It is very possible to have a happy and fulfilling life without four functioning legs (after all, that is a human's expectation, rather than a cat's (they are confident exactly the way they are))

The problem with Briarlight’s character and the Erins.

I hate how helpless they made Briarlight seem in the books. Just because she broke her spine, she wasn’t allowed to leave the camp, hunt, or attend gatherings. Have you ever seen videos of cats with the exact same disability? They can move almost as fast, climb, and do nearly anything a regular cat can do.

❤️❤️❤️ - Repost from @kittenxlady - Caring for my first paralyzed kitten, Chloe, has been SUCH an incredible learning experience. I discover new ways of looking at her every day; it's honestly the most I've ever had to imagine myself in someone else's shoes. The things she needs don't necessarily come to mind automatically, but the more I understand her, the better I am at giving her a happy life. I recently started noticing she wasn't leaving the bedroom very much, and at first I thought she just didn't want to be with us in the main part of the house. Then I thought about it more: the bedroom is the only place with an area rug, and that's where she likes to chill lately. This isn't just because she likes the rug...it's because it takes a lot of effort for her to get up on the bed or couch on her own, and the rug is the only floor-level soft spot to take a cat nap. So I pulled out a padded mat someone sent me recently (thank you!) and now Chloe is chillin' in the living room, super stoked. I can't believe it took me this long to realize such a simple thing: she wants a comfy place to sit that doesn't take too much effort to get to. Oh Chloe! I got you, girl.
