🔆Solaris🔆
Velvety red wine hues that lovingly stared deep into yours already communicated the long kept confession. Fluffy royal red hair tickling both sides of your face. A good amount of his perfume feeding your nose. It was a mixture of plum and faint vanilla.
You closed your eyes in anticipation of what was to come. Placing his soft thumb onto your lower lip and gently pushing it downwards only for it to pop back up again. Such a small detail made the flame in this reincarnation of the sun burn brighter.
Leaning in to capture those pretty lips with his own, pleasure and satisfaction shot through both your bodies like electricity. You felt his hands hold your waist and pull you in, your hands slowly trailing upwards feeling his broad chest.
The kiss led to your body temperature rising. It felt hot all around, how could you handle such heat. Honey, you had guts to close in and allow your lips to meet the sun and expect it not to burn you.
Fortunately you are his equal, the burning Sun God needs a Goddess to absorb and reflect his heat and light. In a heartbeat you'd trade anything for just a little burn.
Bon Appétit!

This is so funny because just today I was hoping you would upload a new chapter and immediately when I check Tumblr you updated. I swear we share the same mind! Anyways u love chapter 12 pookie, Damian is very much self reflecting in his own way slowly but surely but I want to know, who is out off all the batfam the worst yandere because in my opinion I think its either Jason or Alfred.
Phone format, Chapter mentioned: 13. Damian attempts self-reflection
This is actually very funny, because I update whenever I have a random burst of inspiration for this story. (Its also why the chapters are often short or multiple after each other because I go from writing to no motivation to sudden motivation). And sometimes I just take days or weeks to write.
But the worst yandere...
Honestly? It depends from which angle you look at it.
When it comes to betrayal? Tim (also delusional). Especially since he knows what it's like to be neglected, he knows how much damage it brings and you thought you would have some solidarity with him. You don't care for his reasons, you simply care for his actions.
When it comes to possessiveness, Damian and Jason. For obvious reasons, Damian has an obsession with blood relations and Jason's possessiveness is actually a plot line so I can't spoil too much. But he basically sees you as a better version of his mother that he failed to protect and keep alive before, so now he wants to ensure you cannot leave them. Because if you leave you'll be like his mother. And you don't want that now do you?
When it comes to protectiveness, Cass, Bruce and Barbara. Cass feels immense guilt for ignoring your pain, so she'll attempt to shield you from more even if it means kidnapping you or locking you up. Barbara is in the same boat but also because she knows how hard it was at first to become disabled, so she feels guilt for not being there for you. And Bruce is Bruce, with his obsessive plans, his canon nature is already a bit shit, his yandere side just makes it all worse. And when it comes to protectiveness? Eventually you'll won't be able to breath without someone monitoring you if he had his way.
When it comes to delusional Alfred, Dick and Stephanie. We've all seen how Alfred acts, like a piece of shit and he honestly thinks your behaviour is just a fase. Dick feels the need to protect everyone and to be loved by everyone, so he's mainly delusional. He makes himself think that you do love them and still want to be with them (you don't). Stephanie doesn't really want to acknowledge how she has hurt you, so she pretends you guys are okay but she feels the need to keep you (in a sense) so that you'll no longer get hurt.
The easiest would be Duke.
Duke knows what you want, so he'll always take your side. Especially with your past and his own morals. Duke doesn't throw away what he stands for simply because he feels an obsessive need to protect you or to lock you up. No. But he might come with you to everything check if everything is safe and then pretend to leave but he's actually just stalking at a respectful distance and out of sight (from everyone !!!)
I also would like to note that there is no such thing as respectful stalking in real life. Fiction doesn't equate to what's healthy in real life. also you got happy because I updated? Pls, you've made my day, I needed that before my exam tomorrow.

as someone who can see the appeal of cnc but is also wary of the more serious side of the spectrum, i’m always cautious when a man or masc-presenting person is super into it or fantasizing about it. probably because it’s too real and can easily just be a means of them trying to abuse their own power as a human.
other than consent of course, what are some things that help give away the fact that they’re into it for fun and not causing any real harm?
Hey gang, revival from the dead (temporarily)
This is a really good question. I haven’t talked to many people on the dom side that’s into CNC so I can only answer from my perspective.
In my opinion, see if they can exist without it. Can they do other things and be super into or even more into it than CNC. Me personally, I can. I absolutely love cute and cuddly aspects of a dynamic just as if not even more than the hard dom stuff. Dynamics in this community are a GIVE AND TAKE and if all they do is force kinks like CNC onto them, it is not a good dynamic.
I understand some subs will say “I want you to use me and degrade me” and stuff and that no situation is the same. But, in my experience, even a a the “free use” subs have times where they are either:
-Not in the mood
-Wanna be cuddled
I cannot speak for everyone and I won’t, but this is generally how it goes. Knowing if a dom is respecting of time constraints, situations, and even just current mood is a good indicator if they’re into it for fun or might actually be a super unique individual trying to catch jail time.
I’ll write a post about (in my opinion) good and bad sub/dom dynamics

Hey, I hope this doesn't bother you but I'd like to make an enasone but I'm not sure how, would you mind giving me some tips? Like, how do I choose the emotions on each side?
(If you see this same ask on other blogs it's because I like to have a variety of opinions to see which one I like the most/makes the most sense/helps me the most)
Hello! And no worries! This is actually my most asked question across all my socials, hehe. But there’s no avoiding it now, so without further a do:
Making an ENAsona
DISCLAIMER: This is in no way, shape, or form, a concrete nor canon guide to making ENAs. Whether it be in Joel’s, mine, or your own canons, there is no right nor wrong way to make an ENA! What matters most is your— ideally happy and healthy— resonance with the characters you make!
Choosing Emotions
My ENAs may express emotions, but they are not defined by emotions or singular traits, as I like to draw from ironies, arguments, and niche dichotomies and their connotations.

NOTE: The signs I’ve assigned are based on instinctual perception rather than conclusive fact or opinion.
As for where these pairs even come from, there are a few ways of going about sourcing them:
Extremes — given a base, which in this case is Faith, you pick the absolute best and worst ends of its (connotative) spectrum. The further these ends are, the more conflicted or erratic your ENA will be. However, you have to keep in mind that you still have to communicate your base with the halves. Otherwise, each half would feel haphazardly stitched together.

Adjacents — given the same base, you have both ends adopt similar (leaning) connotations. In this case, a double negative may imply a radical cult leader, while a double positive may imply something akin to martyrdom. The issue with this one is picking ends that are too close to each other. For example, angry-sad reads as less effective than grudge-guilt.

Writing Lore
Not that it’s necessary, but if you ever feel like you have to over-explain your fanon character and or have more to say that your design can’t, cave to writing lore. I cannot exactly divulge all of my thought processes for my spin-off because that’d kill the fun, but I will say that mostly everything goes explained in my context versus just Joel’s. I really am super into world-building, so I did end up having my own thing, but not everyone has to have one! I will say, however, there are universal themes within the AU that help me choose halves for my ENAs, so if you can’t think of a pair visually or on the fly, maybe you can find one in writing!
Designing the Character
The net connotation of the pair you’ve chosen can do a lot to drive the design. Fugi, for example, with her net-negative connotation, reads as aggressive and even evil! I hadn’t even stated nor confirmed that she was an antagonist, but everyone got the impression that she was one, so be sure to take advantage of your connotations and work on communicating them to your viewer through your design!
Design Logic
I suppose if you want to be more faithful to canon, you would abide by the right-poly-left-smooth body type, but! Who’s stopping you from adding more faces and curves? That is with respect to resolution if you want to keep the Joel feel. Here’s Ina’s torso as an example— Oh, and the bottom faces of my skirt designs do stretch and scale to accommodate movement.

Special Designs
My special designs are more lore relevant than they are gimmicky, and I honestly can’t give too much away because that would also mean spoiling my lore, but I do like to have things special to each character as an added identifier, especially since ENAs are designed to look pretty alike. That combined with my AU, and everything'd have a plot and purpose!
I hope this helps, and if it doesn’t, uh oops! Oh, and do have fun and take care! No stress, no pressure! :)

YOU GET IT. This book is really about Harry's relationship to Snape and foreshadowing that Snape's betrayal isn't all it seems to be. The Slughorn party scene makes me angry actually because Snape’s only purpose in it is to be the straight man in a comedy bit. He serves no narrative purpose (even the message he conveys has no purpose - it’s not like Dumbledore was cancelling an appointment, he’s just saying “we had no plans to meet and continue to not have any. k bye” but doing it through Snape for... some fucking reason ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). In the film ABOUT HIM where he’s only in four scenes one of them renders Snape’s presence narratively functionless. He's in that scene so the audience can get a laugh when McClaggen pukes on his shoes (and the timing of that whole bit is painfully clumsy and slow, because the films don't respect the audience's intelligence and assume them to be clumsy and slow too).
And you know what, I know I didn’t include the Sectumsempra scene and I’ll tell you why: because what’s the point? Snape shows up and says nothing. He heals Draco. He doesn’t hold Harry accountable???????? He doesn’t guess how Harry knew this uncharacteristically dark spell that isn't taught in class or punish Harry or even ask him “hey so about this student who’s bleeding to death in this bathroom where the only other person was you?” Snape's purpose in that scene is to fix Harry's mistake. Which is the complete antithesis of how he relates to Harry.
I’m frothing at the mouth at how Steve Kloves went out of his way to strip this scene of any substance for no discernible reason other than to handicap his own plot and character development??? Severus FUCKING Snape, who spends every book antagonizing and punishing Harry, just lets him go and fixes his near-fatal fuck-up without a word????? And Harry “slashed up a fellow student” Potter just walks away and is like, “that was messier than the time I fully murdered a teacher in my first year but anyway, guess I better do as Ginny says and go with her to hide this book, maybe we can hook up after,” and that’s just… fine. Which tracks with the rest of Kloves' sloppy writing, since he doesn't show Harry getting attached to the book, let alone the Prince, he just carries it around and reads it sometimes. And even when he does that we don't see him get immersed in it, he's still fully aware of what's going on around him and actively participating in conversations while perusing it. If you watch this film (or any of them) and think about every scene in the context of "what if I hadn't read the book and didn't have the understanding it gave me for what's happening or the emotional attachment to the characters" then you'll see how Kloves took a vibrant, colorful landscape and turned it into a hand-drawn cardboard cutout.
The purpose the Sectumsempra scene serves in the book is manifold and complex:
Harry's trust in the Prince is shaken and he sees an ugly side to this unknown person he's anthropomorphized into a kind of friend.
This is paralleled with Snape appearing at that exact moment, because foreshadowing.
Harry, who at the end of the previous book wanted and failed to use an Unforgiveable on Bellatrix Lestrange, experiences what it is to enact violence on someone for the first time and is deeply shaken by it.
Snape DISCOVERS THAT HARRY HAS HIS OLD POTIONS BOOK.
Snape, who suggested expulsion in Harry's second year for being seen flying a car across the country and into the Whomping Willow, punishes him for attempted manslaughter with nightly detentions. I need a whole other post to unpack this one (and while this may not work for the film, the solution isn't to scrap Harry being punished altogether - that goes against Snape's character and eliminates possibilities for tension, exposition, and plot development, not to mention character development).
Harry chooses to hide the book in the Room of Requirement and hand Snape Ron's book instead. This is a crucial moment for Harry's character development: he hides the book with the goal of retrieving it later, because despite the Prince's violent betrayal, he doesn't reject him and is still attached to him [insert meta about the potential parallels to Lily's friendship with Snape, what she saw in him, and why they remained friends for some time even when Snape became more immersed in the Dark Arts]. In fact, Harry wants to go back and get it, and his main reason for not doing so is fear of discovery by Snape, not a rejection of the Prince. This is a hugely important moment once you realize that Snape is the Prince, because it makes Harry's relationship to him - and his view of Snape's betrayal when he kills Dumbledore - much more complex and interesting and cathartic. It also shows that Snape has redeemable qualities, if Harry was able to become so attached to his younger self (the one who was an aspiring DE, before he defected and risked his life to save a friend, at that).
Snape's realization that Harry has his old Potions book is what leads to the moment after Dumbledore's death where Snape reveals his identity as the Prince. If he didn't know Harry had his old book and had learnt from it, why would he do this?
The purpose of the Sectumsempra scene in the film, though? Imprisonable offence after imprisonable offence. Writer's jail for Kloves:
Harry and Malfoy have it out, even though that tension hasn't really been built up (there was the Hogwarts Express scene and then not much after. Fun fact: when Draco gets caught gatecrashing Slughorn's party, it's done without having set up in any way that he's overlooked by Slughorn and insecure about losing his social standing due to his dad's imprisonment. There's zero attention given to his lack of inclusion in the Slug Club, so the fact he's using gatecrashing as an excuse to cover for sneaking off to the RoR is impossible for the viewer to understand, because the fact that he'd need to gatecrash at all is also unexplained, unless they had context from the books).
Snape saves Malfoy, but since neither character has had much screen time or relevance to the plot, it's just a striking visual to see Malfoy splayed on the water logged floor with Snape's robes swirling around them but not much more. Again, without the context from the books, this moment lacks substance.
There are no repercussions for Harry. He and his friends acknowledge that the book is dangerous, but Harry isn't punished, doesn't try to make amends, and basically acts like the self-involved special little boy Snape makes him out to be and who the books show him to be the opposite of. He doesn't seem all that conflicted or horrified and doesn't even hide the book on his own, his friends push him to get rid of it, and he goes to do it because it's a way to hang out with Ginny - who hides it on his behalf, which signals very different things about Harry's character than Book!Harry's choices do. The purpose of hiding the book in the film isn't so Harry can try and get it back later because he's still attached to the Prince, it's so he can be alone with Ginny and they can kiss, which Ginny instigates because Steve Kloves does nothing better than write passive protagonists who don't have to lift an emotional finger (see: Harry going along with being told to hide book instead of choosing to do so himself), and female characters who do all the heavy (and weirdly subservient? I'm looking at you Ginny feeding Harry and tying his shoes at the Burrow) lifting.
Nothing about this scene gives us even a remote hint that Snape is the Prince. When, at the end of the film, Snape reveals that he's the Half-Blood Prince, there is no context for it in the film or reasonable cause for him to know that Harry knows who the Half-Blood Prince even is. It's like if Ron walked up to someone on the street when he was 40 and said "yes, I am Roonil Wazlib." This revelation hasn't been set up, all its foreshadowing has been deliberately avoided, so it doesn't land with the impact it has in the books and definitely doesn't have the same effect if you haven't read the book first.
In short, in the film about Snape, and Harry's unwitting relationship with him, the scene where the biggest clue is given about the Prince's identity and one of the most crucial interactions between Harry and Snape happens, Snape is a sidebar, not a feature. So I don't count it as a Snape scene. He doesn't even have any dialogue aside from vulnera sanentur. Poor Alan Rickman was doing his best to do right by Snape's character with his acting even though the script gave him literally nothing. I hope every bowl of soup Steve Kloves eats for the rest of his life is cold and unsalted. Unless it's gazpacho. Then I hope it's scalding hot and burns his tongue.
Canon: Harry overhears Malfoy intimidating Borgin and figures out that he's been branded with the Dark Mark
Steve Kloves: Harry sees Malfoy meet a bunch of Death Eaters in Borgin and Burkes and figures out it was a ceremony to give Malfoy a Dark Mark
No but what I love about the movie version of events is that it implies that any Death Eater can brand anyone with the Dark Mark or, even better, that Voldemort was there in Borgin and Burkes and no one saw or heard him and he just popped into a shop in Knockturn Alley, tatooted a kid, and peaced out. I know I talk a lot about how Rowling (boo, hiss) was thoughtless with her world building, but she has nothing on Steve Kloves. I'm pretty sure he wrote those scripts with a crayon stuck between his toes.
#have I mentioned how much I hate Steve Kloves#because I do#a lot#this is also why it bothers me so much when people criticize Alan Rickman's Snape#because it's usually either because of his age which... look at literally every character from that generation in the films#but i've talked about that before and no one's ever come up with a realistic fan cast from the late 90s/early 00s#sorry that studio films are made the way they are but them's the breaks and frankly it's better to have seasoned actors play#lesser characters who are significant because it's actually really hard to convey depth with only a few lines#do you have any idea of the character work that went into roles that are onscreen for a total of three minutes? apparently not#I genuinely think a lot of people get so mired in fandom they forget that their personal fantasy isn't always achievable by real life actor#you may be able to visualize an actor in a role but they're not going to do the same thing on screen that they do in your head#ask any film director because that's a hard lesson they had to learn on their first film and work with#the other thing I see people criticize Rickman for is not playing Snape like he is in the books and it makes me mad because it's not the#actor's fault it's the writing it's the writing it's the fucking writing please stop holding actors accountable for the shoddy work of#people who are less visible but just as impactful#'Rickman wasn't feral enough' ok please show me the moments where his feral moments from the books are included in the films#I'm waiting#still waiting#gonna be waiting forever because they aren't there#how do you expect an actor to portray something that isn't in the script#does the McGonagall fandom also hate on Maggie Smith for telling Filch to lock the Slytherins to the dungeons in DH or#I'm keeping this in the tags because I respect that everyone has different opinions and it's no skin off my nose if someone doesn't#like an actor or their performance#but I do have strong feelings about people not appreciating hard work and skill and years of training for the sake of their blorbo being#how they see them in their head#in the entire history of the performing arts no actor has ever performed a role exactly as the writer envisioned it#it's a collaboration between writer actor director and producer and the thing that makes me mad is the way fandom has a tendency to#ignore that complex relationship and process and instead petulantly go 'well it's not what I wanted so it's worthless'#like do you hear yourself? you can dislike a thing but still have respect for it#except for Steve Kloves he gets no respect because he's an untalented hack who clearly doesn't work at his craft

Part 3 of fanfic writer/fan art drawer reader.. What do you think is the reaction of other villains to the fanfics? I feel like since reader already wrote fanfics of the batfams.. She'd include the people that knows them.. Like Superman x Lex Luther or Batman x Superman x Lex Luther.. Basically, stuff like that..
I want to know the reaction of the villains and their opinion of reader. (We already know that joker likes reader)
-🔱
I hear your Lex x Superman, and I raise you, Omega!Batman x Alpha!Penguin (I'm already laughing, can't see the screen from the tears btw.)
We're talking about this part one and this part two it's just crack. Pure fun.
Ok- first, Lexy- I think he's the type of person that by 10 pm he's dead to the world, not counting events and the few times he wakes up and needs to complete his weekly scheming, so, at 3 am on the clock, he wakes up sweating full of dread as he remembers that ONE time a student of some university he spoke at asked about him being in love with Superman.
The reason he gave? A specific fic written by one jokergagglingbatsballs35, where they go into detail on how his obsessive tendency of fighting Superman is clearly just the same yearning that Joker has for Batman. If he wasn't busy with the constant PR problems and his plans against Superman, he would have found you before the Joker. In the end, he doesn't, but the event still haunts him.
On the other hand, Superman is just digging their holes tbh. "Oh, we used to be friends, actually." and "I wish we still were," and xyz is just making the people who read the fanfics think that jokergagglingbatsballs35 is a 40 years old psychologist who sees right through everyone and just found a way to call it what it is without being sued.
Harley, if asked, she'll lie to your face, but she is the biggest Batman x Joker shipper as a guilty pleasure (she wants to see Joker being thrown around like a ragdoll) but her favorites are the Catwoman x Ivy x Harley fics batsis writes.
Selina and Pamela don't really care, but Selina has read one fanfiction regarding Batsy x Joker you wrote and had to put her phone down because from 8 pm it turned into 9 am and she had to reconsider her life choices.
You'd never write the sirens x Batman because you respect the girlies too much and don't think your father is capable of a stable relationship with one of them, let alone a polycule. BUT you do write Bruce Wayne x Two-Face.
Harvey doesn't care, he's heard his men whisper about it, but he brushes it off as something bored teens do to stir drama(which, he is right about).
Now, you've written exactly one Penguin x Batman, Omegaverse, Angst No Comfort, Major Character Death, and after you finished it, you had to take a week break for your mental health.
Cobblepot knows. He's read it out of morbid curiosity and has learned terms he wishes he hadn't. He's impressed and terrified and has buried the knowledge deep in the back of his mind. Now, every time Joker is mentioned, he shivers or twitches.
There's no way Waylon or Bundy know what is going on the internet, or what the internet is, respectively, and you honestly ship them with therapy.
...
John Constantine follows you on every social media and leaves likes on every x John Constantine you write, almost shed a tear on the King Shark x him, enemies to lovers to enemies you wrote. He also reads the Batman x Joker ones when Bruce annoys him.
Slade only knows about you because one of your edits ended up on the news, and he almost choked on the Chinese takeout he was eating. He doesn't care that much, but if those edits of him being the badass turn into a fail compilation of him tripping over his feet while walking, he'll have a bone to pick.
Jason has a mental breakdown when Red Hood starts being tagged into your Red Hood x Joker fic, and stupidly tries to go to you for comfort, only to be told to grow up.
If a Robin/Nightwing x Slade fic got popular, not yours specifically, any in general, Dick is puting Jason's breakdown to shame- he will cry and then try to go out for a "talk" after he finds who wrote it.
Speaking of- I mentioned how Cassandra already knows, the second to know is Duke. He's in denial. Steph knows because Cass was sloppy one day after you were "kidnapped" by Joker and it slipped her tongue. It was all the blonde needed to jump from the "yeah, that's fucked up" boat into the "this the best shit ever" boat.
Damian, Barbara, and Alfred are "too old"™️for such childish things. Alfred knows. He knew as soon as he found you furiously typing away on your laptop, and all you could say was "Omegaverse penguin x batman".
Dick, Jason, and Bruce find out at the same time, but by that time you're already in metropolis and planning to change your name and buy a little house in the country side somewhere.
I, however, feel batsis has bad luck, and someone would notice her and question it- maybe a Super being like "heyyy... You look oddly familiar. Have I seen you anywhere?" And batsis is just smiling and sweating bullets as she tries to keep her heart in check, knowing damn well they've met at a gala or in the batcave. "Nope."

I love sharing opinions no one asked for, so here’s one that will absolutely get me on Tumblr’s naughty list: Jily shippers are insufferable, and they need to learn to leave the rest of us alone.
Now, before the pitchforks come out, let’s get one thing straight: I have nothing against Lily Evans and James Potter. Adorable couple. Tragic love story. The whole series literally exists because they got together, so congrats to them, I guess. The problem isn’t Jily. It’s a few of the the Jily shippers.
There is no compromising with these people. None. Zero. Nœud. It’s their way or highway. As someone who ships Jegulus, I’ve had the misfortune of sharing tags with them, and let me tell you: I hate every single thing I saw. It’s not just that they think Jegulus is ridiculous (which, fine, everyone’s entitled to an opinion), but they take it so much further. Some of them genuinely believe that certain fic ideas shouldn’t exist just because they conflict with Jily canon.
- Regulus raising Harry? Blasphemy! Apparently, that’s “erasing Lily” and therefore misogynistic. Because, clearly, we are never allowed to explore an AU where things turn out differently from cannon.
- Lily not being the perfect mother? How dare you? The mere suggestion that she might have had personal ambitions, struggled with motherhood, ( or heaven forbid) not wanted kids at all is a personal attack.
- Lily being a lesbian? Absolutely not! Because, obviously, that’s just an evil ploy to invalidate Jily and an offensive way to justify a MxM ship.
- James falling in love with literally anyone else? Impossible! James Potter was born with “Property of Lily Evans” stamped on his forehead. His heart has never, and will never, belong to anyone else. Ever.
Also some Jily shippers love invading other ship’s tags. Because it’s not enough for them to enjoy their ship. No! They need to make sure no one else enjoys anything they forbid. I go looking for Jegulus content, and what do I find? Jily fans writing entire essays on why my ship is invalid. Excuse me, who asked you? I’m over here minding my own business, respecting Jily like a decent fanfic writer, and they’re out here hijacking tags like it’s their divine mission.
And the irony? If we dared to do the same to them, they’d lose their minds. One time, I commented that in my opinion, James and Regulus make a great couple, and the post’s owner responded with somethin like, "How dare you bring this filthness into my Jily post?" As if Jily shippers don’t do the exact same thing to Jegulus posts ALL. THE. TIME.
The best part? I was actually being nice for once. Normally, I am a jerk, but this one time I was being nice AND polite. Somehow that was still unacceptable. The double standards are truly something to behold.
Here’s the thing: I don’t care what you write. If you want to make Lily an all-powerful warrior queen who single-handedly takes down Voldemort, raises Harry, and becomes Minister of Magic while also starting a bakery on the side and adopting 50 cats go for it! Have a blast! I’m not stopping you. So why can’t I have my fun too? Why can’t I imagine a world where James and Regulus fall in love, or where Lily makes different choices? Isn’t that the whole point of writing/reading fics? To explore possibilities?
You know what? I will be hijacking the Jily tag now just to let them know that I mind my business, so they should mind theirs.
#I will ship whoever I want#feel free to cry#free james potter#dead gay wizards from the 70s#marauders#marauders era#dead wizards from the 70s#jegulus#james loves regulus#james x regulus#regulus black#regulus x james#sirius and regulus#boy loves boy#regulus loves james#james and regulus#james potter x regulus black#james being james#james fleamont potter#james potter#jily

on one hand, very glad my suspicions of burnout and gimmicks as a result of fear of losing viewership were wrong at least as far as we know. im glad the CCs are having fun and their enjoyment is being prioritized, even if i am still not entirely convinced everyone's on the same page.
on the other hand, it's melancholic but this is pretty much the nail in the coffin in me having any interest left in future installments of the series. for those of you concerned: I am forever haunted by my brain diseases and will be continuing to post, write and draw 3L - SL for the rest of my forseeable life (plus completely disconnecting from any need I feel to interact with WL and beyond leaves me with more time to work on. certain larger scale projects I have had plans for)
i respect grians decision-making and he would know better than me how to run a youtube series, however I do question how much of an oxymoron it is to not care about viewer feedback for a youtube series run on viewership (and when so many of the recent behind the scenes decisions we've been privy to - such as Scar and Grian's hesitancy to team up based on comments calling them "boring" -- imply the opposite regarding the cast's mindset). it makes me concerned for the longevity of the series going forward, since those not happy with the direction that I've seen have all been very passionate and old fans, but I've also seen an equal if not louder support for this season, so I digress.
Part of me wonders how much of the "we want last life 2" sentiment (<-- something I've previously spoken about how I don't agree with) the cast has been exposed to, since it felt strange to me that it was even bought up. I have had a thought about this and the consequences of "don't maintag your negativity" e.g. the reasonable people know to hide their critical posts, and what that leaves a creator with are the unreasonable people, and if it's only that feedback that gets processed, then inevitably things tend to go in weird directions. Were any of us actually "tired" of Desert Duo interacting? Were any of us mad at Gem for killing Grian in SL?
It's frustrating to see crit posts get flagged down with accusations of disrespecting or attacking the CCs, or "we don't want you here anyway, just leave," when myself and all the people I've spoken to being not avid haters but rabid fans who feel frustrated and actively want to continue liking the series. Not to mention most of the people also being active members of the fandom ontop of that -- we claim that fanart is important and makes the series even more special than it already is, yet people seem more than happy to sacrifice that just for the sake of not seeing critical opinions.
t-shirt that says blah blah blah. but I reserve the right of feeling disappointed.
#random thoughts#crit#plus i do wonder how much they're treating each season#like a brand new thing. when there was a clear shift in approach#starting with SL and the cast is so ridiculously rigid#whole thing feels like damage control to me I don't know man#reminds me a lot of the direction pokemon went in lmao but i hesitate#to make that comparison because one is grian from youtube and the other one is fucking pokemon

Your opinions are sooo correct & sexy! I wanna know what you think about the switch of Roy being Dick's friend to (primarily) Jason's friend. Like in terms of both canon & fanon
(no pressure to answer though, just curious!)
ive talked about this before, so im not being facetious when i say that i don’t think there is anything remotely salvageable in the jason+roy relationship. i hate it.
when u consider current comic canon (that’s more or less tepidly reverted to post-crisis, pre-2011 canon), there is literally no reason why a freshly single father would be besties with his actual best friend’s 12yo brother. it’s profoundly unserious. even removing dick from the equation, in what world would roy be closer to jason than he is to ollie or donna or dinah or wally or jade or connor or mia or grant or vic or grace or literally any of the other titans?
i truly don’t think fans who like their relationship in that capacity care about roy, his history as a character, or his characterisation, because he is reduced to a demeaning, dehumanised depiction of any addict that is so totally divorced from his previous runs. how can u look at the roy harper that exists in rhato canon and not feel insulted that lobdell removed his family, his culture, his teammates, and his daughter in favour of making him swoon over jason? how is this a remotely egalitarian relationship when he exists to facilitate jason’s development and nothing else? how is roy treated with any respect by these fans?
the spiralling fanon vortex pulls everyone around roy in and ruins them by association. think about how unkind these interpretations of ollie are, or jade, or dick. how the actual important people in roy’s life, who love him and lian, are demonised to make room for jason. how unsympathetic the writing is to addicts, and how roy’s own addiction is switched as if different substances are interchangeable? how can u seriously engage with stories about sexual assault that posit roy as a slut-shaming, immature asshole who would seriously blame anyone for their own assault? it makes me so angry.
that’s even ignoring that roy would objectively not be cool with the things jason does, whether it be dealing, murdering people, or attacking roy’s own sister. roy has a moral backbone and isn’t afraid to be loud about it. there’s never been a team he was on pre-reboot where he hadn’t spoken up against shitty leadership or bad decisions — especially with dick. the difference in respect between dick and jason, where roy is allowed to be an adult with the titans and the outsiders and the league but is the team pet of the outlaws who can’t advocate for himself, is very stark.
it’s literally like if they decided to change kon to be damian’s best friend instead of tim’s, ignoring the age difference and their history together and any pre existing relationships. that’s how absurd the change was. that’s how much kon would have to be mischaracterised in order for that relationship to “work.”
jason could exist as an interesting contrast to roy, the same way he does to dick, but that would rely on roy being written well. it would have to mean they weren’t friends, that they weren’t close, and that jason wasn’t an actual part of his life, because that’s the only way they could exist together without roy being thrown on the fire to keep jason warm.
#anti jayroy#roy harper#dick grayson#teen titans#dc comics#the ask and the answer#very sweet ask ty#ok im clocking out of the meanie bobeanie factory

hello tumblr i have finished reading s.hoot your s.hot and so this is a post about all my thoughts about it for @moregraceful and also anyone else who is interested i suppose!
first off let me say that i have nothing against l.exi b.rown, i am neutral-to-positive toward her as a person/public figure in the hockey world. like, i do think that sometimes she lets the line between space for fans/space for the hockey enterprise we are fans of get a little uncomfortably blurred, and sometimes she loses sight her own privilege a little bit, and sometimes she's a little bit cringe, but whomst among us isn't a little bit cringe? being a little bit cringe is an essential part of the human experience. but overall i think it's good to have a loud voice in a place of privilege within the hockey community who is willing to adamantly say trans rights and black lives matter and homophobia is dumb and bad, you know? i feel the need to say this because i AM going to be a little mean about this book but i have seen reactions to it here on the world wide web that feel like the people behind them are just getting off on the chance to be mean to a woman who is popular on the internet.
anyway becky just review the book.
SHORT VERSION: when i first posted that i was reading this, a very nice anon messaged to be like, i read it and while i thought it wasn't great on a craft level, i thought she delivered on the things she said she would deliver on — accuracy in the hockey parts, queer rep, and poc rep. and i agree, and i think those are worthwhile things! on a craft level the book was pretty clunky and in some specific ways Not For Me, but on a story level it was fine, and in other ways it was good actually. it was far from the worst hockey romance i have ever read and not worse than other clunkily written romance novels i've read and judged but that other people seem to love. anyone acting like it's the worst book ever written needs to take a breath. it was fine! there are some things i liked about it! the sex scenes were really bad though!
TL;DR VERSION:
so i went into this book with low expectations, largely because in the leadup to it lexi did not really make herself out to be a person who, like, particularly enjoys or respects romance as a genre. the built her audience in the hockey romance world by poking fun at other hockey romances and making fun of "sexy" hockey tropes and while i didn't necessarily disagree with her takes on those things (i felt very vindicated that she disliked my beloathed HIM, for example) i think that being a normal nobody who is critical of those things online is different from being a person with a pretty big platform who does it and then turns around and says, and now i'm going to write a book in this genre that does things RIGHT! while at the same time talking about how the books you actually enjoy reading are like, edgy literary fiction or whatever. (not derogatory; i also love edgy literary fiction)
so in addition to that setting my own expectations low i think that right off the bat it set her up for some unsympathetic responses — by selling herself as the person who could "fix" hockey romance, she possibly drew in people who wouldn't read hockey romance otherwise, or who have tried it and didn't like it, which could be a good thing if the book is like, genre-trancendingly good, but when it inevitably is not, all those people just wind up reading a mid hockey romance set against way too high expectations. also some people just REALLY like an excuse to mock women on the internet/romance as a genre.
(which isn't to say everyone has been a hater about it; it seems like her book launch events have gone great and plenty of people have genuinely enjoyed the book, so, good! i'm glad people are having fun!)
so, i am going to list the good parts and the bad parts, in my opinion.
BAD PARTS:
alternating first person present tense povs. my actual least favorite tense+pov combination in all of literature. i know some people like it but it is actively a turn-off for me.
needed an aggressive line-edit so bad. on a sentence level the prose was clunky in a lot of places. too many words. girlie needed to ctrl+f certain abverbs so badly, and then delete delete delete.
the pacing was not horrible but not great at times, especially with time jumps between chapters that were sometimes a little confusing. honestly a lot of my gripes about the craft stuff in this book are big baby's first novel problems, and romance novels are notoriously poorly edited, so.
the show/tell ratio was wayyyyy off. girl stop telling us stuff and show us instead. related gripe so it goes in this bullet point as well, you can tell when an author doesn't trust their readers to make connections or come to conclusions themselves so they feel like they have to spell out every little think they want you to think and i find that very tiring.
oh lord the sex scenes. lexi said at some point that she's uncomfortable writing them (but felt like she had to include them due to genre expectations) and you can really tell. the prose was at its clunkiest in these scenes and it seemed like she was trying to get through them as quickly as possible. imo the book would have been just fine, possibly better, without them. also girl no one forced you to write in this genre.
i said to jess and maggie early on in reading this book that it has a kind of wattpad self-insert fanfiction vibe and now having finished it i do think that on a story level it's a step up from wattpadesque, it cannot escape the self-insert fanfic vibe of a bisexual woman married to a black hockey man writing a book about a bisexual woman and a black hockey man who seem to have personalities fairly close to the real people. this may have been helped if she didn't name the characters LUCY AND JJ but who knows. this made reading it a little weird sometimes! there were points in reading where i wondered if she would have been better off from a craft/genre-appreciation level writing a straight up memoir or like, purposely thinly veiled literary autofiction, but of course those things don't have the market power of hockey romance. idk. despite this i also liked the diversity, so, big shrugs from me here.
this book is billed specifically as a ROM-COM and not a ROMANCE, which to me feels like lexi trying to distance herself a little from traditional romance, because she's not a big fan of traditional romance, which gets a huge sigh from me. also while there are some genuinely funny moments, a lot of it reads like the scenes of a movie being described, which is a pet peeve of mine. it is REALLY hard to write a funny story; i think that romcoms thrive on screen because they benefit from physical comedy, chemistry, and timing in a way that's really really difficult to capture in writing.
some people don't mind a lot of pop culture references in their contemporary fiction but unfortunately i am a person who often finds them pretty awkward and therefore the fact that many characters' personalities hinge on the pop culture references they make and the brands they use was tiring to me. relatedly, while i mostly didn't have gripes about factual accuracy in this book, at one point lucy mentions that they're been dating for a month and gotten halfway through watching naruto and i'm like girl do know know how many episodes of naruto there are. how did they have time to fuck
my one big accuracy gripe is that at a certain point lucy (an artist) starts selling her art online to make ends meet and is super successful at it, with no explanation of how this happened. selling art online is really hard! is she working social media hard to bring in customers? did she somehow tap into an existing market for her style of art? we just don't know!
GOOD PARTS:
the hockey details did indeed feel very accurate! it is worth acknowleding imo that she has a certain privilege in this area — she can literally just ask her nhler husband how things work if she doesn't already know from her years around the league — but the accuracy level in other hockey romances i've read have been so abysmally low that simply being accurate to the basics of how nhl/north american hockey works was pretty refreshing.
even though the writing was clunky, some of my favorite parts were when lucy was hanging out with her queer friends and the work that did to keep this book from feeling aggressively heterosexual in a weird patriarchal gender roles way that so many hockey romances do. and not even just het hockey romances. HIM (beloathed) was so wildly misogynistic it boggled my mind. it was nice to read a hockey romance that didn't feel like it hates women!
(please imagine every bullet point on this list beginning with, "even though the writing was clunky—")
similarly it was nice that jaylen felt like a real person with real problems and not a weird hockey man archetype of masculinity. i liked that the text acknowledged how his blackness affected his hockey experience. i enjoyed how he was written as a straight man who is genuinely cool with queer people. one of my favorite scenes was when lucy's friend clocks how much he likes her because he quietly gave a huge donation to the seattle pride fundraiser she'd dragged him to. i too would love for an attractive man to express his feelings for me by donating a ton of money to my gay friends!
both lucy and jaylen had genuinely strong character arcs that made sense for real people in their circumstances in the real world, but i especially liked jaylen's in how it was built out of real issues within the hockey world — the extreme pressure players (especially black players and high draft picks) are under to perform and put hockey before everything, the way that can fuck with your head, etc. once again just refreshing to have realistic hockey details!
not every character or relationship beat hit for me, but there were some genuinely cute and funny ones, especially later in the book. i thought one of the things lexi did a good job showing more than telling was the growing level of comfort/intimacy that lucy and jaylen had with each other, and while the third-act breakup did not come as a surprise, it did feel like a realistic problem for them to run into, as opposed to a contrived miscommunication like so many romance novels seem to like to have.
overall i'm like, yeah, it was fine! it wasn't awful, it wasn't great, i wish the writing had been better and there were parts i thought were especially poorly written but also parts i genuinely liked or appreciated! mainly my feelings here are that people are going to keep writing mid to bad hockey romances and i would rather those books have people of color in them, and queer people in them, and know how hockey works, and have a genuine love for the game and the community around it than not have those things, so i'm not mad at this book for existing even if i have some issues with it. obviously lexi has a big, built-in platform and access to the nhl that other authors don't have and hopefully she'll use that for good to inspire and support more diversity in hockey romance!

ADORE your writing so.......request.........Rafe x Sofia: They have been dating for awhile but as a pouge, she obviously feels inferior – thinking he could do better, often times insecurities getting the better of her. One day Ward corners her and basically feeds into her insecurities, saying that Rafe can do better and kooks like him, don’t marry girls like her and she would only hold him back etc. He offers her money to stay away from Rafe, which she declines, but she breaks up with Rafe who is heartbroken and doesn’t understand why. Maybe Ward lies at some point and tells Rafe that he payed Sofia off. Cue angst, heartbroken Rafe etc (but happy sweet ending)
❝ good for you, r. cameron ❞

ooo. 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈… rafe cameron & sofia
ooo. 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔… angst, insecurities, classism, comfort, feelings of inferiority, degrading.
ooo. 𝒔𝒚𝒏𝒐𝒑𝒔𝒊𝒔… sofia’s invited over for dinner to finally meet rafe’s father, she never would’ve guessed that ward cameron would confirm her biggest insecurities about her relationship with rafe.
ooo. 𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒓 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒔… it hurt sm writing the dialogue for ward about sofia i hated saying all that stuff about my princess, but this was such a fun write because i looovee angst.
She’s nervous—no nervous would be too trivial to describe how she’s feeling. She’s fucking terrified. All week she’s been anxiously waiting for tonight’s dinner with Rafe’s family. She’s heard all of the gossiping rumors about Ward Cameron; while some feared his puissant presence others respected him for his work ethic and how he managed to become the richest person on the island.
And while she hasn’t formally met him, she’s seen him around the yacht club enough to conclude that some of the rumors seemed to have some validity to them. He wasn’t blatant with his condemnation or ridicules, but everyone there knew to always get his orders correct the first time.
Which is why she’s not entirely sure why she’s so adamant on making a good impression on him. Maybe it’s her self deprecating attitude telling her that she had to, or maybe it’s because she knows that regardless of their dysfunctional relationship, Rafe still held a high value of his father’s opinion and she wanted to be one of those things that he was accepting of.
Sofia had scoured through her closet all night; trying on different outfits that seemed most appropriate for tonight’s occasion. She primped herself up nicely; wearing the most expensive dress that she owned and curled her hair into a neat coiffure. She’d been standing in front of her long length mirror, nervously staring at herself through the reflection when she saw her father approaching.
He leaned against her doorway with his arms tucked across his chest as he looked at her. “You look beautiful, mi amor.” He compliments, dispelling some of Sofia’s trepidation as she gave him a small smile.
“Thank you, Papi.” But her smile falters when she notices the furrow deepening in his expression. She already knew what was troubling her father, it’s the same thing that’s been worrying him since she first started dating Rafe.
He was wary of the Cameron’s, but especially Ward. He said that someone with that kind of money didn’t become rich from being a good person and he didn’t want Sofia involved in any aspect of them whatsoever. And while she knows her father’s only looking out for her best interests, part of her felt as if he was acting based off of his preconceived bias without actually getting to know them.
She always valued her father’s opinions with high regard, but she was already nervous as is and didn’t want his worrying to worsen it.
“It’s going to be fine, Papi.” She assures him, though his reluctance doesn’t surcease. He purses his lips in a thinned frown before pushing himself off of the doorway so that he’s able to cross over the threshold to approach her.
He reaches his hands up, cradling her face within his grasp. “No dejes que te hagan sentir que eres menos de lo que vales, ¿vale?” He asserts sternly, holding her gaze as he looks down into her eyes.
Sofia nods, heeding at her father’s words. “Okay,” He exhaled a deep breath before tilting her head upward so that he’s able to press a kiss against her forehead. The sound of the doorbell ringing retracts them from their moment of intimacy, Sofia gives her dad a small smile as she looks up at him. “That’s Rafe,”
Her father nods, though a bit somber as he retracts his hands from her face in favor of sliding them inside the front pockets of his jeans. Sofia retrieves her purse and phone off of her dresser before beelining her way through her bedroom to the living room to greet Rafe at the door.
She’s unable to constrain her mirthful smile when she opens the door and sees him. He looked handsome; wearing a pair of white pleated dress pants and a blue cardigan sweater.
And his feelings are equally reciprocal of hers, because when he sees her in the white spaghetti strapped dress that she’s wearing, he whistled coquettishly and bit his lip as her stared at her. “Fuck, Sof, you look hot.” He compliments, though blanching in chagrin and offering a sheepish apology when her dad harrumphs loudly and narrows a pointed glare at him for his vulgarity, “Oh! I’m sorry, sir. I didn’t see you there.”
Her father hummed disapprovingly, averting his haughty gaze away from Rafe as he stared at his daughter. “Estaré despierto esperándote cuando regreses, Sofia,” She nods, bidding him with one final farewell before grabbing ahold of Rafe’s hand and closing the door behind them.
“So, it’s safe to say that your dad still hates me huh?” Rafe congresses as they make their way down the driveway towards his car.
Sofia rolls her eyes, giving their conjoined fingers an affectionate squeeze. “He doesn’t hate you, he’s just protective of me.” She assures him. Rafe gives her a knowing look as he holds the door open for her, allowing her to clamber inside of the passengers seat. “And speaking of protective dads, is there anything that I need to know about your father before we get there?”
Rafe shakes his head as he secures his seatbelt in place. “Not really. I mean he’s old school. He believes in all that traditional stuff about dating to get married and having kids,”
Sofia nods. He didn’t sound too different from her own father regarding that. “So, did you tell him about—?” The question trails off airily, but he knew exactly what she was referring to.
“Not yet,” Rafe says, shaking his head as he looked over at her. “I was waiting until tonight so that we could both tell him,”
As if she wasn’t already nervous, knowing that they were going to break the news of their recent engagement on the same night of her first meeting his father left Sofia completely unnerved. Rafe took immediate notice of this and reached across the console to grab ahold of her hand. His thumb brushed over her fingers in a comforting gesture.
“You don’t have any reason to be nervous, baby. It’s going to be fine.” He avows, cementing the declaration with a kiss against her knuckles. She gives him a halfhearted smile, desperately holding that his words held some truth.
…
It’s twenty five minutes later that they’re pulling into the driveway of the Cameron estate. They don’t even make it halfway up the driveway before the front door’s being pulled open revealing Ward and a blonde woman who Sofia recognizes as Rafe’s stepmother, Rose.
Rose’s mouth is upturned, her eyes are judgmental in their wandering as she watches them approach. She brings her glass of wine that she was drinking up to her lips and stared curiously at Sofia over the rim, still apprehensive in her lingering. It’s only when Ward’s hand reaches over to rest on the small of her back that her face affixes into a more amicable expression.
“Son,” Ward greets, releasing his hold on Rose so that he’s able to meet Rafe halfway. He clasps a hand on Rafe’s shoulder, before taking a preemptive step forward to pull him into a side hug. “It’s good to see you,”
“It’s good to see you too, dad.”
Sofia stands aside, nearly hiding behind Rafe’s towering height as the two embraced. It’s not until he’s pulling back that Ward’s eyes wander over Rafe’s shoulder and peers down at Sofia. There’s a tightness pulling in his lips as he stares at her that makes Sofia nearly cower away from the intensity of his gaze.
There’s something that furrows in his expression as he looks at her dress that makes her self consciously ponder if she’d mistakenly chose the wrong dress to wear tonight. (Was it too much? Too short? She inwardly wondered, fretting self consciously beneath his scrutiny as she tugged at the hem of the dress.) He doesn’t vocalize whatever issues he has regarding her attire; instead he placates another feeble smile that pulls tightly on his lips as he greets her in welcome. “It’s…Sofia, isn’t it?” His hand proffers out towards her in gesture, she wraps her hand around his as he gives their conjoined hands a gentle shake.
“Yes. It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Cameron,”
“Ah, stop with all the formalities. You can call me Ward just like everyone else does,” He says, waving her off in good nature. “You two kids come on inside, Gloria just got finished with dinner.” He beckoned, gesturing for them to follow him inside.
Rafe reaches for her hand again. He looks down at her, raising a questioning brow. “You good?”
She nods, giving him a halfhearted smile. Though Ward hadn’t said anything, there was just something about the way that he looked at her that made her feel inferior and unworthy to be around. But she didn’t want to say anything to Rafe, wary of causing any trouble between them. She knew how much Rafe wanted the night to go well and how excited he was to share the news about their engagement so she relented in saying anything, swallowing down the trepidation that burned in the back of her throat.
Sofia follows in tow behind Rafe as they walked inside; heading towards the dining room where Ward and Rose had already made their perch. Rafe holds out Sofia’s chair before settling comfortably in his own.
“I hope you like coq au vin,” Ward says, unfolding his napkin and draping it across his lap as the housekeeper, who she assumes is Gloria, brings out the plates of their food.
“Oh, I’ve never had it before.” She laments, though the smell and sight of the braised chicken dish had her mouth salivating at the thought of finally being able to do so.
“You’re going to love it,” Ward enthused, giving her a small smile that seemed antithetical of how he looked and greeted her earlier. This one seemed more genuine and gentle, catching her completely by surprise.
Maybe tonight wouldn’t be as bad as she thought.
…
“So, how did you two meet?” Ward took a sip of his wine, gesturing a hand between the two of them.
It’s much to Sofia’s surprise that he’d actually been quite welcoming towards her. All throughout the night he’s been very engaging with her; asking about her family and showing a piqued curiosity about her interests and it made her wonder if she’d initially misjudged Ward’s character.
It’s Rafe who answers the question, recalling the story of how they met when he first saw her at work.
Rose’s attention thwarted throughout the conversation as she was more interested in the bottle of Merlot that she kept refilling in her glass rather than listening to the story of their relationship. But Ward’s listening attentively and asking questions to further the conversation along.
“And you’ve been together for how long again?”
“A little over eighteen months,” Rafe answers, purposefully excluding the fact that they’d been unofficially together for six of those months during their friends-with-benefits period. The trajectory of their relationship had been far from easy, but they’re currently at a point where she’s the happiest she’s ever been with him and she never wanted to leave the bubble of bliss that she’s feeling.
“You’ve been dating almost two years and we’re just now meeting you?” Rose interjects in an almost accusatory tone.
Rafe rolled his eyes, undaunted by Rose’s hostile demeanor. “Back off, Rose.”
Ward chuckled as he leaned over at patted his hand against Rose’s thigh. “Now, now. It’s fine, sweetheart. It’s obvious that Rafe wanted to keep this lovely young lady all to himself. I don’t blame you son. But I am curious to know the reason for tonight’s dinner. You told me that you had something important to share, no?”
Rafe nods, exhaling a deep breath as he smiled at Sofia. “Yeah, there’s something that we both wanted to tell you,”
Sofia felt her nerves becoming erratic again, though Rafe’s hand reaching underneath the table and grabbing ahold of hers offers some resolve. “The reason for tonight’s dinner is because Sof and I wanted to tell you about our engagement,” He confesses, turning to look at his father whose face fell into an indiscernible expression that neither Rafe or Sofia could quite gauge.
At his father’s quiet contemplation, Rafe continues speaking. “I know it seems kinda sudden to you guys, but I love her and what we have is special. And it’s the exact reason why I proposed to her with mom’s ring,” At this, Ward’s eyes widen as he looks frantically at her hand in search of the ring. But she had cautiously decided to not wear it tonight; not wanting to spoil the surprise of the engagement.
“You proposed with your mother’s ring?” Sofia notices the bewilderment lilting in his voice that Rafe seems naively oblivious to.
“Yeah. You always told me to never give it to any girl unless I was one hundred percent sure that I wanted to be with her. Sofia’s not just some girl to me, dad. I love and want to be with her. And I’ve never been more sure of anything than I am of this.” Her heart swoon’s at Rafe’s declaration but it was admittedly hard for moment to be fully of mirth when Ward seemed evidently displeased by the news of their engagement.
He chuckles, rubbing a hand over his jaw as he nodded his head. “Wow. I’ll admit that I am a bit surprised by this, son. But if this is what you want then, who am I to intervene? Congratulations to the both of you,” He says, but his countenance and tone contradicts his words entirely.
…
It’s after dinner when Rafe’s outside taking a phone call and Rose had disappeared upstairs, calling it in for the night that Ward finds her alone in the living room. His gait is stealth in his approach; his eyes wander briefly towards the balcony where Rafe stood with his back turned towards them. And it’s when his eyes find hers again that she immediately recognizes that daunting demeanor that she’s heard about.
“Look, you seem like a sweet girl, but I want you to know that whatever fairytale my son fed you about you guys getting married and living happily ever after together isn’t happening.” The condescending tone from when he greeted her outside earlier returns, but it’s more evident now, especially in the way he patronizes her. “There’s a certain…standard that our family’s expected to uphold and unfortunately you don’t fit into it. You’re a temporary placement; someone that he can have fun with until he wakes up and realizes that you aren’t the kind of girl that we end up with.”
Sofia’s eyes burn with tears at Ward’s hurtful remarks. She couldn’t believe that she was fooled into believing that there was a possibility that she had misjudged his character. This is the Ward Cameron she heard about; the one who her father tried so hard to protect her from. The one that people feared.
Ward’s eyes wander towards the balcony again; assuring that Rafe was still too preoccupied to overhear his berating. “You know, I used to be a pogue too. I know what it’s like to be poor and have nothing. I worked my ass off to get to where I am today and to give my family this lifestyle so they’d never have to live how I did growing up. You’re a real sweet girl, Sofia. But, you are not marrying my son and you are not tainting a reputation that I worked so hard to build,” He avers, the haughtiness behind his stare sends a chilling shiver down her spine.
“I do however have a proposition that you might be interested in,” He walks over towards one of the tables and picks up his check book. “I know that serving drinks down at the yacht club isn’t paying for your family’s bills. So, how about you give Rafe my ex wife’s ring back and put an end to this nonsense of a relationship and I’ll give you something to ease your family’s money troubles?” He questions, raising a brow up at her as he paused mid scribe.
She scoffs, offended that he truly thought so lowly of her. Sofia’s never been interested in Rafe for his money, that was the last thing she cared about. She was with him because she loves him not for what he could offer her. And it hurt that Ward sat there listening to her recall the exact moment that she fell in love with Rafe and deduced it to something so false to her character.
“I’m not with Rafe because of his money. I’m with him because I love him!” She rebuttals, feeling her lip quiver and her voice tremble.
Ward gives her a disbelieving look, chortling at her rebuff. “Even someone in love can be bought, sweetheart. Listen, I’m doing you a favor. You don’t know Rafe like I do. He’s been with hundreds of girls, he gets bored easily. Do you really think that when he finally decides to settle down and be a family man that it would be with someone like you?”
…
After finishing his conversation, Rafe walks back into the house with the intention of seeking out Sofia. He’s taken aback when he realizes that she wasn’t in the living room where he’d left her earlier. He does a brief search through the rest of the rooms, calling out her name as he scoured through the hallways. “Sof?” He knocked on his father’s office door, pushing it open when he allows Rafe’s entry.
“Hey, dad, have you seen Sofia? I can’t find her anywhere.” His father, who was seated behind his cedar wood desk, removed the thin framed glasses from his face as he sighed deeply.
“She left son,”
“She what?”
Ward clambers to his feet, scooting his chair away from the desk so that he’s able to approach Rafe. His expression mares one of sympathetic remorse. He stands athwart from Rafe, clasping his hands onto his shoulders as he gives him a wary look. “I don’t know what happened. I think that all of this overwhelmed her,” He gestures a hand around, causing Rafe to furrow his brows in confusion.
“What?” He was trying to decipher his father’s halfhearted explanation, but nothing he was saying made any sense to him. “Did she say anything to you about why she wanted to leave?” He couldn’t understand what went wrong; the entire night had been going good so for her to make such an abrupt departure like this left Rafe truly bewildered.
Ward shook his head. “No, she just told me to tell you that she’s sorry.”
He leaves the house to go find her.
His search isn’t long, because as soon as he walks out of the front door he finds her standing on the side of the street, turned away from the house with her arms hugging her body. Rafe descends down the stairs, haste to approach her. “Sof!” He beckons, quickening his gait so that he could reach her.
He brushes a hand against her back, attempting to capture her attention when she doesn’t turn around to acknowledge him. He furrows a confused frown when she recoils from his touch and steps away from his embrace, setting a barrier of space between them. It’s not until he notices that her eyes are sheened with tears that his confusion is substituted for concern.
“Baby, what’s wrong?” He attempts to touch her again, but she shakes her head, tightening her grip around herself as she avoided his contact. “Sof,” His face wans in a deeper crestfallen expression at the realization that she didn’t want to be near him.
“My dad’s coming to pick me up. I’m going home,” She avers, looking at him through glossy eyes and his heart breaks when at the sight. “This was a mistake,”
“What?” Rafe shakes his head, his mind’s still muddled in confusion. “Sof, I don’t understand what’s going on. Why are you leaving? What’s wrong? Talk to me.” He’s starting to panic; because she isn’t looking at him (at least not in the way that she used to—Rafe’s favorite thing about Sofia is how she looked at him; like he was something of importance to her that she cherished and held deep adulation for. It was the first time that any woman aside from his mother looked at him with such fervor and vehemence.
Now, he could see the noticeable shift in her eyes—how they avoid looking at his for too long and how they hold this melancholy in them. All he wanted was for her to look at him how she used to because at least then he would know for sure that things would be okay—that there’s resolve somewhere at the end of this. But all of this uncertainty is only worsening his fears.)
She isn’t touching him either and nothing’s making any fucking sense to him.
“It was stupid to think that this could work. We’re just too different. It was fun but it’s better if we stop pretending now before anyone gets hurt.”
Before? It seemed a bit too late for that precaution because he’s already pretty fucking heartbroken as he stands there listening to her trivialize their relationship like it was some meaningless fling instead of them actually developing real feelings for each other.
“Pretending?” He laments, shaking his head in disbelief. “That’s what you think we’ve been doing for eighteen months?” He congresses, transitioning from feelings of pain to anger.
“Rafe—” She parts her mouth to protest, but he’s interjecting her spiel adamant on vocalizing his own.
“I love you. You know that. Everything between us has been real. There’s not one moment where I’ve ever pretended to feel something that wasn’t already there. So for you to stand here and say this—”
“No. Just stop. Okay? I don’t think…I don’t think it’s best for us to be together anymore.”
And he doesn’t even have time to process anything because her father’s truck is suddenly pulling up to the side of the street where they’re standing and she’s hurriedly scurrying off, ignoring Rafe’s pleading beckons as she left him standing there heartbroken.
…
She releases the choked up sob she’d been suppressing when she gets inside of the car. It’s not until he’s driven far enough down the street to where the Cameron estate is in the far distance of the rearview mirror that her father pulls the car aside to console her.
“Please don’t say I told you so, Papi.”
Even though he was right in his judgments, she doesn’t think she could endure any more emotional turmoil for the night. Hearing Ward Cameron degrade her like that only solidified Sofia’s initial insecurities—that she was unworthy of being with someone like Rafe Cameron.
She’s seen the upturned noses and heard the quieted whispers of people whenever they saw them together as they wondered how could someone of his high stature possibly be interested in a someone like her. Rafe’s always reassured her that he didn’t care of other people’s opinions and that what they shared was sacred to him. It was always those instances where she’d feel her apprehension weening, because she knew Rafe and he never gave her any reason to doubt his feelings for her.
But hearing how Ward perceived her and knowing that not only did he disapprove of their relationship, he thought that his son was lowering his standards to be with her hurt her deeply.
Her father told her to not let Ward make her feel like less than what she’s worth but that ended up being the exact thing that he did. She should’ve heeded his forewarnings, because maybe then she wouldn’t be sitting in the passenger’s seat of her father’s truck mending a broken heart.
“What happened?” Her father questioned, his voice heavy with anger at the sight of his daughter’s tears. “Tell me what that pinche cabrón did to you, Sofia!”
But she couldn’t recite those hurtful words he spoke to her.
She couldn’t do anything but cry.
…
His father’s waiting for him when he returns to the house. “She broke up with me,” He laments, still stuck in confusion at how the night went so wrong so fast. Nothing Sofia said made any sense to him; he couldn’t fathom her trivializing their relationship with such disregard. He remembers how happy she was when he first proposed — how her eyes filled with tears and she choked out a yes and kissed him before he even had the opportunity to finish his romantic spiel.
So, how could she go from that to her breaking up with him with such contempt and saying that their eighteen months together was a mistake? He doesn’t even realize that he’s crying until he tastes the saltiness of his tears spilling on his lips.
“I’m sorry,” Ward empathizes, squeezing a comforting hand on his shoulder. “But maybe…maybe it’s for the best,” And at this, Rafe narrows a confused expression at his father’s words. How could he say such an absurd thing? “I’m just saying, she’s nice but you can’t continue wasting your time with those kind of girls Rafe.”
“What the fuck do you mean those type of girls?” Rafe asks, shrugging his father’s hand off of him. He began to feel offended by his father’s insinuation that he was somehow demeaning himself by being with Sofia like she was unworthy of him. Because if anything, it’s the other way around for him.
“I mean girls who aren’t fitting for our world. She’s not the type that we turn into wives, Rafe!”
“Oh, and Rose is?” He rebuttals, scoffing at his father’s blatant ignorance. He knows his father can be mean sometimes, but the way he was speaking about Sofia like she was nothing changed his opinion about what kind of guy his father truly is. He didn’t care about what anyone thought of her and their relationship but he’d be damned if anyone degraded her.
Ward gives his son a pointed look, raising a brow at him. “I’m trying to help you, son.”
“Right,” Rafe nods, unmoored by his father’s claims. “And I bet you were so helpful with Sof earlier, right? Is that why she broke up with me because of something that you said to her?” It was all starting to make sense now; the way she was acting after dinner, the way she spoke about their relationship with insouciance — it was all his father’s doing.
He’d probably told her the same thing that he’s spewing to Rafe now about how she’s not good enough to be with him. Rafe’s anger heightens at the realization as he remembers how she was crying; and he has to clench his fist to resist the urge of punching his father in the face for hurting her.
And as much as he would like to, his primary focus is on Sofia and going to her house to find her so that he could plead for her to take him back.
He just hopes his father hadn’t ruined the best thing that’s ever happened to him.
…
“Do you need anything?” Her father asks, concern’s worn on his features as he rests a comforting hand against her back. He’d been attentive in his consoling throughout the entire duration of the ride back home — offering her solemn reassurances even though she knows that inwardly he was concocting a plan against the Cameron’s for hurting her.
And while she appreciates her father’s defense and offerings, she was too heartbroken and sad to do anything except cry. “No, I’m okay, Papi.” She says, giving him a halfhearted smile that falls feeble in its efforts. “I’m just going to go lie down,”
He nods, pursing his lips in a worn moue as he pulled her into a hug. He kisses the top of her head, informing her that he would check up on her again in a little while before she goes to bed. “Okay,”
She saunters her way towards her bedroom, intending to crawl beneath her cover and cry herself to sleep tonight. But when she flicks on the light, she’s taken aback when she sees Rafe standing outside of the door. She jumps, startled at his presence, resting a hand over her heart as she attempted to catch her breath. “mierda!” She clamors, hoping that her inadvertent exclamation didn’t wake anyone or grasp the unwanted attention from her father.
She pauses, listening out for his footsteps.
When she doesn’t hear anything, she reluctantly approaches the door. She pulls the door open as she gives Rafe an apprehensive look of dejection. “Rafe, what are you doing here?”
“I needed to see you,” He avers.
Sofia lowers her eyes, feeling overwhelmed standing underneath the smothering intensity of his gaze. “You shouldn’t be here. I told you—”
He scoffs, shaking his head as he took a step towards her. “No, I don’t give a damn about what you said because I know that you didn’t say it. My dad did, didn’t he?” Sofia’s pulse quickens at his apropos, surprised that he’d already caught onto his father’s deceit. At Sofia’s silence, Rafe suspires deeply as he reached for her hand. “Sof, hey, look at me,”
She bites on her trembling lip, shaking her head as she attempted to pull away from him. “No, Rafe, he’s right. I don’t fit into your lifestyle. I don’t belong there.” She laments, but Rafe refused to concede or indulge in her self deprecation.
“Sofia, you matter to me more than any of that bullshit. I don’t care about the money or status. I’d give up all of that in a heartbeat if it meant that I’d still be with you!” He confesses, now decimating the barrier of space between them as he stands directly athwart from her. He reaches his hand up to cradle her face within his grasp, gently tugging her head upward so that their gazes are leveled. “You know how I feel about you. I love you, that’s all that matters,”
Sofia’s throat clicked as she felt a thick lump of emotions barring against it. She bites on her lip again, feeling her eyes burn as tears fogged her vision. Rafe’s thumb brushed against her cheeks, wiping away the fallen tears. “I want to marry you. I’m going to marry you, because I love and want to be with you, Sof. So, please don’t give up on us, baby.”
“Okay,” She whispers, barely getting the words out before Rafe’s sighing deeply in relief and pulling her body towards him so that he could embrace her in a deepened kiss.
Rafe leans in closer, seeking out Sofia’s prim bow lips with a softened vigor. He stretches his jaw, deepening the kiss, melting at the way she tastes and feels against him. And it’s Sofia finally reciprocating the kiss—standing on the tip of her toes and wrapping her arms around his neck so that their heights are slightly leveled—that steadies the erratic beating of his heart.
“I’m sorry.” She whispers once they parted from the embrace to catch their breaths. She felt awful for how she’d broken up with him. But Rafe shakes his head at her protests, refusing her to harbor any guilt for her father’s wrongdoing. He’d gotten into her head and made her feel unworthy, made her cry. And for that, Rafe knows he’d never forgive or look at his father the same.
“Don’t be sorry, baby. You didn’t do anything.” He assures her with another chaste kiss against her pouty lips. “But just know you’ll always mean more to me than anything else in this world, okay?”
“Okay.” Sofia nods, feeling the heaviness that clenched at her heart suddenly easing at Rafe’s reassurance.

Here’s proof Juvia doesn’t bring Gray happiness. He says he has to sacrifice his own happiness, (or at-least implies that) by prioritising hers instead.
This is really sad to see honestly, considering just how little Gray seemed to care about himself throughout the show. He’d constantly try to throw it all away to use iced shell because of his guilt due to Ur saving him in a sacrifice.
And you know who had to go and mess it all up and bring Gray right back to square one? JUVIA
As you all may probably know, Juvia sacrificed herself for Gray in alvarez arc. The same thing that Ur did for him when he was little.

Honestly finding these panels was really hard for me, not out of difficulty finding them but just by looking at them. Gray is shaking. He Is never one to shiver but he is absolutely terrified and traumatised right here. This is the death of Gray’s character, right here is when it happened. He was taken back to that awful feeling he had as a kid, where someone died because of him. Again.

This right here in my opinion is where Gray really starts to believe this was his fault. Juvia’s happiness, Juvia’s safety, Juvia’s life is all his responsibility right in this moment. He sees it as all his fault. If he had just loosen up, if he had just listened to everyone else, if he just had tried to care like Juvia did maybe she’d still be here. Thoughts like that would be running through his head. Resulting in why we see Gray’s character completely flip by the time 100YQ rolls around.
Juvia tells him that her life belongs to Gray. Meaning it’s his responsibility now, obviously he is having trauma relapse from when Ur died so he starts trying to prioritise Juvia’s happiness over his own. Even if it makes him depressed. He believes, Juvia’s happiness matters more because of his guilt.
That’s why by the end of alvarez arc we see him try to flirt with her, out of guilt. Out of thinking he owed her better. Finally Juvia gets what she wants from the man and all it took was traumatising him. Gray hesitates with flirting with her too, because he knows it isnt him. It isnt what he really wants to say. When he flirts with Lucy, we see him smirking because he feels comfortable and its what he wants to say. When he does with Juvia, he’s frowning. He always looks away. Because he knows it’s not true to him.
That’s why instead of complimenting Juvia we hear him say this ‘maybe it should be mine’ regarding her scarred body. He believes Juvia’s body is his responsibility, and that’s why he says this. It’s not flirting, it’s his way of revealing his mindset through trying to appease Juvia. Juvia says she belongs to Gray, and he finally believes that. He finally believes that scar on her is his fault, and thats why he tells her to remove it, because it reminds him of his responsibility to her and his guilt.
Here we see Gray’s wide eyes of discomfort. His prolonged silence. He’s obviously uncomfortable, in fact he can’t even look at Juvia for very long. It reminds him of the fact he’s not being true to his own happiness, sacrificing his joy for hers. But because our ice boy is so compassionate and guilt ridden he does so anyway. 🥲

And here we see him flirting with Lucy! He’s actually looking at her, and smiling. He looks happy. He doesn’t have to look away because he likes what he sees and he wants to look. It’s respectful, it’s cute and most importantly its authentically him. There’s no wide eyes of hesitation, no anxious frown. None of that, Gray just says that line with no struggle because it’s what Gray really wants to say and this in my opinion will always be the superior Gray. When he’s being himself.

Not once does he take his eyes off of her, not once does he stop smiling, and honestly it warms my heart to see and i’m glad to end this heavy post on a good note. After seeing Gray act so… sad the first half of this post I really needed a pallet cleanser. So I’m leaving this little rant post here, I feel very heavy emotionally after writing this just thinking about the trauma Gray goes through. It really is a tragedy. He’s not allowed to be happy as long as hes with Juvia because he knows its not what he wants. But, unfortunately 100yq gray is completely blinded by guilt and Juvia’s manipulation so I doubt we’ll see the old Gray back anytime soon.
We miss you Gray, please don’t let Juvia turn you into her monster of a self!

You know, i've always really liked Ink's concept of forgiveness/way to deal with conflicts and now with your jewish interpretation, i like it even more!
So, according to Ink's FAQ, Ink never tries to attack a enemy first and always tries to reconcile and understand where the problem is coming from, which includes him talking with the enemy in order to be able understand the issue and try to brush them in the right direction.
You may already now this but i realllyyy want to explain for anyone who doesn't, there's a concept in judaism called "teshuvah" (meaning "repentance" or "return"), it's a concept of forgiveness where the perpetratir undergoes a rigorous self-examination that requires engagement with the victim, by confessing, expressing regret and making an active effort to right thr wrong of what they commited.
I've always thought that his formula of dealing with fights to be very Teshuvah all around! In my opinion ofc
But anyways, i think the previous anon expressed their thoughts incorrectly because his need to "follow the script" is not a part of this headcanon at all. (it's actually a result of his abandonment issues, dissociative outlook on pretty much everything and always thinking what's best for the creators rather than what's better for him but i digress)
What i could however consider a part of this interpretation is his importance on life and the creations. It was said by comyet that Ink thinks all creations/life should exist because "it's fair", and that's actually one of the main reasons to why he decided to protect such creations in the first place! He loves them with all if his nonexistent heart and wants them to exist (this does imply that he protects AU's with bad endings but i'm trying to focus more on his want for living you know?)
yes !!! finally someone talks about Ink's fighting style...... It is so important to me that he's not this aggressor- in reality he'll do anything to not have to fight/aim to kill. He's a talker!! Fighting uses up his ink and that can always be dangerous (in how I write Ink- he does fight a bit more often but there's reasons for that. I still like to keep in mind his usual fighting style. and also my Ink is Not canon). It's really interesting to connect teshuvah with his fighting style... turning it around in my brain. honestly I always find thinking about forgiveness and how characters would deal with it super super interesting. I am always thinking about how Ink would deal with forgiveness. does he acknowledge his own mistakes... I think he'd more openly engage with his mistakes towards the Creators than he would for other people. is he haunted by his actions towards other characters. is he??? does he understand that's what he's feeling??? I NEED TO KNOW !! WAHGAG. Ink you're so cool and interesting I love youuuuu. I love thinking about Ink's worldview <3 I agree with everything you said about his attitude towards the scripts- I haven't seen it put into words often but there is something super intriguing about how at the same time he's both self sacrificial and selfish. I say selfish in the most non judgmental way to be clear, textbook definition of the word. How I see his desire to keep the scripts running is both out of deep respect for the creators and out of a desire to keep them happy so they keep creating (giving him access to the life force he needs). But, at the same time, this means everyone he cares about is put at risk (his dads!!!!!!). He's sacrificing his own personal attachments so he can focus on his own survival (at least, in part. I do think it's clear he just loves the creators). I do agree that his love for all creations is very Jewish of him <3. slaps the top of Ink. you can store so much love in this lad. soul or not. I think there might also be something to how he views everything as fiction- you can argue that he's fighting for the life of the creative work. the characters in it aren't like. real deaths. technically. idk. there's a lot to think about !!! I love answering these asks btw I hope that's clear. everybody feel free to come into my askbox and talk about Ink and also Judaism to me
#ask#i should have a tag for this#Judaism? In my Ink? More likely than you think#there lol#also i actually appreciate how you defined teshuvah#I don't think many of my followers are jewish. so while I know what it means- it means that anybody reading this on my blog who doesn't#get thats definition

Imagine being so fucking aggressive about a ship you make jokes about Magneto and that very groomer scene from X-Men 97 that just... excuse the behavior? Because that doesn't sound very progressive in my opinion. Like yeah... rape culture in relationships just permeats fucking shipping but lets do nothing to argue against it. Lets make jokes that perpetuate the behavior and excuse men taking advantage of women.
To me having Magneto take advantage of a much younger mutant under his tutelage because she's desperate for physical connection and he's the only one she can touch is meant to showcase A) how Gambit contrasts Magneto and B) remind us that Magneto is never above using mutants for his own gains.
If this were reality most people would be calling Magneto a groomer and worse. We know Rogue was still a teen when Mystique took her in. We know that she's been an X-man for a few years. So Magneto was patient enough to wait until she turned 18?
Historically he hasn't done well with his love life. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver's mom left him without telling him he fathered children because she was scared of him! (I'm only going on TAS and 97 here since this is an adaptation.) So where in the high heavens does everyome think he would be good for Rogue?
I don't care about the 'better than Remy' arguments because that's not the point! The point of who you ship Rogue with should be about if it's a relationship that is good for her! Is she their equal? Does she get treated with respect? Magneto looked at the Genosha council and without asking Rogue said "I'll lead but only if this woman I am trying to get back is my queen". LIKE DOES THAT EVEN SOUND MATURE? Magneto shows up, sees Gambit and Rogue being even mildly affectionate and starts pulling asshole moves on Rogue. And the narrative did nothing to make Rogue stand up for herself (which she would have) she should have told Erik "I'm a big girl I can get my own sugar for my coffee." She is shown numerous times to remind everyone she is no one's 'territory'.
Also wish to address the fact that making Rogue x Magneto comes with a 'sex is the only thing that matters!' Flavor that is exactly what so many of us are tired of in shipping. When did shipping stop being about the drama of a couple fighting against a narrative that pushes them apart or about finding love in the most unconventional of places, like alien hunting? And become solely about how nasty they can fuck? Seriously?
AND it's so blandly hetero it's not even funny. Because honestly the ways in which a couple can experience pleasure that don't involve traditional p in v penetration is vast and wild and there are enough types of gear and costumes and the like to facilitate that between Rogue and Gambit. Because that's all the argument has to stand on, is which man can fulfill her sexual needs. WHICH SHE HERSELF REALIZED WASN'T ENOUGH. She kisses Erik and goes "nope they're ain't any sparks there. This isn't going to be fulfilling ever."
Not to mention the fact that I can't genuinely see Magneto offering to die for Rogue. Sorry that grandstanding in Genosha was not the same. It was barely a heroic move... he still didn't save the Morlocks he promised to protect... he still failed. He couldn't save Leech and he couldn't stop the Sentinel either. Because yeah Magneto attempted to save Rogue and Gambit, but he did nothing to save the Morlocks at his side and he also survived without taking out the giant killer robot... but Gambit? Gambit said fuck it, gonna take this motherfucker to hell with me. He stopped Rogue from facing the sentinel so he could. And he actually stopped it. All on his own. Because that's what an x-man would do. Sure Magneto protectdd two people but sacrificed the morlocks yet again...
AND ON THE SUBJECT OF ROGUE x GAMBIT
Has Gambit always been great with Rogue? No, but that was the 90s and now look at how he handles shit? Comics writing has grown. It was a lot more heternormative and still had lots of rape culture hold overs in it.
Look at the episode when Cody shows up. He uses Rogue's connection to him from the past and then puts her in a situation that almost takes away her humanity. Her powers, which was what lured her into this trap in the first place, saved her from a man taking advantage of her. And the one time Gambit (in TAS) takes advantage of her, Morph in her form, told him to come and get some from her first. (So while he should have paused and woke Rogue up before kissing her, he had what he thought was an invitation.)
Gambit takes Rogue's decision to rule Genosha with Magneto incredibly well. He doesn't get mad, he doesn't call Rogue names, he doesn't do anyhting to hurt Rogue the way she is hurting him. He accepts it like a gentleman. Unlike Magneto who pursued Rogue's affections in unhealthy ways.
So uh... yeah that's my fucking rant.

Eh? And it hadn't even been a full day.

Anyway, do you know what this means?:

It means… that I don’t give a damn about your whiny gibberish about this top/bottom bullshit, because it sounds incredibly silly. (And wrong because I draw both?)
It’s fine to have a preference, good for you (I have one too!), but if all you care about between a character-dynamic is the single notion which establishes a rule within a fandom that demands only this particular dick in only that particular booty and nothing else, while dividing yourselves between "us and them" while seeing the people who like the same exact characters as your "enemy" and treating them as such— well,
I have nothing to say to you, I couldn’t care less what you think about me and I don’t know you.
But for the sake of other creators who are often a target also, some which I know quit because of this… there is a little something I'd like to say about these servers:
You don’t think I (we) know what is said in there and by who? 👀 That your rules of "what is said on here stays here" with a bunch of people online that you don't know, is actually respected? Why do you think I never join any. And bet your ass that I'm not the only one. This constant fighting between NS/SN is such an embarrassment for this fandom, seriously. I hope you realize that.
Because, instead of encouraging a (new) creator to share something about the characters you claim to love (for fucking free) you go off chastise them for not “doing it right”/“your way”, pretending it's some unspoken commission no one knew of or was paid for. Instead of being happy there’s still so much creative contribution for characters from a story that ended years ago, you go complain under fanfics and dishearten writers, often grinning away with your little server-“friends” and make fun of work someone poured their heart in. Or, you huff, puff and breathe fire as you make plans to cancel them out of pure bitterness, to the point (especially new) creators are too scared and dispirited to ever share anything again. It's easy to do anonymously, aye? And if you think that doesn’t affect their lives and sends them right back into a crestfallen pit of dark hell because it prevents them to do/share the single thing in life that gave them a bit of joy, then...
Congratulations; you’re a heartless bastard.
And you, as a fan, did yourself dirty too.
Do you know how many people don’t want to share anything at all for this fandom because you people leave comments, tags, asks, tweets constantly complaining about an incorrect portrayal of the (in your opinion) only acceptable dynamic, like a bunch a brats? Do you? Because I’ve talked to quite a few of these discouraged creators, they have to hope for the best and pray they’re spared from your scrutiny. I receive it from both sides every now and then.
Again, congratulations: you’re the reason there’s less chance of you getting what you want in the first place.
Do you... really not realize?
The more you squabble with "your enemy" (lol) the more it affects the "us" you care about while the rest of us just bask in the glory that is SNS/NSN and couldn't care less about what you think/have to say. So, keep everyone else out of it and go mope elsewhere.
But, between you and me? There are better ways to share what you think is right. Make something yourself, because what's stopping you?
You’re perfectly capable, it doesn’t have to be art or a fic, maybe there’s just something in the story that you really enjoyed— write about it. Make a meta. Post the panel, show the moment that determined your undying love for this single dynamic and why— whatever. Because, wouldn't it be nice having someone encourage you to create something you like? 😬 Especially because you and your server feel so strongly about it? And then you don't have to depend on others either?
Wouldn't it be nice?
Well?
Hm!?
Try it, ffs.
