Arrogance : refers to a haughty, contemptuous, hurtful attitude.
Did Timothée hurt anyone in his speech ? Did he speak condescendingly ? Did he despise anyone ?
No, no one, except perhaps a few vinegar pissers who felt targeted even though the speech did not concern them.
Timothée spoke about himself, he put himself in danger challenging in front of the entire profession, by aiming high.
Yes, he showed his colors… and for once, the one who spoke is also the one who has the means to match his ambitions.
You call that arrogance? I call it conviction.

this explains my point perfectly. I know I will get the silent treatment and will be booed and he will be defended no matter what because he won an award so we are happy (btw we are, I am happy for him ) so he cannot never do wrong and who cares his speech… Who cares when KJ was not there and his mum was and we won , right? So it doesn’t matter that he came across as extremely unlikable person and probably pissed off a lot of directors and casting agents with his speed and probably fellow actors. No let’s run full steam ahead because he was honest and apparently ambition (without any measure) is now attractive, right? This is probably why people vote for Trump or suppose him because he is doing something right? Action and cockiness and arrogance is ok now. Those are the new society values. Look, I don’t want any humility from him, I think he should be proud, I also don’t want fakeness and he should be honest BUT there was some much else he could have said that would have shown his commitment, honesty, authenticity, hard work and strive for doing better. The whole point is not to win an award, the whole point is not to call yourself great . I know he didn’t say he was but he implied and anyone who argues otherwise doesn’t know how English language works; English is one of the most nuanced languages you can find (no I am not an native English speaker) and it’s the only language where you can do word play and what is not said and is between the lines is what matters. This is why most people don’t understand the Brits - it’s not about what it says on the tin, it’s about what is implied and not said. How you say things matter. So to bring this to my point I do think people take his speech very literally and that’s a mistake - that’s not what Tim’s way and being around for years should have taught fans. You cannot selectively say he speaks in innuendos all times but this time. Doesn’t work his way. People are free to like his speech, people are also free to not like it. But to say he didn’t come across as arrogant is a fallacy. It’s ok if you think arrogance is fine and there is nothing wrong with it but trying to twist the words is not ok (no I don’t mean you personally but people).
no I don't want to give you the silent treatment, since you wrote a long message I have no problem publishing you. Of course he wasn't humble, of course we are far from the goofy boy who fell off his chair in cmbyn promo and who I miss terribly but I saw this speech as his intention to express his love for his work not as arrogance towards his colleagues or anything else. I think we are all sincere enough here and we don't flatter him or Armie if we are not convinced or because for an award we didn't have to put up with the plastic fiction of his girlfriend (something we will probably have to put up with at the Oscars). I personally found some points in this promotion for a film that certainly didn't drive me crazy a bit too much. But in Tim's speech I saw sincerity, as well as in his singing on the terraces. I finally found what I liked about Timmy and that unfortunately in these long months I had lost at times and that I hope he continues to bring out.

"We are so privileged to get to do this, to be on Broadway, to have a life in the theater, to distract, to tell the stories that represent the many and not the few, by the many and not the few, for the many and not the few. Because what we do changes people's lives. It changes people's minds. It changes people's hearts. We can change the world with this, let's not forget that. This means more to me than I can ever say. Thank you very much." -Aaron Tveit, Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical (2021)

Hi, I’m Louis Tomlinson and I’m really sorry I can’t be with you tonight at the Nordoff and Robbins Northern Music Awards.
I’m currently on tour, but I just want to say, it means the world to me to win Artist of the Year. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And thanks for doing such an incredible thing with the charity.

^^^ I created that during Kamala's acceptance speech.
Republicans want to hold the whip and dictate how Americans should live their lives. Republicans hate freedom and love dictators. Their nominee, Weird Donald, is perfect for creating misery and despair.
ICYMI, here is her Thursday night speech.
youtube
In the speech she reminded listeners of the role the Biden-Harris administration played in providing intelligence to Ukraine ahead of Putin's invasion.
Five days before Russia attacked Ukraine, I met with President Zelensky to warn him about Russia’s plan to invade. I helped mobilize a global response – over 50 countries – to defend against Putin’s aggression. And as President, I will stand strong with Ukraine and our NATO allies.
That is a contrast to Trump who would wreck NATO and undermine US national security.
Trump, on the other hand, threatened to abandon NATO. He encouraged Putin to invade our allies. Said Russia could – quote – “do whatever the hell they want.”
As the VP mentioned, she met with President Zelenskyy as Russia was preparing to attack. Here's a contemporary news story about that event.
Harris on Ukraine: World at ‘a decisive moment in history’
We have it easier than Ukrainians when it comes to defending freedom. All we need to do is to get out the vote and to vote ourselves.
A HŪGE defeat for Weird Donald and his MAGA accomplices would put an end to this dangerous autocracy-curious phase in US history,

Something tells me that if a man had delivered a speech like Kamala Harris did last night the headlines today would be overflowing with praise and trumpeting the fact that the candidate was strong and effective and accomplished exactly what needed to be accomplished. Because the candidate is a woman, though, the headlines are mainly descriptive, or even include negative angles. Women must be tired of this kind of treatment. She became President Kamala Harris before our eyes on that stage last night.
