i want to start acnh but i feel like i’m so behind compared to everyone since i won’t time travel to catch up…. what do you think?
i think that you should play the game at your own pace!! i don't think you should try to "catch up" with anyone and just enjoy the game :)
animal crossing is a very relaxing game to me, sometimes i play when i want to build something or i have inspiration, and sometimes i just log in to talk to my villagers and hear the same conversations over and over again!!
also, there are many people who restart their islands, so i like to think you're never really behind in the game u v u i started my island in october 2020 and played until october 2021, then took a looong break and started playing again in february of this year now that i have the time again! so it's s never too late to start playing!

february productivity challenge days 9 & 10
yesterday was wildly busy. i began the day with my patient practical lab where i compounded a vaginal suppository then had a counseling simulation for it. after that i went right to clinical rotations at my community pharmacy where i stayed until close to see the closing procedures. spending roughly 14 hours out of the house exhausted me physically and mentally, so i wasn't super productive after that.
today, i decided to skip lectures to have a self-care and catch-up day because i was beginning to fall behind on some coursework and in general was beginning to feel some burnout creeping in hardcore. i cleaned up my space, played acnh, then got to some of the trainings i need to do as prep for my hospital rotations next year. i ended up going to the lecture shown above because it was late in the afternoon and i was feeling a lot better by then. i want to get some writing done tonight as i finally have a plan for my valentines fic but i also have some lecture videos to watch still.
day 9: have you been anywhere recently for the first time? how was the experience? so i've still been really cautious with the pandemic due to being immunocompromised and working in healthcare settings. basically, no i haven't but i do plan on checking out a new (to me) branch of the city library this weekend <3
day 10: what's your daily, weekly and monthly planning method? how detailed are you with it? well, i used to be a lot better at it. up until this year, i had a bullet journal that kept track of everything. eventually it got too hard to keep up with and i kept forgetting to make spreads, so i had to transition to just a normal planner. i have a clever fox planner which has some good productivity and reflective questions throughout. also, i have a whiteboard calendar on the wall beside my desk that is kind of my saving grace at this point. but yeah, i need every detail of my life planned out otherwise i will forget everything.

ive made a few of these bingo sheets and theyre fun so i decided to make one not just for e3 but also JUST for splatoon 3 (not just for e3 but for like the whole lifetime of the game). also heres my updated list of characters id like to see in smash, ordered generally by which id like more and/or think are the most realistic
since min min got in i took out helix, and since i couldnt decide whether to add in waluigi or madeline i added another row (realistically i dont think any indies are getting in but i threw some in anyway). also i was like “oh yeah maybe theyd put in a gen viii pokemon” so i threw in hatterene since thats one of my favorites.
also as for waluigi (and shovel knight for that matter) i think it would be nice to see an assist trophy get in just to break that rule. also i remember being super surprised he wasnt in brawl (back then i thought he and wario were equally important) and even though that was based on a wrong impression ive still felt like he should be in there ever since
notes about the bingos under the cut
really is about time for those n64 games, especially now that mario is dead so theyre free to release sm64 on it. game boy games would be nice sometime too
would also make sense to include banjo-kazooie in that, nintendos had a good relationship with microsoft lately and the total absence of anything banjo-kazooie on the switch is odd since it’s a dlc character (every other one has a game on switch they can use for cross-marketing, even if joker’s took a while) and i think the best explanation for that would be that theyre holding off for the nso n64 app (this is easiest from a technical standpoint because all they have to do is make a deal to use the roms)
when are they putting octolings in mk8d
xenoblade chronicles x is one of the only wii u games left that they could port (aside from ones that wouldnt make much sense like splatoon and ssb4) so i guess that might as well happen sometime. also monolith soft might be doing something else besides helping with splatoon 3
im not ready for metroid prime 4 (im over halfway through mp2 and therefore the trilogy as a whole) but it’s been a while, they might show it and it could even come out this year
hal apparently recently hinted at a new kirby game or something
the upgraded switch is obviously going to be called the Nintendo Switch ͥ since they already did the ds lite so theyre clearly naming everything in the family after the ds family, theres absolutely no flaw in this logic. idk if theyre showing it, but unlike 2019 they didnt say they werent showing new hardware (just that they were showing software, which could be taken as denying rumors, but they sometimes specify when certain things arent being shown)
metroid prime trilogy also might come this year. would make sense to release it before mp4 since not everyone is going to buy a wii u to get it (and at this point that doesnt get nintendo any money since they stopped making them)
where is detective pikachu 2. i hope it has the blue pikachu from that first tease they gave us in like 2014 (2013? that was a loooong time ago idk)
they said this was MOSTLY 2021 so i am absolutely getting my hopes up for splatoon 2
the two sinnoh games could likely be there
would be super cool if oddity came to switch. and almost as ironic as megalovania getting into smash
we havent seen the botw sequel for a couple years so we’re kind of due for an update on that
it’s ace attorney’s 20th anniversary this year so maybe theyre doing something. theyre already porting those games though so idk. maybe he’s getting in smash
whats with that watermelon mario render
i held off on watching a playthrough for ndrv3 on the off chance it came to switch and i could play a dangan ronpa game for real for once but it’s now been 4 years and we just passed the 10th anniversary of the series (albeit during a pandemic when i wouldnt expect them to have done anything) so it would be cool to see the series come to switch. i think if it still doesnt after this though i’ll just watch the playthrough, 4 years is long enough. amazed ive avoided spoilers this long, i still know next to nothing about the game
im about done with acnh but im still waiting on those splatoon items. and i ran out of storage in february so i need more of that too
nintendo did stuff for zelda’s 30th anniversary so i doubt theyre forgetting the 35th. maybe wwhd/tphd ports, idk
been a couple years since fire emblem, intelligent systems is probably up to something besides planning yet another paper mario spinoff
miyamoto forgot pikmin 4 in the oven 6 years ago and it got burnt to a crisp and thats why it hasnt come out yet because he had to start over
and splatoon
the inklings scared daft punk into quitting so now that theres no competition in the robot musician scene they should have a daft punk style group
i waited and waited and neither of my top two splatoon stages (flounder and d’alfonsino) came back in splatoon 2 so i hope just because splatoon 3 isnt in inkopolis doesnt mean they still wont return
would be sick as hell if there was a real hide and seek mode instead of just sticking to your own rules in private battles. havent played that since 2015 but it was super fun
show us the effects of the chaos world
i wanted mc craig to have a song in octo expansion and they didnt deliver. heres another chance
splatnet 3 baby
cant wait for nogami to do a funny 3 pose
abxy came back for splatoon 2.... am i gonna be that lucky again...?
salmon run doesnt make sense if youre friends with a smallfry but they could either change the story context (you just fight “evil” salmonids?) or replace it with an equally fun co-op mode
amiibo!!! i think i said this before but they should label them by weapons if these cephalopods dont have genders, would make more sense (the gendered ones had different weapons anyway)
returning characters!!!! would like to see everyone have a role of some kind
maybe #GearForAll wasnt successful in getting the emperor/spy/mecha gear, but perhaps theyll at least consider not making that stuff exclusive this time around
squid girl gear should be back. and they should call it a dress instead of a tunic because its a dress. and theres no gender now anyway
as ive said before... TRIPLIES!! you hold one in each hand and another in your mouth. and you can spin around like the tasmanian devil
remove splatfest tee annoyances: you should have a prompt at the end of a splatfest to pay to scrub your tee (to make sure you get the chunks) also it should be on a neutral brand so you dont end up with an overabundance of ink resistance up (or whatever else)
better online and cloud saves would certainly justify having a second splatoon game on the same console, as much as im loving that it exists
hopefully theres a global testfire again
sooner or later the workers will rise up and kill mr grizz
remember in splatoon 1 where if you had squid beatz (via the amiibo) you could “play” it in the lobby and change the music? then you were stuck listening to only bubble bath in splatoon 2? why did they take that option away they should bring it back
looking at those apartment buildings in the trailer i think it would be cool if you had your own room and could decorate it
an octavio redemption arc would be fun to see. in the manga he stole the zapfish because the octarians had an energy crisis, and in the end they worked out a deal to share the electricity

Favorite Game Turned Econ Lesson
Rylee Perez
ID: 12968720
One of the biggest hits of quarantine was the game Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which came out on the Nintendo Switch Console in late March of 2020. From stay-at-home orders to plenty of time to invest yourself into new activities, Animal Crossing’s popularity skyrocketed. Animal Crossing is a passive game full of decorating your island, catching fish and bugs to increase your museum collection, dealing with home mortgages from a scary raccoon, and even entering the turnip stock market with the help of a cute little pig, Daisy Mae. However, you play the game is up to you, and it was one of my favorite pastimes during a time of staying in and keeping sane.
Opportunity Cost
There are opportunity costs to everything you do. Instead of playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there are an infinite amount of things I could be doing instead. From doing homework early to unpacking my room from moving states, video games don’t seem like the perfect use of time. However, in the right circumstances, the opportunity to decrease stress and enjoy entertainment outweighs any certain thing that a person could be doing.
Supply and Demand of the Console
Of course, my biggest struggle was finding the Nintendo Switch console - everyone had the same idea when it came to entertainment at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Animal Crossing series has always been a popular one, but quarantining spiked demand and the need for people to get their hands on the console and game. Even though the Nintendo Switch was released in March 2017, the demand increased heavily. In the city I was currently living in, the console was out of stock in every Best Buy, Target, Walmart, you name it. I was constantly checking inventory very early in the morning, even sometimes late at night. As it is very easy to get your hands on the game itself, the console is a whole different story. Nintendo made sure that there would not be an overflow of the product, there was more demand for the Nintendo Switch than there was a supply for.
Below is my character demonstrating the supply and demand curves for the Nintendo Switch as quarantine approached:
Microtransactions and Scalpers
After considering the supply and demand curves of the Nintendo Switch console with the ACNH release in March 2020, there is now a new aspect of the game that encourages microtransaction. Microtransactions, in essence, are paying for things in-game for real currency. Last month, February 2021, Nintendo announced a new-and-old update to be brought into the ACNH world - Sanrio villagers. While most people are acquainted with these cute pastel characters, one of the most popular representations of Hello Kitty, Kiki and Lala, and My Melody, people are eagerly excited to play with these characters in their islands that have been released into older games. However, it comes at a cost. These villagers are only obtainable through Amiibo cards - a microtransaction that requires you to pay for the physical cards of characters to be able to download them into your own game.
Presently, these cards are extremely hard to find, and if one happens to find them, they’ll be at the hands of scalpers - people who acquire items to resell them at a higher price. Some people create these cards themselves without purchasing them. While this is a type of copyright infringement, Nintendo has stated that nothing will be done about the issue. However, for people who don’t want to risk creating their cards, Nintendo has announced a rerelease of these adorable Amiibos in late March - where they know a ton of people, scalpers included, are eager to get their hands on them. As stated before, Nintendo doesn’t produce enough of an item to satisfy everyone’s demands of the product.
I’ve been playing Animal Crossing since I was a kid, and it excites me every day to see the game still running and being more popular than ever before. I’ve convinced my friends to get a Nintendo Switch, and it’s one of my favorite things to do when I’m feeling down or bored during the quarantine. Nintendo, sponsor me already!

i really love reading your acnh rants because SAME. and i wish more people realized it's okay to like animal crossing and at the same time be disappointed with acnh. regular updates are really cool but the game has been around for months and we still don't have basic items :/ it really feels like they released the game too early
THANK YOU, lol, it's nice to feel a little less alone on this! there are some things I enjoy about the game, and I have genuinely tried to be patient, but it's getting harder and harder, especially as they start to space the updates farther and farther apart and have precious little non-holiday content. it's actually kind of frustrating to see people uncritically lapping up the whole "you can sit on the ground!" thing as if it's a major gamechanger that adds a lot to the game's experience. there's SO MUCH we still don't have and THIS is what's getting freaked out over??? like I guess it's cute, but what is it really gonna add in a meaningful way? it doesn't provide anything but novelty that I guarantee will wear off very quickly. like obviously I am not lumping in the excitement over the new hairstyles in with this, that is a very cool and much needed thing, but sitting? I don't care. I honestly don't.
it's even worse when you consider the very real possibility that there aren't going to be many more updates, period. we're coming up on the one year anniversary of the game pretty soon, and the fact that the next update in late January is only gonna have a holiday that only sometimes is in February doesn't bode well. people keep saying that there's gonna be years of updates, but I can't find any official confirmation of how long it'll be updated and no one who's said this to me has ever provided a source when I asked for one.
if it turns out I'm wrong and we continue to get updates that add in all the missing content, I'll be happy. but right now, from here, it really looks like Nintendo is taking to heart the lesson that they can release an incomplete game and still make tons of money, and players will be happy with tiny scraps that ultimately add nothing significant to the characters or gameplay. and that is VERY worrying.

My ACNH villagers so far!
My island, Lorn, started with Pierce and Sylvia. Celia was the first invited villager! Beardo barged his way onto the island and his presence is not appreciated. Sylvia, though an original resident, is a very rude roo who is always out late with her poor, sleep-deprived joey.
Cranston just moved in today, and Avery will be moving in tomorrow! Avery actually shares my birthday (February 22nd.) Cookie was just invited to the island today! She’ll be moving right next to my in-progress peach orchard.

Hey guys I know I haven’t been super active recently and I’ll probably be even less over the next month or so.
I don’t think I’ll be able to work on the next page for Blooming Spiderlilies till mid-late February. Half of the lineart is done tho.
I’m currently working on 2 commissions AND since anime cons are becoming a thing again, I’m working on a couple of cosplays a con in February. Fixing up my lady Muzan cosplay (trying to make the monster arm easier to hold, also trying out wig styling for the first time!). I’m also either going to make Eda Clawthorne’s staff or make horns for Shino from acnh…. Whichever I decide on
btw…………. I’m also doing roleswap Nezukoooooo (not Blooming Spiderlilies design tho, made this back in 2020 just never got to wear it)
#the con crunch is real now#I can post some progress shots here#but I’d recommend checking out my instagram#since that was originally meant for cosplay stuff

so close to done with acnh
after february i’ll have the last of the dal items and will no longer have to fly to harvey’s islend and back to increment the counter. i will also stop going out of my way to check the able sisters (only going to do it on days when i need to play for like a visitor character or something, so if it’s a typical sunday or a day when im 100% sure a character i dont need to talk to is going to appear, i wont open the game) because theyre about to go from being able to stock 19 winter exclusive items im missing to only being able to stock 2 year-round items im missing and if i decide to get absolutely everything from them (and i dont think i will) it’d be better to focus on summer/winter when they have a higher chance of having new things
in march i should be done with flick, c.j., and gullivarrr. i’ll also be able to catch the firefly squid and spider crab, the last sea creatures i need
will probably time travel for redd (i tried the waiting game in new leaf and it was bad, and that was when he showed up every week instead of this biweekly nonsense), maybe would be best to reroll him once or twice whenever he shows up from now on and then a whole bunch in one sitting later
celeste and gulliver should be done sometime in april, which would mostly mark the end of me having to deal with these visitor characters (i will consider myself done with saharah’s rugs and kicks at this point because theyre too rng-based)
as i have since the first concert, i will continue to ask kk to play splattack every single week until he stops pretending he doesnt know what im talking about, or until i reach 100 concerts, whichever comes first (im going to keep going to them until at least 60 either way though since thats a stamp. im at 48 now)
but yeah sometime mid to late april i should be mostly walking away from this game finally except for coming back a few minutes a week for kk (and playing a bit whenever they do updates i guess). ive learned an important lesson from this about being a completionist with video games and i hope i can stop doing it in the future
sometime after that i will have to come back so i can start actually designing my island, house, etc. because ive neglected it all in the pursuit of Items
