This is your name, a voice told him. This is your purpose. This is your destiny.

The stone was warm under his feet and he wanted to touch his feet and his legs and his arms and his face.  Something ached in him.

Wrong, it said. It wasn’t the voice. Wrong.

Pick up the Sheikah Slate, the voice told him.

He obeyed.

Some part of him wondered why.

Link, he repeated, cutting the head of the mushroom with a newly cleaned knife he’d stolen from a pig-nosed monster. Link, Link, your name is Link.

Is it?

He paused. A howling wind brushed through the trees. The campfire danced to its tune. Shuddering, he looked past the broken walls of the Great Plateau. Lines of orange mixed with the pale dots of stars. They created their own grounded constellations across the landscape.

Maybe they were a story.

Maybe... maybe they were his story.

Ducking his head down, the boy brought the tip of the knife to the stem of another mushroom.

Link, he thought, my name is Link.

The Sea Began to Foam | Original Story

She knew the dangers of walking into the tide barefoot and only in a night gown late into the autumn night. She sought out this danger. Without wailing, without so much as a tear, she walked through the farming lands, over the bridge, and onto the beach he frequently met her for promenade.

She knew the nature of the dangers she sought. But not of what awaited her beneath the waves.

Something huge and heavy collided hard against her chest and pushed against her until she fell back into the wet sand, freezing water up to her shoulders. Her skin began to prickle as her thin dress kept nothing of the wind and sea water off of her.

"That was foolish!" A voice shouted from somewhere between the rushing waves.

Choking on the salty night air, she searched the dark abyss ahead of her looking for the owner of the voice and her assailant. Eventually, she found them. A woman soaked to the bone, head and shoulders visible above the pitch black waves, several feet in front of her.

"Foolish?" The lady gasped. "I knew what I was doing. I mean to join you."

"Nobody means to join the sisters," the sea creature answered. "What brings you to Storm's Edge?"

"My beloved," the lady answered, with barely a breath in her lungs. "he has been unfaithful. I've given my life away for him and he intents to use this way."

The sea creature's head tilted ever so slightly to the right. "This beloved - I have seen the two of you walking past."

The lady nodded.

"A sailor, yes?"

"How - well, yes, aboard The Abluvion."

The sea creature looked over her shoulder and something flashed in teh moonlight. Turning back to the lady, she instructed, "There is a cove in the cliffs on the shore. Sleep there tonight. We will keep watch. Tomorrow, you return to your village."

"I-"

There was another glinting flash in the moonlight as a second creature surfaced. "They sail at dawn."

"Send notice to the Archfae." The creature turned back to the lady. "To the cove, now. A storm is coming."

The lady stood, shaky and frozen, heavy with the water. She began to trudge through the wet, sinking sand, and bubbling noise following her in the air. Once she made it to dry sand, she turned and caught her breath at the sight before her.

Hundreds of scaled tails flashed under the moon and teh Sisters of the Siren set out. And the sea began to foam.
