LOOKING FOR FEEDBACK FROM WHEELCHAIR USERS

TL;DR - Any kind of feedback you can provide regarding what YOU want and don't want from a wheelchair lift experience would be super helpful!! -- AND/OR, I'd also appreciate any input you might have about what a community space would have to be like in order to be inviting and welcoming to you!

Any input - small or extensive, general or specific - would be SO appreciated!! I'm hoping to deliver this feedback in the next couple days.

Hi, y'all! So I've been doing some work for this really awesome co-op project that has managed to purchase a small apartment building in our city, with the goal of providing our community with affordable housing, emergency preparedness, and an accessible community space!

Currently, the building is NOT wheelchair accessible, but they are seeking to rectify that issue, starting with the community gathering space in the basement. Funding is tight, so they really only have one chance at getting this right.

In the long-term when they have way more money, they aim to have full building accessibility, including an elevator.

But in the short-term, the proposed plan is to replace a set of stairs going down to the basement from the outside with an enclosed wheelchair lift.

If you check out highlighted yellow parts of the diagram below, it illustrates what the plan is. (Ignore all the other labels in the "BEFORE" part; it was just the best diagram I could find that included the stairs on short notice.)

There has also been some talk about widening all the hallways in the basement, which I plan to voice my strong support for.

Thus far, I am aware that some wheelchair lifts can only be operated from the outside, and that this is stupid. But I imagine there are a LOT of other pitfalls/needs that I'm not catching as a person who does not use a wheelchair! (I am trying to get a motorized chair, actually, but until then, I use a rollator or a cane. I've never used a wheelchair lift.)

Any feedback you could give me would be really appreciated! What should we avoid? What do you wish existed? What does it look like for you to feel comfortable in a space? How can we make this community space accessible for YOU??

Hey if people are thinking of 'stockpiling HRT' and you are doing it with Testosterone, be aware that is a controlled substance and doing this WILL GET YOU A FELONY CHARGE IF YOU ARE CAUGHT (and it would be very easy for this to happen through the way those posts reccomend).

Its your decision if you want to risk imprisonment (and then definitely losing hrt access), but be aware of the serious consequences- especially if you are recommending this to people!

If you do this with E, you get a slap on the wrist. If you do this with T its a felony. A felony charge deeply effects everything you do. Its not just hard to DYI T, its MANY TIMES LEGALLY RISKIER AND HARDER.

Crystal Clutters Pack

Heeeey people! Crystal Creations came out (bugged as hell) and I loved these bookcases sooo much but it desperately needed changes, atleast for me. The *dust* two colored wood tones needed to go and it surelly needed the ladder for both sides! And so I did that!

I went even further making more swatches and making two swatches for each wood color, one with a version already with books in and one without anything! And also I made some clutters to put on your new bookcases!

The Blob

Dpxdc Prompt #20

Danny is a blob ghost now and he's fine with that.

Turns out all blob ghosts are just regular ghosts who have expended to much energy and turn into balls of pure ectoplasm and emotion to recharge.

It's honestly a much needed and much appreciated vacation from all of his responsibilities.

He doesn't understand why he's getting so many worship-fear-cowed emotions from these people, but he's a blob right now, he doesn't have to care.

There's one boy that constantly projects awed-love-infatuated towards him. Danny likes him a lot more than all of the other guys.

In the mean time, Ra's Al Ghul has just found what he believes to be the conscious personification of the Lazarus Pits and there is no way he is going to let any of his assassins offend it. If only he didn't have to worry about his grandson being so enamored with the being as well.

Grandfather never let Damian have any pets.

"Distractions," he would say, "Unnecessary attachments."

Damian disagreed, but he was smart enough not to voice his belief. The Demon Head's word is law and he bows to nobody.

Or at least... nobody until the little blob of sentient Lazarus Water.

Grandfather says that it must be the pits personified and therefore needed to be treated with respect so there would be no chance of them being taken away.

Damian has no problem following this rule, he finds the little blob cute, like the pet Damian would never get to have. When nobody's watching he pets the blob, tells it stories about his day, and stays silent as it does happy little purrs.

In the hell that is Nanba Parbat, the blob is a bright spot in Damian's days.

So obviously when he leaves to meet his Father and claim his right as heir to the Cowl he slips the blob into his go-bag. No one will notice, the blob normally floats around as it wishes, sometimes going missing for hours.

By the time Grandfather realizes the blob has been away too long for it to have been without intervention it will have been too late. No one will suspect that Damian took the blob with him.

At least, that's what Damian tells himself to justify taking the little guy with him. He is comforted by the low hum in his bag, the blob is happy, if no one else.
