-apologetic way. At first Reynold’s character tries to deflect in the way we’re used to seeing. “Okay dad, I get it…”

And Mark Ruffalo just keeps pressing in closer, not taking the bait, not letting him look away, not even a smirk or a smile, he projects an earnest and urgent need to be raw and vulnerable with his son.

In the grand scheme it was a simple little scene, but I can’t think of a single movie in my lifetime outside of a gay love story that has two cis men talk to each other like this. And this was in an ACTION movie.

This movie had layers and I don’t want to spoil it, but there’s a lot to be said about trauma, and how men grieve. This is one of the most surprising movies about masculinity I’ve ever seen.
