@cleklock: I had already given some spoilers in the stories, but here is a little more about “A Different Man”. The film is provocative and a great experience in which we see ourselves with a mix of reactions, sensations and feelings. Director Aaron Schimberg defines it as a comedy, but it pokes us deep and makes us feel bad at various moments, making us think about who we are and how we react when we come across ‘different’ people. A super powerful story that questions us about who we really are and what matters on the outside… our packaging! Actor Adam Pearson in real life had his face deformed due to suffering from neurofibromatosis that developed in childhood and in the film he plays an actor. Sebastian Stan plays the role of a man who has neurofibromatosis, undergoes cosmetic procedures and ends up with this face that God gave him. We talked to them after the session and, mainly, to Sebastian, who told us that he went around New York with the movie makeup done by the incredible artist Mike Marino (the same one who did the Penguin and Colin Farrell's transformation). Stan talked about how it was to feel people's reactions, some pretended they didn't see him, others were scared, others wanted to be extremely friendly. Sebastian also told me that he LOVES Brazil and that he thinks he'll be there soon... maybe at @ccxpoficial? 😉 We also talked to him about Marvel, The Apprentice - which is coming soon and is already nominated for an Oscar - and even about his girlfriend who grew up in Portugal, in Cascais... oh and about the dolls with his 'face'... look at photo 7 that I took of him reacting to the doll 🤣 Yes, he's the best! Adam Pearson is also very nice and I think we learned a lot from him and from this movie. He's incredible in the role! In addition to talking about inclusion, we have to discuss the way we look at others, react to differences and what we are without our packaging - which disappears very quickly, by the way. The debate that this film raises and that Pearson brings is extremely important. In fact, the film stays in your head and it is difficult to stop thinking about it. It is from @A24 and has no release date in Brazil.

𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐲 (𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲)

That was a beautiful morning on the island of Sodor. Even among that sad cloudy sky, some small rays of light slipped through the clouds. And, since there was no rain forecast for that day, the steamies need not fear for their fur.

At that moment, a pale yellow furred engine with gold and gray eyes, was at the Knapford Shunting Yard, chatting with one of her workmates.

-It's funny to see that Aaron is coming with you Edward- She said. -Wasn't James his mentor?-

The old blue-eyed male nodded.

-Let's say the red boy took the day off. You know, his pups were born recently, and he couldn't visit Rosie before- He explained.

-And that allows me to be with dad during the entire work day!- The young engine laughed.

-You seem excited about that little one- the blonde-furred one smiled.

-I hope you're aware that not because I am your father I'm going to be soft on you boy- Edward stroked his son's head while an amused purr came out of his smoke box.

-I know dad, Thomas warned me about that already- Aaron answered rolling his eyes with a smile.

She smiled. Aaron had recently started his training and could barely see his father. So seeing them together was really adorable.

-And what about your little ones Molly? Neville told me that they'll join Aaron in a couple of months- Edward said.

Molly had four pups, old enough to begin their training to work on the railway. So it was obvious that, sooner or later, someone would ask her about them. They keep telling everyone about it.

-Oh! Well, in fact, STH is already thinking about which engine will be their mentor. The only bad thing is... Well...- The golden-eyed looked down, she seemed worried. -I just hope that Ashley can be named an apprentice alongside her siblings...- She sighed.

Edward placed his front paw on the female's shoulder. -Hey, don't worry, I'm sure she'll recover in time.- He meowed, comforting her.

She smiled slightly. -Thank you Edward. Is there anything else to do here? I have to go see this little smoke ball at the Steamworks.-

-Don't worry about that. Aaron and I will take care of it.- The blue-eyed engine said with a shake of his head, indicating that she should go see her daughter.

Molly said goodbye to both of them and headed towards the Steamworks.

They had been rebuilt a few years ago due to the biological changes of the locomotives after the "Bloody Disaster", a pandemic that wiped out 60% of the world's vehicles.

It had been such a radical change that, even if humans were immune, the vehicle companies that made parts for them were doomed to adapt or disappear.

From that moment on, the so-called "Machine Age" began.

In one of the nests placed in a corner, at the back of the Steamworks, was a small locomotive with gray fur and blue eyes.

Next to her, a young tabby crane, with black and yellow scales, was trying to console her about something that seemed to torment her innocent mind.

-Don't worry Ash. I'm sure we'll find a way for you to recover before the ceremony- He said as he brushed the bangs away from the grey engine's teary eyes.

Molly entered the place and her gaze automatically fell on her pup. Seeing her in that state, she ran towards her with an expression of clear concern on her face.

-Oh dear Lady! What happened Kevin?! Has she had another attack?! - The blonde female asked hysterically as she approached her daughter.

Ash suffered from ash syndrome, his boiler was too small and did not work properly.

So if she made any effort it was very likely that she would end up almost unable to breathe. This was quite common. So the pup stayed in the Steamworkd for almost her entire life. Her mother visited her every day, her father whenever he could, but her siblings... They didn't seem to understand Ash's problem, so they almost never visited her or simply made fun of her because of their jealousy.

Even if she tried not to show it, it was evident that Molly showed much more concern for Ashley than for her other pups.

-Not at the moment. Calm down Molly- Kevin said with a calm tone. -But her siblings told her about their training. And not in the best way in fact...-

Molly sighed.

-What am I going to do with them... I'm so sorry, sweetheart, I don't know how to make them understand you... - the blonde female snuggled up next to her daughter and dried her tears.

-I'll leave you alone, okay?- The young crane said as he stepped back.

-Don't worry mom. I know they love me. But they think you don't.- The blue-eyed girl sobbed. -I wouldn't mind if you didn't come here for a few days. Kevin takes great care of me. And my brothers want to be with you too. Not only with dad.-

Molly remained silent for a few moments.

-Well... But we will continue coming to see you.- She said while giving her a loving lick on the cheek.

The young grayish engine rested her head against her mother's chest.

-Mom... Will I ever be normal?-

-What do you mean honey? You're as normal as your brothers- Molly purred.

-I'm not mom. We are the same age and they already run almost all over the island, they accompany you and dad at work and they are with other engines! While I... The only thing I've done since I was born was lay here... -Ash responded with pain in her voice.

An awkward silence formed between the two female engines for a few minutes.

-Don't worry Ash. Victor said you're improving a lot lately.- Molly tried to calm her daughter down a bit. Although it wasn't very effective.

And so the days passed...

The weeks...

The months...

Ashley was finally much better. But that didn't seem to matter... The day of the ceremony was close and Molly had no news from STH about her.

Until one day...

Molly was with Ash again at the Steamworks. Although she wasn't alone this time. Melody, their oldest daughter, was with them too.

-Don't worry sis. I can wait for you if you want.- She smiled.

Ash shook her head.

-Don't worry about me Mel. I appreciate you to worry. But i will be fine-

Suddenly, Victor's deep voice interrupted the conversation.

-Sorry to interrupt girls. But I think you have a visitor. A very important one in fact- He said with a smile.

The engines looked toward the entrance to the Steamworks.

STH was there! Accompanied by a robust and experienced machine with long greenish fur and eyes of the same color.

-Henry? Sir? What brings you here?- Molly asked curiously.

-Victor has informed me of little Ashley's progress these last few months- he said. -I came to ask your permission to assign Henry as her mentor tomorrow.-

The three females gaped. They looked at each other for a few seconds in total surprise. But Melody was the first to speak.

-SAY YES MOM! I WANT ASH TO HAVE HER FIRST LESSON WITH US!! - she said excitedly.

-I don't know, honey. Do you really think she's ready, Victor?- Molly asked.

The garnet male nodded.

-Her health has improved a lot. She's been accompanying Kevin to pick up medicine lately, remember? And at no time in these 4 months she had another attack.-

The blonde female looked at her daughter.

-Do you feel ready Ashley?-

The little girl was still stunned by the news. She barely listened to her mother. She was too busy admiring her possible future mentor. Who gave her a kind smile upon noticing her cute excited gaze.

-Ashley- Her mother gave her a little touch to make her react.

-YES! YES I WANT!!- The blue-eyed engine screeched.

-It's not about whether you want. You must feel prepared. Are you?- Molly repeated in a serious tone.

The pup's answer was the same. Her tail shook frantically with excitement as she hopped around the large green-eyed male. -Hey calm down little one. You don't wanna get worse right before you start- Henry said as he stopped her jumping by gently placing his paw on the young engine's head.

-Then. You have my permission sir.- Molly smiled proudly.

-I'm glad to hear that. Don't worry Molly. I have discussed it with Henry and Victor and she will take a gentler pace than her brothers until she fully recovers. It would be better if you continue spending the night here at the Steamworks at first Ashley- He explained.

Ash looked down with some disappointment.

-Don't worry, you will do the same as them, but not at the same pace. That doesn't make you less useful than your brothers- STH said comforting the young gray-furred engine.

-Alright sir, i will do my best. I promise i won't let you down!- She giggled.

For the Royal AU Twinyard backstory... Maybe Andrew, as a second son, was sent away for study? He could have become an apprentice to a knight or a scholar when he was young, maybe even with the Spears, and that's where Bad Shit Happened. And then he could have returned when he became of age, or when their last parent dies and Aaron needs a familiar (ha!) face around

*excited* okay okay this has been brought up a few times now and every time I read it the idea grows on me more, you’re all so smart for it

(I was gonna put the art at the end but this got a lot longer and sadder than I anticipated so. Sometimes Andrew likes to do stuff like this when they’re stuck talking to important boring dignitaries)

(It’s the main reason Aaron develops an incredible poker face)

Honestly yeah! I do think this is great because I want the twins’ father to be around after birth and for a while, because the whole point of Andrew being sent elsewhere is probably so they can give that extra attention to Aaron and raise him as the heir to the throne. So it’s a perfect balance, in my mind, of a family that cares enough to get Andrew an education/proper upbringing and a father that doesn’t care enough to spend time on a second son.

In my head the Spears would be almost always overbearing, partly because Andrew is the prince and they Do Not want to disappoint the royal family and partly because Andrew is the prince and they immediately assume this little five year old they get on their doorstep is going to be a spoiled brat. Even though he isn’t. And, as you may guess, the only thing they turn a blind eye to is Drake. Drake, their own son, probably the real spoiled brat that gets his way in all things, even with the young prince. Faces no consequences, even when Andrew tries to tell someone. It’s probably his governess or nanny at first (either way, it’s not really important what the role is, just that she’s there). And this woman has been Andrew’s biggest advocate since he arrived, she genuinely cares about and is worried for the little prince with his bruises and fear. She cares enough to bring this up to Duke Spear - maybe he really is dumb enough to just be unaware, she hopes - and confront him about Andrew’s treatment. But of course the duke doesn’t do anything to discipline his son. Instead, the governess is fired and a new woman takes her place, a woman that isn’t as outspoken and won’t ever question the authority of the Spear family. Andrew learns soon enough that trying to tell someone or speak out only makes things worse for himself. Sometimes he still wonders where that first governess is, if she’s doing well.

Meanwhile at the castle, Aaron is going through his own rigorous training. A lot of the same stuff as Andrew is learning, honestly, with a few added duties and lessons and a lot more official meetings he attends with King Minyard. It’s a pretty average upbringing for an heir, I think.

Then maybe when Aaron is around the age of ten or so, King Minyard passes. This wouldn’t normally be a political issue, since it’s expected of the Queen to take over and divide the king’s half of the duties as she sees fit until either she remarries or has an heir become old enough to take the throne, at which time she may pass it to the child or continue to reign until she either passes or is deemed unfit. And, politically, this is exactly what happens. What most don’t see is how grief stricken she becomes and then remains. She can’t pull herself from her grieving, and instead of passing duties to more fitting people, Queen Tilda simply lets young Prince Aaron take on as many duties as he can without breaking down. (Though he has, before. Likely a few times. A kid being pushed past his limit again and again.) Aaron grows up so much faster than he ever should have. He’s thirteen now and sometimes he shakes with stress.

Then the queen finally gives into her grief and passes as well. If it weren’t for Katelyn, Abigail, and Betsy, Aaron might have been next to lose his mind, leaving the throne empty. As things are, Aaron swallows everything down just long enough have word sent to the Spear family. He wants his brother back. A familiar face and his quiet, desperate hope: someone to just help.

And return him they do. Andrew’s been perfectly competent with all his studies, they say, they’d even managed to break that stubborn streak. (They didn’t like he wouldn’t speak or shake hands when instructed. They didn’t like being told no.) And yes, it’s a familiar face. Aaron sees the carriage door open, sees his twin for the first time in eight years, but he isn’t sure he recognizes Andrew. Andrew isn’t supposed to have bags under his eyes like this. Andrew didn’t hold his jaw so tightly. And Andrew certainly didn’t answer questions like some kind of unthinking, unfeeling shell.

The first thing Andrew says to Aaron getting off that carriage is “No.” It’s quiet, but he does say it. Aaron is confused - he’d thought they’d still be allowed to hug each other, or shake hands at least - but he does step back and instead ask if Andrew wants to see his room. He can see Andrew relax.

It might hurt Aaron a little when he watches the Spear boy get a hug with no protest, or how Andrew quietly addresses the duke with more than a one word sentence. But he’s not going to ask about it for a while. He’s the stranger to Andrew here, after all.

(I think Andrew does let him ask. The most he tells Aaron about it - maybe as much as a year later - is that the younger Spear had been much worse at listening than Aaron ever is. It is much better here. At least you and Nicky understand the meaning of ‘no’. Leave it at that. And after that Aaron is even more supportive of Andrew’s wide bubble than he was before. He enforces it himself when he has to. And growing up together for longer, with no looming secrets or much reason for animosity between them - it isn’t Aaron’s fault King Minyard decided to hand Andrew off and the twins are both mature enough even at that age to know it - means the twins are much closer than in canon. I don’t think it would be a typically ‘fond’ relationship, because they’ve both still been through it. But they support each other in all things, no questions asked, and always get through problems together.

It doesn’t take much longer than that first year for Aaron to earn the right to touch Andrew, even if he does need to give or show warning before he does. Andrew never says it, but he’s grateful that Aaron is generous with his shoulder pats. It feels a little like the validation he never got anywhere else. And Aaron never says it, but he’s grateful that Andrew is always at his side to tell people ‘no’ when Aaron is technically not allowed to.)

ok SO, the DFZ Changling trilogy by Rachel Aaron

the story:

Once upon a time, magic returned to the world, along with dragons, magic users, fairies, spirits, and gods

This story takes place in the DFZ, the Detroit Free Zone. The city of Detroit became a sentient free spirit and living city. She builds and holds dominion on her domain, and she has ruled that everyone is free to live their life on her terms within her limits, and she is no longer bound to the United States.

Once upon a time, a changling was left in place of a human girl, however the parents were terrible anyway and once the little girl started showing problems, they dumped her into a psych ward and abandoned her. The little changling girl cried and cried, as at first, she didn't even know she was a changling, only that she was a monster that was being punished. She had fur and claws, sharp teeth, and could barely see, and each day she was abandoned by the nurses, talked about in fear, and forced to hide under the bed from the cruelty of the place. Her only solace was her treasure, a silver thread tied 'round her wrist that only she could see and feel, which connected her to her sister.

One day, a wizard walked into her room and once he placed his hand upon her, he forced back the fur and claws and teeth, and she became a little girl again. She wept in gratitude and was compelled to pledge her service to the wizard, as he had stated she was dying, and the only way to save herself was to pledge herself to him.

Turned out he was an evil blood mage, and for a long time afterward, she was abused and forced to do evil things for him. She was trapped with another kidnapped child, a little boy who the wizard also made do even worse things as he was being groomed to be his apprentice.

One day, many years later, both now adults that were still trapped by the evil wizard - the evil wizard disappeared without a trace.

This was bad as the wizard controlled the pills that kept the changling human and stable. Without them, she turned right back into a monster, and she would rather die than be a monster.

SO - the clock is ticking as they try to find out what the hell is going on, why the fuck some shitty kaiju movie is being advertised on every possible outlet, and what the fuck the evil wizard was scheming.

SO the premise was really good and got me hooked. The main character Lola is really likeable as is the other characters

HOWEVER, the book (listed as Urban Fantasy) couldn't make up it's mind whether it was YA, New Adult, or actual adult Urban Fantasy

like there were some reaaaaaaaaaallly good parts, and some parts where the author peppered in pop culture, and then decided to be stupid YA protagonists.

it got mildly annoying sometimes, especiallyyyyyyyyy towards the 3rd book with Dee and Toothy. Dee had glimmerings of actual character and I wish the author would have developed that more instead of the stupid YA shit.

I wish amazon would just FUCKING SAY if a book was YA or New Adult. I'm sorry, there's a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE between YA, New Adult, and Adult. FUCKING PICK ONE.

But again, the story was so interesting that I skimmed over the annoying parts to get back to the actual story.

I really really loved the slow progression of interaction and growth between Lola and Valente. This was done really well and actually made me gasp a long drawn out gasp in book 3 as they FINALLY connected and said how they felt. Literally gasped like a victorian maiden, so good shit there.

The build up of the overarching story and what the fuck the evil wizard was actually fucking doing was good-ish. The evil fairy was a good antagonist, and Lola's overarching growth as a character and person was good. However the ending felt very rushed and kind of stupid actually after all that build up tbh.

And Valente's ultimate fate seemed like the author reallllllllllllllyyyy wanted him to be the DFZ version of Ghost Rider (which he mostly was to begin with). Which ehhh is cool, but I think it could have been tweaked a bit more? idk

Tbh, Lola's and Valente's relationship was really good and I wish the author had given it more time and room to breathe.

Anyhoo, TL;DR:

These were pretty good and I recommend them if any of this sounded interesting or good to you. They're pretty cheap at $4.99 per book.

I might give the author's other series "Hell for Hire" a shot

“Olivia?” Taeyoung knocked on the door. “Can I come in?”

“Yeah, I’m almost done packing. I just—…” Olivia froze. “You called me by my name. Like my full name. You never do that.”

“Yeah, well…we kinda need to talk.” Taeyoung shut the door behind him. “Aaron—my Aaron—brought to my attention last night that the way you’ve been acting towards me lately is…different than I interpreted it. I just kinda thought you were paying attention to me because we’re chaos buddies and you wanted me to teach you again.”

“Oh no.” Olivia’s entire face flushed. “No, no, no. He told you about my crush, didn’t he?”

“Yeah, he did.” Taeyoung smiled awkwardly.

“NO.” Olivia whined as she sank to the floor. “I wasn’t ready for that yet.”

“Awww, Livvy, it’s okay.” Taeyoung sat beside her.

“Why?” Olivia looked at him so fast she could’ve gotten whiplash. “Do you like me back?”

“Uh, no.” Taeyoung averted eye contact. “For one, I’m too old for you, and also I’m…not interested in people like that anyway.”

“Oh my god, this is so embarrassing.” Olivia buried her face in her knees. “This is stupid. I’m stupid. How ridiculous is it that I was flirting with you all this time when really you just saw me as some dumb kid?”

“That’s not true.” Taeyoung put a hand on her shoulder reassuringly. “I don’t think you’re a dumb kid. You’re really sweet and goofy and fun to be around. And you’re a great chaos apprentice which means a lot to me.” He sighed. “I don’t want you to think I don’t like you, cuz I do. A lot actually. But like in a…non surrogate sibling best friend kinda way.”

Olivia looked at him in confusion. “A what?”

“Listen, T isn’t nearly as sensitive as your brother, but he takes pride in being my number one. He’ll feel a disturbance in the force if I don’t clarify.” Taeyoung rolled his eyes. “The point is, Squirt, I really appreciate our friendship. I mean, you’re like a little me except maybe not as cute.”

“Oh as if.” Olivia nudged him. “I’m way cuter than you when we first met.”

They both laughed.

“So are we good?” Taeyoung asked. “Can we move past this whole crush thing and just be bffs?” He offered a charming smile.

Olivia stared at him for a moment before blushing and giggling. “Okay, I’m sorry.” She caught herself. “That was just a little slip up. I’m totally over it.” She looked back at him. “I’d like that a lot.”

“Okay, good.” Taeyoung sighed with relief. “I was really worried you’d hate me for this. I didn’t wanna lose you.”

Olivia started giggling again, but she stopped. “Sorry again. I’m just—it’s still a little—…” She smiled at him. “If I don’t have a heart attack right now, I really wanna just be friends.”

Taeyoung was quiet for a second. “Are you sure this isn’t gonna be too weird for you? I mean, I can practically hear your heart racing.”

“Shoot, I was trying to get that under control.” Olivia averted eye contact. “Chill out, Livvy, we’re totally over him.”

Taeyoung hesitated. “Well. I guess I’ll leave you alone so you can calm down.” He got up and headed towards the door. “I’ll see you around…eventually.”

Olivia watched him sadly. “Hey, Tae, do you think you can call my brother in here?” She asked with a halfhearted smile. “Just tell him Niagara. It’s a code, he’ll understand.”

“Yeah, sure. Anything for you.” He nodded with a very crooked smile and shut the door behind him. “Hey, Z, code Niagara, whatever that means.”

Z glared at him. “What exactly did you—”

“Babe, we talked about this.” T stood in front of Taeyoung protectively. “You go take care of Olivia.”

Z was quiet as he fought back a growl.

“Aaron.” T narrowed his eyes.

“I’m good.” Z backed off. “We’re good. I’m gonna check on Livvy.” He said before heading into her room.

Taeyoung finally exhaled and dropped to the floor. “That was torture. I don’t ever wanna do that again.”

“That bad, huh?” T asked as he sat beside him.

“I mean she took it well, but then she was still all blushy and giggly and stuff.” Taeyoung frowned. “I could tell she was trying not to make me uncomfortable. It’s making me worried that our friendship won’t be the same after this.”

“Only time will tell.” T shrugged. “But hey. I’m proud of you for clearing this up. I half expected you to chicken out and run away before she woke up.”

“Gee, thanks for the faith.” Taeyoung rolled his eyes. “But also…thanks for helping me with this. I couldn’t have done it without you.”

“Of course, Tae. What are brothers for?” T smiled. “Now let’s get you out of here before Z’s done with her. Code Niagara means “I’m about to cry and I need support”.”

“Oh.” Taeyoung sat up. “Yeah, no. I’m not sticking around for that.” He practically ran to the front door. “Get my stuff, I’m catching the first elevator out of here.”

It's Worldbuilding Time!

The first thing to explain are aura stones. These incredibly rare rocks feel alive and, to the special vision of an aura user, glow as brightly as their own life-force.

(Actually, all evolutionary stones qualify. The reason these work on certain pokemon the way they do is because of aura resonance!)

The rarest of all these stones are known as aura crystals.

The Tree of Beginning is the largest formation of them that still exists, though (according to legends, anyway) Mt. Silver once had a large quantity of them as well, in the days when the Guardians first built their stronghold there. Countless eruptions in ages past had drawn them up from the depths of the Earth.

The Guardians also believed all of these stones and crystals bore traces of Earth's own aura --- the life-force of the planet itself!

Most of the tools used by the Guardians were forged from these special aura crystals found around Mt. Silver. The exact techniques of this craft were always known only to a select few, and even by Sir Aaron's time had mostly been forgotten and lost.

These artifacts share some common traits and abilities, but each one also has some unique characteristics and powers. To start with the common traits, though:

ALL aura crystals can focus, augment, and store aural power, with the size and purity of the crystal directly influencing the functionality. This means every artifact is able to help an aura user cast their own abilities (both offensively and defensively!) and can be used to store excessive aural energy for later use.

This is also why no single artifact is truly "offensive" or "defensive" in nature: Aaron's gloves qualify as armor, first and foremost, but they also allow him to focus his energy into Aura Spheres with great ease. Likewise, Alan's dagger is primarily a weapon, but he often draws upon the power stored within it to put up shields and heal people.

As for Aaron's staff, though... That is a very interesting artifact!

The crystal it bears is both large and practically flawless, allowing it to direct and store massive amounts of aural energy. The metal cage built around it is also made of a special steel that channels power, so the little pieces that dangle off the sides function very similarly to the appendages borne by Riolu and Lucario.

Aaron primarily used it to store energy and cast large shields, but by working closely with the Mew that lives in the Tree of Beginnings he learned of a potential "extra" function that could be performed by the largest, purest crystals: the ability to completely absorb, contain, and preserve a living being.

The first and only time he ever attempted this with his staff was when he wanted to save the life of his dear friend and apprentice, Lucario. At that point, Sir Aaron had already used up most of the energy he'd stored in his staff defending Rota, and knew it would be little help to him on his final mission.

(One final important note: the staff had enough potential for misuse that it was entrusted only to the most trusted individuals... which is one reason the elders decided to let it remain in Rota, where no one fully understood what it was capable of.)

HEADCANONS:

Some of the only times Max feels like he can lay down his self-appointed burdens is when he shifts and goes for a canter. Of course he would never admit that he adores the feeling of the wind in his mane or that sometimes he does a little dance out of joy after a particularly good workout.

Max is a romantic at heart. He loves to watch romcoms and has always dreamed of having a wife like his mom that he can protect and dote on, like his mom and dad.

Max is a light sleeper. He’s always got one ear pricked, one eye cracked, looking for trouble, something to run down and take care of. He’s up at all hours of the night peering out from between the curtains to look down the lamp-lit street.

Music is another way the Max likes to relax. He’s not picky, a bit of jazz, a bit of classic country, a bit of pop, whatever happens to be on. Is he listening to it for pleasure or just to have something to drown out his constantly whirring thoughts.

He loves to read thrillers and mysteries, always trying to figure out the endings before the reveals and see if he guessed right. But watch out! He’ll spoil that shit in two seconds if you ask him about what he’s reading.

We saw the Max doing this often and we had to hit a lot of them and they have a grudge against the states and they think they're doing a number of us they say they're not and we say they're not and they can't figure it out and they can't see us so they're trying to do this with the company stuff. We saved a lot of our people we saw a lot of morlock get hit and a lot of times we'd hit the max even though they're more lock and some of them survived and saw us do it and wanted us to help and we are it's still a big bear it is tough okay his people are decent sized and often very foul but we're trying right now we do have news to announce as I get a slightly straight knee and back and it's not bad and it's not too angry because I kind of pointed out inside of shape a little bit he's kind of mad at Tommy F again the guy is always doing it and he sees it he needs to get the hell out of here so Michael too didn't like it so no you're going to go up there Mike I said yeah if I can get one I'm trying to get one and shut up and start laughing I said why don't you removed from this stupid House of yours so he says no it says I'll probably do that so it's on really but there's other things happening but this is big news

-there are people making fun of our son one of them is Trump and he's doing a dance in his back is bad again and it's really not true I guess it's not making fun of him he's using what he's got to try and help believe it or not his group was like a big huge harlequin group and they figured out then they'd forget and figure it out now he's going to remember and our son says he wants to go to Sarasota and put on the street carnival for Lily he said he's going to do that would you and he said that to Dan the Man about the woman in the dry cleaners and he said no.. and our son says good nobody should. -it's pretty big the max are at the gate and that means that they are trying to get into Florida and these pseudo empire reported it to themselves they heard Aaron on the radio this is what he said then he said I'm sorry but you're a father in the s*** out of me about me telling on them I said not really Mister angles on Ingles on so he started laughing cuz a son saying is an angle for everything so to hear this on the radio and they can hear him saying anything man and angles it really they said that's probably good and they're trying to get in and they're getting in and they're going to get information it's not a bad idea to have him go up there and then he said well I promise you shut up it is quiet and his men were too they're solemn. And we are going now to fight them and we have to and we are going to start doing what we need to do now in a much larger scale especially here they're coming in and they are wrecking our son's little life and he has so little it's not even funny he said he's got his wife and us and he's looking forward to it all so I get that but we're going to try harder and at least get him some creature comforts for his house if he likes those kind of doodads and yeah we saw him in the low desert and he had a good time even though it was her other nightmare all over the place it really was hell it was kind of like this place people were snide and mean and nasty and his shrink was a huge a****** was saying a real stupid stuff most of the time and he was kind of ignoring him and he was kind of saying well that's good stuff like that one day said I've had enough of that crap I said aren't they paying you for a service and he said I'm being hypercritical it says you're certainly doing that and he's threatening it with the hospital so our sun turn around and said well you're fired and you said it like that and Donald Trump started his stupid apprentice s*** started going around firing people and people hated him for it that's how it started in no way is Trump a master of our son anything like that but he kind of was a big dick about everything and he really is hard to bear and the sun set on the radio kind of he said this is real life and you're like not living it you're an actor and you got to pay attention to what you're saying to people it's very serious and then he's just blabbing he said this you're actually right I'm getting in trouble said max want you to and I can barely run my life and you have to run yours so he stopped and said you're right about something that's too harsh and you start thinking about it and he started to try and control it and he found them at every turn and you couldn't stop them and he still can't and he remembers why now and it's a nightmare now he says good everybody who is treated like a clown is going to help people who are hung people who are strangled a lot of women and it's going to come out and our son is noted as saving people and that's what he's doing we do have several moments coming up to announce and we have a lot of announcements things are changing and they're not really that great yet

Chapter 46: Blue Wings

At the Asteria National Research Facility~!, Fly (Iggy's friend who knows Cooro) calls out to a girl named Marca for working hard. She responds by falling over in front of him. He helps her up and tells her that an Anima group of four (our group) has appeared at the northern town of Rock Porter. Marca (who I am just now realizing is the group's stalker whose name I kept insisting on misspelling) dashes off to see them only for Fly to stop her. He tells her that she has work left to do and reminds her of the fact that only did she lose sight of them on Moss Mountain, she had to be saved by military. She's bummed but he tells her that he's glad that he has her for his assistant because she likes Anima so much. Marca happily tells him that she came to the facility after reading Aaron Newt's books and asks Fly why he started researching Anima. He thinks...and flashes back to his childhood with Commander Iggy, bugging him away from sword practice.

Their favorite game was exploring Astar and while doing that, Fly reveals that he directly studied under the aforementioned Aaron Newt. Apparently, everyone thought he was a freak for researching Anima, especially Iggy who lost his grandfather to a bear Anima. Fly points out that researching something isn't based on the good or bad of it, it's making the unknown known. I mean, if you're going to fight something, you'll have to know about it, right? That's why research is important. Anyway, they end up in the slums where they find a kid who's apparently dressed in clothes from a nearby factory (observation skills are important, says Fly). Fly offers to get someone to help her but the kid suddenly sprouts wings while shouting for him not to get anyone. The kids have just found their first real life Anima.

She tries to run off but Fly stops her, saying he can't leave her alone because she's an Anima. This somehow flusters her instead of creeping her out and she joins the two, revealing that she was an apprentice at the factory despite hating it because her family needed the money. She wants to go home...but the two little shits keep following her. Fly points out (appropriately) that she has wings but she won't fly away, probably because she is injured. He also points out that she has what are clearly pigeon wings. The girl herself guesses that it's because there were a lot of pigeons outside the factory. Fly (again, appropriately) that winged Anima, specifically birds, are his favorite because they remind him of angels. Iggy, shitling that he is, disputes that and says that all Anima are just animals. Iggy argues that even gods take the form of animals but Iggy argues not in Asteria.

Fly literally has to tell him not to say bad things in front of her and that he'll hurt her feelings. This somehow shocks Iggy who was literally just manhandling her a while ago, somehow unable to perceive his aggressive tendencies as "mean" even with his prejudice factored out. Fly runs after her and asks her about her Anima which she reveals that she didn't always have. Turns out she was bullied by other kids in the factory and she jumped from the tower and those wings appeared on her. She then jumps off a cliff in front of them and flies, only for Fly to slip off and fall (inappropriately) and her to swoop in and catch him. After she calls him an idiot, Fly decides then and there that he'll research Anima.

She takes them back to her family's house. They think that she want to go back but she tells them she won't. She left for an Apprenticeship. If she goes back empty-handed, that'll make things harder on her mom. She just wanted to see her house one last time. But she'll come back some day...then she flies off. Fly, who's watching, figures out that bird Anima aren't real angels...then what about that girl in Dr. Aaron's lab, Blanca?

In the present, Marca calls Fly out on flashbacking, asking if he was in love with the pigeon girl. He answers that she wasn't his type. What's his type? It's a secret. End of chapter.

Ten more chapters left in the series after this one.
