Although two of her male colleagues won the 1957 Nobel Prize in Physics as a result, her contribution was not formally until she received the first Wolf Prize in 1978. Dr. Wu received the National Medal of Science from President Ford on October 18, 1976, "for her ingenious experiments that led to new and surprising understanding of the decay of the radioactive nucleus."

We begin Halloween with a ghost story.
Stingy Jack invited the devil for a drink.
As Irish folklore goes, Jack didn’t want to pay for the drinks, and instead convinced the devil to turn himself into a coin that could be used to settle the tab.
The devil agreed, but Jack ditched the tab and kept the coin. When he finally died, Stingy Jack was denied entry to both heaven and hell and instead was given a burning coal to light his way as he roamed the earth for eternity. He placed the coal in a carved-out turnip, turning it into a lantern.
Stingy Jack became known as “Jack of the Lantern,” or Jack-o’-Lantern, by the late 17th century. Elsewhere in Europe, making lanterns out of potatoes and beets was part of a fall harvest celebration. Lights were also thought to ward off evil spirits.
By the end of the 19th century, European immigrants in America switched their carving tradition over to pumpkins.
“The fortunate pumpkin is a noble fruit, a joy in the mouth of mankind, a paean of Autumn on the happy palate,” a 1942 Times article proclaimed. “The unfortunate pumpkin becomes a jack-o’-lantern.”
Remy Tumin contributed reporting.

Bajan Newscap 2/3/2017
Good Morning #realdreamchasers! Here is your daily news cap for Friday 3rd February 2017. Remember you can read full articles via Barbados Today (BT) or by purchasing a Weekend Nation Newspaper (WN).
Tumblr media
ZERO INTEREST – It is becoming harder for Barbadians to earn any form of interest on their domestic savings accounts. A day after CIBC FirstCaribbean officially slashed its deposits rate to between 0.15 and 0.5 per cent, local customers of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) said they have also been put on notice that their savings rate is about to hit an all-time low of 0.01 per cent. The RBC changes, which take effect on March 1, will affect customers with RBC’s Day to Day Savings, Enhanced Savings, Leo Young Savers and SixtyPlus accounts, and essentially means that those deposit accounts with a minimum $100 will only be able to attract one cent in savings interest. Last month, CIBC FirstCaribbean had put its customers on notice of its reduction, which took effect on February 1. However, the move by the two Canada-headquartered banks is still seen as a major blow for local depositors, who prior to April 2015 were guaranteed a minimum interest rate of 2.5 per cent until the Central Bank decided to de-regulate the market. In an immediate response, former head of the Barbados Bankers’ Association Horace Cobham suggested that the Central Bank may need to make an about turn in the interest of local customers, who he said were clearly not reaping the benefits of the current surplus in the banking system. (BT)
PRIVATE SECTOR NOT OPPOSED TO MINIMUM WAGE – The private sector here is “fully in favour” of the yet to be constituted minimum wages board proposed in the Minimum Wages Bill, approved by the Senate yesterday. President of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry Eddy Abed said as long as all the relevant interest groups were included, the business community would wholeheartedly back the board, which is to advise Government on minimum wage. Minister of Labour Esther Byer-Suckoo told the Senate yesterday the board would be comprised of nine members – three each representing employers and employees and three appointed by the Minister of Labour. It will be expected to make recommendations on the options of either a national minimum wage or a sectoral minimum, based on prevailing social and economic conditions. While the scope of the board was being discussed, Abed said the timing was ideal, as the nation was focusing more seriously on productivity and competitiveness. And although it is still in the conception stage, the longstanding businessman already knows what he wants the board to tackle. Abed also sought to dismiss any suggestions that the business community was opposed to minimum wage, stressing that policymakers, businessmen and the entire country needed to look at the big picture, including the livelihood of every Barbadian. (BT)
UWI URGED TO OFFER WORK ATTACHMENTS - The University of the West Indies (UWI) is being advised to introduce a compulsory work attachment to its programmes as part of the requirements for a degree. “Perhaps the time is also ripe for the establishment of attachment to relevant businesses and institutions as a necessary component of degree programmes so that today’s graduate, as the saying goes, faces the road running upon graduation,” Vere Parris, president of the Barbados Association of Principals of Public Secondary Schools told yesterday’s opening of the 12th annual national career showcase for third to fifth form secondary school students at the Cave Hill Campus. In addition, Parris proposed a mandatory course in entrepreneurship be added to the university’s curriculum. This, he said, would help students focus more sharply on creating businesses out of their fields of study, while the region would realize its goal of sustainable employment in an entrepreneurial-based economy. The showcase is a partnership between the Barbados Association of Guidance Counsellors (BAGC) and the Cave Hill Campus, and Parris saw such synergies as an opportunity for the university to develop programmes that will benefit students and businesses. However, he said this would have to be done in a cost effective manner, given the university’s economic reality. “Application based programmes are likely to attract more of today’s youth for study as well as more investment funding for the said programmes,” Parris said. (BT)
$500,000 BILL – Government would have to shell out close to $500 000 on materials alone to replace the poles and fixtures along the Spring Garden and ABC Highways. An investigation into the dark and potentially dangerous unlit streets has revealed that it would take thousands of dollars to illuminate the roads. A pole and fixtures can cost up to $12 000 while a bulb can cost $200. However, a destroyed pole can also result in destroyed underground cables on both sides of a pole, which goes for $7.50 per foot, with there being approximately 150 feet of cable between poles. A WEEKEND NATION team counted more than 50 unlit bulbs and more than two dozen missing poles along both highways. Extrapolate this to the number of empty spaces along the highways where lamp posts are “supposed to be” and the cost can easily reach into the millions. The cost does not include labour. (WN)
MIRCHANDANI WELCOMES HYATT – Prominent businesswoman Asha “Mrs Ram” Mirchandani is planning for the arrival of her new high-rise neighbour on Bay Street, The City. The owner of several Bridgetown businesses says she plans to take full advantage of opportunities the Hyatt Hotel would present for her business located next door. Mirchandani, who has been a mainstay in the capital for several decades, was convinced the advent of Hyatt, which has been mired in controversy, would mean an improvement in the fortunes of other Bridgetown businesses. “I think it is a welcome move. It is good for the Barbadian people, it is good for the country,” she told the WEEKEND NATION. (DN)
LESC NOT HEALTH HAZZARD - The health of occupants of the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre (LESC) is not at risk. That assurance has come from management of the Barbados Conference Services Limited (BCSL), the company responsible for the upkeep of the Two Mile Hill, St Michael facility. Following reports that the Ministry of Tourism, which is housed upstairs the LESC, was one of several Government agencies being plagued by health hazards and environmental issues, the quality assurance officer at the BCSL Mary Rose insisted this was not true. In last week’s WEEKEND NATION, a source had complained that an issue with the ministry’s air conditioning had forced the relocation of staff downstairs in December. (WN)
TICKED OFF - When Cheryl Broome-Webster bought a $4 800 Bulgari watch from Diamonds International on Lower Broad Street in 2013, she was over the moon with glee. However, almost four years later, the retired banker is rueing what she has described as “the worst purchase I ever made”. Broome-Webster told the WEEKEND NATION that since purchasing the designer piece, she had encountered several issues with the watch. She complained that while the watch strap was supposed to be leather, it was not, and had become discoloured, and that she had not received a Cartier cleaning kit, which she said was specifically for a bracelet watch and not a leather strap timepiece. (WN)
CHEATED CANADIANS CALL IN THE COPS - There’s a new twist to the story of a Canadian couple who claimed they were cheated of $2,500 used as security deposit for their accommodation at a condominium on the west coast. Visitors Jan and Cyndi Oster now report that the police are looking into the case. Public Relations Officer Inspector Roland Cobbler of the RBPF could not confirm the Force’s involvement, promising to provide information Friday. However, the visiting couple said the matter was in the hands of the Fraud Squad.  Jan claimed they had been forced to cope with an owner who was not aware the condo had been rented, an unhelpful agent, a change in management, a request for a hastened departure because the unit was up for sale, and an unwillingness by everyone to return their deposit. He said since Barbados TODAY broke the story several hotels have come forward with offers of free accommodation, a gesture not lost on the visitors who expressed heartfelt thanks for the support they had received since sharing their ordeal. “We [want to] thank the Royal Barbados Police Force, and specifically the Fraud Squad for coming to the rescue with their investigations. We really had nowhere to turn in this matter as we are visitors to your beautiful island. Since Tuesday Barbados TODAY has repeatedly tried to reach the manager of Rival Enterprises and has left several messages that have not been acknowledged up to the time of publication. (BT)

BRUTALITY FILE READY BY FRIDAY –Within the next week it should be known if police officers will face charges in the brutal beating of Nazim Blackett last May. Acting Assistant Commissioner in charge of crime Lybron Sobers, told the WEEKEND NATION he expected the file to be completed and on the desk of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) by next Friday.  The 20-year-old’s mother, Tracy Blackett, accused police officers of severely beating her son, leaving him with internal injuries and bleeding on his lungs. The beating allegedly took place after Nazim was taken into custody for questioning.  (WN)
ANOTHER ROAD FATALITY - Barbados has recorded another road fatality. A 59-year-old male pedestrian died after being involved in an accident along Harts Gap Main Road, Christ Church around 8.18 p.m. The man, whose name has been withheld by police, was struck by a motor car driven by Tyson Babb, 30, of Downes Gap, Arthur Seat, St Thomas. The victim was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance, but later succumbed to his injuries. Investigations are continuing. (BT)

TEEN CRITICAL AFTER SHOOTING - A CHRIST CHURCH teenager is in critical condition at the Queen’s Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) after two masked intruders shot him multiple times yesterday. Eighteen-year-old Michael Edwards was at his Bartlett Tenantry, Sargeant Village home around 2:30 p.m. when the gunmen entered his premises and shot him twice. While Edwards was taken to the QEH, residents and family members on the scene told the WEEKEND NATION they were still disturbed by the brazen attack in broad daylight just behind the premises of Price Lo Supermarket. “I was here next door doing my cooking. My son had now come back home to get something and I got up to put peas in my pelau . . . He said he was going to take back a cellphone and then two gunmen came down with two guns in their hands and had on masks,” a resident, who requested anonymity, said. (WN)
BULLEN ADMITS TO KILLING TEEN – Ten years after 14-year-old Kalifa Downes went missing, the man responsible for killing her and dumping her body has pleaded guilty. But even before Ryan Antonio Oneal Bullen owned up in the High Court Thursday to the manslaughter of the Lower Burney, St Michael girl, the court heard, he had admitted to police that he had raped the teen before fatally stabbing her. Bullen’s guilty plea came just over three years after he was arrested and charged in connection with Downes’ death. Kalifa’s father, Darnley Alleyne, had reported the teen missing on April 18, 2007. He told lawmen at the time that he had last seen her around 10 p.m. five days earlier. Alleyne explained that it was not unusual for his daughter to leave home for a few days, as she had spent time at her boyfriend’s residence on previous occasions. The father’s pronouncements led police to the home of the boyfriend, Damien Delpleshe, but he told police that he had not seen Kalifa for the same period. Principal Crown Counsel Elwood Watts told the court presided over by Madam Justice Jacqueline Cornelius that the teen’s body was found two days after she was reported missing, in the Pine pasture near Pine Hill Dairy. The police investigation into her death continued, but the case went cold and was unsolved for six years. Lawmen finally cracked the case by following leads on a mobile phone sim card that had been taken from the dead girl’s cellular phone. Their investigations led them to Bullen who was found to be using the sim card. The killer, then 35, was taken into custody on November 13, 2013 and he told lawmen he was walking through a track behind the Pine area when he met the girl. Bullen said he stopped and asked her a question and they began talking. In his statement to investigators Bullen also admitted that he had unprotected sex with the teenager. “I . . . asked her for sex, she say ‘no’. Then I pull my knife and grab she by she hand . . . and I pull her towards the bushy area . . . pull down she pants and had sex with her,” he said. In the statement read by the Crown’s representative, Bullen also revealed that it was when he snatched Downes’ mobile phone that she used the opportunity to attack him. “I lash out at her with de hand that had de knife . . . I see she stop and fall to the ground. I went and check . . . and realized she was not moving,” he told police. Bullen said when he noticed the girl was dead, he dragged her to another area and left the body. He then took the sim card out of her phone and threw away the phone in a bushy area on the opposite side. The sim was inserted in other phones which Bullen used. The prosecutor confirmed that the autopsy on Downes’ decomposing body showed that she had died from injuries to the heart, caused by a sharp instrument. The court heard today that this crime was not Bullen’s first brush with the law. His conviction card showed that he had committed rape, theft, robbery, assault and criminal damage in the past. Bullen, who is represented by attorney-at-law Marlon Gordon, returns to court on March 2 for sentencing. Justice Cornelius ordered a report on his time in prison and a pre-sentencing report for that date. (WN)
BACK TO JAIL FOR FRAUD ACCUSED - Two visitors, who are accused of a number of fraud-related offences, will have to wait a while longer to know their fate. They are 28-year-old Constantin Ursu of Romania and 31-year-old Andre Harvey of Jamaica, who police earlier said also had Romanian citizenship. The duo was arrested and formally charged last week for the offences, which were allegedly committed on Wednesday  January 25, 2017. Today, they appeared before Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch in the District ‘C’ Magistrates’ Court, but were both sent back to prison until February 6. (BT)
THEIF CAUGHT - A repeat offender was today sentenced to nine months behind bars for theft. Damien Debarge Wilkinson, 31, of Jordan’s Lane, The City, recently pleaded guilty to entering Astride Leon’s house on September 9, 2016 and stealing a laptop valued $800, four pairs of earrings valued $360, a $30 pendant, a $70 ring and $50 in cash. The unemployed man also admitted to stealing a backpack valued $100 and an $80 skateboard belonging to Brandi Wommack. He denied the charges when he first appeared before Magistrate Douglas Fredrick in September last year. However, he had a change of heart when he appeared before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant. The jewellery and laptop were recovered, but the cash was not. Wilkinson told police he had used the money for bus fare. The backpack and the skateboard were taken from near Wommack’s garage. Wilkinson had also allegedly attempted to take a bicycle but soon realized the tyres were flat. The thief took the other two items, jumped over the wall of the property, threw away the skateboard and the items in the backpack, but kept the backpack. He then boarded a minibus. However, after the matter was reported, lawmen stopped the vehicle, detained Wilkinson and took him back to the crime scene. “I come up hard and ting. . . . I lost my whole family in a house fire and life has been hard since 2003. [That’s when] I got into drugs. I have been asking for help,” Wilkinson told the court today, when asked whether he anything to say. “I come out of jail and have nothing to eat, so I had to steal. I try to help myself already,” he responded. Cuffy-Sargeant then imposed two nine-month prison sentences on Wilkinson to run concurrently, with the time spent on remand deducted from that period. (BT)
DRIVING IN THE DARK – The highways of Barbados can be long, dark and lonely places. That is because a number of missing lights. At times, the only light on major roads such as the ABC Highway, Spring Garden Highway, St Michael, and the Ronald Mapp Highway, St Thomas, comes from the travelling vehicle. Early morning or late night road users usually experience the enveloping darkness when traffic is sparse. The WEEKEND NATION team investigating complaints of poor lighting took to a number of areas including the ABC Highway, specifically the stretch from the Grantley Adams International Airport to Kendal Hill, Christ Church, and found around ten unlit poles. The problem results from the large gaps between some of the poles, sometimes because the lights have been uprooted as a result of accidents. (WN)
STEERING BARBADOS TO ROAD SAFETY - Just a month into 2017, Barbados has recorded five road fatalities – five too many. That’s half the number recorded at the end of last year, which marked the lowest number of deaths from road accidents in 30 years. Then there are also the daily accidents in which too many are injured. Just yesterday alone, nine people were injured in four accidents. If this trend continues, with so many cars on our roads, more families will have to endure unnecessary grief – if no intensive effort is made to convince the public to take road safety more seriously. This was indeed the latest call by the Barbados Road Safety Association (BRSA), which in recent months has been flagging the powers that be to act now to put the brakes on bad road practices. Some motorists hardly obey traffic lights – amber now means to speed. Drivers overtake recklessly – four and five vehicles at a time, even around corners; too many refuse to stop at pedestrian crossings and others hardly observe speed limits, particularly on the highway where the 80 mile-per-hour limit appears to be an incentive to speed. Consideration for other road users and defensive driving with constant appreciation of road conditions, all help avoid mistakes. But this is hardly possible if the driver is talking incessantly on a cellphone. Pedestrians themselves are no less guilty. Some members of the public cross the road whenever and wherever they like, daring motorists to hit them. They, too, are guilty of not paying attention, talking on cellphones or wearing earphones while walking the streets. Also important is the upkeep of vehicles. Despite established inspection regulations, vehicles can be seen every day that should not be on the road. Authorities also have a duty to maintain proper roads, and have clear road markings and signs and adequate lighting in all areas. Motorists and pedestrians alike must step up their efforts to abide by the law and be wise on the roads. Law enforcers must engage all stakeholders to develop better strategies to make our roads safe, and ultimately save lives. (BT)
CHANGES LIKELY TO DOG CONTROL LAW – Minister of Health John Boyce Wednesday announced the authorities would examine the legislation with a view to making changes. Under the 1984 Act, dog owners face a $250 fine for failure to register a dog. There is a $100 fine and/or a month imprisonment for failure to attach a tag to the dog. A dog licence costs only $5 and is valid for a period of 12 months, and must be renewed annually. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on Monday called for more stringent dog control laws, with Veterinary Inspector Wayne Norville telling Barbados TODAY better must be done to protect Barbadians from attacks by vicious dogs. Saturday’s attack also led to calls for the banning of some breed of dogs, including pit bulls. Boyce steered clear of the subject, telling reporters the authorities would look to other countries as benchmark on steps to be taken “with a view to any amendments” deemed necessary. Boyce, who said he was “deeply saddened” by the attack, refused to entertain questions about Saturday’s tragedy. He also would not say what sections of the legislation were being considered for amendment or how soon those changes would be taken to Parliament. There were 32, 417 dogs registered here up to last year, and 20,781 dog owners, however, the authorities could not give a breakdown of the breeds of dog. The animal control centre, which is responsible for responding to complaints from the public on dog-related issues, last year placed 96 dogs in new homes under its re-homing programme. (BT)
DON’T BAN THEM – A breeder of large dogs is pleading with Government not to ban any of the perceived dangerous dogs here. Amid public outrage and calls for the banning of some breeds following Saturday’s deadly canine attack on 74-year-old Verona Gibson of Monroe Road, Haggatt Hall, St Michael, Minister of Health John Boyce announced yesterday that the authorities were considering banning certain dog breeds. However, Akita breeder Reynold Cuffy hit back, contending that any attempts to ban dogs such as the Akita and the pit bull would be based on nothing but hysteria. Cuffy admitted that these dogs could be dangerous, but he argued those that randomly attacked people were often maltreated. In Barbados, he said, the prevalence of dog fighting was a major factor in the maltreatment of dogs. “I used to breed pit bulls and Rottweilers years ago but now I only breed for security companies because I realized that a lot of guys were using them for dog fighting. “I stopped in 2008 to be exact when a guy hang a dog I sold him because he put it to fight and lost $4,000. I cried like a baby when I saw that because I love all the dogs that come out of my kennels. If you treat dogs well they will behave like normal members of the home,” Cuffy said. Between 2005 and 2015 pit bulls were responsible for 64 per cent of all canine deaths in the United States. They are banned in 12 countries around the world, including Brazil, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Finland, Poland, New Zealand, Norway, the United Kingdom and Puerto Rico. Meanwhile, several US states do not allow the importation of Akitas, which are native to the mountainous regions of Japan. This notwithstanding, Cuffy, who has 22 years of experience as a dog trainer and has worked with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Force canine unit as well as several reputable security firms, placed the blame squarely on dog owners, saying many of them inflict pain on the animals in order to assert dominance. This was one of the key reasons, he suggested, these dogs attacked people without provocation or warning. He also spoke about impact that the tropical climate had on Akitas, a cold climate breed which can become agitated in the heat of Barbados. In order to keep them comfortable, he suggested, owners of that breed should keep them in air conditioned environments. The Akita was originally bred for hunting, but is also used as an effective guard dog. The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention does not list it among the most likely to attack humans, but says its sheer size and power means that whenever it attacks, it is likely to cause serious injury. (BT)
GERMANY BUILDS WALL AROUND US - A wall has appeared around the United States — at a popular miniature world attraction in the German city of Hamburg. Operators of the Miniatur Wunderland erected the wall complete with barbed wire this week, separating the US display from the rest of the world. The site is one of Hamburg’s most popular tourist attractions, featuring a vast indoor model railway stretching across two floors. Co-founder Gerrit Braun said Thursday the idea for the wall arose after staff discussed whether the US display needed changing to reflect “current developments”. Braun said the wall wasn’t meant to represent US President Donald Trump’s promised concrete barrier along the border with Mexico. Instead, it was intended to encourage visitors to think about what happens “when we build ideological walls around our countries”. (BT)
BARBADOS TOURISM PRODUCT UNDER REVIEW – BARBADOS’ TOURISM PRODUCT is under constant review to ensure it fills the needs of visitors to these shores. This assurance came from Prime Minister Freundel Stuart last night as he spoke at the Repeat Visitors’ Reception at Ilaro Court. Stuart told the visitors: “The obligation of the Government also is to ensure that we do not rest on our laurels and believe that what we call our tourism product can remain in an unchanged state, from everlasting to everlasting. “We have to be constantly working on those delights and those attractions which we make available for your enjoyment, and therefore, the tourism product of Barbados is under continuing review and development because we do not want monotony to set in and when you come to Barbados you are bored….” The annual Repeat Visitors’ Reception is hosted once monthly from January to April. The Prime Minister explained that it was held for those visitors who “have invested very heavily” in this society and who visit yearly, demonstrating their loyalty to the island. The Prime Minister also offered heartfelt sympathy to the Canadian visitors following the shooting at a Canadian mosque earlier this week, which officials have described as a terrorist attack. During the night, several repeat visitors were presented to the Prime Minister, including two couples who were on their 50th visit. (WN)
WORRELL WILLING TO LEND A HAND – Ivor Worrell will not be challenging for the post of president of the Barbados Amateur Bodybuilding Federation following the announcement that Dr Andrew Forde will not be seeking re-election. But he wants to be involved and has a few suggestions to take the sport forward. “I hope to be part of the team that would be elected to run office, maybe somewhere down the road [the top position] is a possibility. A former president by the name of Manasseh King is earmarked, and we are supporting him to take the reins from Dr Forde,” Worrell said. “He has been in the chair before, he has had his issues before, but he has learnt from them and is willing to come back and lend a hand, with our support,” he told WEEKENDSPORT. (WN)
UNBELIEVABLE – DR. Adrian Lorde can’t quite believe it. The chairman of the Caribbean Regional Anti-Doping Organisation has been left scratching his head, wondering how a prominent sportsman like Andre Russell could fail to give his whereabouts and miss three drug tests.   Lorde’s comments come just days after the star West Indies all-rounder was hit with a 12-month ban by the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission for the violation. “I am surprised that this has happened. I know this happens to smaller-named athletes because they fail to do it [give their whereabouts], but someone at his level should have a management team which would do such things for him . . . , so I am very surprised this happened,” Lorde said. (WN)
SUPER FIGURES FOR BENN – Seasoned spinner Sulieman Benn has the best economy rate, while his Barbados Pride teammate Ashley Nurse has the most wickets ahead of today’s start of second round Group B matches in the WICB Regional Super50 Tournament. Unbeaten leaders Barbados Pride with 19 points, oppose winless ICC Americas at Windward Club at 9 a.m., while CCC Marooners battle Guyana Jaguars in a key day/night match at Kensington Oval from 1:30 p.m. The Marooners, Guyana Jaguars and Jamaica Scorpions, who have the best run rate, all have nine points at the end of the first round. Benn, who was dropped from the West Indies team for the final match of the last year’s tri-series in Zimbabwe, has been extremely miserly in his team’s four matches. (WN)
RALLY BASE AT BUSHY PARK - “RALLY CENTRAL” for Sol Rally Barbados will be at Bushy Park. The move from the former Banks Brewery building at Wildey, St Michael, is part of a major restructuring by the Barbados Rally Club (BRC) as preparations are being made for the future of the club and Sol Rally Barbados, whose chairman Mark Hamilton said finding a location large enough to house the number of overseas cars, along with spare parts, tyres and associated equipment was no easy task. “In light of the impending sale of the former Banks Brewery building at Wildey, where Rally Barbados has been for the past four years, ‘Rally Central’ will now be located in the pits at Bushy Park Barbados, a secure facility and workshop that will host the majority of visiting crews,” Hamilton said. He added that the Banks building had served the club well for the past four years and was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate the steady growth in the overseas entries over that period. (WN)
