School and Work

You know... most of the material on studyblr is aimed towards people who don't have jobs. Those who don't have class during the day and then work until midnight. Those who don't have an 8 hour shift on Saturday and Sunday so they can't devote the entire day to getting ahead for the upcoming week. A lot of people have to work in order to get themselves through school, and that's the situation I'm in as well. My goal by the end or even middle of this semester is to be able to make my own post regarding balancing a heavy load from both school and a job, while maintaining a social life and being involved in clubs/ organizations. In the meantime, can anyone who relates please reply/ reblog with advice? Even if you don't relate, just reblogging can help spread the post and reach it to more people (: And if you know of posts about this specific topic can you please link them!! Thank you so much.. Let's keep this a fluid and growing thread!

My first advice that I learned this past semester:

Don't take more shifts if you can't handle it! Request to have less shifts for a week and don't cover for someone if they ask. It's okay to say no when someone asks you to cover their shift! Yes you may need the money but if you can afford it, prioritize your schooling and don't waste the time you received by denying a shift. Remember that you could be working and making money, but you're not, so make good use of that time and get some homework done.

(12/11/2017) Day 9/100 days of productivity.

I went for a run for the first time in a long time today! Even though it’s cold and there’s snow on the ground and it was getting dark so it was a really short run, I feel amazing. I’m really happy I was able to get my butt out and actually just run and I also just feel much better because I’ve moved a bit. 

On another note, reading week (really just 3 days) starts tomorrow and I’m going to make sure that I plan the day well so I don’t burn my brain out studying and am really productive and healthy! Tell me about your tips and tricks for finals week and reading days!

A stop-motion video of my Accounting notes. How pretty they are, but how much toil do pastel colors hide!

I decided to try writing down “aesthetic notes” for this exam because of how demotivated I felt when opening up the book, facing concepts that I felt were so far away from my actual field of study. 

I entertained myself with pastel colors, and did exercises swapping names and activities for each company. I found myself giggling while analyzing the balance sheet of Jack Kerouac’s coast-to-coast driving agency, and I explored whatever weird scenario that could keep me awake: what would happen to a pet-cuddling company’s balance sheet if its koalas leaped out their way to freedom?

We’re all passionate, but sometimes we must find odd and goofy ways to spark our interest again.

I'm always feeling like I’m not living up to my true potential. And if that wasn’t bad enough, I also feel like my past self was way more productive than me right now. Does anyone get that?

internship requirements??

hey guys, I have a question. So a certain company has summer internships listed (under the big category ‘students’). And in some of the descriptions it reads that you have to be a college student in a certain year or field. But in some, there is no mention of that. Do you (as older, more experienced people) think I could try to apply as a student that has just graduated high school? And do you think I could also do that as a 17 year old? I don’t know what the requirements are “on the market” at all tbh. (It’s basically a paid 10 week internship and for those in question the requirements aren’t too hard either which adds to the confusion.)

Hello everyone!

 My name is Cassidy and I’m new to the studyblr community. I’m creating this blog to keep a record of my hard work and stay motivated! My goal is to get accepted to Agnes Scott and double major in chemistry and international relations, and the next 7 months are crucial to that. 

 I actually had to leave high school due to health and family issues, which means I’m currently obtaining my GED. Because I’m trying to omit my transcript I’m building my application in other areas. My primary focus is standardized testing. I've already taken the AP exams and now I’m prepping for two rounds of sat subject tests, the SAT, the ACT, and the remaining sections of the GED. So those are what most of this blog is going to be centered around!

 I’m also just trying to build good study habits and stop being so hard on myself. This community seems like the perfect place to work on that! I’m very excited to learn from all of you amazing students <3

Bought them from my local muji store!! Not sure where you live, but I think the chain is pretty international, so you should be able to find some near you.

8.30.2017 // I couldn’t get any work done at home, so I and my sister walked over to this coffee shop (took 30 mins uphill!!) and we managed to knock off a few to do list items. The herbal tea was delicious. 

Also, so sorry for not posting for 3-4 days, I’m switching internet providers and there are some issues we need to work out.
