One of the most thought-provoking horror films of all time now isâŚa musical. SAW The Musical hilariously captures the events of the first movie, parodying the Saw that started it all, following from where Lawrence Gordon and Adam Stanheight find each other for the first time in the bathroom trap. Will they follow "the rules" as they discover each other's secrets? Will they escape the game in time and saw right through? A love story with fluidity (and lots more fluids), SAW The Musical: The Unauthorized Parody of Saw is Little Shop of Horrors meets Avenue Q, pushing the boundary on sexuality and how to love. [Parental Advisory: Explicit Content]
"SAW The Musical: The Unauthorized Parody of Saw brings the iconic horror film to life on stage with a wickedly funny twist. Now is the perfect time to laugh at the macabre as we blend horror and hair-raising laughter, creating a unique musical experience that's both hilarious and thrilling. Get ready for a love story entangled in traps, secrets, and unexpected humor, pushing the boundaries of entertainment with a dash of explicit fun." Cooper Jordan, Creator, and Producer
Created by Cooper Jordan (DEX! A Killer Musical, The Rat Pack Undead), SAW The Musical has a book by Award -Winning Writer Zoe Ann Jordan (Virtuoso - NYCHFF) and music & lyrics by Patrick Spencer & Anthony De Angelis (An Axemas Story), and directed & choreographed by Tony Award Winner Stephanie Rosenberg (Easter Bunny HOP! Christmas address by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Fellow Ukrainians!
Millions of Ukrainians today are waiting for the first star to appear in the evening sky, heralding the arrival of Christmas. A holiday of many shades. A great church holiday. An important national holiday. A family holiday. Christmas, which is always loved by children and awaited by adults. Christmas, which fills hearts with light. Christmas, which always gives hope.
For the second year now, we have learned another form of it, another dimension. This is Christmas in times of full-scale war. Christmas with a different mood, context, and flavor.Â
And a family dinner at home is not the same as usual. Because not all of us are at home. And not everyone has a home. And it has become much more important not what dishes are on the table, but what people are at the table. And how precious it is to have them around.
How important it is to stay in touch with those who are not around, who are defending Ukraine now. What a relief it is to see a "double tick" on the screen meaning the message was delivered and read. How crucial it is to get a response from them.
How our gifts, values, and traditions have changed. How today it's not so much about how we decorate our homes, but rather how we protect them and clean up the mess, sweeping the enemy out of our home. How we rejoice at seeing the first star in the evening sky and not seeing enemy missiles and "Shaheds" in it.
How joyously and sonorously sound the hundreds of our carols, and just three words: "air raid over."
How our wishes have changed. How children's wishes have changed. From the simple and usual "I wish for dad to come home early from work" to "I wish for dad to come back."
For all fathers, husbands, brothers, grandfathers to come back. Mothers, wives, sisters. To return victorious. All those who are meeting the Christmas Eve in the trenches with weapons in their hands, facing the enemy. All our warriors of light. Guardian angels of Ukraine, who prove to us every day: good will prevail, light will prevail, one must have steadfast spirit, and strong faith. Those who prove that miracles do exist. But we have to create them ourselves, obtain them ourselves, make the impossible possible.
Every day we pray for each of them. We pray for an end to the war. We pray for victory.
We will do so today as well. Wherever we are. Wherever we spend Christmas. Today, all Ukrainians are together. We all meet Christmas together. On the same date, as one big family, as one nation, as one united country. And today our common prayer will be stronger than ever. The people's prayer. Today, it will unite millions of voices - more than ever before. And it will resonate today without a time difference of two weeks. Resonate together with Europe and the world.
And this is a unique prayer. For people, for peace, for justice, a prayer for life. And today it will be heard in different parts of the world, coming from the hearts of different people, in different languages. And even from different denominations. Because this is a prayer for life, and it has no borders.
In troubled times, as we defend our land and our souls, we are making our way to freedom. The way to gaining comprehensive independence, including spiritual one. Freedom of our faith from the ideology of slavery. From a cult that has nothing human or sacred within it. One that brings violence, aggression, hatred. One that takes away security and peace, takes away other people's lands and human lives. Yet one that will be defeated. By the power of faith, the power of truth, the power of law, the power of justice, the power of our Ukraine.
Right now, I am in the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. Majestic. Iconic. Ours.
A thousand-year old symbol of Ukrainian history, our culture, religion, Orthodoxy, and all of Eastern Christianity. A proof of our unyielding fortitude, resilience, tough challenges and ability to overcome them. Invariably reviving and growing.
Throughout its history, this place has experienced numerous upheavals and hardships. Profanation, desecration, looting. The Horde, the Nazis, the Soviet times. This place was captured, burned, and destroyed. But no one has ever been able to destroy it completely and forever. The Lavra has always withstood to be reborn again. And after each blow, it not only recovered, but grew bigger and stronger. Because it was and remains a place of power for people. A source of hope and spirit for our people. For everyone who believes. In the victory of truth. The victory of Ukraine.
Christmas Eve is the time of the longest nights of the year. But tomorrow the day starts getting longer, the light starts prevailing. The light is getting stronger. And step by step, day by day, the darkness retreats.
And in the end, darkness will lose. Evil will be defeated. Today, this is our common goal, our common dream, and this is what our common prayer is for today. For our freedom. For our victory. For our Ukraine. For the day when we can all come together at home in a peaceful year of peaceful Christmas. And say to each other: "Christ is born!"
Dear Ukrainians! I extend my Christmas congratulations to all of you! May the light of faith reign in your souls, the light of hope fill your hearts, and love and prosperity fill your homes.
As our ancestors used to say and sing: "Let the sky and the earth bear fruit. Let the sky bear stars, and let the earth bear flowers. God grant it!"
And as we will say today: "Let our Ukraine bear victory and peace. God grant it!"
Congratulations, dear people of Ukraine!
Christ is born! Let us praise Him!

Fic ask meme! Do you have that one idea you've been wanting to write? If yes, what is it about? If no, what is the most enjoyable fic you have written?
I have several ideas on the back burner, since Iâve got so many WIPs already.
Iâd love to write a Christmas Carol darklina story, where Alina has some sort of vision of what the Grisha suffered before the Fold, what itâs like in other countries at the time of her story, and what their lives will look like after Aleksander is gone.
I also think it would be fun to write a series of one shots in which we explore every possibility of Alinaâs Marry, Fuck, Kill game. So one chapter she kills Nikolai, marries the Darkling, and screws Mal, and then in another chapter she marries Nikolai, screws the Darkling, and kills Mal. Etc. the fun would be in making each chapter totally unique.
I have technically started the very rough outline of a Star Wars AU that has Ben Solo searching the Galaxy for his grandfather in a world where Anakin Skywalker killed Palpatine the day he found out he was Sidious, and then disappeared, leaving Padme and Obiwan and co to patch the galaxy back together.
A Reylo modern AU where Ben meets Rey, the reason his father has been arrested for murder.
Iâd LOVE to finish the superhero Grishaverse fic, once I can figure out how to write it. I think I might scrap the whole thing and start over, with a very different format.
The Officerâs Wife is the planned sequel to The Blacksmithâs Daughter, following an Alina and Aleksander navigating being drafted into the army as his stepmotherâs family tries to have them killed.
So many ideas, so little time.

Movie Review: Here
Director Robert Zemeckis tends to get a bad wrap in recent years, but people forget how original and exciting his early films were like I Wanna Hold Your Hand (I was honored to have my short The Beatles Boston screen with it at Mendon Twin Drive-In in 2017), Used Cars, and his magnum opus, Back to the Future, a perfect movie from beginning to end. Zemeckis is truly regarded as a technical innovator for his visual effects in the BTTF movies, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and Forrest Gump, which he won an Oscar for. But in the last few years with his emphasis on animated (Beuwulf), remakes (Pinocchio) and noble letdowns (Welcome to Marwen), he hasn't had that same magic of his earlier films. But again, credit where credit is due, Zemeckis is a tremendous influence on me with the BTTF movies and therefore I might not like everything he does, but I'm always curious what he's doing next. Thirty years since Forest Gump, Zemeckis has reunited with screenwriter Eric Roth and cast members Tom Hanks (a Zemeckis regular in Cast Away, Polar Express, and Pinocchio), and Robin Wright (Beuwulf and A Christmas Carol) for Here, which opened this weekend.
movie poster
The entire movie shows one area from one angle over the course of centuries. There is intercutting between dinosaurs, Native Americans, an early aviation enthusiast, the inventor of the La-Z-Boy recliner, and more, but the primary inhabitants are a post-World War II couple Al (Paul Bettany) and Rose (Kelly Reilly) about to start a family. Among there kids is Richard, who is eventually played by Hanks. He brings his high school sweetheart Margaret (Wright) to meet his family and eventually they have their own family in the house. It intercuts between the family and the inhabitants of the space before and after.
Hanks and Wright in Here
There are some genuine moments here and I can say I liked, well, pieces of this. But the entire movie hinges on the foundation of the gimmick. Some movies based on a gimmick can work (i.e. found footage movies...the good ones anyways), but in this case the gimmick of showing one space (mostly the living room) over a period of time from one angle is just Zemeckis trying to do a ton of "Hey Look at Me! Look what I can do!" directing. Trying to show the space and highlight one area and intercut that with another time period in the same space (i.e. two different pandemics or Ben Franklin and then intercut to a costume party in the 70s where someone is dressed like him). At this point in Zemeckis's career he doesn't need to do "Hey Look at me and what I can do!" directing. He has proven it already! I felt like there could've been a more interesting film about this family without the gimmick and the technical wizardry. I get that it was trying to show all of these life moments through this space - birth, death and everything in between. But there was also (semi-spoiler) too many deaths (I think there were fewer deaths in some horror films). There was a better movie in this that was actually held back by the gimmick. Hanks is always reliable and the emotional heart of the film was Bettany. But in the end, Here wasn't here nor there unfortunately.

Didn't Wanna Feel Old in 2023? Sucks to be You!
Happy 2023 everybody! It's a new year meaning I've got new goals to meet. Goals like finally publishing something, setting up commissions so people can pay me to do what I love, cross-posting between my account here and on deviantART, summoning more kaijus just so they can play elaborate games of poker, y'know, all that good stuff. It also means the return of my 'list of things that have reached a milestone anniversary' list. However, it seems like I've been doing this for so long that these lists have in fact reached their own milestone. From what I could tell, this is the fifth year of my doing this, at least on deviantART. If that doesn't make you feel right from the gate, I present the following:
If I don't mention this my buddy Volts48 won't let me rest; the highly influential sci-fi movie Metropolis turns 100 years old this year, meaning it is now in the public domain. I plan to take full advantage of this fact later, but for now I have the rest of this list to get to...
Anything from 1973 turns 50 years old this year. This includes...
Schoolhouse Rock! (Jan 6th)
Beneath the Planet of the Apes (June 13th)
Robin Hood (yes, the version with the fox) (Nov 18th)
Pirates of the Caribbean (Magic Kingdom) (December 15th)
Charlotte's Web (the animated movie, not the book) (March 1st)
Godzilla vs Megalon (March 17th)
The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (April 5th)
Soylent Green (May 9th)
The Exorcist (December 26th)
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (November 20th)
The Young and the Restless (March 26th)
Star Trek: The Animated Series (Sept 8th)
Super Friends (Sept 8th)
Asteroid (Space Race) (July 16th)
The Night Gwen Stacy Died (MARVEL) (June - July 1973)
'Weâre an American Band' by Grand Funk Railroad
'Free Bird' by Lynyrd Skynyrd
Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album (Oct 5th)
Anything from 1978 turns 45 years old this year. This includes...
Alien (May 25th)
The Cat from Outer Space (June 9th)
The Star Wars Holiday Special (Nov 17th)
The Small One (Dec 16th)
Jaws 2 (June 16th)
Grease (July 8th)

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (Oct 8th)
Halloween (Oct 25th)
Watership Down (Nov 1st)
The Lord of the Rings (animated version) (Nov 15th)
Superman: The Movie (Dec 15th)
Lupin the Third: The Secret of Mamo (Dec 16th)
Fantasy Island (Jan 14th)
The Incredible Hulk (TV series) (March 10th)
The Amazing Spider-Man (TV series) (April 15th)
Hanna Barbera's Godzilla (Sept 9th)
Yogi's Space Race (Sept 9th)
Taxi (Sept 12th)
