❀ Iris and Shih-na hc doodles ❀

few days ago I got the impulse to draw Shih-na and Iris after getting a hc of them becoming cellmates in prison cuz timeline wise, Shih-na's identity is exposed only about a month after Iris goes to prison, meaning they could meet each other!

Which I think would be fun but in a kinda sad way cuz in my mind, Iris would try to be friends with Shih-na until learning why Shih-na is in prison and then feel conflicted af cuz, yeah Shih-na's a murderer but, Iris does seem to always try to see the best in others and is perhaps a bit too trusting of others (at least that's the impression I got of her from playing aa3 and seeing both her role in the last case and history with her twin.). Furthermore there are definitely some interesting parallels between these two, such as them both taking on fake identities (though Shih-na's identities are presumably made up and not talking someone else's identity).

Also this post is kinda a part two to my Iris and Lana hc post so I must mention that in my hc Shih-na also meets Lana in prison and Lana hates her. Why? Well it's cuz Lana did used to be the chief procecutor so she's definitely familiar with Shih-na (then Callisto) killing Byrne, Mack and almost Miles, plus she probably meet her in person prior to that case's events.

As for the drawing itself, it's not my fave as I still don't feel happy with how I draw Shih-na yet, I even re-drew her face in one of the drawings and it still looks off to me (TT O TT). but I really love how mix media and scrapbook this page looks! And will definitely do this more in future cuz it's just so fun to me! Hope you all enjoy too and my silly hc's ^▽^

Does Iris play a part in your AU at all? After everything she's gone through, I think it would be nice to see her be an aunt to the Fey kids.

Hello friend! She does indeed! She is definitely a doting aunt to Pearl’s children--less so to Maya’s, not because she’s any less fond of them, but simply because Pearl and Iris are closer.

After the events of "Trials and Tribulations", Pearl was intrigued and excited to get to know her older sister. After Iris’ sentencing and incarceration, Pearl began sending Iris letters, and they’ve been exchanging letters ever since—even after Iris was released from prison, and even into the events of the AU. They both agreed that they still look forward to receiving each others’ letters in the regular mail, so they continue to write to each other.

Unfortunately, though, Iris’ hard-knocks didn’t end with her prison sentence. She was able to find love again and marry, but it was ultimately ill-fated, and her husband passed away very shortly after their daughter was born. Iris never quite recovered from this trauma, and is notoriously averse to discussing her late husband. Sister Bikini and Pearl are the only people she has ever confided in regarding him.

The Fey girls also have an older cousin in Iris’s daughter, Laelia. She’s a good eight years older than Mia and Opal so she was never quite young enough to play with them on their level, but she has always quite enjoyed being the wise older cousin. :)

When the Fey girls are older and Sister Bikini retires as temple attendant, Iris steps up into the role and is ultimately the one who trains them at the temple, with Laelia taking her place as shrine maiden.

A few days ago I felt like drawing Iris in this outfit and using some of my Acrylic inks. It was fun but I do want to do a digital version of this drawing at some point cuz I couldn't get the colours just right and I might also change up the shoes and other details for the digital version, idk for now as I don't plan on doing the digital version anytime soon :P

Also I gave her a butterfly earring cuz I personally hc that pink butterflies are an important symbol to Kurain village, specifically to spirit mediums and come from Khura'in (cuz they do have the butterfly on a lot of things in Khura'in). To add to my hc, I like to think the pink butterflies are either associated with spirits, or are actuality spirits.

I tend to lean towards the later for my hc cuz we see a pink butterfly near Nahyuta in court (which makes sense since apart of his goal as a prosecutor is to give victims soul's salvation), pink butterflies appear when you get a not guilty verdict in Khura'in (and they even come from the Pool of Souls!) and Dahlia has multiple pink butterflies surround her when she acts sweet and wouldn't you know it, she's a known murderer (which adds a dark connotation to the butterflies that surround her)! But that's just a little pink butterfly fan theory of mind that is probably not very original as I doubt I'm the first person to make these links XD
