Annual Routine #13
Dragging my self to finally writing this piece.
2022 tuh 🥲🥲🥲 Kinda hard to describe, but eventually it was a blast year, also the very balance one. Several high and some low, but not at the very bottom of it.
Gonna make this into three parts: 2022 and its abstract goals, the unexpected, and the whishes.
__
2022 and its abstract goals
last year (1)
last year (2)
2022 did not become any reset year sih pada akhirnya, lebih ke kayak, super-duper-adaptation-year. Menikah bener-bener jadi sebuah check-point baru. In my case: gaada kesempatan untuk putar balik. As I predict last year: melelahkan, at some point. The adaptation it is: yang bikin lelah. Bahkan habis menikah pun sempet ada fase questioning myself: is “my own life” actually end here? Hehe. Yeah, life is full of surprise and consequences.
I am. An adult. My 12 years old self is still inside, but others look at me as an adult tho. Knowing how to embrace it is the key for this year and years ahead.
And surprisingly, all the abstract goals in 2022 were kinda checked! Being a good wife (in my term) last year were: ✔ punya catatan keuangan yang rapi, ✔ belajar masak, ✔ berhemat, dan belajar agama. I was ✔ increasing the number of my writing, drawing, and reading last year also. Already ✔ finding the why for our next journey. ✔ Mastering being a GP thru internsip. But have not back to normal BMI :)) Semoga tahun ini!!!
The Unexpected
Alhamdulillaah :”) I should mention Agatha sebagai teman main ultimate tahun 2022. Dari cuma solo salatiga magelang, sampe ke Mojokerto sama Jakarta, amazing kak :D #applause #NgalahinAditSebagaiSuami .
All the trips were fun! Dari situ juga akhirnya realizing that yes, we’re an adult now. Happy striving for life, guise!🤍:)
The Whishes
The first and the foremost for 2023: I wish I can articulate my feelings better, towards anything. Also knowing how to handle things.
The rest are kinda repeating 2022: more active and achieve normal BMI in the mid year, more consistent and persistent in anything we do, more mindful in any activities and feelings, be it happy or sad, and fixing what need to be fixed :)
Bismillaah...
I believe that 2023 gonna be the year, mine and yours. Wishing you a tremendous health always, friends <3
Love, Bunga :)

New Postponed World Tour Dates Confirmed For Spring 2022
Louis Tomlinson today announces that he is partnering with BMG to release his second album globally.
Recording is already underway for the record, and Louis joins a roster at BMG that includes KSI, Craig David, Richard Ashcroft, The Prodigy and Kylie Minogue.
Louis says: "I’m very excited to start the next part of my journey with BMG.”
Jamie Nelson VP A&R at BMG UK says: "We are delighted to welcome Louis to BMG. He is already busy working on new music, and we are excited to join him on the next phase of his extraordinary career."
Louis also announces today the first wave of new 2022 dates for his postponed World Tour in UK, Europe, USA and Australia, including a brand new date at London's Wembley Arena. This show replaces Louis's two sold out London shows at The Roundhouse, and tickets will be transferred to the new venue.
Louis's first show at Wembley Arena will take place on April 22nd 2022, and extra tickets for the gig go on sale on Friday 14th May at 9am BST.
After postponing his 2020 world tour due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Louis will now finally get back on the road with his first solo tour, which is already completely sold out. The new dates are listed below. Further international rescheduled dates will be announced at a later date.
Last year, Louis released his million selling smash debut solo album 'Walls' which hit Top 3 in the UK and Top 10 in the USA. A lyrically personal album that proved he had found his feet as a solo artist, the album produced a clutch of acclaimed singles including the emotive first release Two of Us, the raucous Kill My Mind, the reflective We Made It.
In 2019 Louis headlined the Coca-Cola music festival in Madrid to an audience of 25,000 people, and performed to 65,000 fans at Premios Telehit in the Foro Sol stadium in Mexico City. Louis picked up the Best Song Award at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards for 'Two Of Us', which has so far hit over 100 million streams on Spotify alone.
In 2018 Louis won an iHeart Award for 'Best Solo Breakout', and an EMA Award for 'Best UK & Ireland Act' in 2017. He was ranked No.5 on Billboard’s emerging artists of 2018 and has over 60 million combined followers on social media. Last year he won 'Artist Of The Summer' in Philly radio station 96.5 TDY's annual awards.
In December 2020, Louis hosted one of the biggest live stream concert events of 2020, selling over 160,000 tickets to fans in over 100 countries and raising funds for several important charities. As a member of One Direction, Louis has sold over 100 million records. Overall Louis’ solo music has garnered over a BILLION streams.

Before we say goodbye to 2019 and with it the decade of the 2010′s I wanted to go through some of the j2 moments the decade has given us:
Like this classic from LACon 2011 where Jensen said he gets to sleep with one of the stars of the show:
Video | gif
Jensen mesmerized by his boy laughing (2015):

The iconic 2015 Father’s Day tweet from Jensen:

Oh nothing... just seeing the best band on the planet
The Rogue photo shoot (2016):

And this one from JIB 8 (2017):

Speaking of JIB this sweet Jensen moment from JIB 9 (2018):
+ protective!Jensen crashing Jared’s solo panel to be there for him because he knew Jared wasn’t feeling well he’s always taking care of his boy ❤
Jensen talking about Jared helping him build FBBC (2018):
“Jared Padalecki also lives in Austin, and we do “Supernatural” together,” says Jensen. “He was out there during the build out and helping us put in the walk-in cooler and tearing down some barn structures and sheds and stuff to pour concrete.”
+ j2 hanging out with their kids at Jensen’s brewery (2018)

This sweet moment from Vancon (2019):

+ Jared giving Jensen heart eyes:
This JIB10 heart eyes (2019):
Can’t do a list of j2 moments through the decade without including them getting matching tattoos at JDM’s wedding this year! (2019):
This beautiful hug at the end of their jaxcon panel (2019):
So many moments! And these are just some of them! This is in no way a complete list there’s many more hugs, and butt slaps, and touches, and heart eyes, and stories, and slip ups, and inside jokes and whispers that have happened in the past 10 years!
The 2010′s have had its hat ups and downs, there’s been dry spells and heavy bearding seasons and some dramas but it’s also given us some amazing moments! And through it all one thing has remained steady... j2′s love for each other. Their connection. Their bond. They’ve been together for 15 years, that’s longer than a decade you guys, that’s a decade and a half and they still look at each other with all that love, that’s beautiful ❤
I look forward to all the j2 goodies 2020 (and the 2020′s) gives us; Happy New Years my fellow tinhats!
#j2 tinhat#i would have loved to have done a FULL moments list but that's too much in too little time#this has probably already been done and way better#there's more moments i wanted to add but i couldn't find their dates#mine

Louis Tomlinson returns with his joyous new single, 'We Made It'.
'We Made It' is an ode to teen dreams and young love, which fuses both the euphoric indie influences of Louis's teen years with more contemporary electronic pop sounds.
The track is inspired by stolen nights out in Manchester in the early days of One Direction.
“Any time off I had, I’d go to Manchester for nights out with my mates. It made me realise I didn’t live in the real world anymore and I missed it. I loved being normal, reckless and stupid. It was the best escape.
"We’d stay up all night, talking about our dreams and what we thought would happen to us. That age is such an exciting time. You’ve no idea what the future holds, but you have so much potential. Where is my life headed? Who knows?"
“The chorus of We Made It is also about me and the fans. Between us, it has taken a lot to get here. I’ve had to work really hard, had to learn about so much about myself. I feel as though only when I get out to tour, to sing these songs directly to the fans, will I have cemented the start of my solo career.”
Today, Louis also debuted the music video for 'We Made It', directed by Charlie Lightening (Paul McCartney and Liam Gallagher). The clip is a continuation from his ‘Kill My Mind’ video released in September.
Alongside the release of the single, Louis announced today a Wold Tour for 2020 that will visit London, Glasgow, Doncaster and Manchester, alongside Europe, UAE, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, the USA and Canada. The full tour dates are below. To purchase tickets and for more information for the tour, please visit https://www.louis-tomlinson.com/.
Yesterday Louis revealed that his debut solo album 'Walls' will be released on January 31st 2020. The album is available to pre-order now.
Ask Louis why he only recently felt ready to record a solo album and is only now itching to be back on stage and he’ll tell you straight – the songs. His run of hits in 2017, including hugely successful collaborations with Bebe Rexha and Steve Aoki, were in retrospect a mere dipping of toes in the water. Temperature tested he made some decisions – Louis wanted to be an artist who had his own sound and something to say. Chasing chart positions and radio play had to take a back seat to making music that meant something to him and, in turn, to those all-important fans.
“There was definitely a process of understanding where I sit musically,” says Louis. “I have my own tastes and, to a certain extent, they are fighting against the musical tide. “When I grew up, pop meant Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, The Killers and Amy Winehouse. Times change, obviously. Currently pop is very urban and street, which is not what I relate to. Sure, I could make those sort of songs, but they wouldn’t feel like me. The puzzle was how to please both myself and the fans.”
Also yesterday, Louis premiered the first episode of his new YouTube video series. Watch it below.
Louis recently headlined the Coca-Cola music festival in Madrid to an audience of 25,000 people. Earlier this year, Louis picked up the Best Song Award at the 2019 Teen Choice Awards for his recent single 'Two Of Us', which has so far hit 40 million streams on Spotify, with YouTube views at 23 million. In 2018 Louis won an iHeart Award for 'Best Solo Breakout', and an EMA Award for 'Best UK & Ireland Act' in 2017. He was ranked No.5 on Billboard’s emerging artists of 2018 and has over 60 million combined followers on social media.
As a member of One Direction, Louis has sold over 100 million records. Overall Louis’s solo music has garnered over a BILLION streams.
“I feel like a new artist now. It’s taken a while for me to be comfortable on my own, to learn to trust my gut and make sure I get what I want. I feel the most confident I’ve ever been, both as a songwriter and a singer, and the most mature.
"Of course I want to be successful, but what matters is what my music means to me and what it means to the fans. That’s the priority. The rest we’ll have to wait and see.”

Louis Tomlinson has released a new single, “We Made It,” with an accompanying video.
The Britpop-tinged song sees Tomlinson reflecting on a struggling relationship, expressing pride in how they’ve made it through the hardships: “Hold your hand in mine/We’re never coming back down/We were just two kids trying to figure it out.”
In the music video, Tomlinson narrates a young couple overcoming an obstacle in their own relationship, set to a backdrop of summer-romance imagery: boardwalks at sunset, arcade games and more.
The One Direction member announced his debut solo album, Walls, earlier this week, making him the final 1D member to release a full-length solo project. (Tomlinson released his debut solo single, “Just Hold On” with Steve Aoki, in 2016.)
Zayn, who departed from the group in 2015, has released two solo albums so far, 2016’s Mind of Mine and 2018’s Icarus Falls. Harry Styles and Niall Horan both released debut solo albums in 2017, with an upcoming sophomore album from Styles on the horizon; he released a new single, “Lights Up,” earlier this month. Liam Payne announced that his full-length debut will be released this December.
Walls will drop January 31st, and to accompany the release, Tomlinson will embark on his first ever solo world tour. The North American leg of the tour will kick off June 9th, 2020, in Minneapolis, and will run through July 23rd with a final stop in Vancouver. Tickets go on sale to the general public on November 1st at 10:00 a.m. local time.

AEW women’s roster
One of the things about the AEW presser that struck me as odd was Brandi’s mention of equal pay, which she then had to walk back on Twitter with a clarification that didn’t clarify much:
What does that mean, though? Who is “entry level” in the context of an entertainment company that just started this week? Does this mean the woman at the top of the card is going to get paid the same amount as the Cody Jacksons or Goth Dad Crisis Jericho?
And - the point of this post - who are the women at the top of the cad, anyway?
I’ve been thinking about this. Who can they bring in to make a splash for their women’s roster? Jericho and the Cody Jacksons are a solid top for the card, and they have a decent midcard with established indie guys (SCU) and young up-and-comers (Janela and MJeff). PAC was a good “get” from the WWE, which doesn’t seem to be in the future endeavoring mode these days. Also Hangman Page is there!
So far, the women they’ve signed have been Brandi, Britt Baker, and Penelope Ford. Of those three, Brandi, who isn’t a full-time wrestler, is the best known, but none of them are exactly stars. Is it even possible, though, for AEW to hire true stars for the women’s roster?
The woman who’d been on any WWE programming to get released most recently, I believe, is Kimber Lee, and that was in March 2018. She seems like a good choice for AEW, although she wasn’t exactly a star in WWE; after a good showing at the first Mae Young Classic, she kind of disappeared.
Prior to her release, in 2017, they cut Summer Rae, Eva Marie, Rosa Mendes, and Tenille Dashwood. Summer Rae and Eva Marie are full-time models now, Rosa Mendes made a few indie appearances before suffering an ACL injury, and Tenille Dashwood has had an uneven return to the indies and a spot on ROH. She’s been injured since July, and is still affiliated with ROH, which, depending on the details of that, might mean she’s not able to go to AEW.
Japan has the best women’s wrestling in the world, and it would make sense to bring in some Japanese women to wow American crowds. But Stardom, which is the joshi promotion with the highest US profile (not saying much, but still), appears to have some kind of relationship with, again, ROH. Meiko Satomura is the Japanese woman outside Stardom with the most fame in the US, thanks to the Mae Young Classic, so she seems like a natural talent for AEW to pursue, but how likely is that to happen?
When you think about all the women who are signed to WWE, Impact, and ROH, there is not a huge pool of free agent talent out there. Given that AEW is emerging from the worlds of PWG, New Japan, and ROH, I guess it’s good that they’re even going to have a women’s roster, but how are they going to make fans care about it? No slight against Britt Baker or Penelope Ford - the latter, in particular, could easily be a huge star some day. But they aren’t there yet.
Here are my suggestions, and I know that Cody Rhodes and at least one Jackson read this blog religiously, or at least I assume so:
Santana Garrett - Her availability depends on whether her contract with weirdo David Mclane’s WOW promotion is exclusive. It might not be! Holidead and Tessa Blanchard are also on the WOW roster, and they wrestle elsewhere. Although, isn’t Tessa exclusive-ish to Impact? Maybe they just don’t care about weirdo David Mclane’s promotion? But WOW is on TV now! I don’t understand. If Impact is letting Tessa wrestle on other TV shows, then obviously Tessa should be on AEW. So much is unclear!
The Twisted Sisters - Great look, Thunder Rosa in particular is a crackerjack wrestler, and they are the rare women’s tag team that is an actual tag team, as opposed to a random pairing for a night or two.
Shotzi Blackheart - Unique look, tons of charisma, good in the ring. Wood be a great foil to Brandi or Penelope Ford.
Kris Wolf - This seems like an obvious choice, if the peripatetic wolf woman is willing to stop her ceaseless roaming. AEW is kind of a company built on the strength of memes and GIFs, and Kris Wolf is the most meme-able women’s wrestler alive today. Stardom owes a huge amount of its success outside Japan to TDE GIFs of Kris Wolf. Hire Kris Wolf!
Viper - Is Viper signed anywhere? She’s great, they should sign her in AEW.
Session Moth Martina - Another perfect fit for AEW’s young, hip, post-kayfabe vibe.
Millie McKenzie - Hurry, sign her before she’s on NXT UK! That might have already happened, now that I think of it.
DASH Chisako - She also rules!
Hikaru Shida - I would love to see regular stateside appearances by Shida, but I don’t know how interested she is in that.
Solo Darling
Rachael Ellering
Delilah Doom
Mercedes Martinez
LuFisto
Ivelisse
Kylie Rae
Priscilla Kelly
I’m sure I’m forgetting others, but all of these women are ready for a bigger platform. My fear is that AEW is going to make women’s wrestling an afterthought, a la Ring of Honor, and that all the focus is going to be on the zany antics of the Boys. I hope I’m proven wrong.

Super Bowl LII
Super Bowl LII was an American football game played to determine the champion of the National Football League (NFL) for the 2017 season. The National Football Conference (NFC) champion Philadelphia Eagles defeated the American Football Conference (AFC) and defending Super Bowl LI champion New England Patriots, 41–33, to win their first Super Bowl and their first NFL title since 1960. The game was played on February 4, 2018, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This was the second time that a Super Bowl was played in Minneapolis, the northernmost city to ever host the event, after Super Bowl XXVI at the Metrodome during the 1991 season, and the sixth Super Bowl held in a cold-weather city.
New England finished the regular season with an AFC-best 13–3 record, then extended their record Super Bowl appearances to ten, their third in four years, and their eighth under the leadership of head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady. Philadelphia also finished the regular season with an NFC-best 13–3 record but entered the playoffs as underdogs after starting quarterbackCarson Wentz suffered a season-ending injury late in the regular season and was replaced by backup quarterback Nick Foles. Still, the Eagles advanced to their third Super Bowl appearance, having previously lost to the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XV and to thePatriots in Super Bowl XXXIX.
Several records were set during Super Bowl LII, including most yards gained in an NFL game by both teams combined (1,151), fewest punts from both teams in a Super Bowl (one), and most points scored by a Super Bowl losing team (33). The game was settled after the Eagles converted a fumble recovery deep within Patriots territory to a field goal with 1:05 remaining to extend their lead to eight points, and Brady's Hail Mary pass fell incomplete as time expired. Foles completed 28 of 43 pass attempts for 373 yards and three touchdowns with one interception, caught a one-yard touchdown pass, and was named Super Bowl MVP. Foles's touchdown catch later became known as the Philly Special and joined NFL lore.
The broadcast of the game on NBC had the smallest Super Bowl audience in nine years, with an average of 103.4 million viewers. Average TV viewership for the halftime show, headlined by Justin Timberlake, was 106.6 million American television viewers, 9 percent less than the previous year.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles finished the regular season with a record of 13–3, the same as New England, Minnesota, and Pittsburgh, but the various tie-breaking provisions gave them the NFC's top seed in the 2017–18 NFL playoffs. It was a substantial improvement for the team under second-year head coach Doug Pederson; the Eagles finished the two previous seasons with 7–9 records. In the 2017 season, the team scored 457 points (third in the NFL), while giving up just 295 (fourth) points.
The offense was led by Pro Bowl quarterback Carson Wentz. In just his second season, he recorded a passer rating of 101.9, throwing for 3,296 yards and 33 touchdowns, with only seven interceptions. His top target was Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz, who caught 74 passes for 824 yards and eight touchdowns. Other contributors were two receivers acquired from off-season free agency: Alshon Jeffery, who caught 57 passes for 789 yards and nine scores; and Torrey Smith, who had 36 receptions for 430 yards. Meanwhile, third-year receiver Nelson Agholor had the best season of his career, hauling in 62 passes for 768 yards and eight touchdowns, a higher total in each category than in his previous two seasons combined. The Eagles rushing attack also benefited from two recently acquired players, LeGarrette Blount and Jay Ajayi. Blount, an off-season signing who won a Super Bowl with the Patriots, gained 776 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Ajayi, picked up by a mid-season trade with the Miami Dolphins, rushed for 873 yards and caught 24 passes for 154 yards combined with the two teams. Philadelphia also had a superb offensive line, led by two Pro Bowl selections: Tackle Lane Johnson and Guard Brandon Brooks.
The Eagles defense allowed the fourth-fewest yards in the league (4,904). Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox made the Pro Bowl for the third time in his career, recording 51⁄2 sacks and two fumble recoveries, and he had plenty of help around him, such as former Patriots defensive end Chris Long, who had five sacks and forced four fumbles, and defensive end Brandon Graham, who led the team with 91⁄2 sacks. Middle linebacker Nigel Bradham led the team in combined tackles with 88. The Eagles secondary featured Pro Bowl safety Malcolm Jenkins, who had 76 combined tackles and two interceptions, along with cornerback Patrick Robinson, who led the team with four interceptions.
Philadelphia had stormed to the top of the NFC by winning 10 of their first 12 games, but suffered a major setback on December 10, when Wentz went down with a season-ending ACL tearand was replaced by journeyman backup quarterback Nick Foles, who was playing for his third team in as many years and his second stint with the Eagles. Still, Foles was able to lead the team to victory in that game, as well as the next two. The Eagles lost a meaningless week 17 matchup with the Cowboys led by third-string quarterback Nate Sudfeld. Then in their two playoff games, Foles threw for a combined total of 598 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
New England Patriots
The Patriots entered the 2017 NFL season as defending Super Bowl champions. For the 16th time in their 18 seasons under 65-year old coach Bill Belichick, they recorded a double-digit win season, finishing the regular season with a record of 13–3, one of four teams (along with Philadelphia, Minnesota, and Pittsburgh) with that record. By virtue of the tie-breaking procedures, they were granted the AFC's number one overall seed in the 2017–18 NFL playoffs. The previous season's top wide receiver Julian Edelman went down in the preseason with a season-ending injury. Early season defensive struggles left the team with a 2–2 record after four weeks, and the worst overall defense in the league at that point. The defense came together as a unit, and tighten up over the rest of the season however, with the Patriots going 11–1 after week 4. Their sole loss in the latter part of the season came in Week 14 to the Miami Dolphins, adivision rival, though they were without star tight end Rob Gronkowski due to a one-game suspension for an unnecessary roughness call the prior week. The Patriots' defense was improved by several late-season free-agent signings, including Eric Lee, a defensive end, previously from the Buffalo Bills, whom the Patriots signed in Week 12, and James Harrison, a perennial All-Pro for the Pittsburgh Steelers, whom the Patriots picked up off waivers after Christmas. In just six games for New England, Lee recorded 31⁄2 sacks, a safety, and an interception. In his only regular season game with the Patriots, Harrison recorded two sacks.
During the regular season, New England's offense led the league in yards gained (6,307) and ranked second in points scored (458). The 40-year-old Brady finished his 18th season with a league-leading 4,577 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and just eight interceptions, earning him his 13th selection to the Pro Bowl and his third league MVP award. One change that helped make up for the loss of Edelman was the acquisition of receiver Brandin Cooks, who caught 65 passes for 1,082 yards and seven touchdowns. Brady was also aided by the healthy return of Gronkowski, who had played just eight games in the previous season, finishing this year with 69 catches for 1,084 yards and eight scores. Receiver Danny Amendola added 61 receptions for 659 yards, as well as another 240 yards returning punts. With the loss of their previous season's rushing leader LeGarrette Blount to free agency, Dion Lewis stepped up to take the lead, rushing for 896 yards and six touchdowns despite starting only eight games. He also caught 32 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns and added 570 yards and another touchdown returning kickoffs. Rex Burkhead chipped in 518 all-purpose yards, 30 receptions, and eight touchdowns. In passing situations, the team relied heavily on running back James White, who caught 56 passes for 429 yards and rushed for 171 on the ground. These backs were aided by the blocking of fullback James Develin, who earned his first Pro Bowl selection. On special teams, kicker Stephen Gostkowski ranked second in the NFL with 156 points and fourth in field goals made with 37, while veteran special team ace Matthew Slater earned his seventh consecutive Pro Bowl selection.
The Patriots' defense ranked only 29th in yards allowed (5,856), but ranked fifth in fewest points, giving up only 296. Defensive end Trey Flowers led the team with 61⁄2 sacks while also forcing two fumbles. Linebacker Kyle Van Noy had 73 tackles and 51⁄2 sacks. The Patriots also had a superb secondary, led by cornerbacks Malcolm Butler (two interceptions, three forced fumbles) and Stephon Gilmore (two interceptions, 47 solo tackles), as well as safeties Devin McCourty (97 combined tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery), Patrick Chung (84 tackles, one interception, two fumble recoveries) and Duron Harmon (four interceptions).

What is Seattle's Kyle Lewis?
Almost as much as baseball, I love Star Wars. That’s right, I said it. Now, to be clear, I love the movies and everything that’s spun off as a result of the magnificent original trilogy, but I’m not a snob. Yes, I loved “The Force Awakens,” despite its flaws. I thought “The Last Jedi” was even better. In fact, “Rogue One” is my favorite of the entire series. Yes, I saw the ending coming with about 30 minutes left. I had the realization that (**SPOILER ALERT**) everybody was going to die. But, what I wasn’t prepared for was the final line of the movie. For those who haven’t seen this cinematic masterpiece, let me give a brief recap of the last few minutes. A rebel shipped is boarded by Darth Vader (who’s pissed) after the plans to the Death Star have been stolen. He goes on a tear and destroys everything and everyone in his path using his lightsaber and the force. The rebels are frantically passing what looks like an 8-inch floppy disk along a crowded hallway filled with frantic rebels and pressure-locked doors before Vader can get to it. Finally, the luckiest member of the crew escapes the carnage and reaches a digitally recreated version of a young Carry Fisher’s Princess Leia. He hands her the disk and asks, “What is it they’ve sent us.” She responds with a single word. “Hope.” Cue John Williams! Back to baseball. I’m a documented Seattle Mariners fan and have experienced a generation of losing that’s going on nearly 20 years without a playoff appearance and just six seasons with a winning record since Lou Piniella left the Pacific Northwest after the 2002 season. Since then, the franchise has been decimated with bad managers and general managers that include the likes of Jack Zduriencik, who was described as “learning on the job” when he was fired in 2015. Yes, there have been times where what felt like a potential winning roster was assembled during this run. With the additions of pitcher Cliff Lee and leadoff hitting infielder Chone Figgins, ESPN’s Mike Greenberg even picked the M’s to make the World Series in 2010. That team completely melted down by June under manager Don Wakamatsu and finished 61-101, by the way. After Zdurencik’s firing, the Mariners brought GM Jerry Dipoto aboard to start the 2016. His first pick with the 11th pick in the MLB June Amateur Draft was an outfielder from Mercer University by the name of Kyle Lewis. Thirty games into his first minor league campaign, Lewis blew out his knee in an injury that left him with a torn ACL and kept him out for the remainder of that season and about half of 2017. However, he returned from the injury for the second half of the 2017 and played very well for Seattle’s Arizona Rookie League affiliate and the Class Advanced A Modesto Nuts with a .740 OPS and seven homers in 49 total games. He put together similar campaigns for the 2018 and 2019 season with the Nuts and Arkansas Travelers. Touted as the future of Seattle’s outfield and the bat to anchor the batting order, Mariners fans were continually fed Lewis’ stats on social media displaying his ability at the plate. However, fans weren’t entirely sure when Lewis would make his appearance in Seattle. I mean, he seemed ready by all accounts. On Sept. 10, 2019, Lew made his MLB debut by going 1 for 3 with a strikeout and a solo home run. The next day he hit a 3-run home run. The day after that he hit another solo home run. In his first 10 games as a big leaguer, Lewis hit six home runs and drove in 12 runs. Yes, it was against inferior pitching. The M’s faced the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Baltimore Orioles during his first 12 games. Yes, he managed just three hits over his final six games. However, he finished with an OPS of .885 and a 0.3 WAR. Lewis’ call-up energized a floundering Mariners team to a .440 September winning percentage. It was the team’s best month since a .500 April. After he blew up the roster and traded away nearly every veteran from the 2018 season, Dipoto said he was “reimagining” how the team would be assembled and started stockpiling prospects in Double A Arkansas. Lewis was part of the first wave of young talent to be sent up to the big club in 2019 by Dipoto. What is it he sent us? Hope. Read the full article

How Trevor Lawrence can be even more dangerous in year 2
That playoff run could’ve been just a tease.
As ridiculous as it now sounds, the Fighting Irish initially appeared to be a really tough draw for the ACC champions. Notre Dame’s defense was spearheaded by first round defensive tackle Jerry Tillery, experienced linebackers Te’Von Coney and Drue Tranquill, and free safety Alohi Gilman, who had 94 tackles on the year, regularly in run support.
Finding room to run the ball, Clemson’s specialty on the year (No. 2 in yards per carry), was going to be tough. The Tide looked even tougher.
Instead, Trevor Lawrence took the wheel. On third-down pass attempts in Clemson’s two playoff games, the freshman went 14-of-23 with 343 yards at 14.9 ypa with three touchdowns, zero interceptions, and 13 first downs. Total domination.
The title game’s flow has sparked a lot of debate over whether the Tigers are really now that far ahead of Alabama and how replicable their stunning third down success will be in future games.
But what if the question isn’t whether the Tigers’ third down offense was a fluke, but whether it’s their new normal?
For much of the season, Lawrence’s main job was to execute RPOs to keep defenses from loading the box to stop Travis Etienne.
Lawrence did so with harder throws than your typical spread QB ...
... but he was primarily an adjunct to Etienne.
For the last few years, Clemson has mostly been an 11 personnel team, using a tight end alongside three receivers. TEs can boost the spread run game and offer schematic versatility.
In the Tigers’ previous championship appearances, they had Jordan Leggett. He wasn’t a particularly hard-nosed blocker, but he was an exceptional receiver who could punish the Tide and clear up the picture for Deshaun Watson, based on how Saban contorted his schemes to address Leggett’s size on the perimeter. The 2017-18 Tigers leaned more on Milan Richards, a 6’2/250-pound blocker who generally flexed out only to allow Clemson to play matchup games with more threatening receivers.
For third downs and two-minute offense in 2018’s playoff run, Clemson had to lean on a different package. They’d play 10 personnel (one RB, zero TEs) and get Tee Higgins, Amari Rodgers, Justyn Ross, and Hunter Renfrow on the field together.
Without a TE blocking in the run game, this invited Notre Dame and Alabama to get more exotic with their pass defense packages. But on third-and-14 that didn’t much matter:
Against Notre Dame, the Tigers hunted safety Gilman from these 10 personnel sets. They’d line up with a slot (either Ross or Renfrow) to the boundary, where Notre Dame parked the run-supporting safety, then they’d pick on his inability to flip his hips on vertical routes. In the above clip, he guessed Ross was aiming to win inside for a first down, only to watch the freshman blow by him on a go route. On this play, he bit on a Renfrow double move:
Alabama tried to handle the Tigers with two-deep coverages, as Notre Dame had, and was victimized on third down to even greater extents.
Look at how simple this process was for Lawrence. The Tide have to figure out how to match up to Richard, Renfrow, and Rodgers on one side of the field. They respond by shading the free safety (Gilman’s position) to that side, leaving their corner one-on-one vs Ross. Lawrence almost has the ball out as soon as he’s completed his drop.
Probably, the Tide shouldn’t have shaded help to cover a Clemson tight end, but there’s little margin for error when a team is attacking you with multiple vertical threats.
Later on that drive, Clemson motioned Renfrow to the boundary before zipping a flag route past him to Ross against overmatched freshman corner Josh Jobe.
Lawrence’s ability to see everything unfolding and hit accurate throws deep is on another level. Guys like Ross give him a margin for error that he often doesn’t need. Once again Ross pulled in a one-handed catch, but at some point, you have to wonder if that’s just what the sophomore-to-be can offer regularly. Clemson has a knack for moving him around to hunt the weak spots before hitting him in high-pressures scenarios:
Both Notre Dame and Alabama also had starting cornerbacks sustain injuries, which exacerbated the issue. And when Clemson is putting that many star receivers on the field, who has the depth to keep up?
The Tigers had four features they’ll need to replace.
Left tackle Mitch Hyatt helping protect Lawrence, Hunter “third and...” Renfrow, RB Adam Choice boosting the pass protection, and probably outside receiver Rodgers, who tore an ACL during spring practice.
At left tackle, the Tigers have former five-star sophomore Jackson Carman (6’5, 340) joining four returning starters. Star RB Etienne will be a junior and better prepared to offer something in pass protection or flexed-out as yet another problem on the perimeter. At receiver, the Tigers have perhaps the best track record of consistency. In spring, senior receiver Cornell Powell looked ready to emerge as a dependable option in the middle.
They have extra flexibility from the fact that while Ross is exceptional at winning deep balls, he can line up in a variety of alignments. With his ability to run routes from outside or the slot, combined with Lawrence’s cannon arm, there’s nowhere to hide a weak coverage defender.
The scariest question is what will happen when hunting matchups for Ross becomes a more regular component. Ross “only” caught 46 balls for 1,000 yards and nine scores in 2018, and 12 of those catches came in the playoffs, producing 301 yards and three scores. What does this offense look like if he catches 80 balls?
It’s entirely possible that the playoff passing game was merely a forerunner. Clemson’s ability to spread the field with receivers who can’t be covered solo, combined with Lawrence’s ability to hit them in stride, doesn’t have easy solutions.
Back in 2016, Deshaun Watson threw 579 passes for 4,593 yards at 7.9 ypa with 41 TDs and 17 INT. In 2018, Lawrence threw just 397 passes for 3,280 yards at 8.3 ypa with 30 TDs to four INT. What could Clemson do with Lawrence throwing 35 times a game, rather than just 26?
The age of blue-chip teams running hurry-up spread offenses with pro-caliber skill players is still young. We might not really know what’s realistically sustainable in this new era. There’s a chance that Lawrence’s absurd third down production in the playoff wasn’t just a timely break, but a peek into the future.

Shilpa Ray‘s new album Door Girl comes out on September 22 via Northern Spy (pre-order), and we’re premiering a new song off that album, “Shilpa Ray’s Got a Heart Full of Dirt.” Here’s what Shilpa tells us about it:
I wrote this song after getting rejected by a record label for not having strong enough hooks. It took me about an hour to write. Then I started making fun of myself by singing the Anthony and the Imperials song “Tears On My Pillow” over the chord changes. It felt so good, I ran with it and wrote it into the song. I guess this is one of those making stuff with lemons stories. I think there’s a lot of uses for lemons in NYC.
The song does have a classic ’60s pop vibe that you could indeed sing “Tears On My Pillow” over (complete with a “Be My Baby” beat at certain parts), and with Shilpa Ray’s punk-blues take on the sound, it kinda ends up sounding like Blondie. It’s good stuff, and you can check it out for yourself below.
As mentioned, Shilpa celebrates the album at NYC’s Pianos on September 20 & 21 (the album title came from Shilpa’s time spent working the door at Pianos). Tickets for those shows are still available. After that, she tours overseas in October and does a North American run in November. All dates are listed below.

#12 Perpanjangan Waktu
Kemarin saya mendengarkan sebuah perenungan tentang kematian. Perpanjangan waktu.
Nyatanya, tangan kanan saya patah.
How if?
How if?
I believe in the moon, the stars. It’s that feeling that I’m a part of something so much bigger than myself that I will never ever begin to understand, and it’s something that I cannot control, no matter how hard I try. So, if you can tell me where that comes from and why it is so damn beautiful then I will stop saying my prayers before bedtime.” (Gaby)

It breaks my heart when people I know say they “hate country music” when clearly they only know the modern “country” stuff on the radio. I also volunteer at a Girls Rock Camp (formerly... we are more inclusive now) and every year I hear a lot of kids declare that they love every music genre but country! They vehemently say they HATE country.
I grew up listening to alt-country and other twangy stuff that didn’t usually get radio play. There’s so much good stuff out there, that doesn’t promote that white conservative mindless bullshit OP rightfully mentions (don’t get me started lol. That stuff is awful). You just gotta dig a little deeper.
I made a playlist years ago with kickass lady country(ish) artists with “progressive” songs I guess, that I’ve heard people claim country doesn’t have. Some random ones from the mix:
“Quarterback” - Kira Isabella (tw: inspired by Stuebensville r*pe case)
“Sometimes It Takes Balls To Be A Woman” - Elizabeth Cook (sidenote: Elizabeth Cook is freaking awesome. She has a SiriusXM radio show on the Outlaw Country Station called Apron Strings that is fantastic. Also I’d recommend the Outlaw Country SiriusXM station in general)
Classic example: “The Pill” by Loretta Lynn. In this house we stan TF out of Loretta Lynn
Of course “Follow Your Arrow” by Kacey Musgraves... that’s a pretty obvious one. And actually got country radio play. A lot of Kacey Musgraves songs ...
Brandi Carlile in general 😍 Like everything she’s done ever.
Okay more off the top of my head, not all completely country necessarily but pretty twangy -
Lucinda Williams (omg the album Car Wheels On A Gravel Road)
Neko Case (her older stuff is more twangy- I named my dog after her in high school)
Kasey Chambers (I remember seeing her on ACL when I was a kid and it like changed my life...)
Gillian Welch (angdjnbhyh YES)
Shovels and Rope (husband / wife duo) + Cary Ann Hearst’s solo stuff
Lydia Loveless (I love her original stuff but it’s also worth mentioning she does this amazing alt-country cover of Kesha’s “Blind”)
Jenny Lewis / Rilo Kiley (all of those catalogues recommended, though some aren’t that twangy)
Kathleen Edwards (amazing Canadian songwriter and musician)
Nikki Lane (more twangy than a lot of the stuff on here! 💛)
Lilly Hiatt (omg her 2017 album “Trinity Lane” is one of my all-time favorites and renewed my faith in music)
Patty Griffin (the Dixie Chicks have recorded a lot of her songs, like “Top of the World.” Amazing songwriter)
Margo Price does cool stuff! 💛
Okay I’ve listed a lot/rambled, I’m sorry, so I’ll stop there. I get really passionate about this.
I don't think I'm the first to say it, but country music deserves to suck for what it did to the Dixie Chicks.
