Writeblr intro
Hello! I'm KAKi, I go by he/him and I write original fiction (I suppose if I were to find a fandom I liked I would write fanfiction too)
About my writing:
I like writing character-based stories, so my main genre is romance, but I love learning and branching out. I like having a "gimmick" in my work, so I often write fantasy because magic gives more variety.
I like writing short stories and novellas that usually turn into series. I want my work to be easy to jump into and satisfying to put down once you are done reading. This is probably a bad marketing tactic, but I don't mind being unmarketable.
I generally strive to write stuff I would myself want to read. This means grounded, soft and cosy stuff where most conflict comes from the world and not from the relationships. I don't really care for melodrama. I had a traumatic childhood, so I like seeing the characters I like happy and thriving. I also try to keep my casts of characters diverse and nuanced, feeling more like real people than characters. Is this an impossible task? Maybe, but I like having a goal to work toward.
You can find my Wattpad and my first book here. I have so far published a fantasy romance novella, a collection of fantasy short stories and some standalone horror short stories.
My WIPs:
You can find the post containing my WIPs here
Genres:
-Fluffy Romance
-Fantasy
About me:
I was born in 2002 and I live in Finland
I started writing regularly in 2020, but I have been a storyteller all my life. I lost quite a few friends as a kid due to info dumping to them about my stories too much ^^'
I'm neurodivergent and part of the lgbta+ community
I have a fascination with psychology and families/family trees, and I incorporate both into my writing
I would like to be a director of my own show one day
Why am I here?
I started this blog in hopes of finding new friends, finding mentors and peers who like reading/writing and getting feedback on my writing and how to improve the way I write characters from different groups and backgrounds.
I would like to encourage constructive feedback on this page as much as possible. As an autistic person, I find the lack of feedback in my normal life frustrating.
Suggest me things, ask me things, infodump to me about the shit you like, introduce me to your fav Thing and get me to make it my whole personality for a week!
When it comes to beta and alpha reading, I'm of course always looking for new ones as my projects move forward, and I will also do it for you in bite-sized chunks.
For anyone worried about spam liking/reblogging/commenting, don't be. Give me all of it. And feel free to tag me in any games, tho maybe DM me how they work first in case I'm too chickenshit to ask.

Ace friends! Is Asexual Beard of Convenience a commonly discussed trope already? Bc I've noticed it come up in some of the romance novels I've been reading lately.
Basically, let's say you're writing a story about forbidden, usually gay*, love. Due to social pressure, at least one of our heroes needs to get married/procreate. What luck! An ABC just popped up who also needs to get married due to social pressure and needs a partner who won't try to have sex with them! Now your heroic romantic couple don't have to trick some poor hetero into a loveless marriage just to cover for them, they have a coconspirator instead! And you, lucky author, get to cross off another square on your diversity bingo card!
Like all tropes, this is just a pattern, not a condemnation. As long as you treat your ABC as a real character and not a plot device or deus ex machina, I'm all for it. Being a snarky bitch is just how I write.
*I once read an omegaverse story with a biological alpha who sexually identifies as an omega and has a Forbidden Alpha Lover so he marries an ace omega... It was a whole thing.
#Is Daniela from Sense8 an ABC? discuss#Anyway stop whining that you can't include ace characters bc you're a romance writer I just gave you the blueprint#Writing#Tropes#Ace#asexual#Acearo

"AMATONORMATIVITY" MAY BE REAL IN A WAY, BUT ITS PRIMARY TARGETS ARE NOT AROMANTIC PEOPLE
* Do not call me, the writer of this post, "allo" or "an allo" in any manner. I am a gay victim of CSA and repeated relationship abuse, and my relationship to romance and sex is shaped by a lifetime of trauma. If you trivialize me into your "allo boogeyman", my response will not be kind
I spent hours upon hours yesterday in the "amatonormativity" tag, reading blog posts from over a hundred individuals as well as longer entries structured as articles and even excerpts from published books - you can't accuse me of pulling a definition of "amatonormativity" out of my ass, because I approached it with great attention and made detailed notes to identify those characteristics of "amatonormativity" that are universally considered to be present and harmful, and to discard the personal opinions of more extreme individuals. It is not my intention to engage with people whose revulsion towards romance comes from a place of personal trauma, but to challenge and refute the seemingly VERY popular idea that there is a societal construct/axis of power present in *all of society* that forces *all people* to couple romantically, and that romantically coupled people hold innate power over lifelong singles.
...every single trait of "amatonormativity" that aro bloggers universally bring up can be attributed to a different, pre-existing oppressive construct. Mainly "amatonormativity" is a jumbled mix of patriarchal/misogynistic ideals, consumerism and white supremacy. Also, the supposed equation of amatonormativity falls completely into trash when you try to include mentally and physically disabled people, homosexual and transgender people, mainly.
Familial/peer pressure to find a partner is cited as a form of amatonormative abuse most often. However, this is plainly a patriarchal standard. People perceived as women and men alike are expected to pander to the patriarchy by partnering - women, because they are still valued mainly as objects of beauty and belonging, which is to say, romantic partners. Lifelong single women are not harassed because they are single, but because they are unavailible to men. You can see this being true because lesbians are pressured by their families to partner with men in the same vein acearo women are - if amatonormativity were real, f/f relationships would be generally seen as an acceptable happy end for a woman... but partnered gay and bisexual (in f/f relationships) women still face abuse ranging from pressure to turn to dating men, invasive questions about their relationships, conversion therapy, corrective rape, forced marriages, violence and murder. Don't try to say "but my family would rather I date a woman than no-one at all!". If it's so, you are one in a million, and even then you surely have relatives and friends who think the opposite. Believing that a woman needs a (male) partner to be fulfilled is not "amatonormativity". It is misogyny.
As for men, they are pressured to find (female) partners in order to take their "rightful" place within the patriarchy. This is not "misandry" by the way - this is an extension of women being perceived as a man's right. A man who does not have a woman is perceived as lesser because of patriarchal standards, and is seen as emasculated and unable to wield patriarchal power. Likewise, homosexual and bisexual (in m/m relationships) men are not accepted by society just because they are partnered. They face violence, vitriol and mockery on a worldwide scale. Your parents are not asking you if your friend of the opposite gender is your partner & "who do you have a crush on" because of "amatonormativity" - they are doing so because of patriarchal expectations.
The idea of a nuclear family and monetary benefits to having one is also often cited as amatonormativity. But *the concept of a nuclear family was pushed as an antiblack political move, primarily to target Black single mothers and families that do not fit a white western ideal*. It is a racialized construct, and first and foremost a tool of white supremacy. Though nonblack singles also suffer the unfair tax brackets and marital expectations, they are not its primary targets, and if anything are proof that white people are willing to sacrifice even the more misfortunate of their own for a sliver of a chance to hurt and control Black citizens. This is antiblackness, not "amatonormativity".
The third problem, the one i see cited alongside the first two even though I do not consider them to hold equal weight, is the oversaturation of media with themes of romance and sex, celebration of Valentine's day, couples' merchandise and so on. *This is just consumerism*. Romance and sex sell so they will produce more romance and sex to sell more. It's lame, and I am against the trivialization of love in order to sell it as a cheap product. I empathize with the fact that the media you love is filled with cheap romance, because I'm not a huge fan of the genre and am especially uninterested in m/f romance. But this is not an unique struggle. You can argue that m/m and f/f relationships have been gaining more representation in media, but this is largely because companies figured out that they can make money off of them. Gay media largely does not exist because gay love is celebrated and valued. *It is a product to sell*. Gay couples in media are not "amatonormative" - they are facets of consumerism or gay artists' yearnings (and those aren't aimed at hurting you, and aren't the real issue).
Lastly... how can you claim that the pressure to partner is universal, when eugenics and marriage inequality exist? Mentally disabled people - autistic people with support needs, people with learning disabilities, speech impediments, personality disorders - we are all purposefully desexualized and deromanticized as well as demonized or infantilized for the sake of preventing us from partnering and reproducing. *This is ableism, and its goal is to isolate and exterminate disabled people from society.* Physically disabled people are desexualized and infantilized to an even higher degree, people whose appearances reflect their disability are demonized *and most prominently, people lose their disability benefits if they get married. This is eugenicist violence, and its goal is to weed out disabled people from society.* Where is "amatonormativity" now? Disabled people are not even allowed to dream of partnering.
And the gays you blame for reinforcing amatonormativity and forcing their love upon you? *In many places, gay and bisexual people are systemically encouraged to be celibate through religious abuse*. A gay person remaining celibate is deemed as virtuous! When I came out to my mother, she told me that she could accept my inclinations "so long as I don't commit physical sin". Gay people are not encouraged to partner. Never have been, never will be. Gay people also face medicalization of our orientation, conversion therapy, forced marriage and corrective rape. Gay people also have straight standards shoved down our throats. But we are not your oppressors. Gay love is encouraged exclusively in gay circles, and if you condemn our expression of our love that has always been repressed and demonized, don't cry when you make enemies here.
What about transgender people? Transgender people - especially transgender woman - are painted by cisheteropatriarchy as sexual deviants, as predators looking to corrupt. They are not encouraged to partner - no, not even transhets. They are deemed unloveable. They are wanted alone, miserable, and then dead. Where is "amatonormativity"?
In conclusion, the idea of "amatonormativity" stands on legs so shaky they can't be called legs. What you are trying to isolate is actially an intersection of the cisheteropatriarchy, white supremacy and capitalist consimerism. I understand that aromantic people face difficulties, I do. I understand you feel frustrated and want a simple construct to make an enemy of. But you can't dismantle "amatonormativity" alone because it is a delicate net of far more complex axes of power. Focus your strength on dismantling the patriarchy, white supremacy, ableism and capitalism. When women, gay and trans people, Black people and other people of color and disabled people are free, no one will turn on you so long as you don't shoot stray bullets in your pointless war on romantic love.
Feel free to respectfully comment and offer your differing opinions, because I really want this discussed.

Writeblr interview
Thanks @paeliae-occasionally here!
Short stories, novels or poems?
Novels. My stories are already long for that word count, how am I supposed to write a short story?
What genre do you prefer reading?
I am not a picky reader when it comes to genres. I've literally retyped this section five times. Please just accept this.
What genre do you prefer writing?
Now that's easy: fantasy! I have a long list of ideas to write about and exactly one is realistic fiction. TSP is the only true sci-fi one I have because it's breaking my brain. I also didn't mean to make it sci-fi but I had so many scientists I kinda accidentally realized I did when I was in high school. I need some element of magic, usually, to write a compelling narrative. I don't know why.
Are you a planner or a write-as-i-go kind of person?
I've slowly become more of a planner as time has gone on. But I also plan and write as I go. Whatever I'm feeling, but I usually need an outline or I feel like bashing my head in. So planner.
What music do you listen to while writing the story?
Songs with words. I just throw on a playlist of random songs and I'm good.
Fav books/movies
I don't have a favorite book, honestly. Idk the books that come to mind are like The Martian and Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda. So I'll go with my instinct.
Movies? Oh I've been debating this one for years but honestly it's probably Megamind.
Any Current WIPs?
The Secret Portal is the main one! Also working on School of the Legends when I can. Everything else is just an idea.
If someone were to make a cartoon out of you, what would your standard outfit be?
Plaid flannel overshirt, tank top beneath, jeans, airwalks.
Create a character description of yourself.
I don't know why but this genuinely makes me uncomfortable. I have to pass, sorry.
Do you like incorporating people you actually know into your writing?
I can't even describe myself! No!! But I won't lie that I have based characters off people, but I always try to make them distinctly not them.
Are you kill-happy with the characters?
I once was but now I can't do it. It's a problem. I don't know who to kill anymore.
Coffee or Tea while writing?
Coffee by default, if those are my only options, but I usually just write with water.
Slow or Fast writer?
Short term? Fast. Long term? Slow. I breeze through my writing sessions with ease. But like motivation and planning slow me down.
Where/who/what do you find inspiration from?
Me. And also the shows I watch.
If you were put into a fantasy world, what would you be?
I don't care just allow me to teleport.
Fave book cliche?
Ugh I don't know because most cliches work only in certain circumstances. I lose my shit at Checkov's guns does that count?
Least fave book cliche?
Hmm. I don't like love at first sight, I'll be honest. Like immediate crushes or attraction I've learned to live with because I realize me being acearo-spec means I'll never understand it, but I prefer slow burn romance.
Fave scenes to write?
Character driven scenes. I like conversations.
Most productive time of day for writing?
Evening. Probably will be early afternoon soon with my schedule.
Reason for writing?
I'd literally self implode if I didn't.

My acearo ass is unable to make allo OC. I'm a writer and I do enjoy writing sensual scenes or just reading romance that is more emotional than it is physical (maybe it lets me experience feelings I never felt). So to challenge myself, I wanted to write something that will have those scenes and also resonate with one song (it's irrelevant what song it is tbh). And as I started planning, I'm literally unable to use the song, because I have another idea that doesn't involve romance at all :") but I really wanted to write it!! I just! Can't! And I hate that

it's also very funny if they ask about little crushes or whatever and trent starts describing a "work crush" and at first ted's mildly bemused and concerned that his pen pal's criteria for what plants the seeds of a crush seems to include incredibly low bar things like "is nice to me more than once" and "hasn't hurt my feelings on purpose even once" but then it starts to sound more and more familiar. like they don't even need to figure it out at this point ted's just mildly amused that his pen pal apparently has a gaydar for 'nice foreigners with mustaches' (what a coincidence that ted and his pen pal's crush both fit this!) and makes a joke about him flirting with hercule poirot. and then much later when they figure it out ted gets to be like WAIT YOUR NICE HANDSOME MUSTACHE GUY FROM WORK WAS ME???
i still think the funniest and most mortifying thing that can happen in any sort of bantr/"oops we started talking online not knowing we knew each other irl" scenario for tedependent is trent admitting he has a crush on ted in any capacity. this goes both ways but it's funnier for trent especially if it's like "hm, name a celebrity crush". you're talking to some stranger online and you're really vibing with them, they're really nice and smart and they make you laugh and listen to you and you like them a lot and then you ask them a silly get to know you question like "what's your celebrity crush" and they say Your Fucking Name. what is ted even supposed to do with that. is it unethical to not say anything? but also saying something would be the most awkward possible thing you could do, especially if they think you're messing with them. and then they follow it up with a defensive "i have actually met him! he really is that nice and handsome in person!" and ted's just putting his head in his hands. on one hand this is incredibly flattering and kind of sweet? on the other hand oh what the fuck
#once again#this does go both ways. ted describing a work crush to trent and being like ah yeah he's got really pretty eyes#and GREAT hair and hes like a writer and hes very good at it :)#and trents like huh i mean my eyes are just fine but my hair IS pretty good and im a writer! haha i guess he has a type <3 & thn later#he finds out and is like ME????? ME???? TED YOU LIKED ME???? WH#also why are they talking about their work crushes? honestly i think that's not that weird a topic of being like#it somehow comes up like oh have you ever had a weird crush on someone at your work (<- probably trent trying not to have feelings for ted)#and being clear like oh dw i have no chance and i like you a lot anyway but it's kind of annoying bc the feelings Will Not Go Away#and theyre just like girls at a sleepover about it like omgg tell me more#then again what the fuck do i know about how normal people talk about romance#acearo spectrum babeeyyyy#anyway#tedependent#ted x trent#tedtrent#trent crimm#ted lasso#bantr au#gertspeak

For the Let's Get ((REAL)) fic writer asks, 🦋 and 💝
thanks for the ask!
🦋: what are you most insecure about when you post a fic?
more so “writing” than “posting” (i’m not sure i’m really insecure about anything regarding posting a fic) but definitely any time i write romance, especially if it includes sexual intimacy. im acearo with 0 real world experience so i’m like, guessing 99.9% of the time. i am fully aware sometimes characters end up sounding like petty high school students 😅 but hopefully i’m getting better.
💝: what is a fic that got a different response from what you were expecting?
humm… probably Snake Painted In Stardust because i did not expect so many people to be interested in my stupid little crack idea of turning Malcolm Reed into a demon by crossing him over with his “the immortal” character Mallos (it’s a hilariously bad show btw 10/10 do not recommend). any response at all was unexpected lmao.

As an aroace, I'm not a big fan of romance or drama, especially high school drama. But Heartstopper was exceptional.
It was beautiful.
It felt real.
It represented the struggles of the whole LGBTQIA+ community amazingly.
Long story short. It's AWESOME.
P.S.- I'm still not over this show. Waiting for season 2 eagerly.

Anyway, AMAZING CAST and WRITING is just flawless. A must watch.

I found out that I'm aroace during lockdown. And I was happy and confident AF about my identity. But then the lockdown was over and I entered first year of college and thus met a lot of new people and therefore I realised and noticed quite a few things that made me happy and sad at the same time:
1. That I was much more confident in talking to boys (which I wasn't in high school for some unknown reason).
2. That people, who DESPERATELY wants to be in a relationship, does exist (till high school it was a lot less). And they think that everyone will get into a relationship eventually because people have "needs".
3. I sometimes feel sad that I'll lose my friends because they all value their relationships over friendship. Now giving importance to your partners is great but please don't give any less importance to your friends.
This has been a vent session. Thanks for reading.

Sometimes I can really tell that some people don't actually know why certain ace/aro hcs are bad
#rat rambles#rat rants#well I mean most people just dont realise theyre bad in the first place but#during my time in fandom spaces Ive always seen a few writers whod have some ace or aro hc on their blacklist for being aphobic/ableist#and Ive seen a lil bit of that in the dr fandom too but... I dont think that a lot of them get the issue?#like Ive seen several people have ace taka on their blacklist for being ableist#and like.... ok first of all ace aro autistic people do exist but if you dont think you could write them well the whatever I guess#and second of all..... the fact that theres not like. a shit ton of other popular ace hcs on that list tells me you dont know how to#recognise the actual issues beond just 'hcing autistic characters as ace is bad'#Im mainly talking abt ace hcs since I havent seen anyone here talk abt how shitty the most common aro hcs are#but yeah its funny how people will say 'ace taka hcs bad' and the proceed to write like. ace gonta or something.#Im trying not to be specific since I dont want people to think Im vaguing anyone in particular djfndndh#like. Ive said it before and Ill say it again#I rly do think its possible to have acearo hcs for these characters and do it well#I want to believe there are people out tjere who are doing it well#but even the people who seemingly recognise the issues with one will still fail to understand what makes them bad#and proceed to write an ace hc or character with the exact same fucking issues#ace people arent stupid. aro people arent evil. ace people dont not know what sex is. aro people arent chosing to not care abt romance.#and god fucking damnit if your going to have a robot character be ace or aro dont make them being a robot the reason#stop treating ace people like babies. stop treating aro people like theyre inhuman.#at this point I dont trust allo people with making ace or aro hcs#like everytime I see some sexuality hc post and I see the first shit choice I try to be like 'well ok maybe they have other better ones'#because like. if you can show me that youre willing to actually think abt your ace and aro hcs Im willing to give you a chance#even with the ones that arent usually done well#I just wanna see more good ace and aro hcs#also Im not gonna go onto a whole rant abt this but I dont rly like looking for takemichi content anymore#not because people hc him as gay but because a lot of takemichi fans are weirdly agressive abt ppl hcing him as aro?#like. few will actively bash on it but they still seem to consider it the wrong answer I guess?#idk. sorry for ranting abt this shit so much dhfhdjg

I, uh.
I didn't expect this to get so much attention-
I'm going to be at college soon and so I most likely won't get to fully fleshing or even thinking about finishing the book until after I graduate. I'm planning on making a blog to make drawings or random stories with my characters when I'm confident enough, although, it probably won't be for a while because I'm only a beginner.
If I ever make a book it's going to be so painfully aromantic and asexual that any allos reading will die from a heart attack because of the lack of romance and sex

"m/f romantic relationships are boring"
No, they aren't. alloallo white, middle class, able bodied, skinny conventionally attractive m/f romantic relationships are boring. The idea that all it takes to make a good romantic subplot is One Boy + One Girl, and it'll all sort itself out is boring.

I'm happy for the ace folks when they have representations, they're just a few but they're there... Now where the aro representations? And I mean JUST ARO, cause if a character is acearo it's not aro representation and it could be actually worse for the aro community cause people will start to learn that someone can't be JUST aro :(
I'd be careful about saying aroace rep can't be aro rep, because it absolutely is. But it definitely also dominates the small bit of aro rep there is, and that's a huge problem. We really need more alloaro rep or aro rep with undefined sexual orientations.
I do have two recs for this for aro characters who aren't aroace if anyone's interested.
Amos in the Expanse series by James S. A. Corey, I feel while subtle is surprisingly well done. He's confirmed word of god (the writers say the only label that makes sense for Amos is aromantic. I'm six books in now and while he's probably the most sexually active member of the main crew, they do a good job of showing his relationship to romance which he feels makes no sense and seems made up. He's a staple character, often around but doesn't get a ton of focus, I'd recommend this more if you're enjoying the rest of the series, otherwise might be a bit of a slog.
Jonah in a Liar's Guide to the Night Sky by Brianna R. Shrum. This is a short book, and the alloaro rep is very defined and textually on page. Jonah is one of the two main characters of the book, gets a ton of focus and gets a lot of discussion on his identity as a bisexual polyamorous aro. Very well done and a lot of the book is about the complicated, non-romantic relationship he forms with the other main character during a natural disaster.
I know this isn't nearly enough, but I think it definitely helps to promote this type of rep when you find it.
Does anyone else have any recommendations for aro characters who aren't aroace? Recommendations for your own work is welcome too.

Writeblr Re-Introduction*
*Some day all these pages will be full
Greetings folks! Some of you may remember me, some of you only started following me after I went on hiatus. Since this blog is over two years old and approaching 3k followers, I thought it would be a good idea for me to make a re-introductory post before jumping back into the fray and tagging people out of nowhere.
My name is Nevada. I’m F in my twenties, I’m on the acearo spectrums, and I’m a self-proclaimed writer. In fact, I started referring to myself as such so often I had to become an English major (and I minor in film). When college courses are not draining the life out of me, I like to write, dissect the overabundance of media I consume, and cuddle with my rabbit.
I want to reengage with the Writeblr community. I hope to meet new people, dig into others’ WIPs/OCs, and rekindle my creativity. I also need a productive way to procrastinate working on my personal writing projects.
My WIPs:
https://gottaenjoythelittlethingzz.tumblr.com/post/182485797542/the-reapers-only-daughter-chapter-1
FanFiction WIP: An AU retelling of the Sons of Anarchy series meant to be a multi chapter fic with a powerful female lead and overlapping plot lines. Most of the content I produce on this blog centers around this WIP and the lead OC character.
https://gottaenjoythelittlethingzz.tumblr.com/post/186421906907/new-wip-introduction
(My first) Original fiction WIP: BGG is a period piece centered around Vikings, tribes, conflicting moral values, and social issues/stance that people of the modern times can surprisingly relate to. If only I’d sit down and write it!!
I’ve yet to write a single word for this story. The idea formulated at the end of last year before I entered my break. I’m currently working on an outline for it whenever I get bored of TROD and want to change genres/settings for a while.
I’d love to chat about either project and hear about yours in return!! Come into my ask box and we can do facts swaps, trade questions, tag each other in games, and share our processes! If you’re interested in either of these WIPs, look for the tags Nevada writes, my WIPs, my OCs, tag games, and moodboards. I take questions and story prompts as well as participate in tag and community games!!
What I write:
FanFiction (mostly)
Short original fiction stories
(Found) family/friendship stories
Thrillers/dramas, some action and romances
Large cast driven stories w/ multiple POVs
Narratives with LGBTQ+ characters as leads
What you will find on this blog:
Original writing memes/tips, tag and community games, edits/moodboards, and segments of my writing projects
Reblogged writing advice/memes
Reblogged tag games, OC/WIP posts/art from writers/artists I admire
Motivational posts
Interact with this post if:
Any of the above interests you!
If you’re an active or new Writeblr (especially if you write FanFiction!)
If you interact reguarly with the community and/or tag games (especially if I can tag you in return!)
If you write stories with animals, zombies, werewolves, vampires, or metamorphic elements (as these are my favorite niche genres, horror is not relative but acceptable)
If you write prison/gangster/crime genre pieces (as it is my favorite collective genre)
If you write stories with LGBTQ+, POC, or Poly characters
If you’re 18+ (not required but as I grow older I write more adult/nsfw content)
I’ll try to be as active in the community as possible! New content is neither regular or guaranteed, but it comes whenever the inspiration strikes! This blog also runs on a queue, but if you tag me in something or send me things or interact in some way I’ll answer ASAP! I’ll check out the blogs of those who interact and follow back!!
*Edit: This blog is a side blog! I follow and reply to posts from my main @lnevada A fandom based blog!! Come chat with me over there for none writing related things!!
Until the next blog update,

I'm snatching this because I'm supposed to be writing rn and want to procrastinate
Hurt-comfort, heavy on the comfort. Bonus points if it's platonic
On that note, platonic relationships and family in general, found or otherwise. I keep having to sit back and stare at the walls because I'm so overwhelmed by this scene I'm writing now (family members being reunited, it's making me crazy in a good way)
Road trips, apparently? I realized at some point that the majority of my fics involve A Quest lol
Christian themes, especially redemption arcs. How blatent they are varies from fic to fic, I have one where the protagonist just starts quoting scripture at the villain in the ending scene.
A cheeky bit of romance. For the longest time I have not understood romance (hello, local acearo here) but in my latest fic I am enjoying the romance SO much actually it's changed my perspective on writing the genre.
Tagging the first fic writers that come to mind, which are @clawedandcute, @galaxythedragonshifter, @thegreenleavesofspringand @moon-bell5
5 Things I enjoy writing about!
I was tagged by no one lol but some of my friends were doing this so I'm jumping in!
action scenes! Fights, chases, sports, etc... I like getting to focus on movement and the body rather than thoughts and feelings lol. And I get to pull out all the dramatic vocabulary >:3
worldbuilding! I LOVE being able to use all my random knowledge about language and culture and art and geography/geology and economics and--
anything else I can connect to my non-fiction-related interests ig! I like to center my characters and stories around stuff I like, like birds or ships or music!
characters who are very different from me! It gives me a chance to get out of my own head and stretch my creative muscles. More often than not, I also find ways in which they do have underlying similarities to me which is fun in its own way. something something the unique yet interconnected nature of humanity
bittersweet endings! I love it when my characters have to give up some part of themselves or something they love in order to live better lives. Perhaps it's not even bitter at all, they just realize they've changed and now have to reinvent themselves.
I will tag @vellatra, @atamascolily, @augustsails and anyone else who sees this post!
#tag game#I have written romances that I've enjoyed in the past#The one in my current fic is just#The way it's developing makes so much sense to me#Once the couple is happy and settled that's easy for me to write but how do I GET to that point?#Like this I guess

god, I'm just so upset about riverdale. what they're doing to jughead is unacceptable. unnaceptable! jughead is the only character in the public eye that has been coded as an sex-negative, romance-negative asexual. that kind of representation is important, because maybe I wouldn't've fucked myself up with compulsory heterosexuality if I knew not being attracted to people was something that I could be. kids need that! jugheads entire character was based off the concept that he and archie would be contrasting, with one who hated relationships and with one who couldn't get enough. riverdale has fucked that entire dynamic up. there's no way in hell comic jughead would've gotten with betty, much less anyone, and I'm pretty sure the writers only put them together because having a teenage boy uninterested in sex isn't #relatable, amirite? and cole sprouse is just sooooooo hot!! #😩🔥💦 gotta have a scene where he has his shirt off!! #💕🔥💦
why is no one talking about this!! a lgbt characters' entire sexuality has been erased! if kevin wasn't gay in this show, you can bet your bottom dollar tumblr would be up in arms about it. but I've heard absolutely nothing, and I feel like I'd have to really dig to find any complaints. people don't give a shit, and it's a problem! because that me they're erasing! that's people's identity that corporations are treating like an option! well, newsflash, it fucking isn't, and it's physically painful to see an acearo person be treated as straight. it feels like dysphoria, to see jughead kissing someone.
yeah, of course the comics and the show are gonna have different details. and that's good, because the show needs something fresh in order to survive, that's how reboots work. but this much change? there's no excuse. none.
#acearo jughead or bust#asexual#aromantic#jughead#riverdale#bughead#yeah don't come after me saying he's only ace either u know that's a lie#if he was only ace he wouldn't have gotten that intense with betty#fucking fight me on this I will decimate you#reblog ok

I think it's also important to acknowledge that Oda has only been consistently adamant about no romance between the Straw Hats will ever be canon. Not that any queer ship will ever been canon in One Piece period, I really love Bon Clay and Kiku but let's be real here Oda is a boomer and his writing of queer characters fluctuates wildly from really strong to horribly offensive. I know acearo!Luffy is a popular headcanon in fandom (one personally, I don't share but ymmv) but it's not canon. Oda, more than likely, does not even know what asexuality is.
What's more likely is Oda, like most shounen writers, simply lacks interest and ability to write romance. There's noticeably been an uptick in characters falling in love, or expressing attraction to other Straw Hats since the timeskip. Folks need to remember that Oda's been writing One Piece for like, 25 years, that's a long time and he's probably changed his mind on romance in his story. Clearly, because he approved Ussop/Kaya for OPLA. As a writer there's probably things Oda would rewrite or rework about early One Piece now that he's older, and has more general life experience.
Oda probably feels more comfortable having the OPLA writers write romance if he approves it b/c he either lacks the interest or ability. There's conventions Oda has to follow that OPLA doesn't - like the weekly format b/c of how One Piece is printed - and vice verse - Oda can literally draw whatever he wants while OPLA is hampered by real world physics.
I'm of the mind that I don't want any of the Straw Hats to be paired off at the end even for pairings I do ship (like zolu) because I don't think it fits the tone of the story, I don't think Oda could write it convincingly without it feeling empty, but ships don't need to be canon to enjoy them as fans.
The only thing that bothers me about the Season 2 is Tashigi. Oda never does anything for nothing and gave her Quina's look for a reason. And we all know that there are people shipping Zoro and Tashigi, although, to be honest, I don’t see how this “love line” can be explained, since so far Oda seems to have forgotten about it and her in general (I'm nor saying it really is a love line but let's be honest, is there another reason why she looks like Quina's twin?), but this is Chekhov’s gun that would probably fire. I just hope that there won't be any "love lines" with Tashigi in the series at all or even hints. Because there was nothing like this in the manga and anime. She always seemed to me like a character who was introduced into the plot for some unknown reason. However, do not forget that this is Netflix and you can expect anything from it with its tendency to introduce unnecessary details into the plot. Personally, I want the relationship between Zoro and Luffy to remain the same as in the Season 1, ZoLu-ish, I mean, or maybe with some aditional shipping moments, so that it would be as obvious. My concern is that even though Oda is against romantic lines, he still allowed Usopp and Kaya to be canonized, and although everyone liked this couple, in the manga and anime their relationship was only friendship.
I still want to see that Zoro who admired Luffy so much as it was in manga. And them being shown the way we got them in OPLA Season 1.
