right now I kinda feel like I've just gone through an entire season of character development in the span of like a week. I'm very tired, physically and emotionally (I also just cleaned my whole bathroom at 1am, because sometimes when you're already on a streak of dealing with difficult/unpleasant/tiring stuff it's easiest to just keep knocking out more of those things while you've at least got that momentum) but at the same time I feel weirdly powerful and fulfilled as a person right now. the sigh-and-flop-onto-the couch-with-my-phone I just did felt a lot more earned than it has in a while

Heya, pals!! :D Since Super Mario has now been demoted to a minor hyperfixation in replacement of Ace Attorney, I'm gonna post some Luigi headcanons that have been GNAWING on my mind for the past 3 years I've had this hyperfixation. Without further ado, LETSA GO!!! :3 (btw heres credits to the dividers i used here.)

Appearance ⭐:

I don't usually give appearance headcanons, but as you have seen in a few posts of mine, I gave him freckles! Not sure why tho, I just feel like it would suit Luigi.

I got inspired by a crap ton of long-haired Luigi (and by proxy, Mr. L) headcanons and fanart so that's one more to add to my list of headcanons.

As for markings, I headcanon him to have a lot of scars. Specifically on his arms, ranging from his fingertips to his elbows from using his thunderhand ability, being REALLY clumsy, and other stuff I won't mention. There are a few more scars on his legs and torso from either work-related accidents, or accidentally getting scratched up in adventures with Mario. (also top surgery scars but i'll explain that later shush)

Hobbies 🖌️:

A portion of Luigi's hobbies came from him trying to be just like brother, Mario, but Luigi is his own person too, so he has many hobbies to call his own. Just like many other fellas in the Mario community, the Luigi in my AU LOVES engineering (specifically mechanical engineering). Besides that, I think he would love baking with Princess Peach!

I feel like he's the better cook between him and his brother, so in their spare time, he teaches Mario how to cook! Yeah, sometimes the food comes out a tiinnnnyy bit burnt, but hey! At least Mario tried his best! Of course, Luigi knows that, so he gives a tiny pat on Mario's back for not completely burning the food into a crisp.

His other favorite thing to do with Mario is to play videogames!

I often find Luigi to be more ambiverted, (or maybe extroverted but very socially awkward??? idk just me projecting tho lolz qwq) however HEAVILY leaning on to the introverted side.

From what I've seen he is a HUGE sweetie pie, even if he canonically gets shitted on by like, 80% of the Mario NPCs.

I feel like since some of the fandom represents him as a hopeless romantic, he enjoys listening to love songs the most.

For some reason, I headcanon him listening to love songs that blink-182 makes lol. (to be specific, this song. its a total banger pls listen to it!!)

hair color.  does not have hair follicles but his antennae are black

(sidenote: quirrel remembers literally none of this, if you asked him any of these questions he’d have no idea except stuff that could logically be deduced from his species. he doesn’t remember his family at all)

character’s theme song. doesn’t have one in-game, unless you count the archives theme (literally just ambient bubbling and spooky noises) or uumuu’s boss theme aka decisive battle (which is a general boss theme and isn’t unique to uumuu). i think uhhhh wait fuck i lied. closest thing we have is this, which is the city of tears indoors theme but is best known for playing in the scene where you sit on a bench with quirrel

mental illnesses. depression, some degree of anxiety, general dissociative problems, you know the deal. autism isn’t a mental illness but uuuuuh i’m gonna mention it anyway, i’m autistic so no matter what if i’m roleplaying a character they’re gonna end up with some autism in them. he’s got some issues with grief but like he doesn’t have a diagnosis and i don’t know what that would be anyway

self-confidence level. low! very low! he knows he’s old and he can’t remember much about being monomon’s assistant so he doesn’t have much going for him, in his eyes. his (implied) death at blue lake kinda gives you a look into that

So uhhh

First and foremost, I have made mistakes because I don't know what to say. Which I guess is a big part of my neurodivergency.

I have many thoughts but I almost need to have permission granted in order to share them. Logically, I know I am allowed to and that I can just say things, but I need someone to specify that.

For example, recently my friend announced that they're non-binary and they said their new name. They announced this to the group and everyone started calling them by their new name. However, I specifically wasn't told to do that, so even though I thought that I should too, I simply avoided addressing them because of that uncertainty. I needed to ask if that was what they wanted me to do so that they specifically gave me that permission and initiative to do.

Another thing is getting annoyed by seemingly okay things. To me, everything has a specific way it should be done and any deviation from it makes me feel uncomfortable, so much so, that sometimes I'll end up having a full on meltdown and crying about it.

For example, mugs! Don't put your mug on the edge of the counter because they might fall! My friend always laughs at me for this because he has a tendency to just put mugs where it's most convenient for him (usually near the edge of the table) and I'll always move it away from the edge. Oftentimes, I don't even realise I'm doing it- my brain just subconsciously fixes what by it's standards is wrong.

Sensory overload is pretty commonly known. Everything is too loud and too bright and it just hurts and is annoying.

I think I had more but I've forgotten halfway through so... :)

Omg I had a similar situation like that, a girl I know recently came out as trans but because she's been closeted for so long and only a few people know I didn't know if I should start referring to her by her name because she's come out properly now (Though I have signed her deed poll and I've been explicitly told how to refer to her)

I don't really have the deviation thing because I don't ever have any plans or set ways of doing things. The only things I can think of like that is when I shower I do that in a specific way, and doing the dishes. Like it's kind of stupid how annoyed/frustrated I get when I find dishes that were supposed to be done in the second load of washing I did. But those are the only things that really bug me like that

The sensory thing is one of the main reasons that I started contemplating autism though, because I get so overwhelmed by the simplest of things. Like I cannot stand the sound of people eating, the chewing sound drives me up the wall (I also have a 7 year old brother who doesn't eat with his mouth shut and it frustrated me a lot). Also like being around people, I love being around people a lot but then their 'quirks' just frustrate me to no end. I mentioned it earlier today but hair absolutely drives me insane, I hate the feeling of wet hair against my scalp, I hate the feeling of brushing my hair, I hate the feeling of just hair against my scalp. It's also the same with bra's but idk if that's a dysphoria thing. And there's so much more stuff that I'd describe as sensory overload but I would literally be here forever

i hate seeing ads on youtube for a lot of things but im especially sick of the previews for the god damn series from The Creator Of House about the guy who's good at being a doctor but he's an immature self-centered jackass incapable of any emotional regulation he's autistic!!!

like look i never really was Into house but i mean i get that it was there to be reliably dramatic like, here's some possibly shock-factor weird medical scenario, rule out boring stuff, have a fancy idea, find out some new twist info abt the patient, condition worsens, have a few twists to discover the real thing, then end with teaching the patient to value themself or else to feel terrible b/c they deserved it or some third thing. like, sure. but its definitely extremely annoying that it sort of kicked off a trend of gloomy white guy protagonists who meet that "He's Good At His Job.............But He's An Asshole" role. as though being needlessly rude to everyone around you doesnt make you bad at what you do and is also justified in this concept of "Smart(tm) people are allowed to be mean to the point that their being mean is proof that they are smart, because they are constantly irritated and hampered by the clueless shitheadedness of those around them"

oh god this made me go off on a mental tangent about shemlork. god nobody wants that. it makes me forget i'd like read thru all the sh stories before the guy ritchie movies came out, which are a much truer adaptation anyhow and look at the completely different way in which they chose to exaggerate how the Genius protagonist relates to other ppl. god

anyhow i respect that house is entertaining and stuff but i dont think i can ever watch it coz i hate that trope. the idea that some guy can demonstrate his superiority by being petulant and snarky w/o consequence coz since he's a dude that doesnt make him a Total Bitch it makes him cool. and completely insulated self-assured impulsivity based on the first emotional response that enters your head = also uhhh, being driven, and knowing your brain is always the right one to the point that anyone else is superfluous, because you're a genius and a man and not Bitches Be Shopping. and that one dude is Wise enough to tolerate him b/c he knows that he gets results dammit! and everything else he does thats blatantly out of line for any human towards another human, much less a doctor towards colleagues or patients, is just the price you have to pay for him to figure out its the bubonic plague mixed with an allergic reaction to scrubbing bubbles

so now we get "what if this guy is good at his job but he has autism", and of course everyone with an ounce of sense and decency should know that's not a "but", except that we get a lovely reminder that in this year of 2017 a general tv audience (and tv producers/executives) think it needs a But. and since its autism, it's gonna be a feel-good show. look how well he does wow!! and in this show its not just him being a Good Doctor(c) because he chooses not to let his autism affect him just as all people should do when they arent nt or are disabled, this is being taken a step further and he's a good doctor Because he's autistic. coz thats what autism should be ideally, either Suppressed or hidden away or else the idea of it being a magical superhero that lets its bearer be acceptable into regular society for normal good people but, more importantly, lets the person use their Power to aid allistic people!! a happy ending all around

like in the horror genre where anyone implied to have any kind of generic mashup of a mental disorder or something is either A Monster or a burden to the team until the team discovers that this person who was previously regarded as "useless and we should just leave them behind to die so they dont hurt our own chances of survival" actually has a flawless superhuman ability that is directly related to helping them escape whatever situation theyre trapped in!! point them at the problem and we'll get to live!!!!! maybe they'll live til the end too, or maybe they'll have to be left behind or prove they have feelings too by nobly sacrificing themself for the rest of the group, who are now sad because they just learned that person's life has value too after all!!! :'(

anyways, tldr, ugh. this is a shitty foundation for anything and a shitty reminder how ppl see autism. ppl with autism having different strengths and talents than any particular allistic person isn't some kind of "novelty" and god knows ppl only like that idea if its one that happens to seem "useful" to them. the idea that its secretly a superpower and autistic people see the world in some mystically different way b/c thats how autism works is shit. i am just so annoyed. fuck off

P.S. again it is funny that people love to describe someone w autism as like "having the _______ of a __ yr old", despite that being meaningless and inaccurate, because they think that being autistic = just being an allistic person but lagging behind, becoz you know who Actually fits the description of "an allistic person who apparently has never spent a moment developing certain social skills?" they also shouldntve thrown in any mention of will graham in hannibal being autistic or whatever. seeing as he has a Magic Ability. like actually magic. there doesnt need to be any mention of autism especially as its never given any actual relevance to anything in the series. if its just being Representation is that truly the best? i wouldn't say that character or any other couldn't be autistic. but the fact that its a character with a Magic Ability / social isolation and virtually no characters on tv are mentioned in the show to be autistic unless to explain their magicalness / social weirdness!! means its not a great movie & even if it was just meant to be "progressive" or whatever independent of those factors( it wasnt) they shouldntve done it. the optics, man

final note: you know who's a good example of the sherlock holmes type observational genius / guy who doesnt fit in with his associates in his line of work coz he operates outside their rules, man? shawn spencer from psych. he doesnt treat his partner gus as beneath him or a hindrance ever coz he's not? he's essential to their success and shawn never even implies to have Superior Faculties than him. he just notices things. that one classic line of "i can notice things too, shawn. and i dont have to make this face *narrows eyes, furrows brow for several seconds* when i do it." and shawn kind of annoys the cops and everyone else and they have to Tolerate Him coz he gets results and he's allowed to be immature and also impulsive but thats not at all related to His Genius being a god given excuse to do whatever he wants at the expense of any others who happen to be in his path. he's just being zany
