♡◇ Dee-Dee and Mimi: Conjoined daughters of Tweedle Dee (nieces of Tweedle Dum) ♡◇
"Two heads are better than one,
One serious, the other fun.
But neither can tell a lie,
Good or bad, they'll reply."
Dee-Dee and Mimi are the conjoined twin daughters of Tweedle Dee, members of the Super Readers group, the Actorvists. While the group wasn't as known for traditionally fighting literally, they used their voices and words to fight back against the tyrant ruling their world; Dee-Dee and Mimi, known then as Thalia and Melpomena, brought light to issues at fold and encouraged the people by showing the good in them instead of the constant flaws being implemented.
They were also known as being masters of disguise, having an assortment of costumes and tricks up their sleeves.
Dee-Dee and Mimi were known to perform short poems and act out plays when fighting back, or to mock the tyrant king whenever they pleased.
Dee-Dee (poined bow) is the more serious and knowledgeable of the two, being the one to tell bad/harsh truth, while Mimi (curled bow) is the more carefree and cheerful one, who uses any small positive to uplift anyone and encourage them to not give up. Mimi was also mute, resorting to her using puppets and sign language to communicate.
Their worst nightmare is being split apart (literally), as the tyrant wishes to fix their "flaws" by any means.
Symbols: comedy/tragedy masks, diamonds/hearts.

the reason why people are angry about the 8cantwait is because we don't want the police violence to decrease by 72% but we want 100% of the police violence to decrease. deray (the creator of 8cantwait) doesn't represent or speak for black people (this will require your research to find out that he is more of an actorvist than activist). he claims that adopting those policies will decrease violence but some of these policies are already in place and the police don't listen. 1)
2) the cops aren't forced into accountability and the demands don't mention anything about holding them accountable. it just assumes that the cops will follow the policies without exception. since when have cops followed rules? any police force that has to be convinced of such basic stuff is not a viable public service. how will "72%" of violence decrease without defunding/demilitarizing? there are a lot of inaccuracies in 8cantwait.
I didn’t know that about the creator but assuming 72% is an accurate statistic (or even something in that range) isnt that better than 0?? like realistically i dont think theres a downside to enacting these policies to try to reduce instances of brutality? no one is saying this is THE end goal its just a step towards a slightly less violent police force and even if these policies only help in one case to stop some bastard cop from killing someone isnt that one life saved?? like this sounds very neolib of me I guess but i dont see how pushing for 8cantwait is doing any harm... and i assumed that requiring reporting of use of force is the movement’s call for accountability. ofc cops are evil and wont follow the rules but like those statistics had to come from *somewhere*.
again im not saying cops arent evil like youre preaching to the choir here. but it seems a bit dumb to criticize people fighting for a “72%” reduction simply because it isnt 100%. how do you propose to reach 100%? and dont say abolish the police because you know that isnt going to happen any time soon in america lol. defunding and demilitarizing are both steps that should be taken as well!!! no one is saying these cant be done in conjunction!

I keep seeing anti reylos following Dataracer117 on twitter but please block/repost that user.
They claim:
-Racists boycott to The Force Awakens because of Finn isn't real
-KMT bullying isn't real
-"John Boyega just threw Kelly Marie Tran under the bus for being "weak & not mentally strong enough" to handle social media as a celebrity."
-"[The Mandalorian] Looks like a dude, but since it's Lucasfilm, he'll probably be gay, bi, pan or something else I've never heard of before."
-They believe in racism against white people
-"Hollywood "actorvist" Riz Ahmed says a TSA search in April made him cancel his Star Wars Celebration appreance. No way did TSA detain him for 48 hours making him miss BOTH Friday & Saturday's autograph sessions. This is what creating fake SJW outrage looks like"
There's a lot of garbage in that account, I have no idea why so many anti reylos could follow an account like that.

Wisdom, inspiration, and guidance from actor, writer, director, producer, Peter Paige, who chartered his course and did the work to live his dreams… even a few he didn’t realize he had.
Growing up always moving, and starting over, he became a keen observer of human behavior.  Finding his way in drama club, conservatory at Boston University, regional theatre, always doing the work, his best, securing his future and his next step forward. Using his fears to drive himself, there were signs from the universe that he was on course. Landing his first TV role on Suddenly Susan, from his first audition. From activist to actorvist, besting Billy Porter and many others to land the role of Emmett in Queer as Folk, groundbreaking television and a career making star turn. He didn’t get the role of Jack on Will & Grace but did land a guest appearance on the show, and later lost a few gigs for being “too much like Jack.”
From actor to writer/director to Showrunner,  Peter went on to co-create The Fosters, and currently, Good Trouble. Where the ideas were sparked, and which of his hats speaks loudest to his heart.
Great storytelling from a great storyteller. Watch for the wisdom. Stay for the fun.

Hello Board of Directors—
I am writing to you at 3:40am because I can’t sleep.
Many of you don’t know me and probably will never have any interaction with me beyond this point but I wanted to introduce myself.
I am marcus d. harvey (all lowercase letters) and I have been a teaching artist at YOUR ORGANIZATION for over 11 years now. Maybe you know my name as I have worked with one of the signature programs pretty much exclusively since my time at YOUR ORGANIZATION.
I hold my undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill, a graduate degree from NYU and a graduate degree from Brooklyn College. I am an actor. I am a director. I am a writer. I am a college professor. I am a mentor. I have been stopped by the cops, racially profiled, called the N word. I have been overlooked by jobs not because I didn’t have the qualifications but merely because my blackness makes white people feel uncomfortable (I have been told that by people “off the record”). You wouldn’t know anything of that by looking at me. What you will know by seeing me is that I am black and male and there is nothing any of you can do about it.
For years, I have worked at YOUR ORGANIZATION with a smile on my face and my head held high because I believed in the work of YOUR ORGANIZATION, or at least I used to. I have survived YOUR ORGANIZATION through many transitions and yet I am only part-time. I am asked about students who have been through your program by grant writers and others, but yet I am not on staff full-time. I watched someone who worked under me as a teaching artist, a white man, get a position where all of a sudden I had to report to him and seek his approval for even being in the room. Within YOUR ORGANIZATION, there is systemic racism.
YOUR ORGANIZATION, like most arts nonprofits, will romanticize the struggle of black and brown children to donors and sponsors while many of the staff in the office of these organizations are white. Do you recognize this as a problem? I, a black man, have always had to report to someone white about a program dealing with a black playwright. Think about that for a minute. My blackness has to be approved by white supervisors. That is systemic racism. I, a black man, have had to sit in training sessions led usually by non-black people on how to deal with black and brown youth. That is systemic racism. My entire existence within YOUR ORGANIZATION is on the approval of the white people who “approve” my work and my timesheet. That is systemic racism.
If you are uncomfortable with this email, imagine being me, I have been uncomfortable for some time now and afraid to say a word out of fear. Fear that the whiteness around me will see me as problematic and I would be let go. That is systemic racism.
I am NOT asking you to make room for me at the table where you currently sit. I am asking you to examine who’s at the table, dismantle the table and build a new table that will make room for people like myself to sit.
As the board of directors, I imagine part of your obligation is to guide and direct the organization towards growth but how can an organization grow when it doesn’t examine itself internally. When I say internally, I don’t mean hiring an outside organization run by white people to take a look at the systemic racism within YOUR ORGANIZATION; I mean by inviting black people at YOUR ORGANIZATION into the room to be heard and seen. If there are not black people at YOUR ORGANIZATION, ask yourself WHY?
It appears black lives only matter when it’s time to raise money but otherwise black lives are erased and black voices are muted.
What is the action plan of YOUR ORGANIZATION going forward? How will YOUR ORGANIZATION make room for voices that are black and male in the room? When will black lives matter?
Here’s the reality, at any point, my black maleness can be seen as a threat and I could be taken at the hands of the cops simply by existing. At any point I can become a hashtag.
What will YOUR ORGANIZATION do to ensure the safety and growth of black people who are on the frontlines doing the work stated in the mission statement?
It is no longer acceptable to sit in silence, while you have the power to examine yourselves and impact the change needed within the organization.
In the arts, In education,
marcus d. harvey
— Update:
As a board member responded to my email, the response reminded me how much systemic racism in rooted in who sits on these boards and who nurtures and guides these organizations to higher heights. It was clear my voice was heard and email wasn’t read. I have to ask: When will there be a new wave of leadership? When will black lives and black voices matter in arts education? To board members everywhere….What are you willing to sacrifice for my freedom?

How veterans treatment courts can improve the mental state of vets involved in the justice system
LOS ANGELES – As the nation works towards normalizing conversations around mental health wellness, Melissa Fitzgerald, former “West Wing” star turned “actorvist,” urges others to support programs that help give second chances to veterans involved in the justice system due to mental health disorders or substance abuse.
Politicians like Arizona Republican Sen. Martha McSally, along with four other U.S. senators, are working on bipartisan bills for expanding veteran treatment courts across the country.   A majority of the public is not aware of veterans court, which is one of the reasons why Fitzgerald, now the director of the Advancing Justice Initiative at the NADCP and Justice For Vets, works to raise awareness about the impact veterans treatment courts have had on the lives of those who have served the country.
Justice for Vets is a program that is dedicated to transforming the way the justice system identifies, assesses and treats our veterans, leading the national effort to put a veterans treatment court in reach of every veteran in need.  Established in 2010, Justice for Vets has helped establish 250 treatment courts and has trained over 3,000 court staff.
Melissa sat with one of the treatment court judges; Judge Wendy Lindley, who helped spearhead a movement to develop alternatives to incarceration for veterans in the justice system, and with two veterans from the program, Eric Gonzalez and Jeff Henson.
Fitzgerald explained that Veterans Day is our annual opportunity to honor our living veterans for the sacrifices they have made for our country. She also shared the following statement about her work, the effectiveness of veterans court and why it’s important to support such programs:
“It is a day to celebrate those who stood the line on our behalf. Currently, only two million active duty, reserve and guard service members, less than one percent of our population, protect over 326 million of us every day. With approximately 20 million veterans in our country, Veterans Day is your opportunity to find a way to say “thank you.’”
As we honor our veterans for their sacrifice, we must ensure that our gratitude extends to all veterans, even those who may be struggling here at home. The sad truth is that too many veterans suffer following their service with mental health, trauma and substance use disorders. Left untreated, these issues can lead to involvement in the justice system.
It is important to note that veterans are incarcerated at significantly lower rates than non-veterans, and the number of veterans in jails and prisons decreased between 2004 and 2012. But many veterans are still at risk. In March 2014, The Washington Post released a report finding that more than half of the 2.6 million American veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan struggle with physical or mental health problems stemming from their service and feel disconnected from civilian life. The RAND center estimates that about 1 in 5 veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan has post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or significant mental health needs. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration estimates 1in 15 veterans had a substance use disorder in 2014.
Veterans are among our greatest and most valuable civic assets.  The vast majority of our veterans are strengthened by their service, instilled with values that inspire us all to be better – values like honor, duty, loyalty, leadership, respect, sacrifice, and courage. Veterans are more likely to volunteer their time, more likely to donate to charity, and even more likely to vote. Veterans strengthen our neighborhoods and communities.  We as a nation owe our veterans a debt of gratitude and I can think of no better way to express that gratitude than by supporting programs that work for veterans and their families. Programs like Veterans TC.
VTC ensure that when a veteran struggles with the transition home, gets in trouble with the law, due to a substance use or mental health disorder, they receive the structure treatment and mentoring they need to get their lives back on track.  Rather than send these men and women to jail where they will receive no treatment, Veterans Treatment Courts hold them accountable while connecting them to the benefits and treatment they need, deserve and have earned so they can return home as valued and contributing members of our communities.
