personal rant

my in-laws are literally doing the most. We were all so good until I had my baby. Then they started getting obsessive and weird over my kid. Long story short, they started talking shit about me and making up lies. They are at my house now while I am working to see our son. Apparently my husband’s mom had “a bad reaction” to finding out we aren’t going to have anymore kids. We are “only thinking about ourselves”.

Fuck yeah we are. If we have more than one kid, we would be doing a disservice to our kids. WE, the parents, made a decision that was best for our family and she has the audacity to make that comment. 

I am LIVID. They also are obsessed with wanting alone time with our son. Why????? And they keep offering to do nice things but there are ALWAYS conditions/strings attached. 

They have had a chance to see our son once a week lately but that isn’t enough for them. They want more. If it was up to me, they wouldn’t have time with him at all.

Im glad whatever demon possesses Certain People to react with such vitriol when a theory or headcanon contradicts their own hasn't really spread to here, cause its. So weird to be so averse to interpreting the source material that you shut down any attempt to discuss it.

Even when Certain People don't have a theory/thought that goes against what another person thinks, they shut down discussion about it. They think something doesn't have meaning—they think something doesn't need to be interpreted at all—so they decide that no one else can interpret it either. There are few things more infuriating than being hit with some version of "I think your idea is wrong, but I don't have an alternative one."

Like yeah, I might be wrong! Do you see the source material I'm working with?? Theres a whole LOT of information but zero context to place it in. Half the info is being intentionally obscured and jumbled for the sake of ~mystery~. At a certain point, all i can do is guess lol. I'm sure I've got analyses and theories that directly contradict each other. And that's okay! I don't really care about being wrong.

I care about being spoken down to for daring to have an idea that doesn't match another person's. I care about being treated like I'm stupid for daring to think something may have deeper meaning.

It is more likely than not that something has a deeper meaning to it, whether the author intended to give it that meaning or not. Like how the Matrix is an allegory for being trans. (The creators admit to that not being the intention going into it) Or how Beastars can be an allegory for both race and sex. (But the authors intent is the latter)

Unpopular Opinion maybe, but the point of theorizing isn't to be right. Being right is just a ~fun bonus~

And this is a game where far less has been 'confirmed' than people realize. Something being a popular thought among the fandom doesn't make it confirmed. Speculating differently about a popular thought isn't "silly" or "pointless" or "spreading misinformation". Oh the hypocrisy of that last one.

It's one thing to be skeptical and want more details about a theory, especially if it contradicts one you specifically have, and I'm always happy to share and clarify! But its another thing to treat a theory like it shouldn't exist or be spoken about just because you don't believe it.

Not to mention, the pressure to undercut or downplay your ideas if you decide to share them. Why do people have to add disclaimers about how they 'might be wrong' or constantly use passive language to share a theory/headcanon? I should be able to say "I think" at the start of a sentence and that be enough.
