while looking through games i've played (for the Game Challenge on bluesky) i have (re)discovered my now 12 year old video of my favorite thing to do in Assassin's Creed 1.
wanted to add a couple of other vids of me doing the same thing back in 2022, but tmblr doesn't allow more than 1 file in a post :(
so i compiled all the vids into one
(the old one had no audio so the first ~30sec is silent ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

Had such a stupid idea/mental image.
Desmond reborn as worm. But wait, where does the worm show up? Eating his way out of the Apple of fuckin Eden like any worm would!
I just don’t even know what would happen next but I’m positive it’d be hilarious
Well… we can set this up to be the beginning of this Desmond as a Huge Ass Worm idea from before?
That way, the twist would be that the worm could actually turn into a huge worm.
Honestly, this ask just makes me remember the whole “would you still love me even if I was a worm?” XD
For this one, I think it would be funny if Desmond is found eating the Apple by Al Mualim and Malik while the Templars were storming Masyaf. They, of course, didn’t expect Desmond to have eaten it. They thought he had simply wiggled his way into the case because there was a small opening that a worm his ‘size’ could fit into.
That was fine with Desmond, he wiggles his way to where he saw the gold in this strange worm vision he now has.
(It took hours though because… well… worms aren’t known to be fast in the first place anyway)
When he gets there, his guess was right and the gold was Altaïr, sleeping in what counts as the ‘hospital’ in the fortress.
Without the Apple to create illusions for Altaïr, Desmond supposed he had been punished… the ‘usual way’.
He stays near Altaïr’s head and curls around himself.
And has no idea what to do when Altaïr wakes up.
(His worries are for naught because Altaïr wakes up and sees him as gold. He has no idea why but he keeps him anyway… he learns later on why when he’s being pursued by crusaders while traveling)
With Ezio, I like the idea that they found him asleep after eating half of the Apple that was being transported to Venice. Mario thinks the Apple is broken (it is) and Leonardo finds the worm fascinating. Ezio touches him once and Desmond realize that, by eating the Apple, he got the Apple’s ability XD
With Ratonhnhaké:ton, George Washington opens the box where the Apple should be and finds the remains of an Apple (which he didn’t recognize because why would he?) and a worm. Thinking that the worm just got inside the box and whatever was originally in the box wasn’t there anymore or had been destroyed, he gave the box to one of his men to categorize it as another ‘confiscated item’. From there, the story revolves around Desmond’s adventure to finally get to the homestead XD

The gap between how Clay talks about Lucy in AC2 and how he talks about Lucy in Revelations is so wide.
And there's a handful of plot twists in between. And probably a different writer. And a personality shift on Clay's end. Really nothing between those two points was consistent.
But I'm the guy who spent AC2 and Brotherhood wondering how much Clay knew about Lucy, and how Lucy felt about Clay dying under her care, and then, when Brotherhood ended, wondered how much Clay even knew about what she was.
Only for Revelations to be the payoff. So.
(Which isn't to say I'm upset about Clay being mad at her. It makes sense for him to be mad at her. They just don't put 5 seconds into trying to tie that in with his earlier characterization. Like they don't spend 5 minutes trying to tie any of Revelations Clay to his earlier characterization. It takes them until the DLC to even establish what was going in with Lucy, let alone Clay.)

I'd honestly prefer no remake. They can't fuck up Ezio's character and story if they don't use it. XD Plus, the games are still good experiences if you don't expect modern graphics and gameplay. ^^
Yes i agree lol i said so in the answers also, i think they never actually remake the games that need it in a way that is needed.
Like Baldurs gate 1-2 deserve a remake purely bc they are so hard to play due to when they were made.(Try it and u will agree i lasted 10 min in that ui) İts not fun for ppl who didnt grow up in that generation so a remake would be amazing esp with BG3s popularity now.
But AC series dont rlly need a remake, they still look beutifull and they are still playable.
Clunky? Yes, esp some parts but playable and many of the mistakes can be fixed by fixing bugs and problems rather than a REMAKE. Water looks good textures look good and character models still hold up well. Slap some shaders on, and voila.
U dont need to HDfy and remake every texture pf the game bc then u get ac3 remaster, silent hill remaster.
Also whats w remasters and REMOVİNG content from the game??? Like U SHOULD ADD TO İT? w ac3 they took a whole mission at the end where u get to unlock cheats and get little lore and have fun w the mission. They just put the cheats at the menu.... And they didnt even do it right bc i thşnk i litterally had a mission icon for that trigger to show still...
So yea its better they dont remester bc they would make the original unavailable to get and remove leo dlc (they already did lol and clays too in rev) n stuff from game im sure. And as u said they cant butcher our boy if they never get their hands on it
Still simp part of me wants to see how hd young ezio would look

I feel like I'm going crazy right now, but didn't AC3 have a thing where there were secret Freemason tunnels under the colonies? They were introduced early in the main story so you knew they were there, smt like "Here's how you can escape from soldiers, follow the rats to get out, have fun." And then you had to find the different entrances and map out the system as you went through the game.
I SWEAR that was a thing, but I'm like 75% through the game right now (the original version, not the remaster) and they are NOWHERE. Was it part of a DLC or something? Someone tell me that was real.

ass cree on sale rn should i get any of them or is it not worth i
evil evil position to put me in here. okay. okay. here's what i'll say, here's what i can vouch for.
ac1 right now is about 5 bucks, which is absolutely worth it. it's old, but i think it looks fantastic in that sort of charming, late-2000s way. it has some of the best character writing in the series, the gameplay is a little different than the rest of the games in a way that's fun and also makes it so if you keep playing onto ac2, it won't feel as repetitive. ac1 absolutely worth the purchase.
ac2, brotherhood, and revelations are all the ezio games but for some reason aren't sold as the trilogy collection on steam??? weird as hell. i love ac2, and i think brotherhood is my favorite game in the entire series. i'd say these are less worth it than ac1 since they're gonna cost you more, but if you're gonna pick up more games, pick up those two. do not pick up revelations <3 love and light the story is not gonna be enough to carry that game <3 just watch the cutscenes on youtube like i am.
ac: syndicate is the other game i played and it is 👍 fun. it is fine. it is fun. the gameplay is good, the story is Fine, the characters are my little guys and i want to shake them like a dog with a stuffed toy. it's also not really going to be any deeper than that, and when you play it, you're gonna feel how much they are fighting not to go any deeper into, and it's frustrating. but as long as you can get something out of the surface level of it, it's still a good game. and like i said, gameplay wise? solid. my only real complaints there are the parkour mechanics, because that's at the point in the series where it's more Press A To Climb and less 'let's treat each building like a climbing puzzle'. the base game is about 8$ right now which is v fair, and the gold edition, which i believe includes dlc is 15$? i can't speak to the dlc, i've been told it's good, i'm not sure if it's 7$ extra worth of good.
do not fucking buy ac: origins. do not fucking buy ac: origins. do not fucking buy ac: origins. i know it's only 9$. don't even look at it. it's not fun it's not good i played it back in 2018 and i have literally zero good memories from it. unless you really, really want a game where you can run around egypt for a bit, just. avoid.
other things i can vouch for: i've been told ac3 is worth it for the story, even if the gameplay is a little more jank than the previous games. and according to my stepdad who i convinced to play liberation, that one's also very good, but probably more worth it if you're mostly playing it because you want to trot around new orleans in the 1700s lmao.
so that's the info i can provide on getting them. do be warned that if you play ac1 and then Get Invested and then you keep buying the games and playing more of them hoping that one day your investment will pay off and they'll reveal something good and everything will make sense and be emotionally satisfying <3 no <3 no it won't <3 never love an assassin's creed game they hate you forever and ubisoft would kill you for a cornchip

Picked up the Ezio Collection for Switch (only system I have, don't @ me) in the fall and become obsessed with the AC franchise. Only a decade+ late, I know, whatever. I'm not a video game early adopter.
One thing I've done is kept as clear of spoilers as possible. I know everyone here has probably played these games ten times over, but I'm not even reading timelines or wikis because I want to see how the story plays out. So far we've played AC II, Brotherhood, Revelations, Black Flag, Aveline, and Freedom Cry straight through. Better half has played a chunk of Odyssey. PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL ANYTHING ELSE.
Picked up Black Flag for the fam over Christmas and we were instantly obsessed. Then played the Aveline DLC.
AVELINE DE GRANDPRÉ MY ANGEL.
Tumblr media
I fell instantly in love, and now we own AC 3 which apparently has her longer game along with it. We're still on Sequence 2 with Haytham, the pompous ass, but eventually we will get to my queen among assassins.
Also found an stl file for a model of her. It looks like it's been pulled from game model files, and there are no reported makes, but I'm determined to try and see how it works out. I've already printed an Ezio and an Edward, and we need an Adéwalé and an Aveline to complete the playroom windowsill assassin collection of awesome. No luck so far on finding a printable Adéwalé, alas.
AC3 controls are kludgy as hell, but the game itself is very well-written so far. The plan is to play AC3, then Liberation, then circle back to Rogue, which I've heard has an absolutely laughable attempt at modelling Nova Scotia and PEI. We'll see how it goes!

For me, the Assassin's Creed series died after 2
Tumblr media
I remember the excitement I felt while playing AC2. We've got a set of four unique characters that formed a team to battle templars in the present and collect ancient sci-fi artifacts to save the world. It felt like we were diving into a TV show in the form of video games, something like Stargate SG-1 or any other team-based show.
Four distinct personalities that made the team dynamic so engaging. Blooming romantic subplot with Desmond and Lucy. It felt like Assassin's Creed finally found its core and direction for its entire journey, however long it was going to be.
Tumblr media
But everything was ruined with two stand-alone DLC types of games and then completely obliterated with AC3. Asspulling Lucy's betrayal, killing off her and Desmond, made Assassin's Creed lose any kind of identity. There was no core or sense of direction anymore. Assassin's Creed lost its heart and soul, with both of those characters being gone.
Tumblr media
I will forever miss the bliss AC2 gave me, and I will never forgive UbiSoft for AC:B and beyond. Such a humongous wasted potential.

I just finished the Tyranny of King Washington DLC for AC3!!!!
Thoughts under the cut :3
Interesting premise, I was intrigued by Connor seeming confused at the beginning, and the remnants throughout of him being aware of the regular timeline.
I really enjoyed seeing more Kaniehtí:io, would have liked even more :( she’s such an interesting character. Honestly I’d be excited to see friendly faces again only for them to quickly die😔 it was fun seeing some of the homestead people there! And having them help out! So cool!
Connor/Ratonhnhaké:ton’s new fit was very cool, I liked it a lot and also made more sense because in this version why would he ever get the assassin robes??? But also why tf was he out here bare chested in the mf winter????
I did enjoy the powers (the flying one was the most fun) howeveerrrrrr the backstory behind them was 😬😬😬 idk I feel like being like ooooooHoooOoh tea from the treeeee and the “spirit animal” thing was. Very stereotypical and racist
Btw why did they do that to his poor eyes. Horrifying, change it back !!!! Bro was standing there all the time like
🔵👄🔵
Also like what frustrated me so much, and it makes sense for the story but always having high notoriety was annoyingggg and I got very tired of it. Using the powers made it less assassiny but I guess this is an au storyline so, whatever, like they were a fun gimmick but also just very different than what I’m used to. (Also the guard dogs. wtf)
I feel like the plot had a nice progression and again like I said the story was interesting. Seeing Thomas Jefferson was wild ngl. I didn’t super enjoy all the running around the pyramid before finding Washington but oh well- I think there was also an interesting concept there of like “how far are you willing to go to stop evil/what will you let yourself become, will you too become a monster, or like when does it stop being about helping people and when does it become just taking the big bad down. I do think the powers chipping away at Ratonhnhaké:ton and also like his desire a bit for the apple at the end was interesting….but not fully developed. I feel like that character arc/plot thread was never really fully developed or finished. I feel that Washington had more a complete “arc” in this story.
Anyways I want more character study on Ratonhnhaké:ton because I love him and there are so many interesting things about his character and so much more you can do.
Also the ending reveal of what was happing was cool and I enjoyed that as the explanation! Why the apple does not do this for everyone…I do not know. Or maybe it does and they still give in? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyways! Fun dlc yay
EDIT: not fun dlc yay, apparently they got rid of a lot of the original cast and replaced them with white actors without letting the original cast know, wtf, and didn’t have cultural consultants !!!! Hmmmm dumb tea tree making a lot more sense now! Also makes me question the authenticity of Connor’s fit and his markings. wtf Ubisoft ???
Also you take down the pope that has the apple in the staff in AC2 with no powers, why does Connor suddenly need powers???
