Estados Unidos se prepara para el 125º aniversario del cantante, actor y activista de los Derechos Civiles, PAUL ROBESON.

Paul Leroy Robeson (9 de abril de 1898 - 23 de enero de 1976) fue un concertista de bajo barítono y actor de teatro y cine estadounidense que se hizo famoso tanto por su trabajo como cantante y actor como por su activismo político.

Paul Robeson, cuyo nombre completo es Paul Bustill Robeson, (nacido el 9 de abril de 1898 en Princeton, N.J., EE. UU. y fallecido en enero 23 de 1976, Filadelfia, Pa.), célebre cantante, actor y activista negro estadounidense.

Hijo de un antiguo esclavo convertido en predicador, Robeson asistió a la Universidad de Rutgers en New Brunswick, Nueva Jersey, donde fue jugador de fútbol americano. Tras graduarse en Rutgers como primero de su clase, rechazó una carrera como atleta profesional y en su lugar ingresó en la Universidad de Columbia. Se licenció en Derecho en 1923, pero, debido a la falta de oportunidades para los negros en la profesión jurídica, se decantó por el teatro, debutando en Londres en 1922. Se unió a los Provincetown Players, un grupo de teatro neoyorquino que incluía al dramaturgo Eugene O'Neill, y apareció en la obra de O'Neill All God's Chillun Got Wings en 1924. Su posterior aparición en el papel principal de El emperador Jones, de O'Neill, causó sensación en Nueva York (1924) y Londres (1925). Su caracterización del papel principal de Otelo en Londres (1930) recibió grandes elogios, al igual que la producción de Broadway (1943), que marcó un récord histórico para una obra de Shakespeare en Broadway.

Entre 1925 y 1961, Robeson grabó y publicó unas 276 canciones distintas, muchas de las cuales se grabaron varias veces. Los primeros fueron los espirituales "Steal Away" junto con "Were You There" en 1925. El repertorio grabado por Robeson abarcaba muchos estilos, como Americana, estándares populares, música clásica, canciones populares europeas, canciones políticas, poesía y fragmentos hablados de obras de teatro.

En la época de McCarthy, a Robeson se le retiró el pasaporte, sus discos desaparecieron de las tiendas y su nombre fue incluido en la lista negra, lo que equivalía a la prohibición de actuar en Estados Unidos. Se formaron comités internacionales que exigían la libertad de viajar para Robeson, especialmente en Gran Bretaña. En mayo de 1957, miembros de la Cámara de los Comunes británica organizaron un concierto "transnacional" por teléfono en el ayuntamiento londinense de St Pancras.  Solo se le permitió salir de los EE. UU. de nuevo en 1958 como resultado de una decisión del Tribunal Supremo de Estados Unidos de 1958.

Robeson se convirtió en el principal mentor del joven Harry Belafonte, que llegó a ser una de las estrellas negras del espectáculo más populares de principios de la década de 1950, pero también un destacado protagonista del movimiento por los derechos civiles de los afroamericanos. Totally Spies Reboot 2024: Samantha Kia Simpsons

Last but not least, my version of Samantha Kia Simpsons, she is kind of different from the original. I turned her a slim brown skinned Kenyan Jamaican American girl, with brownish black eyes, black and red lips, curly burgundy brown hair with bangs kept in pigtail buns with yellow hair ties and wearing simple chokers, a red cat eyed framed glasses with yellow lenses and everyday causal clothes. Her father is Samuel Adda Simpsons Jr. who run the Simpsons Stakes Zone, her grandparents are Abril Nina (nee' Brown) and Samuel Bobo Simpsons Sr., since they met each others after she found injuries and New York to California, while she was in hospital, they found the Simpsons Stakes Zone in July 6th, 1964. Her mother, Gabriella Zuri (Omar) Simpsons who is a protective housewife who carrying her toddler twins son and daughter, she had toddle twins siblings are Michael Ajani Simpsons and Miley Imani Simpsons who are five years old in kindergarten. She and her family and friends Clover and Alexis helped to protect the Stakes zone from their biggest business rivals the Luxembourg family included Mandy who is a big bullying her and she cheated to win the math and science contests, during classes to make her expelled from school by skipping school to go to college by making her father proud, to make her and her family running out of business and to win David's heart, Mandy dislike her mother punished her for her crimes against humanity and divorce her husband because of his treachery. She hang out with David while she close to him as he smiled at her. She had a pet dog named Mayday, she was chosen to work for W.O.O.H.P because she and her teammates won the softball games against Mandy and her friends, she was six years old. Boa 4a feira aos ouvintes da Radio Antena Livre!

Como se aproxima o dia da Liberdade, 25 de Abril, trago-vos hoje algumas considerações sobre a mesma.

Nos Estados Unidos, a American Library Association (ALA), associação de bibliotecas e livrarias, registou em 2022 um número recorde de pedidos de remoção de livros dos escaparates das livrarias e bibliotecas, públicas e escolares, de 2571 títulos únicos, um incremento de 38% face a 2021, quando foram reportados 1858 pedidos de remoção.

Segundo comunicado da ALA, estes números em crescendo devem-se a grupos organizados de pessoas que chegam a fazer pedidos de censura com 100 títulos de cada vez!

As razões são as mais variadas, mas as temáticas raciais e de género são as mais visadas. Alguns destes pedidos alcançam o que pretendem e a lista de livros banidos aumenta também. Uma das autoras com livros censurados nos Estados Unidos é Toni Morrison, que disse sobre o assunto: “Há algum pânico associado com a ideia de leitura que é completamente desproporcionado com o que acontece de facto quando alguém lê”.

Ainda bem que na minha juventude tive acesso relativamente livre a todo o conteúdo da biblioteca publica que frequentava assiduamente, onde consegui ler todos os livros que quis ler, com algum critério sobre os conteúdos, mas não muita rigidez, devido ao meu interesse genuíno e prova de compreensão sobre o que entregava. Sou muito grato por tal e dou muito valor a quem se preocupou e interessou, quem valorizou as minhas leituras, assim como o que delas retirei. Sei o valor de um livro, de muitos livros, de qualquer livro. Para mim são portas para tudo, para qualquer tempo e lugar, para o concreto e o abstracto, para a beleza e o horror, sim, mas tudo controlado pela opção pessoal, pela capacidade de escolher o que lemos. Restrições etárias são compreensíveis, mas o que vá para além disso trata-se de censura, paternalismo, ignorância.

Escreve o nosso Alexandre O'Neill, no seu "Um Poema pouco original do medo":

“(Penso no que o medo vai ter

e tenho medo

que é justamente

o que o medo quer)”

Defendamos a liberdade de ler, de opinar, de escolher, sem medo. Morte à censura, Viva a Liberdade!
