hi so uh
i have a playthrough of pokemon shield in which im only using poison types (as soon as i got access to them) and so uh here's my team of dumbass creatures
Tumblr media
explained below the cut (left-right, top-bottom), we have:
Bria, a sassy roserade who's kinda just there cuz i like roserade, and is thus a swing slot. functionally, she's kinda just a diet nikki with grass stab who happens to also serve cunt
Chia, a quirky garbodor who's my lead in major battles. she sets up spikes+tox spikes and explodes. the sweetest fuckin thing
Niro, a timid low-key toxtricity who mainly functions as electric stab. he's the resident chill guy who lowkey (heh) doesn't give a fuck
Nikki, a timid haunter who's my special-attacking nuke. she's kinda just Bria +speed, ice coverage, and stab on shadow ball but -grass coverage. but who needs grass coverage. she is a nefarious schemer
Ura, a quiet skuntank who's my physical attacker and main source of coverage. dark stab, flamethrower, dig, and a psychic immunity are quite nice to have. she's a powerhouse in battle and incredibly sleepy out of battle
and Quoisse, a bashful toxapex who stalls and has water stab. also my primary second-choice in double battles cuz blockhaus (i forgot its english name) is cool and it's cooler than protect. ironically, she highkey hates everyone except me
i also have Vic, a bashful toxicroak who shares the swing slot with Bria, but i didn't have space on the canvas to draw him and was too exhausted to do him separately. so i'll draw him later. he's basically just fighting stab and earthquake user since dig isn't really the best ground type option bc it's vulnerable to said eq (which Ura is already weak to) and two turns is a long time. he likes breaking things, such as the bones of steel types (do steel types have bones?)
so yeah those are my dogs :>

ngl I’m surprised we haven’t gotten a “the more north you go the more south you get” bit with Florida yet. He’s done different parts of other states as individual personifications and I think it’d be so funny for Gov to walk into a meeting and Florida not be the usual Florida. Throw him for a loop.

Okay I think I’m actually gonna try to commit to doing a podfic (audiobook) of Two is Company, so I want opinions on how I should go about narrating it lol
I can do different accents, but switching between American and British on the fly is somewhat difficult, especially if the British accent is just used for dialogue. I don’t want anyone cringing at bad code-switching, so here are some options

to everyone who answers my random question on accent, thank you! Majority on Tumblr said Spanish, but most of the people I asked outside of Tumblr said Italian. So fuck it, I’ll leave this comment section opened to two days and you can comment whatever accent you want Turzamoth to have (this is for you @blauwu ), I’ll provide some background for you now:
Turzamoth is the Demon Lord of Lust and is the longest running Demon Lord in power. He burned down a village due to someone not repaying their deal. He’s the only Demon Lord that has minions, if you want more detail read the old version of ‘the Demon trade’ on my wattpad.

dimitri learned most of his duscur from dedue. dedue is from a working-class family from the duscur border. dedue's border-town working-class duscur accent is inflecting dimitri's Literal Royalty Accent faerghan, where most bilingual faerghans would be starting from a working/merchant-class west faerghan accent. never mind that learning a language from one (1) native speaker who is himself not fully fluent in your first language is going to result in a weird-ass idiolect by nature.
what i mean to say is that when diplomacy reopens, the king of faerghus can negotiate (& makes a point of negotiating) in duscur, but he sounds 1) like a hick and 2) fucking weird

it’s a shame the the star wars prequels are objectively… not great (and good god the phantom menace is much more racist than I had remembered), because they do raise some interesting points about the inherent fragility of democracy, how the engine of fascism uses fear to turn even pacifists and diplomats into radical militants, and the inevitability of war if a government invests too heavily in their military. but instead of thinking about that I just have the stupid one liners and “I hate sand” running around in my head on a loop.

anyways my friends activated my conlang brain and I've made smth insane as usual
Tumblr media
red is influences, blue is Elezen-family languages, green is like a mix bc I see the Alliance cities as having a trade language (that critically is limited to them).
I see Duskwight as a separate language from Black Shroud Elezen (but sharing a lot - easy enough to learn for those speakers). Coerthan and all its derivatives are a whole different language under the Elezen umbrella and isn't mutually intelligible with BSE. Because they split so early, they probably don't share much more than root words and etymologies; within the same family so not difficult to learn for other speakers of Elezen languages, but very distinctly different.
(also I'm not listing them but the branches extend to include other diaspora Elezen languages)
#saint.txt#long post#ishgardposting#I'm sorry this is so hard to see lmfao I told you people you would regret activating the unhinged part of my brain#anyways additional notes:#Duskwight is to Old Elezen what Icelandic is to Old Norse; It's the closest language to Old Elezen.#Old Ishgardian was probably heavily influenced by Dravanian but the church post-Ratatoskr probably tried to purge a lot of it.#Ysayle and the heretic faction probably use Dravanian-derived words on purpose and may have restored a lot of the old words as slang#and as shibboleths.#Liturgical Ishgardian as you'd expect is spoken in churches and by clergy. It's their version of liturgical Latin.#Proto-Ishgardian *probably* wasn't using Old Hyur as a prestige language so its influence was probably limited#(it probably wasn't like English with French)#Alliance Trade Standard is a prestige language in Ishgard for nobility but proficiency varies. Most Ishgardians prob. don't speak it well.#imo Ishgardian and Duskwight both use different alphabets derived from the Old Elezen ones#w/ BSE either adopting the ATS one or having two scripts (the new ATS and the old Elezen one). Probably dialect-dependent.#Duskwight derived theirs from Golmorran and Ishgard from Old/Liturgical Ishgardian bc that's what the Enchiridion is written in.#the friend I'm building this with posits that BSE uses a lot of obtuse speech (verlan basically) for cultural reasons re: elementals.#Ishgardian forms dialects like crazy bc of the geography but there's a lot more interplay and movement of speech around than#you'd think bc of the movement of soldiers from different High Houses and places around the Holy See constantly#High Houses each have their own specific slang and jargon and you can get surprisingly specific placing where in Coerthas someone is from#and what High House he works for based on his accent and what military slang he uses.#the Coerthas-Shroud pidgin/creole refers to the zone between North Shroud and Coerthas where the two languages intersect for trade reasons#and mix together.#BSE mixes with a LOT (padjali / duskwight / coerthan in the north / thanalan languages in the south /#moon mi'qote languages / hyur in general) depending on region and thus has a *really* broad array of variation.#City Ishgardian as a dialect is facing huge change atm bc of the massive influx of Coerthan refugees.#bc of the Calamity and the Horde a lot of local Coerthan dialects went extinct very quickly.

what languages does asheera know?
signed,
someone who's filling out their dnd character's languages
Common, Orcish, and Goblin!
Have fun, languages are my favorite and constantly underutilized element of TTRPGs.
