Seeing them all morph again is such a warm feeling. Zyuohger is my favorite Sentai season after all. :3

1) What did you think of Bard, as a character? 2) Are you as disappointed as I am that he wasn't really part of the team, or that he didn't join in the final fight with the other Zyuohgers? 3) Would you have preferred him have a more unique suit, or are you fine with the fact that it just makes sense, given that he gave Yamato his power? 4) Am I the only one that thought that he was going to die at the end of the series? I'm not imaging this right? They were absolutely setting up his death.

1) I thought he was pretty cool with interesting motivations, a good reason to be involved with Yamato and yet try to avoid contact with humans and other Zyumans as much as possible.

2) Not really.  I thought it was better that he remained in the background a bit and showed up for crucial fights.  As was revealed later, her was hurting himself and shortening his life each time he transformed and that really wouldn’t have lead to a long life as a member of the team.  He also wasn’t different enough from Yamato in costume and powers to add much that wasn’t already there to the team.  I prefer extra members to bring something brand new to the table if they are going to be a fixture.

3) I think his costume made perfect sense considering that he gave his powers to Yamato.  It was the same outfit just washed out in color, as if it had faded or been diminished when shared with another.  Much like how his hair turned gray and he shortened his own life, his suit reflected his lessened existence.

4) Oh yes, they were setting up his death and preparing him to make the ultimate sacrifice for the good of both the human and Zyuman worlds.  All of the flags for his demise were there but I loved the way it was subverted.  The young heroes told the older ones, NOPE, not going to let you sacrifice anything.  You are not dying and you are not severing the connection between worlds.  We are going to find a way through this without anyone giving up anything more than we already have.  

It was very cool how that played out.  The older generation came up with the tragic, scorched Earth solution resulting from desperation and a sense of hopelessness but the younger generation came up with a better way that ended up changing two worlds for the better. There is a very hopeful message there about young people being the real hope for the future who can solve the problems of today with new ideas their elders could never come up with and I like it!

Still, he is played by Kohei Murakami so I kind of want to punch him in the face.

My, this is quite the turn of events.

What the hell happened in the past two weeks while we were gone, Donbrothers? We've got a funny red man, a blue monkey and a yellow oni who're a pair of losers, a pink bird wife guy turned epic divorce man, a jailhouse black dog, and a bunch of autistic kids hanging out in the void by themselves! ...also a Tiger/Dragon system apparently just off to the side, which is quite unusual for a Sixth Ranger.

Also, uh... yesterday morning, Kohei Murakami, who played Kusaka in Faiz and Bud in Zyuohger, after asking if his followers saw episode 36 of Donbrothers, shared a picture of Inoue captioned "Toshiki Kabedon", which is uh... exactly what you might imagine it'd be. I know I don't usually show pictures, but I find this deeply compelling. Look at his goddamn face. Look at it. That is a man who knows.
