Top Famous Temples in India
The Akshardham Temple, which has 20,000 figurines of Indian spiritual luminaries, nine intricate domes, twenty quadrangle spires, and more than 234 beautifully carved pillars, is one of the main sights in Delhi. The intricately sculpted honey-colored Somnath temple on the western edge of the state is said to be the birthplace of the first of India's twelve holy jyotirlingas. There is a legend that Shiva appeared as a flaming column of light. The Sun Temple is a striking physical monument of the Hindu Kingdom of Orissa during the reign of Narasimha Deva I in the thirteenth century (AD 1238–1264). Its grandeur, elegance, and architecture serve as symbols of the era's dominant moral values as well as the strength and stability of the Ganga Empire. Known for its whole golden dome, the Golden Temple is one of the most sacred Sikh pilgrimage destinations. Situated on a 67-foot square of marble, The Mandir is a two-story edifice consisting of two levels. Maharaja Ranjit Singh used almost four hundred kilograms of gold leaf to build the top part of the palace.

It's way too hot and I am way too tired to do any more efforts, so excuse the critical lack of quality here.

If you didn't know, Cole is my favourite Power Ranger :D
And while I was binge watching Ninjago I had the pleasant surprise to see him physically and mentally traumatized in season 5 😈
And since I'm a huge sucker for angst, my brain immediately thought of developing that idea in order to hurt my beautiful baby boy some more. That and also the fact that my brain immediately looks for logic in the laws of cartoon physics (I really shouldn't do that...)
So I bring you the "Cole is a Ghost Kind-of-Saga". I still have a few more ideas to exploit, notably adressing the ways the other ninjas will help him cope with his new condition :3
And maaaaybeeeee a small comic too 😇
Anyways, I will let my brain rest a bit for now and sleep.

can we talk about how 90% of the ice ruins in albw is literally just...free falling and hoping you dont miscalculate ur jump.
can we talk about how legend probably has a fear of heights due to it.
how he was probably so stressed out by focusing on the timing that he will feel physically sick if he's really high up because he knows he doesn't have the safety of truly solid ground

I need so badly to make an MK au where Lord Raiden was a teen in the sixties and Lord Fujin was a teen in the late sixties/early-mid seventies
And they just encompass their decades as people
And Liu Kang would be so reminiscent of the 80s glam rock and hair bands and all
And then you'd have Kung Lao, who, even though him and Liu are similar ages, he'd be like a solid mix of 80s/90s

Was wondering why this particular gith face always feels like it suits baldness best and then I realized it IS in fact Orpheus' face model, Orph just has different unique ears.
Anyway welcome back, dreadwolf.

#he almost had purple-blue eyes but I've wanted to use that pink on *someone*#I have vague plans for a gith from creche y'llek who was the first gith to be shown mercy by ko'kuu#think I might use him for that#blasting him with the agonizing chronic pain beam. sorry#might call him solir which is funny because it's actually the name of a sun god in one of my homebrew campaigns#but that could work for a gith born in the monastery basement of the morninglord's temple#also: cleric. for fun and profit.#realized the orph thing when I also made him yellow RIP oh well. maybe he'll be sympathetic to orpheus' plight finally#not playing him yet I have too many other characters on the docket at the moment but I keep turning his concepts around in my head#so I wanted a visual to go with#doubly glad I didn't go with the spots ko'kuu has because I think Orph has the same ones underneath those tattoos#but I like the concept of recognition as sympathy in that sense: why ko'kuu fought for him; why he might in turn fight for orpheus#hmm#we'll see#I also wanted to see what Xa'rok looked like with these spots on because in my brain they have spots on their neck (more along the sides)#but I wasn't convinced#alas#I also like that one spot pattern with the spots on the chin.#also considered a body 1 gith for this concept but again the faces vex me. "Scholars often dismiss physique references to ancient Greece as a mere ruse or rhetorical framework--a "classical alibi" or "discourse of validation"--to avoid censorship. But an examination of the lives of the founders, contributors, and members of the [physique studio and pictorial] Grecian Guild [1955-1968] tells a different story. The Grecian Guild was instrumental in helping a community of men struggling to find a discourse to explain and valorize their sense of themselves, particularly men outside of urban gay enclaves. Benson and Bullock [the founders of the Grecian Guild] took a discourse about ancient Greece that gay men had been using for nearly a hundred years and gave it mass distribution. They used it like gay men used reference to "the Greeks" or Mary Renault novels--as a way to signal their homosexuality. It was a rallying cry that brought in customers and helped them imagine a better world. As historian and biographer Benjamin Wise argues about the way Alexander Percy used the language of Hellenism, it was "a way of speaking out and covering up at the same time."
Invoking classical traditions in order to make an argument for gay rights has been largely forgotten in the twenty-first century, as such a line of argumentation has become politically and historiographically problematic. Indeed, much of modern LGBT historical scholarship and queer theory has asserted that a homosexual identity is a creation of a modern, capitalist world--that homosexual behavior in ancient cultures was understood in very different terms from the way it is today. Invoking classical antiquity also smacks of a Western bias that privileges European ancestry over other cultural and historical influences. Such arguments also raise the specter of pederasty and pedophilia--or at least age-discordant relationships--that play into the hands of gay rights opponents who relentlessly use the argument that gays recruit children to fight gay rights measures...
Despite these changes in cultural understandings and sensibilities, the use of the classical Greek trope to name gay organizations, periodicals, and commercial ventures continued for decades, even when the need for an alibi had eroded if not disappeared. The lambda or lowercase Greek "L" became one of the primary symbols of the 1970s gay liberation movement. During this same period Seattle's largest gay organization was the Dorian Group, and a Jacksonville, Florida-based gay magazine called itself David--a reference to Michelangelo's Renaissance statue--an indirect link to the classical tradition. Like the Grecian Guild, David offered membership in a fraternal organization with features such as a book club, a travel service, conventions, and even legal aid. As an online website, it continues to serve as one of Atlanta's premier LGBT news and entertainment sources.
...
While severely limited by the forces of censorship, the desire to create opportunities for customers to correspond, meet, and get acquainted attests to the palpable wish of gay men to connect with each other during this period. If few members attended a Grecian Guild convention, the possibility of doing so resonated widely. As a teenage Grecian Guild subscriber in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Michael Denneny read the articles so carefully that he underlined the important parts. "That was proto-political organization, the agenda was very clear to me, and I think to everybody else who joined," Denneny remembered..."These magazines were really important to me," Denneny recalled. "They brought this whole possible world into being, which I'm not sure I could have visualized otherwise."

OC Meme Tag Game
ty for the tag @cleric4vampire, I just picked Cassius' save back up so perf time to talk about my barbarian boi!
Cassius
Tumblr media
Nicknames: Cass, little wretch (originally from twin sister Kestrel), dearest death
Pronouns: he/him
Star sign: I think I originally said Sagittarius but I really like Scorpio for him (and Kestrel)
Height: 5'10
Orientation: demi-romantic, bisexual
Race: half high elf
Romancing: Halsin and Astarion
Favourite fruit: any citrus, oranges and grapefruits are top faves
Favourite season: fall
Favourite flower: columbine
Favourite scent: liquorice root
Coffee, tea or hot chocolate: herbal tea
Average sleep hours: usually only 4 hours a night, but when he inevitably crashes he's out for a solid 12 at least.
Dogs or cats: he wants to love cats so badly but cats just don't love him/are scared of him
Amount of blankets: ALL OF THEM. The more the better. Bury him in blankets, yes he'll roast alive but he'll be so at peace
Random fact: younger of the two twins. Doesn't know their mother (presumed dead) and raised by a group of bhaalists at the temple. Loves spicy food!
He and kestrel have matching tattoos down both their arms. It was originally a quirk of the unique Tav mod (bc I was too scared lazy to swap out folders) but I liked the idea of them getting simular designs but with different runes/words interwoven. Kestrels has runes invoking ambition and cunning whereas Cassius's are about balance and perservence (and ofc they have each other's names woven in there so they'll always have a part of each other with them no matter where they go)

Now, what I want to see from star trek is how aliens represent other aliens in art. Imagine if that ancient Bajoran guy who space-sailed to cardassia came back and told ppl how cardassians look, spawning hundreds of kinda shitty drawings in bestiaries after a long game of telephone where they barely look recognisable (like these: first is a scorpion, second is a panther)

[Image ID: a square medieval illustration of a creature with a human-ish face, a fish-like body, and four limbs sticking out akimbo. it has a sharp tail that is piercing someone's hand. /.End ID]
[Image ID: a deer-shaped creature with a red belly, face, and legs, a blue back, green butt, and beige neck. it has white streaks coming out of its mouth, as if it's exhaling or spitting. a group of rams, sheep and deer look at it, with very confused expressions. /. End ID]
All the pre-warp species that the federation had broken the prime directive with must have some sick paintings of vaguely humanoid creatures standing around in matching outfits.
BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY: do other species have something like the zodiac? Or drawings of the star systems around their planet, using familiar figures to link different stars together? What did they call the foreign planets, before they learned they were called Vulcan or Romulus or Ferenginar? Imagine all the pre-warp star maps in different alien languages and art styles. the ones we have irl say so much about the cultures they were made in.

second pic [Image ID: an annotated diagram of the Mayan Wakah-Chan Tree, a design found on the burial lid of Lord Pacal, from circa 680 AD. It is an illustrated diagram depicting the sun, moon and planets with intricately patterned symbols. /. End ID]
third pic [Image ID: an illustration from The Book of Fixed Stars by Abd al-Rahman al-Sufi, circa 964 ad. it depicts the constellation of Orion, using a black ink drawing of a kneeling figure with the stars drawn as red circles on different parts of the body. Each of the stars are labelled in Arabic. /. End ID]
I could go on forever about how we love to look into the vast unknown to find reflections of ourselves, and how i think star trek is an extension of that urge we've clearly been having since the dawn of time. Its not just the need to study things that will help with our everyday lives (like looking at the harvest moon), its the way we often take a celestial body and make it the symbol of a human characteristic, like how klingons represent honour and vulcans represent logic. what we think about space and what we do to fill in the gaps of the unknown say a lot about how we think in general. and according to trek we think a lot about weird little blokes in weird little outfits so. yh fair enough
i think this is my most research heavy shitpost ever lmao. but please add ur thoughts or take these ideas however u like

Devin Lives au fic! Finally Geilla Bohln has a Savaran Temple.
~~
It wasn’t the most impressive of temples, one had to admit. There was no grandeur, thought there was room for it to come eventually, no ornate statues or vast mosaics. Mayhaps it could have been something more if it had been more limited, had left later expansion to add shrines rather than decorate those there. But Devin, his children, his small pack, were far from the safety of the homeworld, and he had decided that ensuring their close ties with all the gods was more important than artistry.
He was going to have to make sure Keal got proper statuary and such first after the suns by way of apology, but he had no doubt they would forgive the transgression given the circumstances. There were funds available- it wasn’t hard to get donations from the Morningstars, they had founded the pack after all- but he’d felt it better to spend the money surrounding the temple with low public buildings to ensure nothing would be built in place to shade it. Allowing that would have been an even worse blasphemy, and he’d already raised the gathering area above ground just to help prevent it. Normally one would build a temple in the highest location possible, but that just wasn’t a viable option on Earth- where digging out and building in the top of a mountain required the kind of funds even the Morningstars hissed at- and was inconvenient to the dens besides.
Better to have everyone accounted for, better to ensure the top floor wouldn’t be shaded, better to stay in a convenient location. Get everything built, finally have a proper temple with a semi-proper member of the Holyfolk to manage things. Even if it wasn’t spectacular, or perfect, it was far far better than the small, scattered shrines that had been all they had before. Something you could walk around, somewhere you could set proper tributes to a wide range of specific deities without having to force them to share, or limit yourself to just your own patron.
Yes, even a plain temple was better than no temple, and Devin couldn’t help but breath easier the first time he walked through the finished building, laying dried goods on each offering platter as he went from top to bottom. The twin suns on the top floor beneath their glass-windowed dome, the platter in the ground floor gathering chamber, the rest of the major gods on the floor below, four each of the minor gods on each of the four floors that followed.
Mainil, Tivaum, Leruv, and Vernito.
Veirum, Hegae, Faunel, and Yaon.
Mendeves, Menkaves, his Leum, and Rervon.
Vulkxhen, Menrhove, Menyuve, and Jalen.
All in good order, all with the proper offering plates, all with proper offerings, all with thanks and prayers given to welcome their presence in this place. With, he would admit, a bit a bias towards the patrons of the children- again, they would understand.
Finally, their territory had a heart.

Sometimes you have coherent thoughts and sometimes a character is told how young they are by someone pulled back from the future with such tangible heartbreaking fondness it stops their breath in their chest and then they just have to go and face the current version of that person with all the implications of that in the back of their mind

Naff actually. Now I'm thinking and it's possible this was answered before, but in terms of chaotic/ neutral/ lawful good/ neutral/ evil - where would the cryptid boys fall? From their own moral perspective? They care about sacred rules so much, so I'd peg them as definitely lawful, and probably good to neutral leaning at worst? Those are their rules, even if to humans their actions may fall under more neutral evil (don't kill exclusively rulebreakers, but hunt them specifically, opportunity kills definitely on the table, but don't go out of their way to cause chaos).
I guess I'm just - I'm just really curious about the rules the boys play by, how exactly rules become sacred, who decides that, if it's something intrinsic or a choice, and how the boys live with that - we've only heard snippets so far of their life before Y/N, possessing toys to spend time with children, guiding children, and just. They care so so much!! For their standards.
And I guess I also can't wait for the fallout for when Y/N's, not just a human, but a cryptid hunter, moral view collides with the boys' perspective, and in how far they would be willing to compromise (both, perhaps - we got a glimpse of that in the lost episode after all! But a cryptid Y/N in shock is of course going to act differently from our dear human Y/N!) AND ACTUALLY this last part I don't expect an answer to I assume that's gonna be in the fic I am just. Curious and rambly and excited fghdjs
But yeah, the alignments! To spice it up perhaps these constellations: cryptid boys from their own perspective, the average human's perspective, and Y/N from their own perspective, and from the boys' perspective? Because those differences are just!! I'm rolling around in them like catnip hehe <3
Luce! Ahahha, I love pondering over this, and this gives me a fantastic opportunity to ramble! I'm not incredibly familiar with the alignments, but I'll do my best ♥
The boys do care very much, hence why they even bother following the sacred rules. Those rules are internalized, but they expect those rules to be followed, or else. Now, from their own moral perspective, they cherish life in a very specific manner—by the nature of a person's heart. Children are inherently innocent, thus, they are pure of heart (this must be a fairytale for Sun/Moon lol) but adults fluctuate. With grown-up choices arrive effects, and with effects arrive stains upon a pulse.
They're not chaotic or evil for evil's sake. Although how they hunt/kill is very violent and frightening, they have their reasons. Hunger, punishment, and eliminating a threat are all factors in their actions, all within the restriction of the sacred rules. They, however, wouldn't be compelled to aid a human if said human wasn't a child. For that, Sun/Moon would consider themselves to be Lawful Neutral. They act as the sacred rules direct them, and don't fall to pure malice or sweet benevolence without proper motive.
From the average human's perspective? Chaotic evil. There's no time to discern what a demonic cryptid's intentions are, only that they are large, dark, and terrifying. To stumble upon a bloody scene of Sun/Moon's most recent punishment is senseless and horrifying.
Now for Cryptid Hunter!Y/N! This one is a natural pick for me as they're honorable and compassionate but within reason. Y/N is Lawful Good. They have broken rules, though they do their best not to, and while that does catch them in some awkward positions, at the end of the day, they are looking out for others, always. They try to balance the law with care. Sometimes that's a punishment for their own health, but Y/N wouldn't have it any other way.
Sun/Moon looking to Y/N and seeing the sweetest, caring, most loving cherub? They know Y/N is Lawful Good. Of course, they know Y/N has never broken sacred rules, and they see how much Y/N cares to not cause disruption and actively prevent more harm/destruction. Y/N is very honest and genuine in their pursuits in life, and they admire Y/N for their unflinching love.

Tripitaka constantly asking for food, especially in the earlier chapters, reminds me that he was possibly about 18-20 at the beginning of the journey.
