Hospital Room 79 acrylic & polymer on canvas 150x300cm 2019 @henriettehellstern The last artwork in the Das Narrenhaus series is this hospital room. Two beds standing next to each other underneath pink window frames. The whole room seems like it is melting or in movement and the beds are almost on fire and alive. This is how I imagined it would feel like the first time you entered a mental hospital, back in the old days, feeling scared about this “house of fools”, as it was called. And the number 79, well that is the artists year of birth, like there is a room waiting for us all. A surgery that was meant to cure mental ill people. But it often made them numb and zombie like instead. Here Pedro is portrayed in fluorescent colors in a calm and still movement.
