the acolyte confirming mae and osha are 'technically' the same person and giving them opposite arcs (osha choosing the dark side by murdering sol in cold blood vs mae choosing the light side by letting her sister/her attachment go because it's what she wants/what will be 'best' for her) truly emphasizes star was' core message that no one is above the dark and everyone can be redeemed. they're the same person. it can go either way at any time. we can choose the dark at any point. we can choose the light at any point.

i like to imagine that osha learning qimir's backstory, particularly the bit about whatever went down with vernestra, is the turning point in their relationship. something like he tells her how his master, his mother figure, whipped him in the back and left him for dead, and osha is just so angry and hurt on his behalf that she's surprised at how much she feels for him, and she realizes, "oh. i love him. i'm in love with him."

What really sucks about The Acolyte being canceled is that we'll never get to see what happens next. Qimir and Osha's relationship, how Qimir got his scars, Vernestra, Yoda's role in all this, Darth Plagueis, Mae's memory loss, and all that.

loved the new acolyte episode. the way it plays with the nuances in the jedi by having indara refuse to get involved bc she wants to do things by the book vs sol who feels this connection to osha, this fear for her well-being and feels that’s more important than any rules. both sides getting angry and paranoid and it leading to aniseya, sol, and torbin reacting emotionally & violently. sol refusing to fight korli because he KNOWS he fucked this up. sol willing to accept the consequences but indara, like sol & the witches, is trying to put this child’s well-being over some arbitrary rule. it’s so good and such a good demonstration of both how the jedi council works to stop conflict and how it is completely unprepared to deal with natural human emotion and error.

and of course, as expected, mae is not The Evil Twin. she sets the fire on accident, it spins out of control, and she’s held into this anger for so long because it’s a justified anger! has it helped her? no! but it’s guarded her heart against the overwhelming grief of losing her entire culture in a moment. and then there’s osha, who has no idea the events she’s set into motion - all she wants is the room to figure out who she is without everyone’s expectations weighing her down!! she’s just a kid!!!!!!

i’ll be so upset if the acolyte only gets one season and it ends badly like we deserve at least 3 seasons, especially oshamir full on corruption and then being evil together

im starting to get really hostile to new star wars announcements. im starting to hiss and bite. my face turns into whatever happens with bilbo in fellowship of the ring when they try to take the ring from him whenever i hear that there's another show

One of my fave moments of the episode is when osha chooses to be with qimir in the end. And she holds out her hand for them to shake on it, you know a solid platonic bro handshake to join the darkside. Instead qimir literally hands her his lightsaber, which is a deeply personal object for force user, as well as stroke her hand with his thumb. This man is down badddddd.

osha said alright 👍 let's harness my power together! but quimir said so I'm thinking spring wedding are u thinking spring wedding also?? and osha said I just murdered my dad 12.5 minutes ago and quimir said ok babe we can talk about it later <33 anyway here have my lightsaber and my life also haha 🥰🥰🥰 ...........................
