what if i was the hero you loved gone wrong. defeated and destroyed. rebuilt as my own greatest enemy. what if i lost everything. what if i had been reprogrammed to despise all i had once fought for. what if i couldn't even remember why i had fought at all.

and what if you were made of roses. what if you represented every beautiful thing i once died trying to protect. what if you wore flowers in your hair and cared for small creatures and had eyes the color of the forests i used to call my home. what if you were everything i once loved.

those memories are just out of my reach. infuriatingly. maddeningly. but if anyone knows who i am (who i used to be) it's you. if anyone can make me feel like who i used to be (who i really am) it's you. i can't speak, i can't breathe, i can't remember anything (but you).

Going insane thinking about Martlet at the end of the Aborted No Mercy Run.

You have a human standing before you. They have proven themself to be just as dangerous as your mentor said they'd be: through the Dark Ruins, Lower Snowdin, and the Dunes, they had carved out a trail of dust and death and misery. Dozens of your fellow monsters have fallen under their gun.

And yet! This human granted mercy to you and a bunch of half-rusted robots. Is that enough kindness within them to make them worthy of redemption? Should you let them go unpunished? Families have been irreparably destroyed, friends and fellow citizens have been slaughtered on their quest for vengeance. This wasn't some frightened kid defending themself; all of their actions--all of those deaths--were deliberate. If people knew that you took them in, they'd tear down your doors demanding bloodshed for all the grief this human inflicted on the Underground and brand you a villain. No matter what you do, whether it be to kill them or grant them mercy, dozens are dead regardless.

And yet, this human, Clover (though you're the only one who knows their name), isn't attacking you. Even when you've thrown away the only chance you had at defeating them, they're not attacking you. They're listening to your idea about staying with you, they either agree or hesitate at the prospect of staying with you before agreeing. They've agreed to put their tendency towards violence/dustshed behind them and to try to be peaceful. You've never been quite sure if you've made the best choices until after you've made them, but this one? In this moment, this one results in the least amount of violence and death between the two of you.

Is this the best choice and outcome for this situation? I don't know, I'm not qualified enough to answer that. But if it wasn't for Flowey's meddling, it would have worked.

Actually, THEY BOTH have Frankenstein's monster vibes to them! Deanna being brought back from the dead (and after all that work, still unwanted) and FRIDA in this "learning to live" way of living, also a low-key 'looking for my creator' vibes that live in their interest about Aeor and their past.

junkyard dog is a spectacular episode but something i wonder about is how exactly they "recreated" kitt as an AI, where they were pulling that data from or if he was truly a New kitt. it's one of my favorite Robot Conundrums, copies and missing data, when does one you Start and another Stop. bonnie even touched on this when they were surveying the damage, she can recreate his body, his code, but she might not be able to recreate kitt as a person.

if they kept copies of his AI that bonnie was updating, then that would make enough sense, it's as easy as copying the data back over. but it would still be a copy, and you wouldn't be able to program a replacement from scratch - that would be starting over. from the sounds of things in the episode, that's exactly what it was. people are more than their "code", you're a culmination of your lived experiences. the experiences of your life all inform your personality. if any person on earth were genetically cloned and born and raised, that person wouldn't act the same as the original person. they would Look identical, but they'd be their own unique person. realistically if bonnie were to program another kitt, he'd effectively be the same as he was in the first episode, a factory reset. sure, michael could teach him everything again, but they can't go through all their old missions and the lessons and experiences they got from them again. there's no way to recreate his life, exactly, beat-for-beat, and so it wouldn't be the same kitt.

it's a silly sci-fi show so of course they're going to scrub over the details, but it makes me wonder... if the "original" kitt died in that pit after all. they can recreate the car, they can copy the data, but it's still a copy at best, and a recreation at worst, with gaps in his memory and personality that were overlooked during the recreation process. every now and again michael brings up something in conversation, an event, a conversation, that kitt doesn't remember. small bits of his personality being different. he's similar, but he isn't the same. how odd must it be to mourn someone who's in front of you

i'm glad they kept the status quo, but it makes me wonder about other writing opportunities they might have explored if every episode weren't self-contained.

Wasn't having the best art day but I did manage to do some OC art at the end of it. Needed to practice drawing armor so who better than my Knight Aesthetic Forces OC, Glaive the Dog! He's kind of an ass.

This armor concept is probably not what I'm sticking with in the long term just a first attempt.

Fun fact; His wispon is actually a greatsword I will probably never draw because designing it how it works in my head has proven... difficult to say the least! Also he's got two prosthetics, his left arm and right leg.

And yes he does bite.
