Tell me a few young Czech players I should be looking out for in the upcoming years? People are always overly attentive to the Canadian, American, and Scandinavian youngsters and others just get the short end of the stick from the media. Is there someone really interesting coming up?

Lately, the Czech youngsters have been the highlight of Czech hockey so there are a lot of names, but I will point out just those that are truly notable in my eyes or don't receive as much recognition as they should:

The Jiříček brothers - David and Adam

Some of you probably know David already, he was drafted 6th overall in 2022 by Columbus and has already played in the big league this season. Massive and skilled defenseman, he is definitely going to become a core player in the Jackets' defense in the near future

His younger brother Adam, who is going to be drafted next year (more than definitely also in the first round), is another huge-ass bloke for his age and not any less talented than David (actually, according to David himself, Adam is the one with more potential out of the two of them) - you can keep an eye out for Adam during this year's Juniors, he is on the roster.

Jiří Kulich

Probably the most promising young Czech center - drafted 28th in 2022 by Buffalo, however, he plays in the AHL for Rochester where he is leading the points. He is 8th overall in the AHL stats as of right now and he is only nineteen years old. Honestly, it blows my mind that Buffalo hasn't given him a chance in the NHL yet this season because he definitely deserves it.

Just like Adam Jiříček - there is a chance he might end up at this year's Juniors in December.

Adam Benák

He is only sixteen, so you will have to wait for his draft till 2025, but oh my bloody hell, this kid is a feisty one, haven't seen one like him since Martin Nečas and Filip Zadina (I know that the Zadina remark is quite an ironic one given how his career is turning out so far, but Filip was genuinely the most talented one out of that year back then, even more promising than Nečas). He is playing in the Czech league, just like Adam Jiříček, so it might be harder for you to keep up with them, but just remember his name for the future because he is insanely creative and driven for his age.

Lukáš Dostál

He is finally receiving the recognition he deserves - as you may have noticed he was awarded the Rookie of the Month recently - because until now people (and especially those in Anaheim) were downright sleeping on him. He has been an outstanding goaltender in my eyes ever since the 2018 Juniors and right now he is the best Czech goalie alongside Karel Vejmelka from Arizona in the NHL, in my opinion. Pity both of them are stuck goaltending for teams that are miserable.
