skip and loafer eps 1-3 thoughts

it's so cuuuute

i did not watch this for a while bc my brain gets so weird about manga adaptations... i get disappointed if it doesn't live up to my (high, sometimes impossible to meet) expectations

this is the first adaptation (or at first least in a while) where i've read the source material super closely so i'm really able to see the similarities. i'm surprised at how closely it seems to adapt from the manga - really the same expressions, same story beats, same art style. overall minimal changes made

i was wondering why mitsumi's va sounded vaguely familiar - but aaah she's the same va as the main character of sound euphonium, yep yep that makes a lot of sense

i like nao's va so far as well

(also i instantly identified yamada's va as the same person who did hinata bc he sounds so distinctive hsjdha. it do make sense his voice just Fits these types of energetic bois so well)

i haven't watched anime in a while so this could be common when it comes to adaptations but it does feel very slow? not in a this-is-bad way, but entire chapters do get spread out a lot when animated, so while it makes sense timing wise, it feels slow since when reading these events passed by much faster

so far there's nothing that has like... super caught my attention? it's a pleasant watch, everyone is adorable and it's a treat to hear everybody voiced but since i enjoy the manga (and it's been so closely adapted) ig i don't feel like i'm getting anything very... new out of it.

in general i'm not as into watching SoL in anime form anyway (historically have preferred to read it) precisely for these it-feels-slow reasons, but i'm glad i gave it a try

i'll probably stop watching it for now, since it hasn't super grabbed my attention. we'll see if i get in the mood again

oh, not specific to the anime, but seeing the scene again where mitsumi decides to just take the panda pin comment the girl made at face value - i really liked that interaction b/c i think a lot of folks fall into that kind of overthinking. i really liked her identifying that.
