How would Talon!Dick react to someone using magic to pretend to be Jason? Like a shape shifter looking and acting like Jason? 🦉

Violence. Straight up violence.

I reckon Dick would be able to suss out imposters very easily due to the fact that him and Jason still mainly communicate with bird sounds, especially as a form of greetings and reassurance of the other’s presence. And while it might be comparably easy to take someone else’s form, the shapeshifter/magic user would have a much harder time imitating that special kind of language. Or actually I reckon they wouldn’t manage at all.

And Jason is good at bird sounds. Insanely good, to a point where even Dick wouldn’t know the difference between a true talon and Jason if they didn’t have their special call signs.

So even if the imposter knew about the bird sounds, just one wrong or slightly off hoot would be able to tip Dick off that that’s not his owlet.

And that’s enough for him to switch straight to burning fury. Mostly out of the deep seated terror that whatever stole Jason’s face may have hurt him to do so. 🦉

Actually thinking about it a bit, and I admit that I did need to check the wiki because my memory is faulty, the only instance of resurrection magic being done was with Vex...and it was Kash who did it.

(we all know the reason it worked was because of Vax, but Kash started the ritual.)

Pike said at the time that she'd never done resurrection magic before.

Wouldn't it be...appropriate, or at the very least, interesting, if the first time she does it successfully is on the one person who's been shown to do it before?

Maybe I'm grasping at straws because I don't want Kash to be gone (because he gets a happy ending in stream and it feels so WEIRD, this particular change). But Pike has thrown away her holy symbol, has started to realize the power of her blood (whatever that may mean at this point, we still don't know), has successfully used her vestige through faith in herself.

Pike bringing back Kash as her first successful resurrection, setting in place that it can be done and that she can do it, could be a good way to set up bringing Percy back. Because we know he's not gonna stay dead, but resurrection magic isn't completely established in TLOVM the way it was in stream (thanks to dnd mechanics). Grog's death by sword soul swallowing was cut. Scanlan isn't dead (yet), he's not gonna be able to be used as a test subject here. Using resurrection magic on the many faceless and nameless dead won't have as much of a story impact.

But bringing Kash back could.

So maybe that's why he had to go down. To set up how Percy can come back, by bringing him back first.

Was thinking about eleven year old Fawn Spots Harry and made myself laugh because he would be so angry that technology doesn’t work at Hogwarts.

Full on “What do you mean Olympus has cell service and the middle of Scotland doesn’t?! It’s not even the same plane of fucking existence and calls aren’t even long distance!” Little man has not been more than a phone call away from his family since he was adopted and he is not coping well, but beyond that the lack of online databases, easy way to compile notes and write the eight million essays they’re assigned, and actual entertainment that isn’t ’dangerous flying dodgeball’ (which he does love tbh but still not everyone does) would drive him up the wall. Fuck the lack of things like highlighters and binders would piss him off. 

He would show up with a spiral notebook and a mechanical pencil and a pureblood child would pass out from shock. He writes his family constantly begging for any and all stationary they can send. He uses breaks to type up last term’s notes and introduces the first final study guide in Times New Roman into Hogwarts and makes a killing off of selling them. The older pureblood students beg on bended knee for help making their own and the muggleborns realize oh shit they can corner the market per year and subject. Harry will drag Hogwarts into the modern age if he has to do so kicking and screaming.

mmmm not sure! like idk if id put them in a full normal life au where theres just different human races and no magic, or one where there could b magic elements still. its modern thats for sure. but i dont know to which extent there could be even dungeons on that context or how would they work. maybe it could be considered cave exploring but spicier (its pretty much that anyways). i made marcille a med student while falin n laios stay unemployed and degreeless. thats my extent on worldbuilding in this au
