"No, we're not doing that!"

It was their first summer back and Gravity Falls was almost the same, but entirely different. Is that possible? Dipper avoided that question to answer the more important one - would he discover something worth filling his own journal? Well, the journal he shared with Mable. After a few talks, the two realized they were the dream team. Their adventures succeeded due to their shared strengths. So the new journal sat in his satchel (not a purse!) It was his favorite shade of blue, with a familiar pine tree on the cover, and Mabel’s best stickers adorning each side. Mabel was in charge of the camera, a new smartphone with a gummy bear strap for the wrist. 

They agreed three days a week would be dedicated to monster hunting and mystery solving. Wendy, Candy, Grenda, or even Pacifica could come. But the twins knew what worked. Somehow, their troubles started on the third day of their adventuring. Deep in the woods, past the Enchanted Glade, they began to look for the terrifying Cow-dra. After hours of online searching and looking through the Gravity Falls Public Library. Evidence of the Cow-dra could be traced from the 1800’s. A cow with nine snake heads terrorizing the far edges of the forest. As the twins walk past the gates of the unicorn’s grove, Dipper smiles at the camera as Mable takes another selfie. Grunkle Stan had just taught her a new hand gesture to use for Celestabellebethabelle and Dipper knows that they can’t print that picture out. 

“Why not? It happened on our adventures!” Mable says before bursting into laughter. 

"No, we're not doing that!" Dipper adds, between laughs. "Mom and Dad would kill us - and Grunkle Stan."

The laughter quickly came to a halt after a symphony of moos broke out, not far from the clearing they were heading to. The two rush into the bushes, using the forest as a cover. 

Dipper hears “Overall power, activated.” In a robot voice to the left of him. Mable ditched the skirts a few months ago and opted for overalls that she covered in patches. He could see nothing wrong with his shorts, even during the winter. They worked fine and let his legs breathe. But the branches scratched at his legs and he groaned in pain. All noise stopped as they watched four hooves make their way only feet away from them. 

Dipper makes a camera motion. 

It makes the bush shake. 

Nine heads began ripping the bush apart as the twins screamed in fear. 

"Run!"

Did it come from him? Did it come from Mabel? Another unimportant question that didn’t need to be answered. As the twins ran for their lives, back the way they came from. Dipper caught Mable turning around for more selfies?!

"No, we're not doing that!" He shouts at his sister and grabs her arm before picking up speed. The grove! "Quick! Let’s hide there!"

Mirroring her brother’s speech, "No, we're also not doing that!" 

Dipper’s voice cracked as he asked, "Why?!" 

"Personal differences?" Mable shouts and leads the way, remembering a good spot to hide from the creature. 

Hours pass and more responsible Grunkles would go looking for them much sooner. But eventually, they do make it home. They always did when they worked together. Both teens, exhausted from the day ask themselves how they did this all summer long. Maybe they should revisit their work schedule. After two pats on the back and a hug, it was time to journal everything that happened.

Wow, I did this super last minute due to a busy day! I had the idea rattling around for a day but didn't get to writing it up until 8p in my time zone. (It's 9:40 now.) So if the end seems a little rough, it's because it is. I have to go do my duolingo now. Always taking recs!
