Hello again, folks!

Thank you once again for your continued support. We've still got plenty of time for signups, but in the meantime, we wanted to answer some questions that you've asked!

Q: Will there be any enforcement of localized names (Haori vs. Rei, Holmes vs. Sholmes, etc.)?

A: Nope! Since the writing and art done for this event aren't a single product, we aren't worried about adhering to a specific localization. We just ask that writer and artist pairs come to an agreement for their collaborations!

Q: Will I have to write/draw/work with characters I'm not familiar with?

A: Nope! As a writer, you get to develop your own prompts, so there's no need to include characters you're unfamiliar with. As an artist, you'll get to select three (or more) prompts that you DO feel comfortable with. In addition, artists will be able to list any characters they're not familiar/comfortable with, no questions asked. If you're not planning to collaborate, you get to decide for yourself!

Q: If I sign up as a pinch hitter, am I held to the same requirements as a regular participant?

A: Nope! A pinch hitter writer will be asked to aim for 2.5k, and a pinch hitter artist won't be expected to create as complete and detailed a piece as someone who's been working on a team since the beginning. The most important thing is clearly communicating with mods and your new partner about what feels possible in the remaining creation period.

Q: Is it OK if some of my contact info changes after signing up?

A: Yep! Please just keep in touch with us so we have a way to contact you; email and Discord are the most vital things for us.

Answering a few questions from our Interest Check form (which you can still fill out 💜❤️) below the cut!

I'm new to this kind of event. How do I participate?

Good news! If you're interested in participating and you filled out the form to tell us so, you're already doing it right. For now, take a look through our Rules/FAQs document, and watch this blog for updates! The next big date for us is April 13th, when we'll officially open sign-ups via a form similar to the Interest Check.

Is it a problem if English isn't my native language?

Not at all! We're a global event, and we're happy to have anyone who wants to ramble about Klapollo with us. Entries and most communication should be in English for safety purposes, though, since the mods are only guaranteed to be able to moderate English.

Do I have to be established in the fandom to take part?

Nope! We'd love to be the event that sparks your first finished piece or your first fandom friendships! ❤️💜 Folks of all skill levels and at all levels of familiarity with the greater AA canon are so, so welcome. There's no selection process or anything—you just sign up on the 13th to commit to the rules and timeline, and we'll send you an email when things are ready.

Do you include beta reading?

All participants are allowed (and encouraged) to take beta reading roles to do peer reading, but there's no enforced beta period and no guarantee that anyone's piece will be beta read—it's up to individuals to make those connections. The same goes for adding alt-text to art; while we'd love to encourage everyone to make their pieces accessible, it's not enforced for this event, but there will be people in the server who will help anyone develop alt-text if desired. We do recommend using an email address/document sharing method that does not include your real actual legal name! We only ever need your fandom name, and we want everyone to take care if you plan to share your docs with anyone for beta reading.

Is it possible to pair up with someone we already know or who we previously worked with?

Definitely! on the sign-up form, there will be a field that allows you to enter the name/username of a partner you want to work with. Your partner will also need to enter your name in their copy of the form! There will be a grace period between the server opening and matchups being made during which people can contact mods to say "Hey! We just met each other in the chat, and now we want to work together!"

How are you so awesome?

Oh one hand, yes. On the other… Mythra is the prosecutor.

Eh, I don’t need a biased judge to get me through this case.

Maybe I’ll find a detective whose in favor of the prosecutor to change things up?

You can’t tell me that Ryunosuke was mentally okay after having to spend nearly two months in the room where his best friend died after desperately having to prove that he wasn’t the one who did it. He felt like he had to pick up his dead friends dreams and belongings because it would be suck a waste for them to be abandoned. He took on a whole career that he explicitly stated terrified him because he couldn’t stand letting Kazuma or Susato down.

Anyway there’s some psychological horror to being trapped in the room where someone you loved died just feet away from where you were sleeping for weeks and weeks with the only thing to occupy your mind being relentlessly studying to replace him.

The only picture he had of Kazuma was the crime scene photo staged to look like he was implicating him for the crime and he wouldn’t be able to just throw it away.

You just cannot tell me this guy didn’t suffer some amount of psychological distress and constant nightmares on the way to Great Britain.
