Hmmm. Literally any/all of the Bad Kids and hand/wrist pain that they can’t tell if it’s something that would go away with rest and time or if it is just their reality now, but also so many of them have hobbies or classes that rely on using their hands so taking a break from that would be really hard if not impossible

yall ever have headcanons for the bad kids that youve fabricated from thin air???

bc ive convinced myself that fabian paints (like specifically realism) and/or plays the violin (rich kid shit)

fabian, riz and adaine have all started a mini bookclub where they each choose a book like every month to read (fabien usually chooses horrific romances, riz picks mysteries and adaine probably picks the widest range but sticks to (what would be for them) historical fiction)

gorgugs house is designated hang out place, digby and wilma dont mind them being there and its bigger than rizs apartment, less busy than mordrid manor and as much as fabians house is the biggest its less homey/cosy

kristen has started mandating 'mental check in nights' once a month, they play games, get takeaway and talk just to kinda check in yk (this mainly came around from all of them being absolutely terrible at telling/asking each other stuff whether mental health related or not)

hi, fun arianwen moment from when adaine is running away in ep 13 of freshman year that totally doesn't realign her character for me bc i forgot about it :)

I'm in the process of rewatching Freshman Year for the first time since I started this whole journey.

I remembered the first bit. Arianwen saying Angwyn isn't a "practical caster" is one of the foundations of my whole vision.

I didn't remember sorry. She's such a fascinating character and I feel like this is the small look past the mask we got through two seasons. Who is she Brennan?

hiding in the bathroom at my job and watching fhjy finale pt2 and thinking about what hobbies the bad kids do so. here you are

adaine: programming!!!! she also writes poetry sometimes. and she likes to research her hyperfixations and write essays on them (nerd /aff). also meditation, which she started when her anxiety was really bad and continues still even though she’s doing better in that front

riz: cooking, during the times he is not hyperfixated on his investigations (said times are few and far between, but sklonda and his friends are fighting the never ending battle of helping him not always be burnt out lol. which means they eat Lots of nice homemade meals)

kristen: she is the artist of the bad kids. her favored mediums are watercolor and sculpture. she has painted all the bad kids many times and her art is hung up everywhere in mordred and her friends houses

gorgug: besides drumming, he is always taking things apart and building new contraptions. he and adaine like to work on computers together. he also doodles a lot

fig: tbh her biggest hobby is writing/practicing her songs, but she also likes customizing her clothes and making patches and accessories. all the other bad kids have customized clothes from her. also skateboarding!! she does a bunch of cool (dangerous) tricks

fabian: i mean canonically he does a fuckton of expensive rich kid hobbies like calligraphy and glassblowing lol, and dance and fencing ofc. i think he also likes to try out his friends hobbies, so he’s adequate at a bunch of those things. except programming he can’t do that 🫶🫶

IVE COMPLETED THE SET

my aged up (about 10yrs) Bad Kids!!

Made them for a fic idea originally but it really spiraled from there. 12 ocs and 3 dogs later I have emerged victorious but at what cost

Personal highlights (aka my fav headcanons bc where else am I gonna put them) under the cut

- Gorgug works at aguefort and hes a LOT of kids awakenings. Hot gorgug i will die on this hill

- sort of related he has three incredible partners rn (two long term, and a newer boyf)

- counselor Kristen! She works with kids with religious issues a lot

- one of kris's younger siblings became a trans woman (and a transmutation wizard ;) ) and the other one is annoying as hell arcane trickster

- horse girl adaine no i will not take criticism

- college dropout adaine (She's oracle she doesn't need that shit)

- aerial silks performer -> choreographer fabian

- fig dresses obnoxiously touristy and has started a million hobbies

- fig and riz have been psychologically torturing agent Clark for years, it's their bonding activity (Clark is so close to going insane)

- service dog for riz!! Also riz is one hundy p hot. Still aroace as hell but he takes after his dad looks wise.

This might be controversial, but I'd actually be pretty excited if Fig does switch to Paladin/Warlock. I'll be sad about her not being a Bard anymore, but I don't think she needs to be a bard to make music and find joy in that.

When we first meet Fig, she's a scared and lonely teenage girl. Her whole life has been turned upside down over the course of a summer, so music is an outlet for her. She can't trust her mom or Gilear, she doesn't have any friends, she's so alone.

And then she meets the Bad Kids, who over and over do things to help her or just be with her. Gorgug learns to play drums with her, Fabian buys her a guitar pick, Adaine sent a Nat 20 into Hell after her, Kristen keeps her protected in twilight, Riz killed a man to make sure he wouldn't hurt them.

Before the Bad Kids, Fig had no one that she could trust to have her back but herself. She's got a lot of feelings that have nowhere to go. She's miserable. But now, she has people she would lay down her life for. They know her, even the stuff she'd rather they didn't. And they love her for the things she doesn't feel she should be accepted for. Deriving her power from the bonds she's formed with the people she loves is honestly so poetic and so true to her character.

I also, again, don't think she needs to be a Bard to love music. I love writing stories, but I'm probably not going to be an author. Having a hobby, or even fully a passion that you explore on your own time, is healthy. I hope she continues with music, but deriving power from how much you love your friends is really beautiful.

Adaine definitely took up crochet or knitting over a winter break and ended up drafting spells like an improved mage hand to work on multiple projects at once

When Adaine began the process of therapy with Jawbone, one of the first things he suggested was that she find something to do to destress. Growing up, “hobbies” hadn’t been common in the Abernant family. After all, something to do in your free time necessitated, well, having free time. And why would you fill time (endless, immortal time) with something inherently unproductive, when you could be studying? 

But when her anxiety crept up behind her and gripped the back of her throat in a chokehold, when she couldn’t think or work from the sheer stress of doing so, Jawbone had suggested she find an outlet for her tension. 

She tried a few things but nothing really stuck. Besides, it was junior year. She was busy. She was stressed and her anxiety meds weren’t helping, but she didn’t have time to focus on that. During winter break, before they even begun packing for Fallinel, Adaine and Kristen had been hanging out in Kristen’s room so Adaine could help Kristen write an essay.

She sat down on Kristen’s bed and was shocked by the softness of the top blanket. Kristen noticed and smiled. The blanket was one of her only possessions from her family, something her mother had knitted for her a long time ago. Kristen noted how much Adaine liked the texture and told her that she had some needles from when her mom tried to get her into knitting. She hadn’t really enjoyed it, but she offered the needles and some yarn to Adaine, and helped her find tutorial videos on CrystalTube.

Adaine spent the ensuing days learning to knit. Her first attempts were very bad, little more than tangled balls of yarn in vague lumped shapes. But she liked the repetition of it, liked seeing the way the patterns took shape. She liked the predictability of knowing what the end product should look like. 

Her first proper knitting project was a purple and yellow hat that she shyly presented to Kristen. I know it’s not very good, but— 

Adaine barely got the words out before Kristen jammed the hat on her head and tackled her in a hug. It’s perfect.

Her second proper knitting project, she gave to Aelwyn. A grey hat with cat ears and face on the front. Aelwyn had laughed when she’d first presented it to her, and then proceeded to wear it every day for weeks on end.

With Ayda’s help, she modified a Mage Hand cantrip into what they called Majestically Munificent Multiple Mage Hands (because they liked the way all the M’s sounded together, even if it was redundant. “We enjoy it, and every word serves a meaning in the spell’s description,” Ayda said. “And even if the words are not all necessarily required, our enjoyment of the way it sounds can be compounded with basic utility. Therefore, we should keep them all.” Adaine hadn’t seen a flaw in the reasoning.)

M-M-M-H allowed Adaine to summon two Mage Hands that, by the spell’s parameters, needed to stay within 6 feet of each other. This way, she could knit with magic and work on multiple projects at once, or work on something else while she knitted. 

So Adaine knits now. When she’s stressed, before she goes to bed, after she’s finished her homework or when she needs a break from it, sometimes even when she wakes up. 

She knits hats, scarves, sweaters, blankets. She knits for her friends. She knits for her family. But most of all, she knits for herself.

I felt bad for possibly asking too many- and I'm content with the ones I asked, but Fig Faeth is truly my favorite character and I'm constantly looking for new content for her- I JUST CANT NOT DO ITTTTT

she is so fucking scared of being known, which is so hard when she's doing something as big as music where her face and her persona are one of the selling points. she just really struggles cuz of how much she was forced to change and being percieved as someone else or even as her true self is just terrifying to her

she loves popping her and stretching her joints so they make so much noise, sitting in truly what most be the most uncomfortable positions but she says she likes it cuz it's a nice stretch

the world could be ending and she would not wake up. she is such a heavy sleeper ever since she stopped trying to trance cuz it barely worked for her to begin with. can fall asleep anywhere

like our boy riz she is also a huge acts of service girly. she will hunt your banker for you, she will be your guard dog, she will become a paladin for a forgotten god like she will do it all cuz she loves her friends so much.

one thing about fig is that the second she gets like, really good at something to the point of it almost becoming a job it stops being fun for her. so she loves hobbies that she's a little bad at. she can't sew but she loves making patches and buttons for her and her friends even if it just kinda shitty painting on fabric and then asking Kristen to sew it on for her or hot gluing bottle caps with safety pins

fig is not really a date person, not a typical romance in general, but she does do the typical date stuff with ayda just cuz she wants to show her the like, typical teen deal and what's associated with it aka dates to kroms or to the ice cream shop. she mainly just likes spending time with ayda no matter the circumstances

she grew up with Baxter and she loves him so much. like she was a baby sitting on his back and holding too tight on his feathers and jumping and crawling all over him just like she loves him so much he's basically the family dog

😬 A headcanon about the worst thing they’ve done

fig is really hard for this question cuz she does tend to be pretty intentional in her actions but like, still is a dumb teen who makes dumb teen choices quite a bit. a big one that stands out is her first interaction with ayda and being kinda fantasy rascist

Zac: "Right."

Siobhan: "I was gonna game it, but then Emily made me feel bad about it, so-"

Emily: "No, I didn't! I didn't say anything to you about it!"

Siobhan: "No, you were like, 'I'm gonna take real things,' and then I was like, 'Well, I can't take disadvantage in-'"

Emily: "Okay, so it was my existence."

Brennan: "It was merely Emily's example, committing to the system."

Siobhan: "Yes, Emily did such a good job that I felt like I had to step up my game and take things that actually affected me."

Emily: "Well, I took it- 'cause you said if we weren't proficient, I had one, so you said if we weren't proficient, we had to take two, so I wanted to take Insight. In the 'Adventuring Party', I said I think I'm in a place where I'm not listening to my gut. All the stress is making me very indecisive. So that was Insight, and then I think also, this paladin curiosity, there's more pressure on it, and it's not coming to me as naturally as normal, so I think Religion is gonna be the other disadvantage."

Brennan: "Love it."

Emily: "I've never wanted to be good at something before. I've just accidentally been good at it. So that's why. There's stress with it now."

Brennan: "It's the intermediate slump where you go from beginner's luck into actually learning technique and having to get good at something."

Emily: "'Cause there's stakes. I need to do this for Kristen."

Brennan: "Zac, where's Gorgug's stress going?"

Zac: "So I have three stress tokens, meaning... I think I'm gonna do one in Initiative rolls."

Emily: "Oh."

Zac: "'Cause I'm already... I never roll good on Initiative anyway. I feel like that's fine. And then I'm gonna do the lobster bisque."

Siobhan: "You get a salad with that."

Zac: "Would you guys have some?"

Siobhan: "Yeah."

Lou: "I'd have a nibble."

Siobhan: "Yeah, I'd share a lobster bisque with you any day, Zac."

Brennan: "Hell yeah."

Brennan: "That lack of initiative, you are a distracted, stressed kid."

Zac: "What? Okay."

Siobhan: "I'm also gonna do Initiative, 'cause I feel like Adaine's just in that, like, *gasps* 'Huh? What?' Very much in her own head."

Brennan: "We're just gonna go to SW5E and steal the scholar class again and just make you a politician."

Ally: "Please, please!"

Brennan: "Please, please. And Riz?"

Murph: "I took disadvantage in four skills. I took disadvantage in Perception, because I feel like Riz is still good at Investigation and everything, but he's really in his head, so he's probably not noticing things around him. Survival, not taking good care of himself. Athletics, he was already not athletic, but he's even less so, and then Deception, 'cause I don't think he could pull off lying right now while he's so high strung."

Brennan: "So you've picked four of your non-proficient skills that are all disadvantage now."

Murph: "Yes."

Brennan: "Meaty, meaty choices across the board."
