"Now, what exactly is 'The Marvelous Mechanical Harlequin' AU?"

Well I'm glad you asked! The Marvelous Mechanical Harlequin, or "Harlequin AU" for short, is a grimdark sci-fantasy story about "Puppets", whom are soul-infused robots, trying to regain their lost humanity in a broken world.

It follows Pomni, a short-tempered Combat Harlequin, as she explores the city of Circuits with the aid of Caine, The Puppetmaster.

However, as the story progresses, Pomni not only realizes that there's more to the grand scheme of things as she explores more and more, she also uncovers The Puppetmaster's story, and what secrets he may be hiding.

"How do the boss fights go down in the story?"

Action-packed, fast paced, involves a lot of dying on Pomni's part.

Even though this is inspired by a Souls-like, the boss fights go down more so like a mixture between Cuphead, Shadow of the Colossus, and God of War (2018/Raganarok). Mostly God of War.

"Are there going to be canon ships in this AU?"

Yes! The AU is very Showtime (Caine x Pomni) centric, and some of the story aspects of the AU are heavily surrounded on that. There is a bit of Jesterdoll (Pomni x Ragatha) in it, too.

Aside from these canon ships, all is fair game. The Puppets don't have ages seeing as to how they are robots (and were already adults prior to their conversion), so the possibilities are endless.

"Can I make fanarts/fanfics/make original content for your AU?"

Why, of course you can! In fact, I would REALLY love to see it, as long as it complies with my personal boundaries below. So don't be afraid to tag this blog, or @iamespecter in your posts if you want me to see it!

Go wild! The AU's rating is pretty mature, if it wasn't obvious already for it's grimdark genre.

you can lightly flirt with him, but he will not reciprocate. if you flirt with him in a more overt or sexual manner, or compliment his current appearance, he will not respond well.

don’t send him things depicting fire or explosions, especially if he’s the one on fire/blowing up, without warning him first.

you can bring it up, but he doesn’t like to think too much about the crash or about pills.

don’t describe ways that the pain could be worse or call his attention to the pain, as this causes him to fixate on these scenarios / struggle to ignore the existing pain.

The QSMP is looking for smaller English-speaking streamers, so I figured I'd take the time to introduce qsmpblr to none other than Eric "Condi" Condifiction!!

Condi is an English-speaking Canadian who's a part of Just Roll With It (JRWI), the absurdly powerful dnd podcast he runs with his friends Bizly, Grizzly, and Slimecicle!! He plays several characters across their multiple campaigns, along with DM'ing his own campaign of Apotheosis. He plays/played Jay Ferin for Riptide, Rolan Deep for Blood in the Bayou, Sylnan Vengolor for Fated, Flynn Gustwind for Convergence, and Vyncent Sol for Prime Defenders. (plus something im probably forgetting whoops anyway)

He is insanely talented at rp and improv, with some of the more infamous and my favorite examples being episodes 53, 100, and 101 in JRWI: Riptide. The way he plays Jay Ferin is emotionally devastating and incredible, and she's genuinely brought me to tears multiple times. Though he plays his absolute heart out with every character he makes, she's just a neat example of his range and talent. Looking at the differences between Jay, the Navy's daughter, and someone like Rolan Deep, a lawyer returning to his hometown of Galloway to experience The Horrors™ is just wild man. Not to even mention everything he does with Vyncent and his multiple different characters inside him; along with everything he made for his own campaign of Apotheosis.

Something something charlie slimecicle calls him "God Gamer Condifiction." He's really good at video games dude I have no way to talk about this he just is its really scary honestly. On one of his more recent streams he went live playing Only Up! and he beat it in one go without any major setbacks, fast enough to refund the game and get all the money he spent on it back. Just for context.

He also has a background in minecraft roleplay specifically!! He was part of the SCU (Slimecicle Cinematic Universe) where he roleplayed several different characters. God!Condi and 100Days!Condi being the more defined ones. Everything he did in the SCU was nearly pure unscripted improv and incredibly impressive, and I highly recommend you go through and watch it!! (I go into detail on how to get into it on this post)

He doesn't just have background in the roleplay aspects of minecraft though, he was also briefly on SMPEarth and is skilled at regular minecraft too. He mainly strives at the roleplay aspects, but again the whole God Gamer Condifiction thing so ^_^

Overall I just really need my dnd guy to be in my favorite minecraft server so he can make so many SCU references with Charlie Slimecicle, then emotionally devastate us through the roleplay aspect. Now I'm curious to know all the "candies" between Nick and Tay 👀 lol I don't ship them but I also find it interesting that some fans really ship real people together and gather evidence or proof of it. If its fine with you to share it pls do 🙏 but if not its also fine :)

Huh...

Actually, sure! I kinda wanted to share some of these at times but again I understand that rps is a complicated subject.

A couple of quick prefaces though:

1, If you’re uncomfortable with the subject, again, please don’t read under the post

2, I don’t have all the candies because I really just view them in passing, so I’m just gonna write/translate the ones I’ve seen, remember and find at least a logical speculation

3, I need to reiterate this in case my position in this gets misunderstood: Me writing about “candies” isn’t because these are MY opinion or things *I* found or *I* believe in them being evidence. I am just a translator and messenger.

4, (this one is gonna sound a little academic lol) Two things I realized when thinking about this “candy eating” culture is that Chinese people have a very difference understanding of platonic/romantic affection/relationships with the Western world, and that they look at the candies with rose-tinted glass. Chinese/Asian people are generally a lot less affectionate with their personal relationships, for example friends wouldn’t say “love you” to each other if they’re just friends, nor would they expand their friend group to the others easily or other stuff. And these people who look for candy go into their “investigation” already with the belief that “they are together”, everything remotely resembling a close relationship will automatically be interpreted as romantic. I thought about it a lot, and honestly among the “candies” I’ve seen, most of them are a matter of interpretation: yes those are things couples will do, but it wouldn’t be weird if friends did it too. So they’re not that seriously or up for further speculation. There is I think only one “candy” that I can’t quite say the same, which I will explain and elaborate on in this post. 

5, Please remember that the people who do this do it in good nature: something I didn’t make clear in my post yesterday, which is on me, is that the fans do want them to be together, but they’re not like… yandere level or something. If they’re just friends the fans won’t be upset or betrayed or anything, they just prefer to see them as romantic. They don’t mean any harm, and they don’t cause any harm because China is physically and digitally too far away for them to actually fuck shit up, and they understand the lines of parasocial relationships: those who met with Taylor during his China trip in December know to, and didn’t bring up this in front of him. They know where to draw the line, and whoever doesn’t and starts becoming a problem gets kicked out of the community. This is meant for fun.

6, Ok Future Meraki here, turns out, there’s a lot to translate, a lot more than I anticipated Jesus Christ and I do want to get this post how within today and make it a reasonable length, so I’m just gonna do two events and the one that I mentioned in 4. If yall want a part 2 let me know.

Ok with that being said, the main event under the cut:

In December they made a whole article about “candies” from December, and to quickly summarise (again noted that all of this is speculation, I didn’t and can’t fact check them, and I’m just a translator) (also this ended up way longer than I anticipated so for photo reference if you can please go to the link of the original article):

Academy Gala:

Nick and Taylor both attended the gala: Since the strike ended up to that point, the two times Nick attends a public event, Taylor’s there too (GQ men of the year and Academy Gala), and for both times he’s wearing Cartier’s Tank Must Watch (remember this watch, I’m gonna elaborate on it later because it is the only candy that even I can’t say it’s a matter of interpretation)

In various pictures of the night’s party that other people took, the boys can be seen together in the background

How the photography worked that night was magazine photographers wandered around the venue and randomly found people to take some relatively candid photos: so people who were walking/sitting/in any way sticking together would be photographed together. So best friends and married couples would be photographed together, which is what happened to Meryl Streep, Greta Gerwig, Saoirse Ronan, and Christopher Nolan, Cillian Murphy and their wives. With that logic, Taylor and Nick were caught by the photographer together TWICE, in clearly different places. Later Korean fans (with the same “candy-searching” mindset) read the time on Taylor’s watch in the photos: one was 8:30, one was 9:50. The implication is that they were together for at least that period of time (nearly 1.5 hours)

In both photos of the boys together, Nick’s elbow is…straight up leaning into Taylor's chest. In a photo with Kaia, Nick’s friend and co-star from Bottoms (Brittany), there’s visible space between Nick and Kaia but none between Nick and Taylor (… okay I’m gonna pop in with my own opinion on the latter one real quick: I really think that one is just Nick being a gentleman)  

During that night, Taylor re-posted an Instagram post from July onto Little Red Book: but the things is in the comment section of the original Instagram post, Taylor teasingly pretends to not know Nick; and according to the posting time and the time calculated in 3, Nick would have been watching him post that to Little Red Book.

Nick got a photo with Taylor’s friend Jay Ellis (Jay and Taylor follow each other on Instagram, and Taylor comments under Jay’s post), even though Nick and Jay don’t seem to have any direct connections. Kaia and Taylor started following each other on Instagram after the event.

While other people who got photos with Taylor posted them, in Taylor’s Instagram Post for the night: He only included his photo with Nick, the rest are all solo portraits of himself. Not only that: he edited the background of the photo so it’s just them, and proceeded to put the photo in the middle of the post.

a bunch of Taylor's good friends, including Taylor’s cousin went to like Nick’s post for the academy gala night. Taylor’s sister Ash shared Taylor’s post to her stories: 2 photos of Taylor himself, and the one photo of Taylor and Nick. Taylor mentioned in a past interview if he had any emotional or relationship (I don’t know which one is the right translation, the original wording is 感情) issues, he would talk to Ash. (please note that I didn’t not and don’t know how to fact-check any of the things mentioned above except for Ash’s Instagram)

Conclusion/ Speculation (okay the academy gala part alone took me 40 minutes what the fuck): I cannot reiterate this enough: THIS IS JUST SPECULATION DO NOT TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY but under the assumption that Taylor and Nick are a thing, the serious of shenanigans that happened that night, especially with the family and friends stuff in 6,7,8, was interpreted as they announcing it to their personal social circle. AGAIN THIS IS SPECUALTION DON’T TAKE THIS SERIOSULY 

Taylor’s China Trip

On 7th December, Taylor had a photo shoot at the GQ gala venue, but spent the rest of the afternoon taking photos and signing things for fans. Among those, one was the photo of him and Nick from the academy gala just three days ago. He was visibly extra happy and showed off the photo to the crowd, unlike the other photos which he simply gets it, signs it, and then gives it back.

This day was also the start of “Taylor giving Nick/Henry a moustache”: throughout the trip, he drew on four photos of the two of them

(This one is a … really big stretch) among the four, one of them was the GQ magazine shoot, and he first drew the moustache on Nick’s face, giggling “I’ll sign on Nick’s face”, signed his own signature, then just when he was about to give the magazine back he suddenly changed his mind and said “wait wait I wanna do something on my face”, and then drew a crown on his head while muttering “crown prince”. And the thing is… historically, George Villers had a moustache. And then he drew a moustache on Nick and a crown on himself. Also, one of the most popular Chinese RWRB fic on AO3 is called “The King’s Palace”, and the premise is putting Henry in George place as the social climber and the Duke of Buckingham (it is literally George’s character with blonde hair and a different name), and Alex as the crown prince who ascended to the throne and is also utterly infatuated with Henry. So… yeah.

When he drew the fourth photo, which was the piano scene, the fan who asked said “Oh you’re so nice to Nick!” and according to their description (there’s no video), Taylor blushed a little and said “yeaahhhhh” with a big grin

While Taylor was in China people were stirring shit up on Twitter about him, and during the Twitter drama, Nick liked Taylor’s Academy Gala post.

The boys liked the same video on Instagram but from different accounts (a video about a pony in the snow)

During the trip, Taylor was seen wearing a white button-up with blue stripes. Nick has been seen wearing a shirt that looks identical before.

Cartier Watch (aka the one that makes me do a double take)

Taylor used to wear a lot of Cartier watches until he started wearing Tagheuer last July due to a commercial partnership

Nick likes wearing Omega watches. In fact, Henry’s watch in the movie is Nick’s own omega watch. He also has a commercial partnership with Omega.

But then starting last year, both of them were seen wearing matching Cartier’s Tank Must Watches (the silver on with a black surface and a sapphire crown): Taylor can be seen wearing it in the 5th photos of his September post, while Nick can be seen wearing it during the GQ gala, the Academy Gala, in Milan during fan interactions, and last weekend in his TIOY co-star’s Instagram story.

In an empty theatre, teardrops echo like the sound of applause.

All I do is lay down a bet~ It’s out of my control if my opponent decides to lay down their life, isn’t it?

After the chaos, not much was left of Sigonia-IV, yet there were two malnourished children-- Kakavasha and his Big Sis, nearly perishing from the elements on the ruined planet.

One day, there was finally salvation in the form of a light-- a light, and a beautiful woman dressed in elegant clothing peering down at them under a wide-brimmed hat.

She told them that they would be safe, that they could trust her-- and what other option did they have? She looked so different, and seemed so kind compared to the others that have mistreated them... Big Sis had been willing to give her a chance.

And so, Kakavasha was whisked away to another world, offered clean clothes and a room of his own. He fell asleep immediately, curling up on the soft carpet of the floor.

When he awoke, his Big Sis wasn't there. But they said she would be. They told him she would be. So he wanders through the strange building against his better judgement.

It wasn't long before he heard muffled words coming from the ajar door of a bright room. He snuck over to peek into the room and he saw people dressed in simplistic black clothing, taking notes on some sort of devices and huddled around a bed.

And on the bed lay the body of his dead sister. But those people would never acknowledge her as such; to them she was only an experiment. One of the last Sigonians of the Avgin race, a miraculous discovery. And they weren't going to tell him. They were going to hide it from him.

Blinded by the emotions swirling around inside of him, Kakavasha threw himself through the doorway, grabbing the first sharp tool in sight, and ended the lives of all the professionals in that wretched room one by one.

He'd cried the whole time. He couldn't identify the emotion the tears stemmed from-- whether from sadness at the loss of his sister, or from the rage burning bright-- but as the boy stood there, he dropped his weapon, wrapping his arms around himself in horror...

He didn't feel guilty for what he'd done.

That sort of control-- the ability to watch the life of another mortal slip away between his fingers and know that he was the cause...

It was empowering.

Response to the hunger rp-starter! (Btw I love your hunger prompts you should totally do some more 🤭)

I’d take this little predicament you’re in as the perfect opportunity to listen to your tummy rumble. Since you don’t plan on filling it anytime soon, I’ve got all the time in the world to listen to it complain. I’d pull you into my lap and turn the volume on the movie down so I can hear your tummy better, and I’d keep both hands on it so I can feel the growls vibrate against my hands. I’d poke and prod at it a little when it gets quiet, we don’t want this perfect serenade to end, do we? If the movie ends and you’re ready for a snack, I’d tell you no. Maybe, if you ask politely, you can have a few popcorn kernels, I’ve already emptied most of the bowl by now anyways. I’d listen to your hollow gut continue to beg all night, and as a reward for letting me indulge in your angry tummy, I’ll make a nice breakfast for you. Something light and easy so it doesn’t get upset again. Maybe even keeping you a *little* hungry so I can hear that belly yell at me again 🤭

I get up, intent on confining myself to the bedroom while you enjoy the movie. You grab my wrist, gently tugging me back to the couch.

"C'mere." You murmur, pulling me onto your lap until I'm seated between your legs. I watch your hand deftly lower the volume on the T.V., relegating it to ambient noise rather than the main feature of tonight.

"Babe--y-you like this movie though." I protest, wincing as my tummy snarls in the throws of a painful hunger pang.

"I love this a lot more." You whisper breathlessly, hands roaming over the oversized sweater I have on. Eventually, your hands snake their way under my sweater to make contact with my sensitive stomach.

My stomach roars, your massaging hands stimulating my organs and stirring up the hunger pangs. I can't help but wince and moan in your lap, squirming whenever a particularly painful cramp assaults my tummy.

After twenty minutes, I realize that this bout of hunger pangs has gone on far longer than any that I've had all day. Usually, the cramping eases after fifteen minutes and the growls only ever sound for about ten minutes. It's been over twenty minutes of griping, churning, and growling without any signs of easing up. On the contrary--the growls have only gotten louder and more frequent. The gnawing chasm-like feeling in my guts has only grown too--like a yawning maw or something.

"Babe!" I hiss, realizing what you've been up to as your left hand massages small circles in a line across my torso--just beneath my diaphragm. Your right hand rests firmly over my navel, a finger lodged deep into it and swirling occasionally, nudging at my sensitive intestines every time a hunger pang rolls through them. I don't have to see your face to know that you're grinning now that I've caught on to your little game.

You've been stimulating my digestive tract on purpose--left hand searching for and stimulating my pyloric valve while your right coaxes the hunger cramps into forming. It's no wonder the hunger hasn't ebbed, but only gotten more intense while sitting in your lap.

You turn up the volume on the movie as I squirm in your lap. I'm getting flustered as I realize that you're playing coy on purpose. Sighing, I lean back against you to try and at least appear unbothered by what's going on. I watch the movie, same as you, but my mind is 100% on the sensations in my abdomen. Your massaging hands slow down just a tad as your attention becomes split between the movie and what's going on beneath your palms. For the whole two hours, you keep massaging my stomach--pressing deeper whenever the growls get too quiet. Each time you press a bit too hard causes me to gasp, introducing more air into my system and creating more growl-fodder as it gets mixed into my guts by your massaging hands. Your right hand occasionally moves from where it's firmly planted over my navel to pinch and prod all over my lower belly. By the end of the movie, my intestines are thoroughly sore from all the pinching and prodding and my upper digestive tract feels like mince-meat from the firm massaging and pinching it has endured over the last two hours.

An ear-splitting growl punctuates the movie just as the credits begin to roll, tapering off only as the screen becomes covered in text.

"Nnngh…ooohhh…" I moan, squirming as what feels like a 7.0 on the Richter scale quakes across my digestive system--the epicentre somewhere around my stomach-organ.

I try to get up but your hands wrap firmly around my belly.

"Nnngh…b-babe…lemme up. 'm gonna…gonna find an apple or something 'cuz I'm not gonna be able to sleep with my stomach this active and empty." I mutter with a pout. You nuzzle against my neck, arms tightening around my noisy belly.

"Hm? No." You murmur against my neck.

"Babe--please! My stomach hurts!" Another loud rumbling shakes my digestive tract and I know for a fact that you had to have felt that one too. "See? I'm hungry and it's gonna wreck itself if I don't give it a little something. Water? Tea? Please, babe--I know tomorrow's a day off, but I really want to get at least some sleep tonight after the week I've had."

You shake the bowl of what was once popcorn at me suggestively. I look down into it and scoff.

"I'm not gonna swallow kernels, love. Popcorn in any form upsets my tummy on a good day and the whole point of fasting was to enjoy freedom from a week of indigestion." I tell you firmly, crossing my arms over my chest even as my stomach continues to snarl.

"Fine. Tea, then." You relent, letting me out of your hold.

I scurry off to the kitchen, quickly chugging a bottle of water from the fridge in hopes of quelling the gnawing ache in my guts enough to not be a distraction. The cold water trickling into it must anger my tummy because the cramps and grumbles it causes make me regret chugging the water straight from the fridge.

I bustle around the kitchen, setting the electric kettle to boil as I open the cabinets to hunt down a mug and to decide on which tea to brew. I settle on Ti Kwan Yin and put three scoops into a large French Press. You'd probably kick up a fuss if I tried using anything with berry or chocolate additives. Granted, I don't like those types as much as Chinese-style teas--but you'd probably nit-pick if I came back with something resembling hot chocolate or juice rather than leaf-water.

Once the water is ready, I rinse the leaves with a splash before letting the tea infuse in the next pouring, leaving the plunger on the French Press up to allow the leaves to dance in the water for a while as I select a mug from the cabinet. The creaking of our bedroom door lets me know that you've abandoned the living room and are waiting for me in the bedroom now. With you no longer watching me, I debate eating that apple. You'd probably be upset with me if I did. I know that you're already going to do your best to keep me up all night--endlessly entertained by your game of keeping my stomach in a constant state of 'hungry-and-noisy'. You'd probably do even worse to me if I put anything solid in my stomach so I refrain from eating that apple.

I do opt to chug a mug of the tea (adding cold water to cool it down faster) before I bring a refilled French Press of tea and two full mugs into the bedroom. Chinese-style tea isn't your favourite, but I'd feel rude for not at least offering you the second mug. Odds are that all of it will end up in my belly which is fine by me if it quells the gnawing, achy hunger pangs.

You've already rearranged our bed into a bit of a nest, patting my side of the bed suggestively. I set the items on the night-table and slide into bed, my stomach sloshing and letting out a watery rumble as the ice cold water and the lukewarm tea slosh about inside.

Before I'm even settled, you're already pawing at my stomach, pressing into it and sloshing at it. You're already using my stomach as a pillow as I finally get settled.

"Aw…do you hear the ocean, babe?" I tease as my stomach lets out a loud, watery burble right into your ear.

You spend all night alternating between dozing on my stomach and prodding at it. Shockingly, I manage to doze off for a couple of hours in spurts throughout the night. I wake whenever a particularly painful hunger pang quakes through my belly, often caused by your incessant poking, prodding, and sloshing of my tummy. Midway through the night, you wake me to have me chug the two mugs of now-cold tea and I manage to get through half of what's in the French Press as well before a sickly burble causes me to stop. I'm full--my stomach flooded to capacity with tea. Even as my stomach protests the fullness, hunger still ripples through the watery sack that is my stomach, organs convulsing and desperately searching for something with some substance to digest but finding absolutely nothing as I've refrained from swallowing anything solid for almost thirty hours now to allow the week-long bout of indigestion to pass.

In the morning, my stomach has finally quieted down. No more gas or excess tea to cause rumbles no matter how much you poke or pinch. Doesn't seem to stop you as I wake to you trying all manner of things to my belly. I wake-up to the sensation of you placing a hand firmly over the upper quadrant of my stomach and firmly pushing down as though to squash a gurgle out of me. A pitifully quiet, whiny rumble resounds through my stomach--whining for breakfast. Even though it's muted, it isn't any less painful than the loud grumbles that ripped through my gut throughout the movie.

"Oooh…nnngh…babe…c'n I…c'n I please have something for breakfast? Nnngh…stomach acid's gonna burn a hole through my gut if I don't." I whimper, rubbing at my stomach as it continues with the pitiful, whiny rumbles.

"Sure thing, sweetie. How about you wake up and I'll make us breakfast?" You suggest.

I nod, lazing about the bed as I try to find the energy to get up. I moan as you pat my stomach roughly before you go, triggering another slightly louder rumble. My guts are still sore from your handling of them and I guess that you've been teasing my pyloric valve while I've been asleep. That's the only explanation for why my torso feels like it was put through a meat tenderizer.

I sit up with a groan, emptiness amplifying as everything shifts. An urgency registers in my brain and I limp to the washroom. My stomach is dreadfully empty, but all that tea and water definitely went somewhere, resulting in another organ getting distressingly full. It's a miracle that we didn't wake to wet sheets--especially with you man-handling my torso all night.

Business taken care of, I stop to brush my teeth as well. The minty taste of the toothpaste is amplified as my taste-buds haven't had anything but the slightly metallic-tasting tea in almost 40 hours now.

By the time I leave the master bedroom to find you in the kitchen, my stomach has begun to growl in earnest again. It roars at the sight of half a slice of toast and a couple of strips of bacon on a plate.

"Sorry, darling. We're out of eggs. Welp--eat up!" You tease, finishing the last bite of the other half of the toast. Sighing, I pick up the toast and begin to nibble on it, hoping that by prolonging the eating process that I can trick my stomach into thinking that there's more than there actually is. I sigh as I feel you wrap an arm around my waist--clearly intent to mess with your favourite part of my anatomy all day.

"You'd better be treating me to something amazing--and filling--at some point today, babe." I warn you as my stomach growls angrily, indignant at the lack of food available to digest as I finish my last slice of toast.

So they still used to be cartoon characters that came to life via ichor, but after a while, things started to.. change

The Toons all had their own floors, each one intuned to a certain aesthetic to an extent

But over time, these floors began to warp into near infinite realms that could be traversed via elevator

And the aesthetics only got more pronounced

As for the Toons, they warped with their realms until becoming what they are now

The Handlers, on the other hand, disappeared one by one

The only one who escaped with their Toon was Boxten's, who kept him as sort of his kid for a while, never letting him go back to the Gardenview

But Boxten eventually decided to sneak back there in the name of exploration

He didn't come back out

He could swear the door moved somewhere and he just needed to find it

But he never did

Though, of course, a place like that entices one to wander, especially when one has a need to explore and discover

It's easy to get lost if the Toons don't help you find your way

Though, Boxten was quickly accepted and therefore assisted to find his realm and learn to traverse between them while still being able to find the elevator

The Toons aren't very welcoming to newcomers, some even becoming aggressive towards them

Though some are more welcoming and kind than others, so pray you find their realms first (Don't make any comparisons to The Backrooms or I swEAR TO GOD-)

Though, you're probably wondering how exactly the whole "Twisteds" situation happened here

The answer is: a leak

There are ichor machines everywhere, after all

what causeD the leAk? it's Not easy to Determine, what with the hiding of evidence and eternal realms, Y'know

Anyways, the ichor seeped into the realms, twisting them to unrecognizable messes

The Toons had different reactions to this though

Some were overwhelmed by the warping of their realms, scared and trying to hide

Others got a little too curious...

Of course, a Toon in this state does not fare well in response to ichor

In other words, they get Twisted easier

Our heroines (the Toons whose Twisted forms are frowning + Boxten, Shrimpo, Teagan, and Glisten [duh-]) have to descend(?) through the floors, finding and fixing all the machines they can

Though the only one who never got Twisted was Boxten

He figured out how to fix everything, and got much praise for it, all that jazz

Another thing important to add is that this universe's version of Dandy is far less malicious than the normal one

He's more ignorant than the more familiar version of himself

He doesn't really realize how much he's hurting people until it's too late, and he blacks out when Twisted, almost blinded by rage

My experiences with DreamWidth fandom spaces are the same as my experiences with DreamWidth RP: a lot of people talk about wanting more people to post, missing the old days, and disliking fandom puritanism, but don't interact with others much and, when someone disagrees with them, decide that this is the end of the world. I've seen people in DWRP angry at other people for disagreements from up to 12 years ago. I've seen people in DW fandom spaces vaguepost about specific people they're mad at for disagreeing with them from up to 8 years ago. Neither reaction makes me go, "Ah, yes, this is where I want to hang out", because I just don't fucking care. When someone confronts me about traumatizing them because I said I didn't find X character as engaging as Y or I think it's possible Character A is bi and not gay/lesbian default and it's been 5 years, my first thought is almost always, "I'm sorry, who?" and not, "OMG I feel so bad let me apologize for this!" Not apologizing doesn't go over well, so it's off to gossip to their friends in DMs and on other sites about how someone else totally said this, that and the other thing too and it was super mean.

IDK, maybe I'm just old (I did just turn 30) but I look at this kind of drama and all I can think is, "I don't care and I don't have the energy to engage with this." It doesn't help that I meet people on DW who are self-identified fandom olds (usually that means they're 40-ish) who complain about yaoi fangirls/"fujoshits" and call female characters who've had multiple sexual partners "cockhops" and assume anyone writing f/f is a "neckbeard". This is still less sensitive than antis are, but there's still a lot of moralizing things you don't like and reading into what someone writes in order to judge them as a person.

Between that and the very low level of overall engagement it kind of feels not worth it? I'm not seeing what the benefit is. Making fandom friends is fairly difficult on DW and when you do, losing them is as easy as not having seen something, not liking a pairing or not caring about something (contentious canons, especially). I'm sure someone's having a great time but to me it's sort of like shouting into the void, except sometimes the void calls you a fujoshit neckbeard and never elaborates on how that'd work.

DW's moment as a potential community hub has come and gone, in my opinion. Now, it's just the people who can't hack it on other platforms plus some legacy uses that DW is good for that other sites aren't.

I did make more of an effort to make fetch happen in the past, but it became apparent that a lot of the people who are primarily on DW are not people I want to make that effort for. I've got a couple of old friends still hanging out there because they like very text-based internet stuff, and good for them, but overall... yeah... the vibe just isn't that great a lot of the time.

I used to advocate getting a DW just to have a place to link your other social media in case your tumblr is suddenly deleted due to mysterious tumblr enforcement shenanigans... but honestly, I could probably use my AO3 profile for that just as well.

I'm glad DW is still around, and I hope it continues to be. I don't regret my seed account. But it's just not something I use actively in the 2020s.
