Insane to me when ppl criticize a mystery series having mysteries left “unfinished” at the end. Girl, it’s not “unfinished” it’s setting shit up for later, and, as someone joining in on a mystery series, you signed up for that being a possibility.

Whoops I'm making ace attorney characters in the sims again! This time, we're running with the themis crew, Robin, Hugh and Myriam!

Take a look under the cut, we'll be starting with the man, the myth, the 25 year old high schooler, Hugh O'Conner!

As always, we will be starting with day-to-day wear, then going formal, sporty, sleep, party, swim, hot weather, cold weather!

I love this sweater, but I do wish his necklace showed. and that the handful of packs I picked up while they were free came with more chokers. or better yet, that they were in the basegame. Moving on!

I feel like I was really able to nail his formal look, its pretty perfect. as for his sporty look....I know he's an archer, but I don't know hat he'd be super sporty otherwise. If anyone has notes on how to convey his archer-ness better though, please let me know!

According to canon, he wears that necklace constantly, so it is present in his sleepwear! sleepy man. And I think he'd be pretty preppy at parties. I can feel it in my bones.

His hot weather wear and his swimware are about the same, I know, but it just feels right, you know?

Last up, Cold weather! I just know in my soul he'd like sweaters. He deserves sweaters. Next up, Robin!!

I honestly was really happy with how robin turned out, I quite like her just in general. I didn't really vibe with how the game treated her 'twist' but her design is great! more to follow!

I wanted to give her some more masculine clothing items without losing her feminitiy, and I feel really good about how her formal wear acomplishes that. for her sporty-wear, she just strikes me as a track-suit sort of girl! plus, her canon sprite is...kind of already a tracksuit, lol. made designing that one very easy, i'll admit.

I love giving sims bunny slippers. so much. It gives me joy.

I wasn't sure what to do for her party wear until I found this suit-jacket, and it all fell into place. again, very happy with how this lady turned out!

realizing I forgot to give her sleepwear her bracelet. shoot. I'll fix it later.

going very casual for swim and hot weather, but making her cold weather clothes was a delight. very pleased with it.

Next up, Miss Scuttlebutt!

Myriam Scuttlebutt was tricky, I gotta say. She spends most of her time in a box, and when she's out of the box her outfit leans a little heaver obvious school-uniform territory, in a way the sims dosn't make easy to replicate, but I did my best and am happy with the results I think!

I think she's in a stage in her life where she's still figuring out her professional wear, but she's on the right track! girl should keep the top for sure.

Youthful party clothing, If only she would come out of her box long enough for a youthful party. come on girl...

She would absolutely wear big hats to the pool, and that's after being coaxed out of her box. girl would burn!!! very happy with her hot weather look, its a little more formal but not crazy so.

Put your hair down now and then, and bundle up! it's chilly!

i dont think dd wrote apollo poorly that much tbh i just dont think it really utilized him at all. like yeah i have minor gripes. he would be cowering in fear of a spider too along with athena theyre both weanies but like. the main way dd did apollo dirty was that they blew him up and then didnt do much until 5-4/5-5. like i LIKE 5-5 for what it does with apollo i love that he really really does want to trust athena with all his heart but to him everything is pointing at her being guilty. i think a heart and mind struggle is very in character for apollo! also edge apollo is the only time his model looks good so we take those w's

i've started on the last case of aa6 now (dlc notwithstanding) and i have to say on the whole i've found 456 sort of... increasingly sexist in ways that really grate on me. it's not like the original trilogy was perfect, and it certainly had places where it showed its age and/or jokes that i found unbearable and, well, one major and well-beloved character whose entire plotline i found pretty misogynist ...

but the fey family story really ensured that the core plot constantly had a variety of women of different ages and personalities with motivations and relationships relating to each other and the plot, etc. even the basic fact that phoenix's beloved mentor he aspires to be like was a woman meant a lot

many of the games since it feels like they're operating on a sort of one-woman-in-one-woman-out policy. trucy gets tossed aside for athena in aa5 and then in 6 they're both left in the dust. it's especially frustrating in 6 that they're choosing to expand on kurain, canonically in the trilogy a matriarchal village with few men *specifically* because women had more social power... by inventing khurain and introducing a whole host of men in significant roles. then we have a whole sidequest case in 6-4 where athena, the only playable woman, does her irrelevant little sidequest where she dreams of one day being a lawyer as good as miscellaneous men. again it's not that i thought the original games were a major feminist triumph, but i was pleasantly surprised playing them 25 years later and finding them much better than i expected in that regard. now i'm in the newer games and it feels like steps back and more condescension.

also while i don't expect the ending to change my opinion, no spoilers for the rest of aa6 please

So I’m deathly curious about what Shu Takumi’s original plans for Apollo’s backstory were. All we know is that his father is dead from a performance incident and his mother was presumed dead a few years later. But not only that, it seems like although Zak knew she had another child, we also know that Apollo wasn’t with the Gramaryes when Trucy was born. So… what the fuck happened to Apollo 😭 bc I’m thinking like the only logical thing is that Apollo was ALSO in some freak accident and Magnifi once again hid the body but it turned out he was okay. Bc Magnifi was for sure behind Thalassa’s disappearance and reappearance in another country, so something similar must have happened to Apollo?? Did he end up at an orphanage??

I feel like Apollo is the kinda guy to have the craziest environment that he was raised in but he turned out so normal. Like I wouldn’t be surprised if a circus troupe adopted him or smth hfjdwkfhj and he would casually bring up in convos how his adopted mom can swallow knives or smth

From what I know from bits and pieces is that 5/6 rewrote his backstory to have Jove the musician as his dad but that honestly doesn’t make much sense to me. If Apollo had prominent famous musician parents then they would have had that influence onto him in some way, even if it’s only learning a little guitar when he grew up or having a decent ear for music and music theory. But in 4-3 he states that “he should’ve learned to play the guitar” because “there’s not much romance in Chords of Steel.” Not only that but someone with a musical background like that would at least know who the hottest band is at the time 💀 like I loveee musician!Apollo so much but I highly doubt aa4 Apollo has any major connection to music until he met Klavier

This drawing was a lot of fun to draw (expect for when I got jumped scared by a spider that looked rather scary when I was mid-way done the sketch!), from the silly concept that justified these three interacting like this, to finally drawing Trucy! Though I will admit I got a bit lazy with the outfit design's, especially Klavier's as I didn't feel like drawing interesting outfit bottom and just gave him a long skirt :/, but I think Apollo's outfit being so basic really suits him (love Apollo but there's no way he's got style) :3

Also the ice cream colours were picked based off the colour palette of the characters outfits, but in my mind the white with brown bits is choc chip, blue is bubblegum, purple is either grape and pink is boysenberry. Definitely some weird flavours to mix but, to me, both Trucy and Klavier are definitely the type to have weird ice cream combos while Apollo always sticks to one "normal" flavour.

In future, I definitely plan on drawing both Trucy and Klavier with different hairstyles. Especially Klavier, as it does feel weird for him to have the same hairstyle as his brother after the events of case 4-4, which makes me hate his AA5 model even more (it's my least favourite model from DD and the only DD model I generally hate, his eyes especially make me so uncomfortable he looks so uncanny to me!).

As for Trucy I just feel like experimenting with drawing her hair differently. Especially because I thought she had a bob when I first saw her sprite in AJ, so I might just have to draw her with a bob and see if I like it :P

on my way home from the gym i had a really stupid thought of "hey it's been 7/8 years since aa7 so what if capcom reflect that by doing another fucking time skip" i then tried to roll with this bad idea and flesh it out a bit and see what it could look like

so here i present to you my version of the worst ace attorney 7 pitch in da whole wide WORLD !!!

[SPOILERS FOR AA4 AND AA6, NOT REALLY AA5 CAUSE UH NOTHING TO REALLY SPOIL I GUESS LOL?]

come 2024 it will have been 8 years since AA6 so fuck it, 7 years time skip (Again 🙄🙄🙄) to reflect that time

introducing Ace Attorney 7, or Justice & Cykes: Ace Attorneys

Apollo has been in Khurain for the past 7 years restructuring its legal system, meanwhile Phoenix has retired from law to do the same with Edgeworth (who's stayed as Chief Prosecutor) in Japanifornia. He's still acting as a mentor to Thena and is still in charge of the WAA, but doesn't take cases himself any more. Him and Polly don't really keep in touch as much as they should, as both are too busy

maybe Apollo gets homesick tho, or Phoenix offers him his old job back or what, but either way a 31 year old Polly moves back to Japanifornia to be a lawyer there again

case 1 is a tutorial for two reasons:

1) apollo hasn't done law in this country in nearly a decade

B - phoenix has reworked the WHOLE system (i.e. introduced two fun mechanics from GAA)

it should be a simple case, but the problem is that this new system nick introduced fucking baffles polly: why does he now have multiple witnesses on the stand at once? and why is there a jury system? (does this take away from GAAs unique identity? idk)

he solves it btw ofc he does, with help from his professional magician assistant trucy

at the end of the case phoenix calls polly & trucy to his office and tells them they're siblings

cut to case two, where we are focused on an Athena case (possibly set before 7-1? so as to keep the weighty cliffhanger as long as possible). trucy is assistant for this too. fuck it. she's assistant for most/all of the game. trucy deserved better in 5 and 6, capcom.

reintroduction to investigation segments, which remain unchanged. athena, now mid 20s, is a lot more confident and independent, though maybe still needs to ask for help and advice from nick more than she'd like. solves a two day case just fine, even with new prosecutor (maybe Sebastian Debeste? or a rookie who has a similar character arc to us in previous games)

case 3 back to apollo, and him and trucy are probably taking the news itself well but not the fact it took OVER A DECADE FOR NICK TO TELL THEM, and it doesn't help that nick just pins it to him being too busy and forgetting lol

either way a case has come in so the two of them take it to distract themselves but there's gonna be a little awkward tension in the air throughout especially whenever they visit thena and nick

solve it

case 3 back to thena, and her journey of independence & also now dealing with Wright family drama lol

solves case

case 4 back to polly, who's still miffed but is trying to be an adult about it

solves case

case 5 nick is suspected of murder, and trucy is witness so Apollo and Athena work together to solve it, with alternating trial days or maybe one leading investigation and the other court

there'll be a moment where apollo can't help for whatever reason and this is athenas big breakthrough indepdence moment as she solves this bit alone

also guest prosecutor franzy von karma; reveal she was the mentor of previous prosecutor (maybe on the bench with her? why has this not been a thing other than dgs3-3 capcom.)

solves it's not nick or trucy, all of them gain confidence within each other and themselves

game over everyone's happy
