In addition to the multitude of Barbies as aspirational adult women that children can emulate, Barbie has had a multitude of appearances as fantasy beings - one of the most prominent being fairies.

It's impossible to talk about this without starting with Fairytopia. Fairytopia was a mid-2000s Barbie movie, and the first animated Barbie movie not to be based on an existing storyline (as with Rapunzel, Princess and the Pauper, A Christmas Carol, etc).

There are now four sequels or spin-offs that I'm aware of so I think it's fair to say that the Fairytopia brand took off.

And of course, this means there's many dolls.

Many, many dolls.

Even outside of the Fairytopia franchise is Barbie: A Fashion Fairy Tale and Barbie: A Fairy Secret, featuring Barbie, Ken and Barbie's frenemy Raquelle in a world where fairies secretly coexist with -- well, I was about to say humans but. Is Barbie a human? Is that the right word to use?

And that's not to even mention the multitude of fairy Barbies outside of the Fairytopia brand, where they range from playline dolls to expensive collector's editions.

Colour Change Fairy is one such playline doll. She uses a mechanic I love to see in toys - her wand has a sponge on the end and her wings and bodice "magically" change colour by dipping her wand in water of different temperatures and applying it. Simple stuff, but kids get really into that.

On the other end of the spectrum, as just one example of the multitude of Barbie fairy collectibles, was The Enchanted World of Fairies Collection, featuring Fairy of the Forest and Fairy of the Garden.

Lizzies Life Series Shadow-curse

Since Lizzies last life memories began, shes had this... curse. It grows and shrinks as it pleases, and as she also notices, fluctuates with strong emotion, especially stress, fear and anger.. She has trouble seeing out of her right eye, some days better than others. When it grows quickly it burns her skin, often weakening her senses. If emotions are strong but not outward, it simmers and itches with a slight burn feeling. Its appearance is almost otherworldly, not being affected by shadow or light easily. Its texture is easily indistinguishable from her skin and hair texture, but lacking in pores and imperfections.

Last Life

In last life, after discovering this, she shares it with her closest companions, Cleo, Ren and BigB, and when she eventually has a falling out with the fairy fort, she becomes paranoid and terrified her secret will surface and she will be viewed as a monster. She becomes terrified of her allies and when she reaches her red life she runs from Ren, severing their bond.

Secret Life

In Secret Life Lizzie decided that getting close to NO ONE was better than losing anyone. Having less allies and no group members made her feel more safe... but also more lonely. She realized this made her curse bubble up more, so she tried to host a party, but only Joel showed up. That would be it. No friends then. But no friends also meant no one to have her back. While trying to complete her task, she fell into the void on her last life, being the first to break the cycle of dying first. Her body was overtaken by the curse, seething in dark silent pain until wild life. She doesn't talk much about what happened in the void. All that is known is the darkness and pain. Was there more?

Wild Life

Lizzie can't deal with the pain alone. In the beginning she searches for a team that she can hopefully make friends with and finds Scar and Jimmy who enthusiastically accept her into their group, forming the bamboozlers. Lizzie begins to exhibit 'random' flare ups that she can t judge. Trying to hide her curse from Jimmy and Scar might prove difficult ....

I love Itty Bitties AU. I have a few questions. 1, did the magic cookies make Timmy basically Cosmo & Wanda's bio son? 2, why is Timmy a pixie? Is it because he used to be human? 3, I assume courts have a genetic aspect, based on the different sizes. So how does that work? Are some courts dominant or recessive? Can a child be a different court than their parent? Jorgen appears to be a specialty but Cosmo is Upper court? 4, what's a fun fact you haven't gotten to share yet but want to? :)

Fun Fact! Timmy has his mom's hair color!! It's slow growing, but after several decades, it'll be a nice pink just like hers! He has his dad's hairstyle, but it's not much different than before.

Numbered Answers to Questions 1-3 below!!!

Yup!! On top of the Fairy DMV, the Fairy Food lets Timmy become linked to Cosmo and Wanda. He can technically be a Fagiggly Gland donor for his brother.

Also correct! Pixies have the lowest magic output compared to all the other Fairy Courts. It's the safest Court Timmy could be admitted to. Maybe when he's older, he can be fully transferred into the same Court as his parents.

Genetics? Who knows! Fairies haven't had to think about it for about 1000 years. What they do know is that Anti-Fairies are born from the shadows of Fairies, and that nobody's quite sure where Leisure Fairies comes from. Pixies and Fairies can cross-breed though, so maybe they have what's known as "recessive" or "dominate" traits. Although Pixies don't have Anti-Fairy counterpart so... 🤔 ...To be fair, Jorgen also has no idea how he's related to Cosmo.
