going into manner of death you may think this is a show about an adult man with an adult job (performing autopsies on his childhood friends), but the further you get, the more clear it becomes that this is actually a show about an adult man with way too many adult jobs (he also treats patients in the ER, gets called in for emergency surgery, and juggles several potentially connected murder investigations as an unpaid side gig). no wonder literally every single person around him keeps randomly handing him food, even though we know he's a good cook. with only twenty-four hours in a day, it's a miracle he even finds the time to be weird and domestic with his prime murder suspect and their pet cactus

There’s something very funny about Doctor Who suggesting that tumblr will be outdated by 3, maybe 4 generations come 2049.

Watching 2000s TV shows keeps you on your toes. You'll forget it's a 2000 TV show until throws out an out-of-nowhere r slur, or a jab at queer people or racial minorities, or cringy complaining about "political correctness/PC culture" (has been replaced by the cringy complaining about "cancel culture" of today). It is amazing how precisely it dates things to the mid-2000s.

Space Babies is the only valid abortion-themed episode of Doctor Who.
Kill the Moon was just a bad dream, skip that episode during rewatches.

spoilers alert
…….. sooooo….
Am I the only one surprised that Millie… might not want a baby???
I was honestly thinking this was just another “Millie’s being weird for some reason Viv won’t write well… again…” moment, but then in the bathroom I immediately went ohhhhh ok. Baby time. It’s happening.
But then… when she’s all “I don’t know what do to??” to Sallie??? I dunno about y’all, but I thought for sure this b wanted to be a mom someday. I thought if anything it would be Moxxie having the anxiety pro-con charts about keeping one. But they always seemed like a couple who def were going to have kids?? And I don’t think they’ve ever talked about being protected…
I know it could be the whole “I’m not ready- yet!!” excuse, but I just… it seems like a ton of forced drama from a woman who cannot seem to to write women without throwing an external problem at them. Tell me I’m not alone feeling like this is all…. sum bs

ten caps per episode - Law and Order Criminal Intent - s01e11 - The Third Horseman
Eames: "From locks to lock n load." Deakins: "Next step for Mr. Griscom is lockup."
#my stuff#goren/eames#goren and eames#law and order criminal intent#ten caps: loci#ten caps per episode#loci s01e11#love this ep#we get alex broaching some tough topics with bobby#everyone's done a gifset or whatever of the scene where she asks him his thoughts on abortion#so i won't beat a dead horse#but here's what i love about that scene#it's important to alex#she wants to know what bobby thinks bc it's a big deal to her#like she was so bothered by the stuff he said to the bad guy when trying to win his trust#like alex KNOWS he's playing the suspects. intellectually. she knows that.#but once in a while there are these times where she gets this feeling like#wait is he just playing them? or..? and she just has to know what he thinks#and when he gives kind of a non committal answer she's like nuh uh#you will answer me#and bobby answers because alex doesn't demand a lot of him directly and personally#as we see throughout the series#alex has a really strong sense of morality and ethics#and i think that's what she loves about bobby too that brings her around to like being partners with him#in the wee small hours in her testimony she specifically said she changed her mind bc she found him to be an ethical person#i think that's one of her biggest things about her opinions on others#so it was really important to her to know where her partner stood#topic change but also the quote i used makes me smile#i think deakins had a sense of frivolity about him and liked to be playful with alex'

K so, Semblances are connected to Aura which is a manifestation of the soul yeah?
In Before the Dawn, the father of the villains confirms that one of twin's semblance was active in the womb throughout a good portion of the pregnancy
Meaning, in Remnant, fetuses have souls. Wonder how legal abortions are
Edit: just remembered Pyrrha had to unlock Jaune's Aura in V1, so does that mean someone cracked open a fetus's Aura inside the womb? Was Gillian strong enough as a cluster of cells to unlock it herself?? Wtf is this origin story???
#rwde#I don't think myers wrote this w the angle of prolife propaganda but hoo boy did he not think this plot through#(tho idk his politics so he could have subconsciously done it. this is the doctor who moon abortion episode all over again)#btd sucked so bad but what keeps snagging in my brain is that the whole thing that kicked off the twins monarchy scheme -#- the crown birthmark born to one every generation - was apparently burned into gillian???#and its NEVER FOLLOWED UP ON#like kudos to FUCKING COCO OF ALL PEOPLE for commenting on her enemy being BRANDED but why is it just the one comment???#idk who I'd go for first: the father or the brother. who's ego is inflated enough to justify burning their own kin?#and why even do it? i dont think myers would write jax and gill to follow the royal tradition of bloodline purity-#-so they couldnt rule together right? why even bother marking her if the crown would always go to jax?#and why cant a single rwby villain have a scheme that makes sense to some degree?#jax wanting remnant to get a little bit genghis khan is so fucking stupid and baseless. where is the logic behind it?#the best villains either do heinous shit for shits and giggles or they genuinely do have a point but came to the wrong conclusion#thats why tyrian and watts are the only decent villains post v3. theyre both in it for themselves and unapologetic abt it#jax and gill are just annoying. go join a fight club and leave vacuo alone kthxbai#anyway thanks for attending another episode of rwby has shit world building and even worse implications#yodeling into the void

I suppose it’s a possibility unless they ever elaborate on the situation (UNLIKELY) but I also think it’s a reach when people imagine Dennis as actively keeping up with his child and remaining present in his life because I’m 98% convinced he just deadbeat dadded it. I feel like 'raising a family from a distance' is probably code for 'paying child support'

Doctor Who's Kill the Moon🤝Voyager's Retrospect🤝yes I know the writers didn't intend for the story to be a metaphor the thing that it is obviously a metaphor for , but the thing is, it's an extremely obvious metaphor, so for better or worse (worse) it is about that and while I feel kinda bad for the writers knowing that the thing they created is reviled for totally unintended reasons, the episode does suck so so bad

Ok before you get mad at mad me, this was your idea. So we took out the kid whose power was Heart, because he seemed like he did fuck all -extraneous, right?- and the villains immediately started killing civilians. Yeah, on screen. No cutaways. Mhm, they used the k-word and everything. Melted a guy in magma...

I found it really interesting how like... 14x01 gave points to both sides of the abortion debate.
On the one hand, it points out the hypocrisy of some pro-lifers who are determined that all babies be born, and then seem to stop caring what happens to the babies once they're here in the world, are perfectly fine with abandoning them to cruel fates.
On the other hand, it makes the claim that even though you might not see something as a baby, you still need to save it, you can't just abort discard it out of fear.
And I just. I actually really love that they didn't do a one-to-one allegory for the abortion thing, as they so easily could have. No one likes being lectured or moralised at. By allowing the complexity the writers made the episode so much better. It both stands on it's own as a unique story, and also prompts nuanced thought about various aspects of what is a very complex and divisive issue.
