help me out, i’m having an academic crisis. should i:
1. stay in the US as a pre nursing student.
i have to take an pre nursing exam to get into a nursing school
i have to apply to multiple schools (highly competitive, i don’t qualify for my current school for next semester)
the pre requisites take 2 years minimum (i’m on year 2 now), excluding the actual nursing school.
it’s likely that i won’t graduate within 4 or even 5 years. even with a “2-year” degree from a community college
the pre requisites take forever and each school is asking for different ones
then, i’ll take the nclex exam, if i pass i will become a registered nurse in the US.
i can only afford public college so i go to a commuter school, and live with my family, never lived alone
or
2. go back to the philippines for nursing school.
but i literally have to start over
all my peers are on their 3rd year of college while i basically “wasted” years of my life. (bc i took a gap year plus had to take pre requisite classes before i even officially “start” college)
it’s guaranteed i will graduate within 4 years.
lots of hands on learning where students meet and handle patients as early as 2nd year?
i’ll take the board exam, if i pass i will become a registered nurse in the philippines.
and take the nclex exam, if i pass i will become a registered nurse in the US.
i will live alone there (my parents and siblings in the US)
i’ve wanted a “regular college experience” my entire life (living in alone in a dorm/apartment, having a uniform, etc) but now that i actually have the chance again, i don’t even know if i still want it anymore.
and i’ve cried every single day for a year when we first moved to the US, praying that i could go back and continue the life that i had and wanted. i lost control over my life, so i grew to resent my mom bc she didn’t allow me to finish high school in the philippines with my friends, didn’t allow me to stay for college despite knowing that i’ve been dreaming of it since i was a kid. but now i’m numb and i don’t have any strong opinions about this anymore. that’s why i’m asking strangers for opinions about this (fresh eyes ig lol).

college rant: got damn i didn’t know getting into a nursing program in usa is so difficult. i really should have gone to the philippines, i would’ve been on my 3rd year of nursing if i did. i literally go to a community college rn with a 3.62 gpa and the prenursing advisor just told me i won’t get in since they’re asking for 3.65 gpa???!!! a community college is literally asking for perfect students?? actual real nurses aren’t even perfect wth
