I'm always fascinated by these elaborate and beautiful flash sheets that line the walls of traditional tattoo studios so I wanted to have a go, since I need to study the classics anyway in order to improve my linework.

This took me all week going back and forth pondering over traditional tattooing reference books, looking at tapestries and folk art for the frame, and then positioning everything in a way that made sense and then I still needed to draw the whole thing!

The colorful design are reworkings of very iconic American Traditional designs where I went "but what if it was a silly guy?" The outer layer is just mee freewheeling with what stuck in my head. The flowers have a touch of eastern European folk art as well

Hello guys! I am, due to unpopular demand, back to talk about Muku and Yuki! Or rather I'm just here to show people two important/iconic Muku and Yuki-related songs! + additional images. because i'm like that

Muku and Yuki's lead play song, Amazing Happy Days! , for their play, WONDER RUSH

Dogboy play, dogboy play! WONDER RUSH is Muku and Yuki's first play where Yuki plays the lead and Muku is his co-lead! I love Wonder Rush because it's a very feel-good play when it comes to handling its dogboys.

Aaaa ok ok I'm always still a little nervous about these, but here is my yume Ran Kano! (花野ラン in Japanese)

I still haven’t figured out anything big about her, but here’s some tidbits I HAVE figured out :D

Her surname, 花野 (Kano), has the same kanji as “field of flowers”! I don’t remember how I got to that but I think it fits A3!

She grew up in unnamed hAve A greAt trip! country and only recently moved to Japan. “Ran” is in katakana to sort of reflect that, similar to how Guy does have a kanji but they don’t use it.

She hops from theater to theater, doing show gigs for productions with live orchestras. Like me she plays strings

From my notes: Mankai’s theater can’t support a pit orchestra so based on the occupation her introduction would probably be that she met one of them when they appeared as a guest actor.  But that’s boring and usual I need it to be like “Tasuku tripped and spilled Mello Yello all over her shoes”

I still haven’t figured this part out yet lmao

Like I’ve mentioned before she has a crush on Kazunari but isn’t particularly inclined to do anything about it. Kazu’s feelings on the matter are still unknown

As she is me, she loves and collects merch of whatever A3verse’s version of Barbie is. Her hobby of doll restoration comes from that

I imagine she has a small apartment nearby. Maybe she lives in Haruto’s building or something

She speaks English, Japanese, and Italian fluently bc I’m living my best life through her and I say so. No more forgetting the word for shoes for 3 years (it’s scarpe it’s fucking scarpe)

As for friends and interactions with canon, I have no clue lmao I just know that I want her to get along with my oshis (Yuki and Kazu)

i was casually talking about a3 to someone who doesn’t know a3, and with whom i’m just casually acquittance with, and i casually brought up Hisoka’s songs, and *casually* mentioned it was ruining me, and the guy jumped to the conclusion “yeah he seems soulcrushing, but i get why you’d have a crush” because he knows me by my icon, and i slipped and went “oh no i don’t crush to him at all, i relate to him actually” and then he asked “oh, in what way?” and. Jesus. this casual conversation turned into the most “if i say even one more thing or even mention a bit of Hisoka’s story i’m saying ways too much about myself”, this casual conversation turned into a walking on egg simulator in one fucking instant 😭😭

RIGHT? yuki is not only having fun with his own gender expression but he's actively encouraging others to do the same! his pronoun energy is so potent it's contagious. and on top of that he does struggle with the stigma he faces because of it! hes picked on by his peers and though he puts on a strong face we've seen him break down because of it! but its his passion and he doesnt let that stop him! he has a very meaningful arc about how much he loves fashion and cute things and thats okay <3 meanwhile saioji is um

this man is transphobic lets be fucking real now, look at how he treats the characters who ACTUALLY break gender norms in-universe. hes upholding the patriarchy as strongly as he can, in order to go back to abusing anthy so he can run away from his gay crush on his childhood bestie. saionji is a great character (not a great person), and rgu is an amazing show with a lot of deeply woven themes about gender and gender roles... but lets not forget what he actually stands for here! he has veeeerry warped ideals about gender and what it means, and YES a lot of this (if not all of it) is actively a facade he has to live up to within the ridged patriarchal structure of ohtori. so im not saying he has no pronouns whatsoever but... whatever pronouns he has are absolutely repressed as hell, hidden behind 20 layers of misogyny and toxic masculinity, and they dont hold a candle to a character doing literally the opposite of what he is (embarrassing this difference and sharing it with others!)

but yeah its a bit apples to oranges- utena and a3 are veeeerry different stories. but if you strip away all the meta surrounding either of them and just look at the characters on their faces, you're left with "guy with a passion for cute feminine fashion who actively defies gender norms despite what people say" vs "guy who's so repressed in any possible deviance of gender norms that he plays up machismo to the absolute most toxicly masculine degree possible"

this shouldnt be a contest! But people are going based off popularity... and also all of yuki's iconic looks (that he designed himself!) put that one apron saionji wore to shame
