-they learned magic tricks as a way to pass the time in the sanctum, as well as to make taka and luna laugh

-they were one of the only people who attended the funeral for all of the team meteor members killed by saphira on the lake. in fact, they were the one that organised it, and they still visit beryl cemetery to pay their respects

-they’re very religious, and attend the services in the sanctum. they view arceus as their saviour who brought them to team meteor

-they’re very emotional. they cry easily, especially when they’re alone

-despite their flippant attitude, they genuinely do believe solaris can change the world for the better. however, they will never forgive the way he treated taka

-they still don’t know how they feel about elias. they feel like he takes arceus’ commands maybe a little too seriously at times, and they don’t like the way he treats luna

-when luna started transition, they took her shopping for dresses in secret

hii ari !! abt the second timeline where adriana was the protagonist .. i remember ur carrd saying that she was in a relationship w luna in that timeline too — would u imagine it being different in any way , compared to the third timeline ? would there be a case where one of them may remember parts of their relationship from the second, or have a 'gut feeling' / 'intuition' that was rly memories from the timeline before ? i hope this all makes sense LOL

Oh!!! This absolutely does make sense; thank you so much for such an intriguing question!

Hmm.. I think that it would be at least a little bit different, by virtue of the fact that in the second timeline, Adriana fully took the role of the player as seen in-game, with no-one else surviving Grandview Station. So, as a result, while I do think that she and Luna would fall in love in the same way - Luna’s feelings appearing quite suddenly after Adri saves Gardevoir and later herself from the sanctum, which was midway through Adri’s own attraction rising slowly over time since meeting her - I also think that Adriana wouldn’t have been able to spend quite as much time with Luna as she had wanted, because she had more responsibilities as the spearhead of the movement to take down Team Meteor. As a result, it’s plausible to say that while we were definitely still close, it was not to as much of an extent (or at least had not developed to that extent yet).

Conversely, in the third/current timeline, Adri doesn’t have to be there for every single event, because there is now someone else travelling the region (in the form of the player), whom she is now mirroring by continuing to collect badges but doesn’t have to constantly be glued to. So, for example, she can spend more time with Luna after returning to Reborn City by not having to go through the Devon Corp raid. By the time the player has done that + defeated Adrienn + explored potentially the entirety of Tourmaline Desert (which is massive) + gone all the way through Titania’s gym, all that Adriana has to do in the same timeframe is just defeat Adrienn, fly from Beryl Ward to the top of Mirage Tower (to pick up Corybantia), then continue north to Never After - because she catches up with the player right before they battle Titania, at least if they’re on Reshiram Route. This (and other examples throughout the story, which I’ll admit I haven’t fully come up with yet) gives her much more downtime compared to the player.

What I haven’t considered as much as I could have is the last part of what you were saying, about feelings and memories of the previous timeline poking through. And I think that is a VERY fun concept to play with - the game sort of touches on it right at the end, but not really to much of an extent. In fact, something that I was considering was saying that Adriana’s experience - so, the second timeline - was closer to Episode 18 than it was to Episode 19, because the game itself was still only on Episode 18 when I myself first played it. This allows for some fun moments in terms of things like Adriana being surprised to hear the name Borealis so early, or being apprehensive to enter Agate until Cain and the player arrive, or suddenly feeling a lot less sure of things after defeating Hardy (because E18 only went up to his Gym battle even though Adri herself did actually get all the way to the end of maingame), or - to bring it back to an F/O-focused perspective - being even more shocked than everyone else that Elias tries to shave off Luna’s hair.

I think that Adriana would be the only one to really have these moments of.. I suppose you could call them anamnesis, but she isn’t necessarily remembering the previous timeline, just getting vague intuitions of things. This is because she’s the only one to have more explicitly been brought back in from the previous timeline - and brought back from her fate in that timeline - because of Anna’s feelings of guilt causing her to intervene more. If she hadn’t intervened beyond the point of a simple reset, it wouldn’t have been guaranteed that Adri still travelled out to Reborn (because she wasn’t the chosen hero for this timeline), defeating the main point of bringing her back - which was to make sure enough people would be present to power Anna’s wish if the new chosen hero, the player, had to be saved like that as she was. I do think there is potential for her to eventually become more anamnestic, certainly moreso than Fern, but that may not actually occur until.. maybe the Giratina quest. Which is late into postgame.

..I think it’s safe to say that I could ramble on about this for ages considering how much I’ve already written here in one go. So, thank you very much for such a question, friend - I am very grateful to have been asked it and it’s given me a LOT to think about!!

So, a while ago, on Ame's Reborn Stream, we noticed that, since Ciel originally had a Southern/country dialect before deliberately practicing a more flowerly speech, then logically, Ace, who grew up in the same place, would also have spoken yeehaw. Hence, cowboy hat.

So that I don’t forget this - things I need to figure out for Adriana:

Which parts of the story is she present or absent for? Her journey mirrors that of the player (because she’s already done it once before), but sometimes there’s no way for her to be in a certain spot or it makes more sense to be doing somewhere else at a given point in time. I have very few of these “deviations” established for maingame (e.g. she doesn’t do the Devon Corp raid, she’s with Luna for the Glass Workstation), and even the postgame ones I can think of are just set in terms of either people who are in the quest (Cresselia, Darkrai, Dialga and Palkia, maybe Necrozma) or legendaries I know she acquires and uses on her team (Marshadow and Giratina), so.. there’s a lot I can do here.

How does she interact with Ace? I bring this up for the sole reason that Ace was a completely new addition to Episode 19, and now that I’m leaning more into the anamnesis aspects with Adri’s status as the previous timeline’s player/protagonist (and her own experience having been Episode 18-except-she-also-got-to-the-Champion instead of 19), there is potential for something fun here. Saying that, though, the game itself doesn’t actually make a big deal of their newness as far as I know (compared to, say.. is it Aizen? in Rejuvenation), so I’m not 100% sure..

What would her interview with Gossip Gardevoir and profile from DJ Arclight be about? ..It would make sense for her interview to be playing directly after the player returns and the postgame begins, because it would be for her as the Shadow Champion, but Gardevoir isn’t there at that point in time. So maybe I can put an Arclight profile there, and then say the interview would be at another time - maybe even after the Giratina quest, but would she really talk about what happened there in such a setting??

I feel like there was something else. Probably to do with Luna. Hmm.

WAIT NO IT WAS TIMELINE NONSENSE the more I proceed with the concept of Adri being second the more I feel like that doesn’t work because of what Ame said. “Giratina broke things, so Zina fixed it. Then Lin broke things, so Anna fixed it.” - but we know Fern gets to the grand finale, so??? Something definitely needs to break but I don’t know what

worth nothing that this isn’t canon- it’s just kinda what I thought abt while designing them! I imagined that ace’s hairstreak is kinda an almost pushback against ciel after she kicks them out and they get pulled into meteor. kinda an “well,,, well I don’t need you anymore if you don’t need me anymore” kinda thing. sorta a way that they could distinguish themself and they could do fine on their own without her (which… totally goes great. not like this one event in your life leads to like. death spiral of everything else going wrong and you getting pulled into a place that actively manipulates you where you only have like. one or two real friends. good plan)

Okay, first of all: please know you never have to apologise for sharing thoughts, especially not if you’re sending them in my direction. That goes for everyone, because I always always love hearing about people’s characters and all the thought and detail that has been put into them!!!! It really warms my heart getting to see everyone’s passion and love for their characters shine through in the way all these little details are specified and thought about, and this is absolutely no exception, because Ace is one of the characters I really like!! ^-^

Secondly, thank you for the clarification on this!! That definitely makes a lot of sense as something Ace would do, even if you’re right that they definitely don’t end up in a great situation despite the impression they may be trying to give off ;w; I also really like that whole idea of “something done on impulse without that much thought actually ends up sticking and becoming/representing something meaningful”! Also, with what you said about their personality, that also definitely makes a lot of sense for a roleswap - it’s interesting to think about how different their personality is/would be in a roleswap compared to how they try and present themself in the game as a Team Meteor member, but how that came about does also make a lot of sense.

I should really make another Lunadri render soon

I’m not at the point in my current playthrough where I can actually meet Luna yet (I’m still only at Shade’s gym), but I do want to persevere with this playthrough because it’s the first one I’ve done with my self-insert’s canon team. So far it’s been difficult, but giving myself free access to egg moves has definitely helped (thank you, Nasty Plot!), especially since TMs for good moves can often only be found quite a ways in.

I’d like to try and rework the MMD model of Luna that I put together, mainly in terms of finding better clothes since I think I stuck slightly too close to the simplicity of the sprite when she could have had something a lot more detailed. It could be neat to try and rebase her though, mainly since - while I don’t know how tall she is - I think she can be taller than me to a greater extent than she is at the moment if she wants to be. Also, I’d like to put together models for other Reborn characters too, like Taka and Ace for example, but I’d have to see how close I can get with parts that are freely available for use

One of the more interesting minor notes in the more recent Pokémon games is that different characters, such as the Team Star bosses, use different types of Pokéballs. It’s a neat characterization detail. So I thought I would apply to Reborn’s characters.

Also here’s some visual references:

Gym Leaders

Julia-Fast. Only her Voltorb and Electrode actually get the bonus from it. She uses it because it fits best with her pom-poms.

Florinia-Timer. Statistically the most effective ball.

Shelly-Friend. It’s cute and fits with her forest field.

Shade-Cherish. Mysterious and red.

Aya-Poke. It’s the cheapest.

Serra-Premier. A show of aesthetic and (somewhat former) status.

Noel-Poké. He’s basic.

Radomus-Master. Spent half the coffers on it. Also, because grand”master”.

Luna-Moon. Fits her vibes immaculately.

Samson-Heavy. The circus strongman should lift heavy things. That’s like, his job.

Charlotte-Premier. Both cool and easily available.

Terra-GS balls (or at least, standard pokéballs painted to look like GS balls). The ultimate troll.

Ciel-Wing. White and blue, and associated with flying types. Maybe she learned to make them back out in the country.

Adrienn-Luxury. Only the best for xyr Pokémon!

Titania-Net. Completely symbolic, with no practical use. She’s extra like that.

Amaria-Dive. One can surmise that she spends a lot of time underwater. She likely catches her mons there as well.

Hardy-Repeat. Just thinks it looks cool.

Saphira-Dusk. Very effective and also kinda edgy. Her gym emulates a cave.

Sandy-Luxury. Stolen from Craudberry’s collection.

Elite 4

Heather-Jet. A soaring pokéball for a fast-flyer.

Benett-Nest. He definitely raises his bug Pokémon from the first stage.

Laura-Heal. No explanation needed.

El-Legends Arceus normal Pokéballs. Took up crafting sometime after his sight was restored.

Anna-Dream. Due to the dreamsickness and such.

Ame-Safari. Fits symbolically.

Rivals

Victoria-Heal. Imitating Kiki.

Cain-Love. Flirt.

Fern-Great. Once superior, now outclassed.

Cal-Great. Wanted to show up Blake by using a less effective ball.

Aster-Quick. The somewhat hasty one.

Eclipse-Timer. The level-headed one.

Ace-Glimmer. Uses a lot of seals.

Sirius-Ultra. No-nonsense kinda fellow.

Solaris-Gigaton. RVTERN to tradition man himself.

Taka-PLA regular pokéballs. Similar to Solaris but extremely half-assing it.

Lin-Cherish. Mysterious ass.

Zero-Ultra. Looks like Umbreon.

Eve-Quick. Statistically the most efficient ball. 

Lumi-Level. Had a very high level Glaceon and little other Pokémon, so she figured that level balls were best for their price. 

Sigmund-Ultra. For the intimidation factor.

Blake-Ultra. Try-hard.

ZELDA: Wisdom is the key.

CRAZY HAND: First appearance, “The Legend of Zelda” for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Her dress and hairstyle are a mix of her designs from “The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past” for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and “The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds” for the Nintendo 3DS.

MASTER HAND: The Mushroom Kingdom’s deadliest medical caretaker is next. When dealing with pesky viruses that cause Fevers or Chills, he loses his hat, dons a coat, a doctor's light, and a stethoscope. He is “The Prescriber”, number 18, Dr. Mario!

MASTER HAND: Our next fighter is the epitome of old school, but not a distinct previously-existing character, but rather a conglomeration of various different characters that appeared in the myriad "Game & Watch" games. He is “The Master of Two Dimensions”, number 26, Mr. Game & Watch!

Pokémon Reborn Screenshot Let's Play: Chapter 17

Well…hello again, everyone. The end of college is slowly creeping towards my location, but Pokémon continues to be my rock in these trying times! Although, given the revelations of the last chapter, that may be turning into a double-edged sword with all these twists and betrayals…and we’re not even past the third Gym yet! I’m terrified for what’s coming next in this play session alone, to say nothing of the rest of the game!

There’s gonna be a lot to do in this part, no doubt- but first, we need to go over what happened in the previous chapter to lead us to where we are now.

Xera continues her expedition through Rhodochrine Jungle, finding the way to the PULSE blocked by yet more vines.

After clearing one half of the vines blocking the way forward, Xera overhears a conversation between several Team Meteor members: a Grunt, as well as two higher-ranking members, a Private currently dubbed Agent Grass and an admin currently called Commander Ponytail. Commander Ponytail discusses how a “demonstration” in North Obsidia Ward is just about ready, and he takes his leave- but not before planning to take Victoria with him.

While continuing to explore, Xera encounters and catches a Shiny Scatterbug, who she names Monarch.

Finding her way back to Beryl Ward and to Beryl Library, Xera encounters a stranger searching for books. The person politely greets her and asks if she’s heard of a phenomenon called “dreamsickness.” She has not, and the stranger takes their leave.

Xera briefly returns to the Reborn City Police Department, having found all four missing police officers as well as the Growlithe of the fifth, who was found deceased. As thanks for her help, the chief allows Xera to take the Growlithe with her; she accepts, gaining Blaze the Growlithe.

Back in Rhodochrine, Xera finds Amaria. She has followed Borealis’ trail to Rhodochrine, and has also been able to confirm several of Team Meteor’s leading officers are guarding the PULSE. It seems, due to losses of the PULSEs in Obsidia and Jasper Wards, Team Meteor is now on high-alert.

Xera finds another abandoned house, the man inside wanting to start growing food so he can continue to live in the jungle- and for that, he needs a Sunkern. Xera trades Summer the Sunkern to him in exchange for Deci the Carbink (and an Exp. Share).

With the path clear, Xera is able to approach the PULSE, which is guarded by Borealis, ZEL, Taka, and Ace (Agent Grass is there too, off to the side in her own world). The Meteor admins are quick to corner her as well as reveal Amaria’s hiding spot- but luckily, Fern, Cain, and Heather arrive to provide backup for the duo. As each Trainer engages a different Meteor officer, Xera is free to confront Ace.

Xera is successfully able to defeat Ace and shut down the third Tangrowth PULSE- but just as she claims victory, Heather is suddenly thrown back and knocked unconscious, having been beaten by Agent Grass. Borealis reacts in horror to this, ordering his Crobat to fly Heather someplace safe.

Agent Grass and Ace confront Borealis about his decision to let Heather- an enemy- escape, with Agent Grass in particular deeming Borealis a traitor. Before she can take further action, however, Amaria rushes in to hold her back, buying time for both Borealis and Xera to escape back to Beryl Ward.

Running down the only street into Beryl Ward, Borealis is ambushed by the RCPD- thanks to Xera finding the officers, they were able to put together a sting operation and trap for Borealis at Amaria’s behest. 

The police chief unmasks Borealis, revealing his true identity: Corey Molinar, former Gym Leader, and Heather’s father. Corey derides the chief for trusting him solely because he was once a Leader, then manages to escape in a cloud of mist. The chief orders the officers to search for Corey at his residence.

So yeah- Corey was one of the villains all along! I may have guessed it ages ago, but I’m still sad about being right! So very sad! And now we have to confront the consequences of our actions and Borealis/Corey’s- mostly the latter’s, though- and…I guess meet up with the officers at wherever Corey’s house is? Oh boy, this chapter is going to wreck me, I’m getting bad vibes from all of this-

Another update for Pokémon reborn!(Spoilers for up until the police meeting with Cain amaria and someone else right before blacksteam)

So…Corey,huh.

It’s so messed up that heather is the only one who hasn’t learned about Corey.

Also,wtf did shade do to just make Corey’s body disappear?tf???

Anyways,let’s go back a bit to talk about fern.

Fern is an asshole.

Like,I get it,he was evil,but you don’t make fun of a dead man,especially when someone you know just fucking witnessed it.

Also,the thing with Shelly?I want to punt this man.

Speaking of Shelly,her and Victoria are tied for my favorite character.she needs a hug.

Like,imagine you try to get your brother’s attencion only for him to ignore you(presumably),watching your friends dad die,and needing to deal with FUCKING FERN.i want to hug her.

Also,on the note of her gym battle,she kicked my ass.

It wasn’t “just luck” she beat me fair and square and I will take that L gracefully.

Even on the second attempt where I was more prepared it took a bunch of bullshitting with pikachu and Volt switch.

Also-we got Victoria back baby!

I don’t have much to say about any of the orphanage kids.

Cain gets called a Disney princess and is just like “y’know what?yes I am”

Shade beat me in the ass 4 times in a row I had to replace lucky with a scraggy to beat him-

I have two theories abt the ruby ring and sapphire bracelets:

Either 1.it has to do with the gate thing that we saw when we were busting Victoria out of meteor jail.

Or 2.kyogre and groudon have something to do with it.

Cain seems to have reacted at the wastelands being a PULSE location,I wonder if that’s his home.

She has apprenticed with the Agate Circus since she was 12 and is an aspiring performer who decides to start her journey as a trainer to bring even greater renown to the institution... only to get rung into Reborn's events, but at least she doesn't have to get bailed off the exploding train. She is optimistic yet also quite stubborn, and is supportive of her buddies.

Elise grew up for years with a love for the circus, and her parents formed lots of great memories with taking her there. However, her dad died when she was 10 years old, and in grief, her Mom spiraled into alcoholism. With growing hesitancy around her home and fears of getting hurt again, Elise spent more and more time at the circus alone.

Eventually this led her to befriending Alistasia's father, the original ringmaster of Agate's circus, who took a liking to her and taught her much about the performances and attractions of the place. The Circus practically became her home away from home; a home without fear or pain.

However, the shorter times she did spend back home were all the more strenuous, and eventually, she couldn't handle living with her mom anymore, running away.

The old ringmaster learned of her plight, and took her in, at age 12. After being given time to recover, she proceeded to help around the circus (a job she was more than happy to help with) to earn her keep, all while forging strong bonds with Samson, Ciel and Ace in the process. This went on for several years.

A year before the events of the main story, Ace leaves the Circus abruptly, without even a goodbye. As time goes by, in longing for her friend(and wanting to reach stardom while expanding her horizons as well), Elise leaves for Reborn City to enter the League, with her Shinx and two more Pokémon as parting gifts from her dear friends.

I have an absurd fondness for the Pokémon altaria. I think it’s genuinely my favourite. It was in my first run in Pokémon emerald and was my ace in Reborn… it’s so cute and like. Cotton guard, dragon dance, and roost makes setting up so easy

Give me a series & I’ll tell you..

❤ Favourite Male: Taka my beloved (platonically)!! He is a somewhat sad scarf man and I care about him greatly. As do many others, which makes me smile to see. I’m very very glad he comes back on Anna Route (and some Lin Routes, since I think the only requirements are Reshiram and victory at Pyrous?), even if it isn’t until Tier 5. In fact, I’m pretty sure the reason I downloaded Reborn myself in the first place was to get to experience Zekrom Route firsthand (because the playthrough I was watching ended up on Reshiram), and I wanted to do this so that Taka wouldn’t get killed off in my version of the game and so I could get what I thought at the time was a better or at least kinder ending (even if Anna Route - which needs Reshiram - has since become my favourite route now that episode 19 is out).

❤ Favourite Female: Funnily enough, Elena actually came to mind first for this, which is thanks to her combination of amazing personality and super pretty design AND awesome Trainer title and type specialities (haha no I’m not biased because my self-insert is also a Ghost-type specialist, what are you talking about). ..But all of that also applies to Luna, as well. And it would just feel wrong to not say Luna for this, especially given that Elena is present in the game for all of one postgame cutscene and that's it (which is REALLY a shame). So.. Luna. As my general track record of blogging on Tumblr in general probably indicates quite well. I just really really love her, okay?? ;w;

❤ Favourite Pairing: ..does Lunadri count because then if so Lunadri (i.e. my selfship with Luna). Going strictly by canon x canon, though.. maybe Julirini (Julia x Florinia)? Ayahardy is also a classic, as are the Agate Ace Triumvirate (though that's three, not a pairing) - the detail of Noel being commissioned for a wedding ring and Serra I think being commissioned for a wedding dress after the timeskip made me smile. However I can’t deny that the concept of- is it Solias? Solaris x Elias - is very amusing to me. Arcdrienn and Takace are both nice ideas as well, and I think Torialice and Noelumi would be cute too. ..Aaah, this game has so many neat potential pairings and that’s not even considering OC x canon ships and selfships, of which there are many (which I absolutely adore seeing and am not listing only out of not wanting to accidentally not mention one that I like)!!!

❤ Least Favourite Character: If it has to only be one, then.. Probably Sigmund. Other candidates would be Bennett and Elias (maybe for obvious reasons, but I’m afraid I still can’t shake the dislike despite their improvements in postgame), and Sirius, and then to a lesser extent Fern (though seeing how much other people like him has somewhat helped, things like the Beryl Bridge scene do not help him).

❤ who’s most like me: Hmm.. I'm not sure, actually! To tell you the truth, I struggle a bit with figuring out what I’m like in the first place, which makes answering questions like these very difficult.

❤ most attractive: ..I mean, again, I can't not mention Luna for this. She is very pretty and I love her (everyone interprets her outfits slightly differently but they always look really good). But then so is Elena. Perhaps this is something you may have been expecting.

❤ three more characters that I like: Ace is DEFINITELY one I have to mention here - they are just such a good addition to the cast and I love just about anything to do with them. I also care a lot about Anna and Noel - I think Noel is still very underrated, which i know is kind of the point, but still. Also Shelly, she is so good. And also Shade, I wish he was more present in the postgame honestly (although that might stem from the main quest featuring him, as in the one that shows some of his backstory, is the Jirachi quest, which is one of my least favourites because of all the needless Sigmund info). ..I could honestly mention half the cast here, to be fair, but I'll stop here because this is already such a long answer ;w;
