My roman empire is that people forget that Feyre was attracted to Rhys IMMEDIATELY, before she saw anything good in him. In ACOFAS, she admits she wanted him even UTM. In other words, she saw him at his CoN-est, was in love with Tam, and still couldn't help herself. So, she and Rhys don't have such a complicated, ambivalent relationship for so long because Rhys is morally grey. They have a complicated relationship because Feyre doesn't know how to rationalize caring about someone who's so morally grey. ACOMAF isn't about Feyre suddenly thinking Rhys is a saint. ACOMAF is about her coming to accept and respect Rhys because, after her own experiences UTM, she identifies with and understands his moral ambiguity. Whether or not she and Rhys are equally morally dubious is a different conversation, but basically, accepting and loving Rhys is also Feyre loving and accepting herself.

Rhys would rather have Feyre hate him than fear him. He was obsessed with her before he loved her, before he wanted her, because she was never afraid of him. In ACOMAF, Rhys isn't just angry at Tamlin because of how Tam treats Feyre, he's enraged because Tamlin made Feyre, the woman who throws bone spears at evil fae queens and tells the most powerful high Lord in history to go fuck himself on a near-daily basis, scared that Tamlin will blow up his study again.

"I'm not apologizing because it won't change how you feel" is also just... not how apologizing works? The power in apologizing is that you're putting yourself in a vulnerable position by admitting you were wrong DESPITE the fact that it might not change anything. Insinuating that an apology is only valuable if it can magically fix everything is super emotionally immature.
Don't get me wrong, Rhys basically telling Tamlin kys is also a terrible way to respond, especially given that Tamlin is heavily implied to be sui*idal here. But people who latch on to Rhys's response to call him immature/cruel/spiteful/ungrateful for Tamlin's help in ACOWAR also often don't acknowledge that Rhys is understandably, viscerally angry and frustrated here. It isn't consistent to show other flawed characters like Tamlin or Nesta grace for their quiestionable actions and then categorically condemn Rhys when he fucks up. If you forgive Nesta for threatening to kill Feyre in a moment of anger, you gotta give Rhys this one (and he also acknowledges afterward that he shouldn't have said it).
Rhysand's Visit to Spring
During Acofas, when Rhysand went to Tamlin's, I was really hoping we'd see more about what happened between their families... But I was so disappointed with what we got. Like it's just so tragic.
This is what happened, through Rhysand's (the one who lost his innocent mother and sister) eyes. And a little of how he felt from that book alone.
Tumblr media
Tamlin had given his father and brother information on where Rhysand's mother and sister would be meeting him, hence betraying his friend.
When it was found that Rhysand wasn't there, they killed the mother and sister, who weren't even trained to defend themselves, when that wasn't the plan, while Tamlin did nothing.
They cut off their wings and heads, they floated the heads down the river that would lead to Windhaven, and took the wings.
RHYSAND RECEIVED THE HEADS OF HIS MOTHER AND SISTER IN A BOX. like that's so fucked up.
And in no point in this did Tamlin say anything about this, if he was tortured for information, why didn't he say anything to Rhys? Cause if that had been the case I am 100% sure Tamlin would be groveled to Rhysand almost instantly all those years ago, saying he was tortured and he tried his best to not give them up. If he did fight for the helpless females he "accidentally" condemned, why didn't he say anything? Say that he tried to change his father's mind but he couldn't.
Tumblr media
This just made my blood boil on top of everything... You mean to tell me... After Tamlin got Rhysand's mother and sister killed, accident or not, in 400+ years he didn't even say sorry? Like huh?
"I didn't think one would make a difference, anyway" WHAT DO YOU MEAN!?! Like you got innocent people killed and you're like "well sorry can't really make it better for their only living family so I won't even try" like that's so bad on so many levels.

enjoy my brain rambles (18+ MDNI)
idk the last time i did a theory/full lore post on anything since 17 year old me played mystic messenger in 2017 (IN FUCKING PHYSICS!!!!!) but for some reason 14 days with you has been on the forefront of my brain for over a year so. also it's so funny how not into yandere games/dark romance i was years ago but the moment i started college and started reading shit like ACOTAR (not dark romance but like... y'know... rhys...) i am like damn... what if someone was THAT into me me... (this does not include haunting adeline i fucking hate that book)
anyways sorry for the ramble!!!! some fun stuff i have found in the last idk few days of perusing old stuff, new stuff, etc.
also, a lot of hints i've found have been followed up by "👀". this is not the case with everything but just a lil tidbit i noticed! :)
The official 14DWY blog is @14dayswithyou
edit: put 18+ mdni in title because the game is 18+! should have mentioned that LOL
Ren's name!
I have been super interested in finding out his name, which i will send guesses sometime to the ask box when i have more as to not spoil anything if i'm right. BUT, i can share everything i have collected! i do know we will know more about him in day 7 possibly but i want to hopefully give some help if anyone wants to guess like me!
(Not In Name) ❌ - T, D, Z, S
(In The Name) ✅ - N, R, A, E
does not begin with - E, R, B, A, P
does not end with - N, L, Y
extras ⁃ 8 letters (could be more) ⁃ not traditionally masculine ⁃ american ⁃ emerald has three letters (E, A, R are my guesses) ⁃ clarence (two letters right spot) ⁃ emerson (one letter right spot) ⁃ marienne (one letter right spot) ⁃ his sister called him ren
so, with this in mind i have a few ideas. it seems the letter "R" is in the fourth position in his name. the letter "E" seems to be at the end of his name. i believe his name may be unisex or possibly more typically feminine, but he was named by his mother after her two friends (which i believe are Teo's relatives). some guesses about the name i have are: i believe his name may begin with an L or F, but this is just a guess i have but i do not believe it begins with a C. either "ren" is in his name altogether or another variation such as rien. but! this is just a theory (matpat... thank u).
some extras:
_ _ _ r _ _ _ e
edit: upon some scrolling before bed i am starting to believe their name may end in “rence” or “riene”. will update but that’s where i’m landing right now.
edit 2: may ALSO end in renie!
2. Ren's hands!
so we know ren has scarred hands from an accident prior to the events of the game before he ran from home. i don't know exactly what caused the scarring, but i believe it was some kind of altercation with his father from the sounds of it. it was said that ren left his mom in absolute hysterics when he left, so i believe there are a few things that could have happened.
i don't know if ren's father would hurt his mother but let's assume he wouldn't, maybe ren was presenting more masculine, talking back to his father, becoming a "threat" towards taylor, who knows! whatever happened, ren got into an altercation with taylor that ended in the scarring. I believe it has something to do with fire, taylor may have been set of fire somehow. maybe taylor wanted to burn the house down. OR, maybe ren tried to burn the house down with taylor in it...
it's possible that taylor may have tried to harm ren's mother that he attempted to save his mom and burn his father/harm his father. whatever happened, hana was not present for this as i believe this is when ren ran away from home IF this is how it happened.
maybe what happened to his hands was much longer before he left. i've seen some questioning that when leon had a birthday party, he invited hana but she did not go for reasons unknown. what this could mean is that something happened WHEN hana still lived there before she was sent off to school. maybe this was when ren got the scars on his hands. maybe taylor tried to harm ren due to him simply being male, maybe it was something else. maybe ren fought back. maybe taylor tried to hurt ren's mother, causing him to be punished by his father. all i know is, ren in an ask has said “I-I didn’t mean to… He— I didn’t have much of a choice…”
3. Playlist!
a while ago, saint put out this playlist and explained that characters and endings are connected to the songs. from other's guesses and my own curiosity, i went through and did some eliminations and found these to be the most possible to be connected:
shapeshift - ren
almost had me - violet
glimpse of us - leon
angel - ending
god complex - ending (possibly leon)
EDIT: gun - ending (most likely bad)
heart-shaped hologram - EDIT: I believe this is ren's introspection now
these could be inaccurate! but from what i have seen i think these are the best guesses for some of the songs. maybe i'll try to guess more in depth, but for now, this is just from what i've read up! 14 days also has the potential to be an ending, but once again this may be another post.
conclusion
i am so out of my mind. but it is so fun to evaluate lore i have always loved doing it and this game itched my brain. i reccommend this game if you're interested in horror and are 18+ then i say check out this game! read the warnings ahead of time, but i find it funky fresh
anyways womp womp, redacted come home, emo boy by ayesha erotica lookin' ass

People saying Gwyn and Az could not possibly be sexually compatible given Gwyn's past and because SJM once said in an interview that Az is "kinky" are forgetting a few things.
First, SJM hadn't even written the next ACOTAR book at that time. An offhand comment made to her friend while joking around is not the same thing as SJM sitting down, preparing to write the book and seeing where her character takes her, what feels like a fit for their personality, so basing what you think you know of Az off that is a reach.
Second, and this is not to sound snarky, but are those people confused on the meaning of kink? Kink is really anything outside of that which is considered vanilla, Rhys having sex with Feyre inside their minds would be considered kink.
There's a great big world of kink out there and the above is just a small list.
Do you know what's listed under M in the link?
M Is for Melolagnia
Melolagnia is a fetish that involves being turned on by music. This doesn’t simply mean having a go-to Spotify playlist when you have sex, but rather experiencing strong sexual reactions in response to music and also fantasizing about certain songs or genres. The arousal can derive from a combination of the musical elements including the singer’s voice
Do I think that's what SJM was referring to when she said Az was kinky? Probably not especially because that's considered a fetish more than a kink but she did address Az and Gwyn being singers so maybe that's his thing.
The point is we don't know what she meant by that comment, it could be any of a long list of things.
For all we know, Az himself likes being tied up as a way to take back his powerlessness while in the dungeon, a chance to control the narrative of what happened to him all those years ago.
The list of what she meant when she said that he was kinky is endless but I think some automatically assume Az is into whips and chains and there's nothing to suggest that. I think some fixate on him having the biggest wingspan, being "too much for Gwyn" while forgetting Feyre said that jokingly to Rhys with Rhys later remarking he was about to show the world who actually had the biggest wingspan.
Some try to elevate Az to some unholy sex god who could never be right for someone's official first time while ignoring what we actually know of Az.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For all that Az does to his enemies, think of how he is with the females he's around. He's gentle with Elain right? Gentle when he felt Feyre's wings. He has always been disturbed by the treatment his mother received and his treatment of women greatly contrasts that of how he acts with his enemies. For all we know, Az's kink is being a submissive.
But even if he isn't, we've got actual evidence proving Az would have no problem being gentle with Gwyn if that's what Gwyn wanted. Pairing her off with a random high lord she's never met because some assume he'd be better suited for her in the bedroom is???? I don't even know what to call that. Just because someone seems like a nice guy doesn't mean he's the same behind closed doors with a partner.
Lastly, why are people convinced that Elain would be into whatever Az's kink is? Elain slept with Graysen, her fiance a month before they were to be wed. To me that shows she was only willing to have an intimate relationship with him once they were prepared to make a lifelong commitment to one another. Also, wouldn't the better storyline for Elain be proving she's got no problems handling her mates fire?
Tumblr media
Nearly kissing Az is not the same as sleeping with him so it seems a lot of assumptions are being made about both Elain and Gwyn in order to twist the outcome of a specific ship (surprise, surprise).

what are your thoughts on the dynamics of the archeron family
Short answer: A lot of boundaries are blurred, and both Feyre and Nesta were parentified, leaving all of them struggling to understand how to be sisters to one another.
Their journeys in the books are directed toward three main goals: healing a wound caused by their mother, fulfilling an aspiration from their father, and reassessing their feelings and roles towards each other. Interestingly, their mates provide them with what they always longed for from their father.
While both Papa Archie and Mama Archie failed their daughters, Mama Archie emerges as the biggest villain throughout the books.
The idea of the books ending with their mother's vision fulfilled—having all her daughters stay together—is scream-inducing, considering she is the most toxic person in the series.
In contrast, their father's hope for them is much more positive and meaningful, as they work towards building a better world—a vision that began with him urging Feyre to leave.
Long answer:
When I see their mother, it's on sight.
Feyre and Nesta have said nothing good about their mother. Yet, their father seemed to love her unconditionally, and when she passed, compounded by a series of unfortunate events, he was unable to provide and be the parent his daughters needed.
A hard lesson someone might never fully learn is that parents are just like their children—human, flawed, and burdened with their own unhealed traumas and poor coping mechanisms. The concept of mental health awareness was nonexistent then. Many people have suffered and died, yet the five stages of grief were only published in 1969.
While Papa Archie should have done x, y, and z, and should have been the parent he ought to be, the story began precisely because he didn’t. There would be no ACOTAR if Feyre had not learned to hunt and provide for her family.
Moreover, there would also be no ACOTAR if Papa Archie had told Feyre to obey the promise made to her mother. I headcanon that he was either glamoured or his mind was heavily altered because the Papa Archie in the cottage and the Papa Archie in the manor upon her return seemed completely different.
“Feyre,” my father said. His fingers trembled as he grasped my gloved hands, but his eyes became clearer and bolder than I’d seen them in years. “You were always too good for here, Feyre. Too good for us, too good for everyone.” He squeezed my hands. “If you ever escape, ever convince them that you’ve paid the debt, don’t return.” I hadn’t expected a heart-wrenching good-bye, but I hadn’t imagined this, either. “Don’t ever come back,” my father said, releasing my hands to shake me by the shoulders. “Feyre.” He stumbled over my name, his throat bobbing. “You go somewhere new—and you make a name for yourself.”
It's not about what you did then, it's about what you'll change now. I've seen the criticisms about how he didn't do enough, how performative bringing the fleet was, and so on. But consider what Papa Archie was going through: the love of his life died from a disease, they had been in debt for at least three generations, and the answer to their money woes sank. He had three beautiful daughters entering society, where dowries were crucial—Nesta received her first proposal at fourteen. He was then beaten by his creditors until his knee broke. So not only was he physically incapacitated, but his reputation also suffered, making it impossible to gather funds.
I would give Papa Archie some grace for not being able to be the parent his daughters needed. However, I see no redemption for their mother.
Feyre's journey involved learning to prioritize her own needs over being the family caretaker. Nesta's journey involved unlearning toxic patterns and channeling her energy into something that gives her a sense of purpose. Elain’s journey, considering she was described as her mother's doll and urgently needed a match before her beauty faded, hints at what her story will entail.
It’s interesting that their father’s aspirations in the first book seem to weave into their stories and are reflected in their mates.
He told Feyre to make a name for herself, which she did as the Cursebreaker and the first High Lady in centuries. Her mate, Rhysand, provides her with the support and partnership she always needed.
He told Feyre, when she asked him to intervene in Nesta marrying Isaac, that if it was love, he couldn’t talk sense into her. I really love this quote from him:
“We need hope as much as we need bread and meat,” he interrupted, his eyes clear for a rare moment. “We need hope, or else we cannot endure. So let her keep this hope, Feyre. Let her imagine a better life. A better world.”
Nesta's mate, Cassian, loves her unconditionally, especially during times when she feels undeserving of such love. Despite Nesta's deep-seated hatred for her father and his actions, his death impacts her profoundly. Despite all her resentment toward him, she is faced with the reflection of his love for her. Cassian doesn't see Nesta as flawed; rather, he sees someone who hasn't yet learned where to direct her strength and passion.
It's not surprising at all that the mate of Papa Archie's beloved daughter, his princess, is someone who can genuinely attest to his goodness and deep love for his daughters. This affirmation comes after he undertakes the quest of finding Vassa, a mission directly influenced by Elain's vision. It reflects Papa Archie's attentiveness to Elain's thoughts and desires, showcasing her father's ability to listen to her and include her in his plans and aspirations for the future.
Now, for the sisters themselves.
The dynamics between the sisters are evolving as they confront their long-held resentments towards each other, stemming from the failures of their parents.
This process is particularly evident with Elain in SF, where her arc seems poised to explore her transition from being perceived as just a "doll" to becoming someone whom their father treated as more than that. Elain's unresolved conflict with Nesta over the dread trove suggests that her book may delve deeply into this aspect, especially given the significance of the mask in HOFAS. Ember's parting words to Nesta about finding her own path resonate strongly, particularly in the context of Nesta's identity as Elain's protector.
Feyre's relationship with Elain appears more ambivalent, characterized by a sense of companionship rather than a deep bond. This sentiment is echoed in Rhys's criticisms about how Elain is treated, as seen in the bonus chapter.
Rhys raised a point that Elain might be afraid of disappointing Feyre, and it prompts speculation about its meaning. Could it be that Elain fears disappointing Feyre by rejecting the bond? However, considering it's Elain's bond, this interpretation seems perplexing. Alternatively, Elain may be aware that accepting the bond with Lucien could mean eventually leaving the Night Court, given Lucien's status as an heir. Such a decision might further fracture the notion of the sisters staying together, adding to Elain's apprehension about disappointing Feyre.
While Feyre and Nesta seem to have healed and strengthened their relationship, it remains unclear how Elain perceives her sisters and their protective tendencies towards her.
Their mother's toxic notion of them staying together contrasts sharply with their father's hope for them to create a better world, a dream for which he ultimately sacrificed his life. This suggests that staying together doesn't necessarily mean living under the same roof, and that sibling relationships can flourish when each member has their own pursuits.
Lastly, the deliberate withholding of their parents' names raises questions. Perhaps SJM is saving the revelation for a pivotal moment, similar to the unveiling of Aelin's identity in TOG.
I used to meme that SJM just doesn't provide names and yet in TOG, it shows just how much weight she actually gives them.
This could indicate that revealing their identities holds significant narrative weight and may contain spoilers crucial to the story's progression.
Thanks for asking!

i have had this idea in my head, and i’m pretty sure someone has already thought of it, but just imagine a High Far that’s like a bajillion years old and they have a Gen Z™️ kid
like the fae is part of the Royal Court and they have an affair with someone in the mortal realm and, boom now there’s a kid - except it’s set in, today basically
eventually the Fae finds out and decides it’s time to try and be a parent, but the kid is a teen now and it’s grown up on vine, insta, Wattpad and tiktok so they have the Gen Z humour
and so we go through the typical plots: training arc, high lords (shoutout to ACOTAR) (i don’t support the author - #freepalestine), mates, etc
Parent Fae: “and this is [weird fantasy fae name], Prince of Wherever”
Kid: “why is he looking at me like that?”
Random Prince: “We’re mates”
Kid: “…am I in a fucking Wattpad book rn? I thought you were fae not a werewolf”
and
Parent Fae: “it’s necessary for you to train. it’s the only way for you to survive”
Kid: “bold of you to assume i want to live”
and because they’re gen z, they’re gonna be chaotic obvs
Kid: “have you ever heard of the omegaverse?”
Parent Fae: “…the what?”
i just think this idea’s funny
