Credit to @adaesthete “Occupying the looming old Bow Street Magistrates’ Courts, where Oscar Wilde was tried for ‘gross indecency’ in 1895, [the new @nomadlondon] features a lush bar and dining space called the Fireplace Room. Located off the jungle-like atrium (the former police yard) and wrapped with a blossoming @zuberofficial wallpaper, ‘it is a jewel of a space, an interpretation of a garden that you enter from a real garden room, stepping from something grand into something that’s almost a whisper, which is a guiding principle of our work,’ says Robin Standefer of AD100 firm @roman_and_williams_ , which blended bleached English oak, blue velvet, and, yes, a vast fireplace.” See the new issue of AD for the rest of the story. 📸 @simonuptonphotos ▫️ ▪️ ▫️ ▪️ ▫️ #ooft #tasty #style #creative #fashion #art #interiordesign #aesthetic #refined #impression #expression #balance #individuality #philosophy #kaizen #spirituality #psychology #design #famouswhendead https://www.instagram.com/p/CLuAQhRArzu/?igshid=1ibhqc4va7jnc

Repost from @archdigest Inside the Lake Tahoe cabin that has been in her family since the 1960s, textile designer @nathaliefarmanfarma outfitted the wood-paneled rooms with sprigged cottons from her own line, Décors Barbares, Turkey-red painted furniture, and framed studies of Russian traditional clothing. From @archdigestpro: Inspired by the handsomely outfitted Roman military tents of ancient times, tented rooms became fashionable during the reign of French emperor Napoléon I, especially as decorators took inspiration from his army’s successful campaigns in Egypt and elsewhere. One of Napoléon’s field tents, for example, was a fetching combination of blue-and-white-striped canvas on the outside, flowered cotton on the inside, and leopard-spot carpeting. The romance of tented rooms remains potent today. Above, fashion designer @adamlippes and his life partner, @mrfarnsworth, installed a small tented room for hanging out in their Brooklyn Heights apartment, using a Richard Smith print of birds in trees. Learn how tented rooms became design's most comforting—and timeless—decorating device through the link in our profile. 🤣🤣🤣 #Repost @adaesthetic with @get_repost ・・・ Jumping in for this week’s #homwork with @homsweethom and @nim_br by taking an inspirational quote and bringing it down to earth with a snarky dark twist. I like to think of this as the adulting version of the song. 🤷🏻♀️😂 . . . #adaesthetic #morivationalquotes

Credit to @nicolehollissf “People are appalled that I painted it black, but there was never a question: I knew I would do that.” So says interior designer Nicole Hollis, discussing her bold decision to darken the beige façade of her 1870s San Francisco house. Coats of Benjamin Moore’s Black Tar were applied to the exterior, a shade as inky as its name, and yet it strangely intensifies the Italianate building’s ornate surfaces rather than blots them out.” Click the link in our profile to see the full article of our home in @archdigest Photography by @douglasfriedman Text by @adaesthete New book from @rizzolibooks #CURATEDINTERIORS arriving 10/6.
