Hi luci! Since you have the wheel knowledge, in your opinion, does Oscar have the pace to fight equally with Lando next year? Like this year Lando looked clearly superior but also kinda favored by mclaren at some point

Thinking about this since some fans are getting in our family business saying that there will be a civil war at ferrari, like mclaren is free of drama😆

So it's hard to really say. Because yes, Mclaren interference made the stats look worse than I think they'd be in terms of Oscar's performance. There were many occasions he was not racing with the same car as Lando this season. He was very much treated like the second driver this season. So the H2H for me has an asterisk on it for a few weekends.

And Mclaren 100% robbed Oscar of his chance to convert a pole to a win. Now, that's not big in the grand scheme of things, but it adds up over the course of a season for stats.

"Kinda favored by mclaren" is putting it lightly in my opinion, BUT not the main point.

That being said I think that Oscar is better than Lando at W2W and overtaking. Especially W2W. Lando's W2W has been. . . lacking. Which given his higher level of experience raises some questions.

Now where Oscar needs to improve is on pace, especially qualifying pace. His race pace took a big step up this year. But his qualifying paces was kind of all over the place(again see above note about upgrades, but that excuse doesn't cover all of it)

However that's something I think is easier to improve than say something that is harder like managing W2W.

Another thing is that Oscar is more track dependent than Lando. When he's good on a track he's really good, but he'll be struggling the next one. That to me is still some of that inexperience showing. Although there are some tracks that are always harder for drivers, even the best have tracks that are their weaknesses, you just need to reduce that number as much as possible if that makes sense. No one is a master of every single track.

However we have seen that Oscar can find the pace to get ahead of Lando, and his race pace is competitive against him as well. Again less consistently but there have been weekends where he was the stronger of the Mclarens. Monaco is one example, and I would also say Miami, his pace was strong there and he was racing competitively W2W without the upgrades while Lando was unable to overtake.

But again it's the consistency in terms of pace. He is consistent in some areas, like you don't complete every lap in a season without it. It's really that qualifying that's an issue. There are times when it wasn't his fault and he had bad luck etc, but a majority of his lackluster quali performances were just down to him making mistake or not finding the time.

I think that under equal conditions assuming they have the same car next year and there isn't significant favoritism by the team then Oscar and Lando will be as close as they've ever been. However if Oscar wants to actually surpass Lando he needs to qualify better, and not just better he needs to qualify ahead of Lando. If he can do that then he's going places. If not he'll be stuck as number two at Mclaren until he or Lando leaves.

Now this really all depends on how Mclaren play things next year. Will they really let them race? After this year are they just going to back Lando until the 2026 regs? I feel like if they want to keep Oscar long term they have to let them actually race more next year. But it's Mclaren I am betting on them fumbling. We might not get to find out Oscar's full potential if Mclaren make him be support for another title bid for Lando. So it's really dependent on how the team chose to manage their drivers. I personally have a hard time believing Oscar is going to comply with another full year of team orders, but my expectations for that team are buried 10ft under, so

I think everyone who is so upset about F1 Academy needs to take a breath and remember this is not the only series they are racing in.

The end goal is not to take some 16 yr old girl and just shove her into an f1 car and call it a success. The goal is to get these women up the formula 1 ladder and do it in a realistic manner. Most of these girls are competing in their various f4 seasons at the same time. Or others like lia block do rally cross, doriane pin was supposed to race in le mans, chloe chambers is killing it in America! The goal of f1 academy is to fucking normalize women being successful in motorsport and giving them opportunities to be successful!

Like when talking about f1 academy we talk about how the cars are 'to slow' but the important part is they are in the cars and getting that practice and those points and the cost isn't coming out of their pockets. F1 academy is getting these girls into f1 teams development programs. Which is huge because if you look at it you'll realize both Bianca Bustamante and Maya weug are the first women in their teams respective programs!

They are getting access to equipment, facilities, trainers, and some of the best teams in the world for motorsport and all of this is in part to f1 Academy. And this series is allowing them to get a majorly important thing, say it with me now, SPONSORS! Because let's be real if they didn't have the publicity of f1 academy they likely wouldn't have some of their life changing sponsorships.

Anyways this makes no sense but everyone should shut up and go support these ladies because there's a chance the future female f1 driver is out there watching right now and she deserves to feel inspired, represented, and supported from the very beginning

Their teams are two of the oldest in F1 history, and they're irreperably wrapped up in a history of scandal between each other. They both quickly became their teams' golden child, the one who was going to win the championships, the one who was going to end a decade-long deficit.

Both failed at the hands of Max Verstappen. Don't even get me started on how he fits into all this.

Both have the potential to be entirely shafted by their teams in 2025 because of the new, interesting teammate that everyone believes will win a championship before they'll come close.

They hate each other. They can't get away from each other. They're the same person. Four squared is sixteen.
