hang on have I not mentioned this enough- Hi! Yes! Vincent is Catalan, from Barcelona! I usually talk about them as being/using Spanish but that's honestly just because I know that's what most people would recognise/understand, compared to how relatively niche Catalan is unfortunately. A lot of the time it's more important in the moment to connect somewhat even if it's not entirely accurate "^^ (and they do use Spanish, it's just their second language instead).

Being Catalan specifically is a key part of Vin as a character because, well... I'm projecting, honestly! I live in Barcelona! I may be British, but I've lived here for most of my life now and it's an equally important part of me as a person. Writing about Vin is an excuse to write about the experience of immigrating (though admittedly in reverse of my own) as well as Catalan language, culture, politics, history...

One day I'll sit down and write out some of this stuff and approximately nobody will know the cultural/historical context <3

Hi! I'm doing well, and thx for asking

Goram is a preeeeetty small region (like, only barely bigger than Alola) located far east of Kalos.

We don't really have a lot of stuff to boast about besides scientific advancements and really pretty landscapes; But we're pretty well known for our hot springs (looots of freshwater here, practically for dirt cheap) and for making really good wine.

Most of the region is plains or forests but what few mountain ranges we have are awesome imo

Ecologically it's largely temperate corniferous or mixed forests with freshwater rivers and large swaths of agricultural land separating subregions

I'll try posting a list/map of the types and 'mons most commonly found later. Obviously there's an abundance of grass and normal types, but there's a wayyyy smaller amount of the pokemon that specifically adapted to extreme climates because of the temperature changing a LOT over the year (I'm talking -15° to +35° C).

The concept that “well-traveled” = “cultured” or “knowledgeable about the world” (especially when it comes to USAmericans) is so weird to me because I feel like everyone acknowledges that “American Tourist” is an archetype of ignorance. Those people do not become Enlightened Beings on their 1 week greatest hits tour of Western Europe. Rich, out of touch, inconsiderate people do not become better just because they have physically been somewhere else for a while and people who have never left their country (or even state) are perfectly capable of learning about the world and even (to the shock of millions) interacting with people from different countries on a regular basis.

There isn't a plotline that I'm not interested in, but right now I'm especially drawn to Ew and his feelings of rejection due to kink. I'm so so interested in how this will play out and whether it will be about Ew and Liu finding a balance between kink and non kink in their relationship or whether it will be about sometimes the person you love cannot match you in terms of sexual desires, and that's ok.

I'm so invested, I hope he is able to find some way to live out his puppy play happily and also have a partner who is content, whether that means changing things with Liu or finding a new partner.
