i don't know what's weirder when people act like shipping a ship they don't like is going to personally kill their grandma or when shippers of said ship try to downplay their 'problematic' bits to convert it into some milquetoast pair. like aren't you shipping this because it's fucked up? isn't that the whole appeal of the thing? no??

I'm thinking about trying to write down my thoughts on Watson being useless/useful in Sherlock Holmes stories and my take on it 🧍 unfortunately I'm shy and worried about not getting my point across but I'm at least considering giving it a try.

From my perspective, the fandom was a lot more chill back in 2019 and early 2020 and it was still (mostly) p chill throughout 2021 but its gotten a lot worse recently? There were really bad times before, don't get me wrong but they were way more spread out. I don't know if its because most of the older fans have left but its sad that your first perceptions of the fandom had to be like this. I hope it dies down soon.
well technically my first impression of the fandom was when Jonny was forced to share a trauma because of some backlash and that was before i really got into tma

The story of my life from the beginning to an unidentified tomorrow
@nosebleedclub Poetry Month Prompts
for my nineteenth birthday, I want to get nineteen dandelions and blow them away one by one. I want to say goodbye to my old life, pack up and leave, forget what life was like when I lived in a house with a girl's name.
when I was born, my father wanted to give me an old-fashioned name, my mother didn't agree, so he gave up. when I grew up, I wanted to give myself a boy's name, my mother didn't agree, but I couldn't give up.
it wasn't painless, I was young, inexperienced, and unsupported, I didn't know which direction to turn. there were no signs on the road so I created them myself, they were bright green and pointed to Heaven.
you may not be aware of it, but when you ask people who have power over you for support, you are relinquishing your agency. I wasn't aware of it either until my teacher told me she called them.
adults' revenge is as sweet as profiterole, it's easy to get poisoned by it. days spent waiting, waiting, waiting in silence. a vivisection would be less painful and more interesting.
I didn't have access to the infirmary, I was not sick enough, nobody noticed how sick I was. but that's okay, physical therapy wouldn't fix my deviation anyway. I never really needed treatment.
my mother's footsteps on the stairs sounded loud in a house with a girl's name. the comfort my mother offered was as comforting as the house was a safe place. the evacuation signs didn't appear out of nowhere.
realizing that you won't grow up to be a duck, that you are as good as you will get, is the best thing you can do. the swan can try to spread its wings, realize that it cannot do this and begin to desire complete freedom.
my freedom is my name on the schedule at the store where I work, it's earning money for studies in Western Europe. it's the routine of drinking lukewarm tea with the aroma of yesterday's coffee from a thermos and coming home late.
it will be a routine of dandelions, chaotically packed bags, numerous potholes, and falls. there will be no glamour in it, but I hope to see my name on the schedule at a Dutch store, study at a university abroad, and live in a tiny dorm room where the swan can spread its wings.

Do you ever think back to your childhood and go “hey, my parents actually weren’t that bad?”
And then remember the time you were cleaning out your room and binned a bunch of trinkets along with all the usual bedroom detritus, and they got mad that you didn’t donate the trinkets to charity, so took all the bags out of the bin, dumped them on your bed while you cried hysterically because there were maggots crawling all over your room, and then made you sort through the entire lot, still crying and almost throwing up from the smell, and having to throw maggots down the toilet with toilet paper, until you had a small bag of trinkets that were salvageable?
And then left you in that room after you’d taken all the rubbish back out, and left you crying on your bedroom floor, desperately cleaning with tea towels and shower gel to try and get rid of the smell, and slept on the still damp floor because you weren’t allowed to change your bedsheets until the next day?
Or is that just me?

"Break a leg, sis!"
So you know how theater people are notoriously superstitious, and this gives way to all kinds of silly rituals and traditions like having to say "the Scottish play" instead of "MacBeth" and "Break a leg" instead of "Good luck"? Well at the community theater in my hometown some ASM literally broke their leg on opening night of a production, and as a result that theater was forced to add "break a leg" to its no-no phrases.
I'm sure that story has absolutely no relevance to what might happen here, though.

Tbh I'm glad that sp artists dont do that "reblogs > likes" thing. I was a little worried when a few people put it on their posts a while back, but it died off pretty quickly.
#1) 'always reblog every single piece of fan art you interact with' wouldnt really work in this fandom since liking sp is considered-#-taboo on tumblr. Reblogging sp fan art requires admitting to your moots that you like sp. That's why a lot of popular sp fan art has-#-really high like to reblog ratios#2) from what i've seen most of the artists doing the 'reblogs > likes' people are fresh from twitter and mostly only care about the numbers#-tumblr is getting more traffic now than it did a few years ago; but it's still not where you want to go if reaching a lot of people-#-is all that you want#3) not too long ago i was in another fandom where begging for reblogs was common practice. Let me tell you how that turned out. -#-first it started as 'reblogs > likes' on every piece of fan art. Then it was posts going around saying that 1 to 10 reblogs to likes was-#-a pathetically sad ratio. Then it was 'always reblog because you are singlehandedly responsible for an artist's mental health'. -#-then it was putting 'please reblog; likes do NOTHING' on every fan art. Then it was begging for even more reblogs because-#-1 to 2 likes to reblogs ratio was pathetically sad. Then it was 'by not reblogging you are telling an artist to end it all' gaining-#-traction among rpf proshippers.#Look. I get it. I'm not as public about it anymore; but i'm a fan artist and fic author too. I sympathize with working hard on something-#-and wanting a lot of people to see it. But if people quiely appreciating your work is affecting you that much then maybe you need to-#-work on yourself instead of trying to control what a bunch of strangers on the internet do.#Also you need to learn how to enjoy creating without caring about the numbers. Because if you're creating just to watch-#-the numbers go up then you will never be happy. It's a miserable; joyless way to be an artist of any kind

hey, like, a thing you should know before crawling into someone's dms to shout is that this is a fucking free website full of strangers. just because i don't talk about things where you can hear, doesn't mean i don't talk about them. just because i dont hate things where you can hear, doesn't mean i don't hate them. your automatic response of "you've said nothing, you must be a horrible person" is, at best, misinformed and ignorant. please. just leave me alone. let me vibe in peace. just because i don't want to talk about shit the way you do, does not mean im not talking about it. you're literally just a stranger on the internet to me, you aren't entitled to anything that i have to say.

18 27 21 for ask game (:
Thank you! :)
18. Do you speak with a dialect of your native language?
Not really. I use some dialectal words from vÀstgötska (VÀstergötland being the area inland from Gothenburg, the city I'm from) that I think I got from my gran, who got them from her gran, which pleases me, but they're more like seasoning for my natural speech.
As for accent, depending on where people are from, they find my accent more or less hard to place. I think in Stockholm they hear the Gothenburg accent more, and in Gothenburg they sometimes hear traces of Scania in my melody. In Scania I've had people thinking I'm from Stockholm (not true, not a compliment, sorry) and also had the delightful comment that I spoke up-landish (hilarious because the entire country is up from Scania's point of view, also funny because Uppland is an actual place and I do not speak like people from there one bit).
27. Favourite national celebrity
Oooouuuhhhh I think I'll go with the power couple Carl and Karin Larsson. Famous for their role in the Swedish arts and crafts scene and for pretty much setting the standard for a certain kind of Swedish interior design to this day.
When I was growing up my gran had a Carl Larsson print in the privy (this one). I've always loved it but in the 90s it was a little quaint, a little cringe perhaps, at least in my chronically self conscious family, so in the privy it went. But today Carl, and to an even greater degree Karin Larsson, have come back into public consciousness and are very well loved indeed. I went to an exhibition featuring Karin Larsson's dresses a few years back and I'm still obsessing a little over them.
21. If you could send two things from your country into space, what would they be?
Interpreting this as sending into space a la Voyager's golden record and hmm. I think some Hilma af Klint art (she was my second pick for favourite national celebrity) - perhaps a print of her Altarpiece no 1 (her rainbow pyramid) and I think some music. I think my all time fave swedish folk tune is SlÀngpolska frÄn BarsebÀck so let's go with that one.
