This one was pure silliness where Ash was tranaferred over from the Pokemon world to the ATLA world. (Also a joint one cause me and some other server members were having a blast!)

At first we offered the thought that Ash only had a few select pokemon. I like the thought that, *this* is his "bender" ability. The ability to casually access all his pokemon no matter what. It helps that we can do that in SV so >:D

This is Pichu-Growlithe Zuko. He’s from a A:TLA Pokémon au idea of mine. Basically it’s just the avatar with Pokémon. Same story just with Pokémon instead of animals. In this au Zuko either dies in the North Pole and the spirits or legendaries or both maybe turn him into a Pokémon because he’s still needed/it’s not his time. And he ends up with the gaang somehow. Which would be really funny because then you have this foot- foot and a half tall mouse-puppy tugging on Aang’s boots trying to drag him somewhere. Or Zuko just like sitting on Aang because “ahah, I’ve caught you now, Avatar”. The Gaang are just really confused and kind of endeared by this little Pokémon who does a really good impression of the fire nation’s pain of a prince. Speaking of, it’s been awhile since they’ve seen him. Maybe he finally gave up. Zuko doesn’t understand why the Avatar doesn’t seem to understand he’s been caught. Well, he’ll just have to hang out on the avatar’s shoulder to show him. Eventually the kid will figure it out and he can figure out how to take him home. He’s already been at it for three years what’s a little more time. Anyways so Zuko ends up starting to realize that everything he thought he knew might be wrong. While the waterbender could be an annoying mother hen, she was a hardworking bender. Her brother, while far more annoying was a decent strategist and he could sympathize with him having a far more talented younger sister. Course he could never understand the peasant’s death wish he had, provoking his sister the way he did. And then they meet Toph and she knows that there is definitely something weird going on with that Pokémon. And that is about all I have on that front.

Or, after he frees Appa (which in this au might be an arcanine altaria because of how big and fluffy arcanines are and altaria is a cloud bird so*shrug*) when he’s having his ‘everything I ever knew may be wrong’ fever the spirits/legendaries turn him into a Pokémon to help him with his sudden morality crisis/life crisis. In this au everything still happens just without Zuko,(mind you it’s been quite awhile since I’ve watched the show, so bear with me plz) well Zuko was there with iroh, but no one besides iroh know it’s him. So instead of Azula playing to Zuko’s desires/weaknesses she talks crap about him and iroh and talks about how her father will be pleased to hear that he’s finally gone. Zuko realizes that no matter what he does he’ll never be what they want, so when Azula shoots lightning at Aang, Zuko doesn’t even hesitate and leaps in front. While pichu-growlithes can take lightning they can’t store it well, so he ends up discharging the lightning and ends up shocking himself and passing out. He wakes up a little later on the fire nation ship. And then everyone kind of learns who he is and it goes from there. That’s as far as I really have with that one, sorry.

Honestly, I think, now that I’ve got this all written out, I like the first one better.

Now onto what a Pichu-Growlithe is: So, as I said earlier, like pichu’s they suck at storing electricity. So when surprised or amused or subjected to shock, they might discharge, but they can’t do that without hurting themselves. They are dual fire electric types. They are loyal and friendly as long as they are treated right, like anyone really. They are quadruped, but are able to scurry up/climb like pichu. They evolve into Pikachu-growlithe with high-friendship. And from there into Raichu-Arcanine with a Firethunder stone.

If I were to go with the North Pole Au, Zuko would evolve into a Pikachu-Growlithe after they face Azula.

So, this was very long and maybe I’ll add onto it later, but now I’m done. 😸

Why I love Allurance and why I also find it problematic.

Shipping is always a fun topic to discuss. By fun I mean a minefield of opinions and vocal opposition that can turn almost any conversation into a battlefield with people willing to die for their ship. Yet I find it fun to see people’s opinion and I love seeing the fan art and fanfiction that people come up for their ship. When it comes to fanfiction or fan art I will support most pairings so long as it’s written well. It doesn’t matter if it’s a crack or feasible pairing, it’s just a matter of whether I enjoyed the presentation. One of my favourite teen titan fics paired Robin with Madame Rouge. With that said I still have my favourites, both canon and non-canon ships. I loved Sokka/Toph in A:TLA, I loved Raven/Robin stories even though I also wanted Robin and Starfire to finally get together, I love Pearl with practically any gem/female character that isn’t Rose and I was so on board for Korra/Asami even before it became canon. It should also be obvious that I’m a strong advocate for watering the Plance on a regular basis. There are also pairings that I didn’t originally go for but that fans have managed to make compelling arguments for them so I now kinda dig it, Like Lance/Keith and Azula/Sokka. Then there are pairings that I like but can’t overlook the problems if they were to become a reality. Ed/Alara in the Orville I think would work really well if it wasn’t for the age gap and the fact Ed is Alara’s superior officer. Pearl/Rose is a minefield of issues, especially after the revelations of “A Single Pale Rose” which I can’t over look even though I love all the fan art and fiction bringing them together. And that brings me to the main pairing of this discussion. Lance and Allura, The cotton candy couple. It’s a pairing that I love but find also problematic. And before anyone asks, this has nothing to do my love of Plance. It is possible to love competing ships as shown by my love of Robin/Starfire, Robin/Raven and Raven/Starfire. Any problems I have with this pairing is purely based on the pairing itself. Also, while it should be obvious, this is just my opinion and in no way an attack on anyone that likes this Pairing. Why do I love it? The two have had some incredibly heart-warming moments together. Some of the best moments of team mates offering each other support has got to be between those too. I still smile when I think of the episode when Lance took over red and Allura took over blue and the scenes the two shared. And with the self doubt the two have had they had have had great moments of supporting each other.

The fan art shipping the two is amazing. Seriously I love seeing works of the cotton candy couple.

They are both serious goofballs and I love it. The only thing I love more than couples being cute together are couples that can be goofy together. Unfortunately we have never had the two being goofy at the same time but it has the potential for a lot of fun.

Their babies would be gorgeous. I know I’m not the only one thinking that.

Why do I find it problematic?

Now to be clear. Calling it problematic is not me calling it sick and wrong, this me saying that despite the love I have for the ship there are issues I have with from a story telling view point.

Firstly, Lance’s infatuation with Allura has been treated as something comedic, both in the story telling and by the other characters. Having it suddenly turned in a serious romance would be somewhat jarring espcially since when Lances girl chasing is treated like a character flaw that he must eventually grow out of, like Hunk’s cowardice and Kieth’s lone wolf antics.

Secondly, the implications of Lance’s constant chasing of Allura finally paying off would be somewhat unfortunate.

Simply put if they did get together this would be another romance where one person was into it from the start and other person had to “come around to the idea” or put another way, be worn down enough to agree to this. Lance started making the moves on Allura literally seconds from meeting her.

Even when it’s clear that Allura and Coran are dealing with the Genocide of their entire race, Lance doesn’t take a step back and think “maybe this isn’t what she needs right now”. This is not meant to be hating on Lance. He is my favourite character and even if his flirty nature irks me sometimes, it’s been established as part of his character which I accept and there certainly have been far worse ladies men in animation. He isn’t Glen Quagmire or even Brock from Pokemon so I’m thankful for small mercies. There have been positive views of his nature since he has not been limited to what is considered hot by human standards most of the time the ladies.

With that said, his initial approach to Allura is pretty much the same approach as he had with almost every pretty lady he comes across. Yes he’s interested from the start but it’s obvious that any initial attraction is purely “She’s hot and I think I have a shot”. I’m not saying that those feelings couldn’t grow into something more serious with time but that’s the point we were starting from and so far we have little evidence saying that he wouldn’t be the same with any other attractive female character if he had as much time with them.

Even if he was solely focused Allura I think it would be problematic. Relationships described as “meant to be and it takes the other party to just realise it” is right up there with “My love will change them” and “Fear of the ‘friend-zone’” for relationship clichés that aren’t just old but somewhat toxic. This idea that “if you get a no from someone the first time just keep trying until you get a yes” is messed up for many reasons and yet prevalent in so many fictional romances.

In so many works the one person chases after the potential love of their life regardless of rejection or competing love interests only to succeed in their quest or to realise the target of their affections was actually worth the effort but are then rewarded by meeting the true love of their life. It doesn’t matter if the works has the chaser never changes and the chased simply sees them for their noble qualities or if the chaser realises they were jerks and become better people. It still comes from the same toxic underlying belief.

With all that said VLD has been good in not giving an exceeding amount of focus on this, even at the start. Also, as Lance has developed, there has been a genuine improvement in his character especially in regards to his flirting. Allura and Lance has a genuine respect for each other and Lance was the one that managed to get Allura to tap into the quintessence of Voltron when the team needed it most. I want to see their comradery develop and grow but it is possible for a male and a female to grow closer with it still remaining platonic and it would be less problematic.

Still, if Lance and Allura did become a couple I would support it and be exceedingly happy for the two but if you were to ask me “Do I think the two should be a couple” my answer would be no.

But give me fan art or AU fics pairing the two and I will eat it up like literal Cotton Candy.

Fandoms or Originals: Fandoms - specifically Naruto 

What I’m Looking For:

1) Style: I'm really only interested in roleplaying prose style, 3rd person, past-tense. My length varies, but almost guaranteed that I can match whatever length you throw at me - I prefer quality to quantity, but sometimes in order to have the former you have to have the latter, and sometimes quality means getting to the point.

2) Responses: How fast you get a response depends on what day of the week it is, how long the responses are, how much we're talking and plotting, and how hype I am for the roleplay. That said, if we're getting along and we seem to mesh in terms of roleplaying style I have no doubt that I can keep up with most people. I do hold a job, though, and occasionally go out! Let's say that I'm comfortable committing a response a few times a week, but it could be a lot more or a lot less depending on every other factor we have.

3) Limits: Sexual content is acceptable if you're 18+. Absolutely no excessive gore, please!

4) Expectations: Okay if we're being real, I would love to incorporate multiple love interests for each of our ocs sort of like a reverse harem, or love square (pentagon, even), or even otome-like scenario. I will double with as many canons for you as you roleplay for me. If we get comfortable and have multiple roleplays running, then sometimes this may vary and that's fine. If I have as many as I want and you want more, chances are I'll do that as well. 

This means that yes I double, triple, quadruple, etc etc etc. My own character relationships will be het - I'm happy to double with f//. I'd prefer to stray away from m// if at all possible. That said, if you are my writing soul-mate in every other aspect, I won't turn you away if that's what you seek. 

I can also double with canon x canon pairings you're craving as long as they don't infringe on my pairings, haha. Or I can roleplay dude ocs as well. Or male characters from other fandoms.

5) Worlds: I actually enjoy the canon Naruto setting, but I feel like there are so many episodes, and I'm not near caught up (I do know the bulk of what happens, though, and I don't mind spoilers). So I'd prefer AU - whether that's a minor AU and we just change the story, but it stays in the original world, or we throw them into another fandom setting or an original setting is entirely up for discussion. 

I love fantasy (of many kinds - although I have one in particular I'm craving), action, romance, drama, slice-of-life, adventure, video game and mystery settings. However I'd like to avoid horror and extreme gore. It's just not my thing. 

I have tons of ideas, so no need to fret in that department. 

6) Canons: I have stipulations about how I want my canons played. I most crave Sasuke Uchiha and Itachi Uchiha. If we have more canons than 2 (which is my preference), then I also really enjoy Shisui Uchiha - and after that I enjoy Neji Hyuuga and Minato Namikaze as well as some others - like Kakashi, Shikamaru, Haku, Kimimaro, Deidara, Sasori, Tobirama, Iruka... etc. 

The only ones I WILL not play are the first three mentioned. I will literally double with anybody else you like, even if they are on my list (unless I am really craving them for a specific setting). I have stipulations for Itachi and Shisui - because I want them played how they were (Shisui has room to be developed) before shit went down with the Uchiha clan. I'm not interested in mute assassin Itachi, if that alleviates any stress in playing him. Shisui I also have loose ideas for. Think flirty goof.

I have the most experience playing Kakashi, Naruto, Shikamaru, Zabuza, Tobi, Gaara, Kiba and Yamato. I have also played Iruka, Haku, Kankuro, Kabuto, Choji, Lee, and Deidara. If that matters to you - like I said I'm willing to play almost anybody from this series. If I'm not super-familiar with them I will have you explain them and do my research. 

7) Other fandoms I know: (I may be able to play canons from them to double with, or we can just use the settings): Persona (3&4), Avatar: The Last Airbender, Your Lie in April, Ouran High School Host Club (I can play like any canon from this), Fruits Basket, Saint Tail, Cardcaptors, Sailor Moon, Yona of the Dawn, SAO, Inuyasha, Pokemon, Kamisama Kiss... I know lots, but that's all that's coming to mind at the moment. Feel free to inquire.

Craving: A:TLA, Persona, or Saint Tail setting with the Naruto canons and our ocs. Or maybe Kamisama Kiss, YotD, or YLiA?

I love school settings. And fantasy settings (modern, high, medieval). I think a prestigious musical and arts school would be awesome. I enjoy taboo relationships (within reason) in fiction as well as moderate age-gaps - though none of these are necessary. I do enjoy incorporating some Japanese culture (like HS is 3 years not 4, and the suffixes are nice if you know how to use them) in these. It's less necessary in fantasy settings. 

I also have miscellaneous ideas. I'm an idea-generator. 

8) Other concerns: I more or less don't mind Mary-Sues (as long as they don't interfere with my characters). Pretty much all the characters from Naruto are ninja gods, so I totally get why we may need hyper incredible people to keep up with them. Even in normal settings, the genius of some of these characters is awe-inspiring. So no worries there, just try to be flexible. 

I would like to have an ongoing OOC chat with my partners! This helps motivate me to post and it's helpful for plotting and such. I can use skype, line, discord, steam - whatever is easiest for you. If not, then I guess we can have an OOC doc or something.

I like to be in charge of my own oc and the canons I want played for me. At least to some degree - and I expect input on how you want the canons you're asking for to interact with yours. My goal is to make you fangirl (or boy, or... just fan in general, whatever you identify as). I want you to have that goal as well!

Rules: List 10 favorite characters from 10 different fandoms.

1. It’s very difficult for me to choose only one fave from Haikyuu, but I guess if I had to choose, it would be Oikawa (surprise surprise). He’s an incredibly complex and human character, and you don’t usually find in fiction a character who feels so realistic. I could talk about him for hours and hours, but I guess this isn’t the best place to.

2. From Yuri on Ice, I think I choose Viktor. I’m also very fond of Leo. In both cases, I don’t think they got enough development since the anime focused on other characters more (I don’t mean to say they don’t have any character development, but for me to truly like a character, I need a lot of details and a lot of time to get to know them. Seriously. A LOT.). But I love how Viktor seems to be this imposing man, a living legend with a dark secret behind, and in the end he’s just... a huge adorable dork. He just wants some love, that’s all.

3. Since I’ve been in the Pokemon fandom for many years, I’ve had time to develop a million fictional crushes, so it’s difficult to choose here as well. But in hindsight, the character who has influenced me the most and the one I’ve had a crush on again and again has been Steven Stone. I just love that rich dork so much.

4. Zuko from a:tla. Perfect character development.

5. I have many faves in FMA, but Riza and Olivier/Olivia Armstrong are 10/10.

6. My fave from TRC will always be Fai. It’s a mix of “I really identify with him” and “he deserves so much better but life is so unfair to him”. And everyone knows how much I love characters who suffer (as long as they get their happy ending).

7. Now that I mention TRC, I also have to mention xxxHolic: I love Watanuki’s development. Sadly, I could only understand his character once I reread xxxHolic as an adult.

8. My fave from Hetalia has always been Russia. He’s made of pain, though.

9. I’m not sure why, but I really feel a connection with Rin from Free! Maybe it’s because of his competitiveness? I don’t know.

10. Definitely identify a lot with Kusakabe from Doukyuusei.
